Thailog had been watching the castle for several days to wait for an opportunity to gain entry to seize the red one that Ray and Anton wanted so badly. When he had seen Brooklyn through the binoculars, he could see why. They had said his belly was big and he held the answer to gargoyle kind inside him.
"Hmm, this just might be a good opportunity after all." Thailog smiled sinisterly. He was just waiting for the right moment to strike. He knew his way around the castle too.
It came a couple nights later when the whole clan save Brooklyn and Bronx went out patrolling. Thailog saw his chance and he took off from the building he had been on. He had been in contact with Ray and Sevarius. Ray was the most persistent in asking if he had seen him. He wanted him back so badly.
Brooklyn and Bronx had headed inside to go get a snack from the kitchen. Brooklyn had glided down to the kitchen area while Bronx had run down from the high tower.
Brooklyn could feel his son moving about inside him from obviously just woken up too. Then he heard another gargoyle land behind him. "Long time no see, Brooklyn."
The red one stopped and turned at the sound of Goliath's voice, only to see it wasn't his leader but his clone! This was automatic trouble. Brooklyn instantly pulled a wing in front of himself.
"Thailog! What are you doing here?!" Brooklyn demanded. He wasn't about to attack the big black clone gargoyle. He had a hand on his stomach under his wing.
"I am here for you, Brooklyn. I know your clan is gone and big bad Goliath isn't here to protect you now." Thailog mocked Goliath.
"I'm here to guard the castle against troublemakers like you." Brook retorted.
"Oh, but I know you're here for more than that. You are mine tonight for a certain interested party that wants you." Thailog finished.
"Whoever it is, I am not going to them."
"Oh, but you are." Thailog smiled evilly and he pulled a gun.
Brooklyn gasped and he instantly dodged the dart as it was fired. He immediately began to run. He couldn't let himself be caught again.
Then Bronx came onto the scene, and he attacked Thailog instantly. The clone was knocked forward from behind. It knocked the wind out of him for a moment, but not for long. Thailog growled, and he rolled over and he kicked the gar dog into a wall. It had given Brooklyn time to make a getaway. Bronx fell unconscious as Thailog got up and charged in the direction the red one had gone.
Running was hard on Brooklyn at this point in time. He had to support his belly with both hands. He wasn't as agile as he used to be. He was panting hard. He had to get away from this evil clone of his leader. He wasn't normally so shy about running from an enemy, but being this far along in his pregnancy, he didn't have much of a choice. He hoped Bronx would be okay.
Brooklyn was calling out for help but there was no one that could hear him. He was too far away from Xanatos' bedroom. Just as he was rounding a corner, a window shattered from above and the black gargoyle clone forced his way inside and he got in front of the pregnant male. He didn't hesitate to fire a dart and it landed in Brook's right bicep.
"AGH!" He screamed in pain and held his arm.
"You aren't going anywhere." Thailog said sinisterly.
Brooklyn backed up but was feeling the effect of the drug in his system. "No, please. Don't... do this..." His voice slurred before he fell to his knees. His vision was fading, but he made sure to not fall on his stomach. He fell to his side with his right wing covering his belly.
Thailog was satisfied his prey was down. He went over to the downed male, and he raised the wing up to get a good look at him. He saw that what Ray had said was true; that Brooklyn was looking indeed pregnant.
Thailog gently picked up the Second in Command in his arms in a bridal carry. Then he went to the nearest battlement edge and jumped off, taking Brooklyn with him.
Bronx woke up soon after and tried to find the red gargoyle, but no one would answer him.
The clan would soon return and look for him for dinner, but he was nowhere to be found in the castle. Bronx was disoriented after being hit in the wall, but he was able to locate Brook's scent that led to his room, only to find it empty. Other places like the library and paradise were looked at too and he wasn't there either. Something was wrong.
...
Thailog gladly took Brooklyn back to the lab where Ray and Anton were. The red male was instantly taken to the lab where he was laid on his back on an operating table. His limbs were all tied down so he wouldn't be able to escape so easily.
Ray came out, smiling pleased. Thailog had earned his reward payment. The black clone was still interested in what the big answer was too. He stayed for now in hopes of creating a new army or something, but also to keep Brooklyn in line.
Ray went over to the red gargoyle to do an exam on him while he was still unconscious. He took his blood pressure and pulse. He listened to his heart and lungs. Then he wanted to listen to gut sounds too, but more so, he wanted to feel the fetus move inside the belly.
Anton also came over and the two of them watched the belly for a few moments. Then there were little bumps hitting against the skin from inside Brook's belly. Ray smiled. "That's my baby," he declared.
"How is a male gargoyle pregnant?" Thailog demanded.
"I used some of his own genetic tissue to make an artificial uterus inside him. His own sperm fertilized an egg created from one of his own sperm too. Genetic engineering. This can only happen to male gargoyles. I'm not interested in waiting on eggs to hatch in a decade. I want results in a few months rather. This baby is just the start of the foundation for the gargoyle race." Ray explained.
The thoughts intrigued Thailog.
Ray put his hands on Brooklyn's swollen stomach. He gently pressed into the skin to feel around inside it and where the baby was. When he pressed near a spot where the baby was, the baby would kick out at his hands. Ray smiled all the more.
"I could be called your daddy." Ray said to the belly, wanting the baby to hear him. "But we should get your mother up."
Brooklyn was given the wake-up drug and it wasn't long before he stirred and found he was once again, tied down. It instantly made him squirm in fear. He looked down and he was worried about his son.
"You are awake, we see." Anton declared.
"Ugh, what do you want with me?" Brook demanded.
"You should know what we want, Brooklyn." Ray appeared.
"Ray, can't you give up on me? I want nothing to do with you." The red gargoyle declared.
"Oh, but I want everything to do with this pregnancy to see if it's possible for other pregnancies in the future for you and your clan." Ray explained.
"Not your way. They'll have their own kids the way it's supposed to be." Brooklyn snapped.
"And let the gargoyle race die out in just a few short years by doing it that way? Why would they want to do that? All species fight for the survival of their kind." Ray explained.
"Our race isn't going to die out! We will all keep fighting to keep our kind alive."
"Your numbers are so low that your clan can't replenish the numbers you might have once had. Your kind are so unique and fascinating to want to know about more so than most other species. You're almost kind of like something from back when the dinosaurs roamed the Earth. I mean, your body shape like the sharp teeth, wings, and your feet; those are more remnants of the dinosaurs." Ray explained some more. "Though I doubt they turned to stone, but they are the ancestors of today's birds."
Brooklyn had seen some dinosaur movies before, like Jurassic Park 1 and 2. The man did have a point there, but he still needed to stop trying to cause mental harm to the pregnant male.
"Thanks for the compliment, but this still isn't right that you keep on wanting to capture me. I'm not your science project." Brook struggled.
"Oh, but you are until further notice. I need to see how the baby is doing inside you." Ray decreed.
"No!" Brooklyn squirmed, trying to get free.
"Oh, but I must, Brooklyn. I have felt the little one move inside you while you were asleep. I must see how it looks." Ray smirked smugly.
Anton gladly brought over the ultrasound machine. Brook's breathing began to pick up. "No. Please no." he begged.
"What? You haven't had an ultrasound for a while?" Anton mocked him.
"That's none- of your business!" Brook snapped.
"Then we must take a look at it." Ray said. He picked up the tube of gel. He took the lid off, then began to move toward the pregnant gargoyle.
Brooklyn squirmed some more. He didn't like it when the slimy gel was applied to his swollen belly. He grimaced. Ray then picked up the wand and gelled it too, then applied it to Brook's belly. Brooklyn had momentarily quit moving about. He could only stare up at the ceiling as he felt the wand moving over his stomach.
Thailog was also watching at a distance of this miracle baby. He was curious.
Ray marveled at seeing Brooklyn's baby once again. The body was developing perfectly. From what he could understand, the baby's lungs still weren't developed yet to live outside its father's body. There was still a ways to go.
Ray then moved the wand down to the leg area to see if he could identify the sex of the baby. The legs were all over the place, as was a wing, but Ray thought he saw a penis in there. "Hmm, I think I saw the gender of your baby, Brooklyn."
The red gargoyle turned his head toward his captor. "No! That's not for you to see!" Brook exclaimed in fear.
"It's too late. It's a male, isn't it?" Ray sneered.
"I didn't know." Brook lied.
"Well, now you do. Gargoyles have surely never known what they were having for a long time, a long decade before they find out what they are having. Think of this as a gift, Brooklyn, that you are able to know what you are having before the birth." Ray explained.
'I already know I'm having a son.' Brooklyn thought to himself. There was nothing he could do to stop this maniac scientist from seeing his child while he was tied down like this. 'Please come and get me out of here, guys, before he takes me somewhere I don't want to go.'
"What are you going to do with me?" Brooklyn asked.
"I'm taking you back to Nevada where you belong." Ray replied.
"No, please! I need to be with my clan. I won't go back!" Brooklyn yelled and struggled. It made Ray lose his focus on the machine.
"Hold still. I'm not done yet." Ray ordered.
"NO! LET ME GO!"
"Thailog, do something." Anton ordered.
Thailog was all too happy to oblige. When he appeared in Brooklyn's line of sight, it made the red male tremble in fear. He stopped moving. "You will hold still, or I can make you hold still." He threatened.
"Don't go harming him too much. He's still carrying my baby." Ray said.
"Not yours! It's mine!" Brook retorted.
"Oh, but it is mine because I made it. I implanted it inside you after assembling the right dna markers." Ray explained. "And it will be mine to see to do fit with as it or he grows up."
"He's my son! I won't let you harm him!"
"I wouldn't dream of harming him. Just you know, watch and see how he develops once he's born. What his personality and temperament will be like. His interests. He'll be raised like a human child just about, only gargoyle." Ray explained.
"A young gargoyle needs his clan too. He'll need the proper guidance on what it's like to be a gargoyle. Humans won't be able to teach him everything he needs to know, like how to glide." Brooklyn retorted.
"You might be allowed to stay in his life if you cooperate. But you can also give me more than him." Ray declared.
Brooklyn's eyes widened. He didn't want to be put through one pregnancy after another. "No!"
"Oh yes. I think I will. This one will need some siblings." Ray stated.
"Oh, don't do this!" The red male cried out.
"You'll recover quickly enough with your stone sleep. Then a new pregnancy will commence." Ray declared.
"No, please! My firstborn will be more than enough for me to worry about." Brook pointed out.
"You won't be seeing him all the time. There will be plenty of caretakers for him." Ray said. "And I get to pick his name too."
"No. That's my job."
"I don't care what you have picked. The name I pick will be his name." Ray proclaimed.
Brooklyn hadn't even chosen a name yet. But he sure wasn't going to let this psycho name his son. He didn't care if he got him pregnant in the first place, but Brook had grown to love the baby he carried. This never happened to males, so he wasn't about to take the opportunity for granted. He had to get away before being taken back to that horrible facility out west. Then it would mean another trip home again and this time, Brooklyn was heavier in the belly. His gliding wouldn't be the best to get away, and he had to have surgery just to deliver this baby. There was no getting out of that.
"Let me go!" Brooklyn demanded angrily.
"Nope. You are staying with me. You are such a prize that has been hard to catch." Ray sneered.
"So, when are you taking him out of here?" Thailog asked.
"Real soon. I'm grateful for your help, Thailog." Ray said.
"Why aren't you holding him hostage too?" Brooklyn demanded.
"Because he's a clone. I'm wanting a purebred gargoyle. And your baby should be. Only thing is, he's all you. There are no genes from a female in him, other than perhaps from your birth mother." Ray explained.
"I didn't know who my birth mother was. I had many mothers." Brook admitted.
"That's too bad and interesting to know. With me, you'll be his sole parent." Ray said.
Brooklyn was going to have the whole clan raise his son too, but he would still let his son know that he was his birth father. The child would no doubt notice that he and Brook looked a lot alike. But it only remained to be seen what he looked like outside his body.
