Lin's P.O.V
I'm glad Noll was finally able to find someone to put his mind at rest with. Mai had always been close, but he'd never show it. So i'm glad things changed for the better…I just hope it stays this way. I'm nervous to even give him this information since it's only going to confirm his fears…
"Naru." I looked at my computer screen. "I looked into Larny's history like you asked, and found some concerning things." I said.
"Like?" He asked, closing his book.
"From what i found, he's not a very good man. His history with Mai' side of the family consists of countless family wars…Some people say it's because the Hamachi branch wanted to get rid of the door all together. While others say it was the other way around. Considering how much of the Hamachi branch's history was destroyed when the castle was set on fire, we don't have a sure way of seeing their side of what happened…" He hummed, i continued, "When Mai's father was around 15, so way before Mai or her siblings were thought of, Larny and he were training together at the Japan branch. According to someone who grew up with them, Larny and her father continuously fought. There wasn't much in the way of who had more power, though it was assumed Larny was envious and wanted Hamachi dead."
"So…After Hamachi was killed, what happened?" He asked. I scrolled down on my screen.
"Larny assumed Hamchi and his entire family had been killed. Even with the rumors some survived. According to his call logs he continuously called a number under the name Shin. When i look at the number itself…" I paused. I hadn't noticed before…
"What is it." He demanded, I turned to look at him.
"It's the same number you had me trace when we first found Mai again…NoriYuki…" I said. His eyes went dark.
"They were working together?" His tone was dark, fists clenched at his sides.
"It seems that way." I said, confirming his suspicions.
Naru's P.O.V
That son of a bitch. I'm gonna kill him, i swear i am. I paced back and forth in the foyer. Mai's already in bed, fast asleep, Lin is asleep in the guest room, and here i am, blood boiling. I wanted to go to Larny's now and tear his throat out. But i knew if i did that i'd never hear the end of it from Mai, or my mother. I muttered to myself and sighed.
I went to make myself some tea when I felt a sharp pain in my head. Leaning against the counter, I clutched my head tightly.
"Noll….her father wants to speak with you…" I heard Gene pipe up. I went to the mirror and breathed out, a man with brown eyes and black hair appeared in the reflection.
"Naru. As my daughter calls you. You've been digging into our history i see…i suppose i should tell you what you want to know." He started.
"Just tell me…what i need to do for her." I requested. He smiles softly.
"Hold her close. Never let her go. Protect her from harm, from NoriYuki and from Larny. Larny wants the Hamachi power. The same power Mai now holds. He will do anything to get it. Even if that means letting NoriYuki have his way." He stated. My blood ran cold.
"His way?" I asked… i didn't want to know the answer but i needed to.
"Forcing an heir with Mais power then giving her to Larny for experimentation." He clarified. I looked down, quiet. "Protect her…i ask that of you and your family…" he said softly. I nodded.
"I will…until i die." I promised. His form flickered and he smiled before disappearing.
"Until you die? Noll…" Gene pipes up as he appeared in front of me.
"Yes. Until i die. Even if she comes to hate me. Even if we dont last. If she marries someone else and has a family. I will protect her…" i said. Genes eyes softens and he sighed.
"Go to bed, Oliver…" He said quietly, fading away. Walking up to our room, i changed for bed and lays next to Mai. Im not sure how im going to tell her but…she's going to have to come to the facility instead of Larnys… i can't let her stay there anymore…
Looking at her and brushing the hair from her face gently, i kissed her forehead as a silent promise and held her before drifting off to sleep.
