Mai's P.O.V

I've been awake for a few hours now but i was so embarrassed. God the way i acted… Burying my head in my pillow i groaned quietly. I could still feel his touch…his kiss… shuddering, i took deep breathes as the door opened.

"You gonna stay in bed, blushing all day, or are you coming downstairs?" I heard Naru say. I squeaked and shot up, throwing my pillow at him, earning a laugh.

"Shut up!" I yelled and covered my face, the sheets still around me. The door clicked closed and he walked over. Taking my hands from my face gently, he laid me back with my hands above my head, and propped himself above me, his knee between mine.

"You really should stop making those faces if you want me to act normal." He said lowly, leaning down. I blushed and looked away from him.

"I-i'll come downstairs…just be normal…" i muttered with a small pout, looking at him with intentional innocence. He grunted and placed a kiss on my lips before standing.

"You make this hard, ya know." He stated, running a hand through his bangs. I sat up again and kept the sheet around me as i stood, stumbling and falling into him. "Careful-" he said, gripping my arms gently.

"Sorry…got tangled up" i laughed nervously. He just smiled and shook his head.

"I'll be downstairs with mom and dad…take your time." He said and steadied me before leaving the room.

I patted my cheeks and went into the bathroom. Showering, then getting dressed, i went downstairs to join them for tea and lunch. Heh…i missed breakfast…

"Mai! Are you feeling ok?" Madoka ran over to check me.

"O-oh yes…yes im ok…" i said and smiled a bit.

"Your face is red." She felt my head and tilted her head. I just waved my hand and laughed a bit.

"It's nothing…really im fine…" i was really hoping she doesn't put two and two together… considering i wasn't looking at Naru.

"Hmmmmmm…" she hummed before smirking.

"Oh no, she figured it out" i thought.

"If you're sure~" she sang and sat back next to Lin. He just sipped his tea silently. I sat next to Naru and breathed out quietly.

"After tea~ we'll open the gifts before the family gets here for dinner. Then-" His mother started when Martin cut in.

"Mai, you and Noll can have the rest of the day. I wont ask you to be overwhelmed again…" He said and smiled sweetly.

"Oh, are you sure?" I asked, "its Christmas…i dont want to be rude…"

"You're family at this point, and we've already asked so much of you… just take the rest of the week to rest before you leave for Japan, ok?" He said. Naru gripped my thigh, making me jump.

"Ah- o..ok.. thank you…" i said and smiled a bit, kicking his leg a bit to make him stop. Miss. Luella was pouting a bit behind her cup.

"I had a dress picked out…" she said.

"Honey, she isn't your doll." Martin pointed out. Lin and Naru both snickered behind their cups. I smiles softly and giggled, looking at my cup. I felt a sudden flow of saddness come over me as i watched them.

"Mai?" I heard Madoka ask, gripping my hand. I looked up to see her eyes filled with concern. I shook my head and smiled, which she accepted and went back to eating.

This holiday was always hard for me, since my mom died…so watching Luella and Martin talk like this…it was refreshing… Luella stood after a minute and pulled Madoka to help her with the gifts. Then the rest of us made our way in there after awhile.

One by one, everyone opened their gifts, even Naru who was…very confused at a few of them. To say the least. Clothes, books, each of which he thanked them for. But mine was upstairs… i wanted to give it to him when we were alone…

Mine were a collection of romance novels in english that Madoka had suggested, some mystery novels from his father, and a set of different teas, then more clothes and shoes than i had room for…plus english candy galore. i thanked them and smiled gently as i organized them into a few of the bags.

It was a happy few hours, which part of me felt…guilty…for not visiting mom and dad like i usually do…I'll visit first thing when i get home…

Naru's P.O.V

It was cute watching her squirm this morning while trying to rationalize what we did last night. Maybe i dont need to make her mad to mess with her…just a look gets her riled up now. I chuckled to myself.

I watched as Mai smiled and laughed nervously throughout the gifts. I knew she felt overwhelmed after everything…and i mean everything, that's happened… i'm really hoping she can catch a break, even if just for a little while…

Once everyone had finished opening gifts and talking, Mai and i headed upstairs to my room as my mother and Madoka went into the kitchen. I sat the bags by the window and went into the closet to get my gift for her.

Walking back out i saw her sitting on the bed with a small box in her hands. I smiled gently.

"Same idea, huh?" I asked. She nodded and smiled as i sat with her.

"I'll be honest…i didn't know what to get you, so if its not your style then i apologize before hand…" she said as she handed it to me.

"I'll keep it either way." I said, handing her the one in my hand. "But i must admit the same…" i said. She giggled softly and opened it, her eyes softening. Inside was a sterling silver necklace with a locket on the end. She popped open the locket and her breath caught.

"Oh…Naru…" She said and sighs softly. "I love it…" I smiled gently, and kissed her head. "Now i feel like mine is so small…"

I chuckled, then looked at my box and gently opened it. Inside was a black watch with silver plating. I took it out and turned it over to see an engraving of her name on the back. I leaned into her and saw there was a small latch. Popping it open, a picture falling out into my lap, face down.

"Oh…" I said, picking it up and unfolding it i saw Gene and a smaller picture of her folded up together. "Where did…"

"Gene led me to it…in his old room…" She said, a little nervous. "I hope that's ok…"

"If he led you to it, then i don't mind it…" I smiled gently and held her close. Laying down with her and nuzzling her shoulder.

"Naru..?" She asked quietly.

"It's perfect…" I said softly and held her. This was…perfect.
