John's P.O.V
Closing the door softly, i went to the main room and opened the door as a knock sounded. I'm assuming this is Mr. Larny.
"Hello, can i help you?" I asked and smiled normally.
"Oh, hello father…I was coming to check on my student, Mai Hamachi?" He asked with what i'm assuming he thinks is a kind smile. More creepy if you ask me…
"I'm sorry, but they're both out at this time. Can i let them know you came by?" I asked.
"Oh, i was sure they were . Davis told me she was home sick." He said, confused.
"Yes, but she's been taken to the hospital since her fever hasn't broken yet." I smiled. I don't like lying, but i had to keep Mai safe…
"Hmm…" He eyed me before smiling, "Then i'll check the hospital. Thank you father." He said and went to walk off. I closed the door and sighed out. But i couldn't relax yet. He saw through my lie, i know he did…
I went around to make sure the doors and windows were locked and covered. That's when a loud thudsounded down the hall. I ran back to the bedroom and saw Naru on the floor, groaning. Mai was gone… My eyes widened.
"Naru what happened?!" I asked and kneeled next to him.
"Bastard snuck up on me…Took Mai…" He groans and sat up, blood coming down his face from his head.
"Who? Larny?" I asked, grabbing the phone.
"Nori…" He muttered and tried to stand. I made him stay seated and looked out the window. I called Lin quickly then the police.
Naru's P.O.V
John had gone to get Larny to leave. But i couldn't relax. I felt something else was here…Someone else… Mai was sleeping so soundly, so peacefully. I went to sit next to her again when something slammed me into the wall. I heard a crack in my skull and fell forward. Groaning, I looked up and saw a dark figure come from the mirror.
"I told you…she's mine." The figure said. His voice was distorted and deep. "But you didn't listen…" He walked over and picked Mai up off the bed, I heard John running back down the hall, "I will have her power…Then i'll kill her and send her head to you in a box." I heard him say before he disappeared into the mirror.
"Mai…" I muttered and tried to sit up as John came running in. He already had his phone out and after telling him who took her, he called the police and Lin. I gripped my head before falling against him.
"Noll!" Gene screamed in my head. But I couldnt respond, I couldn't even focus…The room just went black…
Next thing i knew, i was seeing a calm, warm area and a small body curled up in the air. I walked over to it, water splashing under my feet.
"Noll?" I heard Genes voice and turned to look at him, his eyes wide.
"Gene? What're you doing here? Wait…i'm not dead, am i?" I asked. He shook his head.
"No, you're not. You're in a place between. I'm not sure how you got here, but…"
"He took Mai. Hit me upside the head with something then took her through the mirror." i told him. He glanced behind me.
"Then we need to find a way to wake her up. Now." He said and took my hand, leading me over to the body i had already started heading towards when he stopped me. My eyes widened. It was Mai…
She was naked but curled up in the fetal position, her hair flowing around her like she was in water. Scars covered her body, but her face looked so peaceful… I touched her cheek lightly.
"She's been like this since I pulled her out of the nightmare…I can't wake her. Maybe you can…" Gene said.
"We both need to try. You amplify my power, so we need to both get in her head somehow." I said, thinking and looking around. I saw a door behind her some ways away. Walking towards it i kept hold of Gene's hand.
"This wasn't here before…" He said, confused.
"Odd…" I said and reached for the handle, pushing the door open and both of us were hit with a bright light before changing to an apartment in Japan.
"Guess we can see what she's been hiding in" Both Gene and i said, walking in, the door closing behind us with a loud, echoing click.
The room we entered was bright. I heard laughter coming from around the corner and walked forward to see what was happening. That's when i saw her...Mai, looking like she did they day i first met her.
Gene's P.O.V
So, this was her dream that she was stuck in... Her, her mother, and her siblings. All together and alive...Oh this is going to hurt to tear her out of. Noll walked forward, and i followed.
"She won't be able to see or hear us, ya know..." I said quietly, watching as she played a board game with Riku and Sairu.
"Yea i had a feeling she wouldn't" He said. His voice sounded distant as he watched her.
"What is it?" I asked. He was silent for a moment.
"She feels safe in a world where she never went through all that pain..." He said, quietly, "I don't want to tear her away from it..."
"It would be cruel to let her stay here and pretend things weren't happening on the outside." I pointed out.
He nodded and went to walk around. Guessing he was trying to find something he could use to get her to notice us. If anyone can, it's gonna be him most likely.
"May want to wait until this version of her goes to bed. We can try and reach out when she's alone." He stated. I nodded in agreement, and we just watched her live a life that she, unfortunately, would have to leave soon.
