Mai's P.O.V

I was so happy. I was accepted into an abroad program in England and even got an offer for an internship at SPR's head research branch. Looking at the clock i saw it was around 2am.

"Oh god, i need to go to bed!" I stood quickly.

"Oh yea, it is pretty late huh?" I heard Sairu say next to me and smiled.

"Yea, i need to go and get all my paperwork done tomorrow so it'll be ready for my trip." I said and hugged her tightly.

"I'm so proud of you, Mai" She said, Rikus' arms wrapping around us.

"Our little sis is so grown up, now" He said, feigning sadness. I giggled.

"I'll be home for the holidays so don't miss me too much." I said and went to my room. Stretching, i went into the bathroom and started a shower. It was weird…I could've thought i was missing something the last couple days, but Riku, Sairu, mom…even my friends at school said i didn't miss anything important…

Wrapping the towel around me i looked in the mirror and stared for a minute at my reflection. I didn't know what to think. I'm 18, going to college in the UK…I have a shot at working at SPR thanks to the best boyfriend i could ask for. So, why…do i feel so empty…

I splashed my face with water and decided to not worry about it. Looking up, I couldn't help but scream at a man in my mirror behind me. I turned around abruptly and nothing was there..? But i clearly…

I looked back at the mirror, saw him again and rubbed at my eyes.

"Who…" I started.

"Mai, thank goodness" The man said, his voice soft. "It's me, Eugene. Naru's brother…" He said. That's not right…Gene is dea- Ohh i'm seeing a ghost. Oh HELL no. "I know you must be shocked, and yes, i'm a ghost in your mirror. But listen to m-"

I ran from the bathroom into my room before he could finish and closed my door. I don't know why i thought that would work but hey, i did it anyway.

"Mai…" I heard from behind me in my room. Spinning around, I saw another man, identical…

"Noll? What're you doing here? When did you get here?" I asked. But something was off, his eyes were pained and distant. "Noll..?" I asked softly.

"I'm not the Noll that you know in this dream…Mai…" He started. Dream? What dream? "I need you to wake up, Mai…" He said. His voice was pained…and something in my heart tugged gently as he spoke. I walked over to him.

"Noll…this isn't funny…What's going on?" I asked and smiled a little cautiously. He touched my cheek gently and rubbed his thumb over my cheek. His hands were rougher than normal…

"You need to wake up…I need you to wake up…" He said gently, "NoriYuki took you from our home. I'm in the hospital and John is looking for you…" The room went cold around us but his warmth stayed.

"Who..? Oliver, you aren't making any sense…" I said, leaning into his hand and moving to lay my head on his chest. Not the first time he's seen me in a towel so i'm not all that worried. I felt his arms wrap around me tightly.

"Remember…You have to remember…I know it hurts. I know it's scary. And i may not be there with you wherever the bastard took you in physical form. But i will findyou. I Promise i will." He said. His tone was so serious yet still very pained.

"Noll…you should be in England…Why are you here?.." I asked, quietly. He grabbed my arms roughly and shook me.

"Noll, don't hurt her!" I heard Gene yell as he came in. "You need to be more gentle. She's blocking it out after all." He continued, trying to pry Narus' hands off my arms.

"It's ok…it doesn't hurt…" I said, but looked at Naru. I was a little scared…He's never gotten rough with me…

"You need to wake up, Mai! Please remember!" He yelled. The room was shaking, "please don't make me resort to forcing you awake." Oh…his PK…I knew what he meant, but i really, honestly, had no idea what he meant by "wake up". I was awake…Wasn't i?

I started to hear so many things around me that weren't in the room. Metal clanging and doctors chattering. Looking around my room in confusion, i furrowed my brows.

"Do you…hear that?" I asked.

"Hear what? What do you hear?" He asked quickly, "Tell me, it can help find you."

"Doctors…and metal clanging…like um…like handcu…ffs…" I started to see visions of shackles and blood. Then it's like a dam opened and the entire river that was my repressed memories came flooding back into my head. I gripped my head and screamed, my bedroom disappearing and both Naru and Gene being thrown back into emptiness.

The dark room, the blood, the hands. I saw it all coming back. I couldn't take it…Naru…Help me…

Naru's P.O.V

I sat up abruptly in bed, Lin rushing over to make me lay back down. Coughing, I saw my father behind him.

"M…Mai…" I whispered. Lin gave me some water to drink and sat me back.

"The police are looking, Noll…" My mother said, gripping my hand.

"No…they won't find her…" I said. "I need something of hers."

"I think not, young man." She said, "you are in the hospital. With a head injury so bad you were out for a week!" My father grabbed her shoulder gently and i gripped my head.

"She's right, Oliver. You need rest. The police will find Mai." I just stayed quiet, i could find her faster. They didn't even know where to start. Looking out the window and gripping the blanket over me.

It was silent for a while until Lin piped up, "What if he just looks and gives the clues to the police?" He suggested. My mother went to object when my father stopped her.

"If he promises not to physically go looking, then fine. But he has to rest when he isn't searching. Or when it strains him." He said.

"Noll?" Lin looked at me. I was just looking at Gene in the window when he nodded.

"If that's the only way you'll let me." I said. I heard my father sigh and my mother crossed her arms.

"You don't leave this room. I'll have John bring something from the house." Lin said.

"The ribbon…" I looked at him.

"Ribbon?"

"That she uses to put her hair up…" I clarified, to which he nodded and left the room to call father Brown. I laid my head back and draped my arm over my eyes. "I'm tired…can i be alone..?" I asked my parents softly.

I felt a kiss on my forehead and a pat on my leg before they left the room, closing the door behind them. I felt the tears well, then fall, biting my lip until i tasted blood.

"Naru…" I heard Gene say from the mirror.

"Her screams…She freaked so much she forced me back into my body…" I said quietly.

"That's just the result of her fear…She's strong, she'll be ok…" He tried to reassure me. I wanted to believe it, i did, but something in my gut told me if we didn't hurry…she wouldn't make it.
