This story is tougher to write than I thought, I don't know what to do with babies lol. I was supposed to post this chapter at the end of May, but time flew by so quickly. I'm more excited for the Rizzles twins' future years, going to time jump a lot at the beginning until they become adults I have lots planned I rather get to that sooner than later. Enjoy.
Two weeks, it's been two weeks since the twins had been brought home from the hospital. It being the second week meant that Todd and Kate were going to be coming back to live with them. Jane and Maura both got on a set schedule with their babies, plus they missed Camille's twins being around. Frost had finalized moving into the guest house about a week ago. Cameron Davies had visited a few times, Jane thought the mornings felt awkward at least in her opinion. It felt like he was staring at her and Maura when Frost was in a conversation with Maura. Jane's observation skills never let her down, she was right about the whole Kent liking Maura situation. Once Cameron Davies left after breakfast Jane went outside to the guest house. Frost was feeding Chad the tortoise instead of getting ready for work. He had been acting odd most of the morning.
"Hey Frost, are you doing alright?" Jane sat down on the couch, joining Frost.
"Yeah, why wouldn't I be alright?"
"Maybe because you were kind of quiet today except while Maura was talking to you."
Frost slumped his shoulders, "Well Cameron still wishes that I would have considered moving in with him instead of your place. Our relationship is still pretty fresh and I don't want to rush things along this time around. He said he understands but I don't think he completely does. Then there's Crowe who's been acting odd ever since I told him I was moving in here. He gives me longing looks sort of how sometimes I see Cameron glancing at you or Maura like this morning."
His words took her by surprise, "You noticed that? I didn't want to say anything. Maybe I should have."
"Jane it's alright that you didn't. You both are very attractive, a lot of people stare at the both of you and Cameron still finds it odd that he's attracted to me."
"Is that why he wants you to move in with him so bad because you are someone he wants to get used to?"
"I guess you can put it that way. You know you and Maura make relationships seem simple, you've been through so much and still as strong as ever. I'm quite envious of your marriage."
"You don't need to be envious Frost."
"I know that I don't need to be, it just happens to be how I feel. Even Korsak's marriage I'm envious of."
"You're talking about the same man who's had three failed marriages before marrying my mother."
"Jane he had three other people who loved him at some point enough to think they'd spend the rest of their lives together. You must admit he got something going for him, whatever the hell it is I have no idea," Frost smirked.
"I guess you're right. It's odd hearing you say your envious of Korsak. You and Cameron have a special connection though. I'm sure part of him imagines marrying you one day. It'd be nice if he stopped the staring though."
"You really think Cameron wants to marry me?"
"If he's willing to have you move in with him, I'm sure he's sort of serious about you even if he isn't fully adjusted to being with a guy. Cameron seems like a go getter. The real question is would you marry Cameron? If Tommy somehow gets out of jail would there be any part of you that would want him back?"
Frost took a minute to respond, "I love Tommy I don't know if that's going to change, I have moved on. Cameron gave me that chance to move on and I will always be grateful for him. I want to be able to love Cameron as much as I loved Tommy. I don't think I could handle getting hurt again though."
"You don't think Cameron is going to hurt you, do you?"
"God I hope not but to answer your other question, in the future, yes I can picture being married to Cameron."
"Well let's hope he keeps his head in the right place, he makes you happy I can tell."
"Happier than I've felt in months," Frost smiled, getting up from the couch. "I should actually get ready for work now. Thanks for talking with me Jane, I feel better."
"That's what I'm here for," Jane patted his on the back before she headed back into her house. She was immediately greeted by Kate.
"Jane! Jane! There you are," she grinned. "I lost a tooth, the tooth fairy gave me five dollars. I want to put it in our Disney World trip fund."
"Oh is that so, fairy godmother must be loaded now, I only got quarters when I lost my teeth."
"She upgraded. Todd and me always got a dollar."
"Well let's go put it in our fund now, speaking of your brother where is he?"
"Maura is letting him see the twins, I already had my turn you make super cute babies," she complimented as Jane brought down the jar with the Disney fund. "Five dollars closer," she grinned, placing it in the jar before Jane put it up.
"At least you know how to save up your money, if the tooth fairy gave me a five dollar bill, I'd try to spend it right away."
"Mama saved a lot of money, she taught us all about how to save up. I miss her."
"I know, I miss her too," Jane rested her hand on Kate's shoulder. "But we have each other, that counts for something."
"Will I remind you of my mama when I get older?"
"There's a possibility, but that just means you'd grow up to be a very fine woman. Your mother meant the world to me, just like you and Todd do."
"You mean it?"
"Definitely," Jane nodded, squatting down to give Kate a hug. "So where has my mother gone? She did drop you off, right?"
"Yeah she did, she went to the airport to pick up Aunt Susie and Uncle Frankie. Korsak stayed home with Julian to get some rest, he's teething apparently. It's funny, I lose a tooth and baby Julian is getting some. Maybe he'll have some so he can eat some cake for his birthday. It is coming soon after all."
"You seem very excited for Julian."
"Of course I am turning one is a very big deal, even though he might not remember it at all." Kate stopped and stared as the back door opened and Frost appeared. "Uncle Frost! There you are," she rushed over to him and he picked her up and gave her a hug.
"How are you doing munchkin?" he asked as he placed her back down on the ground.
"Good, are you going off to work?"
"As a matter of fact I am, I'm also about to be running late so I'll see you later."
"Okay, I'm glad we live in the same place now. Tell Detective Crowe that I said hello and wish him well. I bet he's upset he lost a good roommate."
Frost chucked, "I'll let him know that you're concerned."
"Thanks Uncle Frost," Kate grinned, waving him out of the door. "I feel bad for Detective Crowe, I can't imagine how he feels living all alone again," she sighed, glancing up at Jane.
"I'm sure that Detective Crowe will find a way to occupy his time. You're the sweetest kid I think I've ever met caring about him though, you know that?"
"Hey, what about me?" Todd asked from the top of the stairs.
"I didn't forget about you, I couldn't. You're the nicest kid I think I've ever met. Didn't think you'd like being referred to as sweet."
Todd shrugged his shoulders. "I guess being the nicest kid is okay. I prefer Uncle Tommy over Detective Crowe for Frost."
"What about with Cameron, the guy Frost is actually dating, you used to like him a lot?" Kate looked at her brother as he came down the stairs.
Todd shrugged again, "Eh, I don't know, I changed my mind."
Jane kneeled down in front of Todd, "Did something happen with Mister Davies Todd, something that I should know about?"
"No, not really. I don't know, I feel like he cares less, about me. Uncle Tommy still cares about me. I miss him. Is he ever going to get out of jail Jane? He tells me soon in his letters, but that's been a while."
"I wasn't aware that my brother has been writing you."
"Yeah, I have a whole lot of letters from him, they all end with how much he misses me and he hopes to see me soon."
"To be honest I haven't the slightest idea of when my brother is going to be released, if he's ever going to be. I really don't want you to get your hopes up, okay?" Jane rested her hand on Todd's arm.
Todd nodded, a frown on her face, "Oh- okay. I should remain positive though right?"
"You can keep being positive about it, sure. I don't want you to get upset, I hate seeing you guys get let down. As for the whole Cameron caring less about you, since Frost lives here now I'm sure he'll be around so much you'll be asking for space." Jane's words made him smile. "See there you go, things are going to be quite alright, don't you worry."
"Is everything alright down here?" Maura asked once she entered the room.
Jane stood up to stretch her legs from kneeling too long. "Things are going quite well, I know I'm very grateful having these two back," she smiled and the twins grinned up at Maura in agreement.
This chapter was pretty Jane centric in trying to help cheer people up, poor boys being off in this chapter. I've missed writing Jane's interactions with Kate and Todd, and who doesn't love a good Jane/Frost talk? Jane is definitely a mama bear all around. I'll try to give Rizzles more stuff next chapter.
