MONKEY FUN

Clark had been busy with some work with STAR Labs, and Leslie was between podcasts. She was feeling a bit bored as she sat and watched the simuldub broadcast of one of her favorite new anime. She chuckled at the interplay of wit and gambits between the two protagonists, both trying to avoid being the first to confess their love. She leaned forward on her couch, grinning broadly.

"Oh geez... You guys are hopeless," she snickered. She shook her head. "I gotta say something about this for my broadcast... Hmmm..."

She checked the twitter of the mangaka. He was doing a signing event in Akihabara? She grinned.

"Oh yeah... I am there!"

She got up, and pressed her finger to the cable outlet. She'd navigated the internet just fine before... How hard would it be to get herself to Japan?

She converted herself into electricity, zoomed into the outlet... And was immediately awash in a storm of information.

Ohhhh... Craaaap!

Leslie lost track of time easily in this form... It was hard to really conceptualize it, with how fast everything was now going. She tried to focus, to find the right flows, the information streams...

She found an outlet... And burst out. She appeared in front of a huge crowd of shocked Japanese people, many in cosplay, in a comic book store. The surprise mangaka was sitting at a desk, jaw dropped, his pen to a copy of his manga.

Dead silence greeted her. Leslie smiled, and bowed.

"Kon'nichiwa! Watashi wa Willis Leslie! O ai dekite kōeidesu!"

Pandemonium ensued.

It took some more explanations, but Leslie was able to get an autograph, ask some questions, and took a lot of photos with fans. She even posed for a drawing by the mangaka! Though how she was gonna get it home was another issue.

She got a huge crowd. Apparently "Livewire" was already trending on Japanese Twitter. It was the kind of thing she'd dreamed of when she was a little kid, being a star like Sailor Moon or another of her heroes.

Unfortunately the cops showed up. Which is when Leslie abruptly realized she had forgotten her passport. With some hurried apologies, she pulled back, got to a cable outlet, and got back online to head for home.

She decided that she would find Lois' place, and pop in on her. She'd been kind of down lately. She wanted to cheer her up.

And annoy her. But mostly the first thing.

She burst into life in Lois' high vaulted apartment, a grin on her face.

"Hey Lane, I'm-!"

She stopped in shock. The entire place had been wrecked. And in the midst of the debris of furniture and food, sat a depressed looking Lois. Leslie zapped over to her side, making Lois start.

"Lois?! What the hell happened?!" Leslie asked in shock.

"Me?! What happened to you?!" Lois demanded. "Where were you? All day you were-!"

"I was in Japan, long story, what happened here?!" Leslie demanded back, glaring. Lois sighed.

"Okay... Remember that pet chimpanzee I had when I was a kid...?"

"The one you had a stuffed animal of in your dormroom?" Leslie asked. "Yeah... What happened?"

Lois explained... And Leslie blinked several times.

"... The chimpanzee grew to a giant size thanks to space gas, went on a rampage, and Superman and the cops finally knocked him out with that monkey doll of yours?"

"Yes, pretty much," Lois said with a shrug.

"Seriously! Why do I miss all the fun stuff?" Leslie groaned. She shook her head, looking around the ruins of Lois' apartment. Her bed had been thrown up into the ceiling and stuck there somehow. The fridge was in pieces. The carpet was soaked in... Well she didn't want to think about what.

"Wow though... This place is wrecked. Worse than that party when Metropolis U won the regionals. Remember that?"

"No, and neither do you," Lois grumbled. Leslie smirked and nudged Lois playfully.

"Aw, come on, it wasn't all bad-"

"You wrecked my car!" Lois hissed.

"I said I was sorry!" Leslie insisted, "how was I supposed to know the sound system and the braking controls were wired like that?"

"You would have if you weren't drunk off your ass."

Leslie shrugged again.

"Okay, fair enough... Sorry again," she muttered. She beamed.

"But don't worry! I'm going to make it up to you!" She said happily.

"How?" Lois deadpanned.

Clark sighed and rubbed his temples. He landed in his apartment, and changed to his pajamas.

Today... Had been a very long day. Giant chimpanzees, geez.

He did love the incredible, infinite diversity of the universe... But there were times it could be a real pain.

He had been looking forward to seeing Leslie though. A quick scan revealed she wasn't here at the apartment... But she was right outside it.

He walked up to the door, as Leslie opened it up. She beamed, and leaped into his arms to kiss him senseless.

"Mmm... Hey Farmboy," Leslie purred. Clark chuckled and squeezed her tightly.

"Hey Sparkplug," he murmured. Leslie made a face.

"You gonna keep calling me that?"

"I can come up with worse petnames," Clark teased. Leslie chuckled throatily.

"Oho? I'm your pet now, am I~? Should I get the collar?"

"I've got your size in mind," Clark flirted right back. Leslie grinned... Then coughed.

"Ummm... So," she began, "I... Have a favor to ask."

Clark raised an eyebrow.

"The Batman costume is a bit much, but I'll-"

"No, no, that's not it," Leslie said.

"I'm fine with fixing the washing machine," Clark said gently, "you fixed the microwave after all-"

"Ah, no, it's... Lois needs a place to stay," Leslie said carefully, "after-"

"Yeah," Clark said, "and I'd be happy to put her up in a hotel..."

He frowned. Leslie smiled sweetly, and held up her hand.

"I know it's... Tough," she said, "but... I can cover for you. It's just... I mean, she was my roommate in college and well..."

"This... Could get complicated," Clark muttered into her ear. Leslie nodded.

"I know... But don't worry. If all goes well? She'll never even think of associating you with... Ya know..."

Clark sighed heavily. Leslie gave him her best puppy dog expression. He nodded slowly.

"All right Leslie... I trust you."

"I know. And you know what that means to me," Leslie whispered, kissing him back. She turned her head, and held a hand up to her mouth.

"Yo! Lane! Get in here! He's cool with it!" Leslie shouted.

Lois walked up to the apartment door, a suitcase in each hand. She gave Clark a wry look.

"Thanks Smallville," Lois stated, "just so you know, I'm not getting up at the crack of dawn."

"Don't worry," Clark deadpanned, "I'll handle the chores myself. You're a guest, after all."

"Our guest!" Leslie said cheerfully. She zapped over to Lois's side and guided her in. "Let me show you the guest room!"

"I'm still not sure why I'm doing this," Lois muttered.

"Oh, don't worry," Leslie said, "the guest room is totally soundproofed now!"

"That's not what I-Ugh, whatever..."

Omake: At the Daily Planet...

Clark: "I really have to ask, Lois: Why do you and Leslie go at one another so much?"

Lois: "Well, the truth is..."

Years Ago at the University of Metropolis...

Lois: "Oh boy, I can't wait to start my first day at Metropolis U!"

Leslie: "Me neither! I'm Leslie Willis, what's your name?"

Lois: "I'm Lois Lane! Let's be friends!"

Leslie: "Okay!"

In the present...

Lois: "It was all downhill from there."

Clark: "That... Told me nothing."

Lois: "Exactly."

Clark: "Hmm... You actually treat her like one of your exes."

Lois: "What?! No I don't!"

Jimmy: "Oh man! Did Leslie break your heart Miss Lane?"

Lois: "Wha-NO!"

Perry: *nods* "That would explain it. Lois does get on better with Leslie than her other exes, but not by much."

Lois: "WE DIDN'T DATE AT ALL!"

Leslie: *Walking in... Begins sobbing* "I can't believe you won't even acknowledge what we had!"

Lois: "I hate you so goddamned much..."

Leslie: "It's okay! It'll always live on in our memories!"

Lois: "Yeah, I've got the perfect eulogy for you memorized."
