Hello everyone! Here I am again. We're going to see how 2020 was for Sora and Yamato. As always, I couldn't finish it all on time because I'm working on a lot of things at the same time, but I will update it again soon. I hope you still enjoy it.

Chapter 19: 2020 - First Child
Another year was starting. Sora and Yamato had found out a few weeks ago that they were finally expecting their first child and couldn't be happier about it. He couldn't help but smile when he caught her looking at herself in the mirror for the hundredth time that night.
"It's going to take a little while until your belly starts to show." He leaned against the doorframe and gave her a smile when she looked at him.
"I know." She said a little disappointed and rubbed it gently. "But there's actually a baby inside me. We've been waiting for this moment so long."
"I knew our time was going to come soon."
"I just didn't expect to be the last one in our group to get pregnant."
"This isn't a competition, baby."
"I know, I'm sorry." Sora glanced down at her stomach. "I'm sorry, baby. Mommy didn't mean what she said. You're a truly blessing in our lives."
"That you are." Yamato approached her and placed his hand over her belly. "We can't wait until you arrive. You're going to be so loved."
"How are you coping with the idea of being a father?"
"Honestly? Sometimes I feel like I'm dreaming."
"I feel the same way. But it's real, it's happening." She looked at the mirror again and lifted her pajamas slightly. She could barely hold her smile as she stroke her belly gently. "I really can't wait to see my stomach getting big and feel the baby move and kick."
"You're the most beautiful pregnant woman ever. I look at you and feel so happy and proud because I know you are going to be such an amazing mother. And this just proves my point. The way you handle everything with such care, like I knew you would."
"Thank you, baby." She was feeling so radiant she didn't even want to hide her emotions. In fact, she wanted to scream to the whole world she was finally carrying a baby. She approached Yamato and wrapped her arms around his waist, looking up at him. "I have absolutely no doubt this child is having the most wonderful father in the world."
"I'll try my best to be greatest father ever." Yamato placed his hands on her hips and looked at her tenderly.
"You already are. I love you."
"I love you too, baby." He slid one of his hands to the back of her neck after she stood on her toes and captured her lips in a sweet and passionate kiss.
After some minutes, they finally pulled away from each other and Sora rested her head on his chest. He placed his hand over her belly, above her own hand, and they remained that way for a while.
"I think now we can tell everyone, don't you?"
"Absolutely. The first trimester is almost over, so the risk of a spontaneous miscarriage isn't so high anymore."
"Everyone is going to be so thrilled about it. I already can't wait to see their reactions."
"Me neither. We should have a family dinner here a couple of weeks from now."
"I completely agree." She moved away from him and looked into his eyes. "But you know a family dinner includes the rest of the Chosen Children, right?"
"I do, but I was hoping we could do something with only our families at first. As happy and excited as we are, I still don't want to turn it into a massive thing, you know?"
"I completely agree with you. It is a big thing, but I'd rather tell them separately. We'll be able to enjoy it more."
"Exactly."
"It's settled then. I'll call everyone and tell them we're throwing a dinner two weekends from now."
"Great."
Sora felt anxious and apprehensive the whole Saturday. She couldn't believe how fast time had gone by, and she and Yamato were only a few hours away from telling their families they were expecting their first child. Yamato couldn't help but smile when he walked into the kitchen and caught her singing a song in a low tone. He leaned against the wall and admired her until she noticed he was there.
"I may have gotten carried away." She said with an embarrassed smile.
"Oh, don't mind me. Just pretend I'm not here."
"You're finding this whole thing quite amusing, aren't you?"
"Indeed, I am." His smile turned into a grin and he approached her. "I finished cleaning the living room."
"Great. We need to clean the kitchen too, but it will have to wait, as you can see."
"Do you need help with something?"
"No, I'm almost done here. I think."
"I can already tell it looks delicious, even from the smell."
"I don't mean to brag, but I think so too."
"That's bragging in my book." He teased with a grin.
"Shut up!"
"It's fun teasing you." He placed his hands on her waist.
"It's your favorite thing to do." Sora pressed her lips against his briefly.
"I can't really deny that. You can leave the dessert to me."
"But you're doing the cleaning."
"And you cooked the main dish. It's only fair I do the dessert."
"Let's do it together?"
"That sounds great to me."
Sora took a look at the table full of people and felt emotional. She tried to sneak out of her chair silently, but was caught in the end of the hall by Yamato.
"Hey, is everything okay?" He placed his hands on her arms.
"Yeah, everything is fine. I'm just thinking about their reactions and how much love we're gonna get, that's all."
"They will be very happy about it, definitely." He reached for her hand and their fingers laced together. "We're going to tell them now. Are you ready?"
"Let's do it." She grinned at him and they walked back into the living room.
"Sora, are you alright?" Toshiko asked with a concerned tone.
"Eh… can we have a moment of attention, please? We have something to say."
The entire room went silent, even little Kenichi. Sora felt even more nervous, but her deep breaths and Yamato's light squeeze on her hand gave her the confidence to proceed.
"So… we are expecting our first child."
"What?!" Takeru exclaimed, barely able to contain his excitement and smile. "I'm finally going to be an uncle?"
"That's right." Yamato nodded, not at all that different from his brother.
"That's such a great news!" Kimi stood up and went to hug her sister-in-law. "I'm so happy for you! Congratulations!"
"We know how long you've been trying to have a baby and now it's time to celebrate."
"Oh, we're doing that already."
"I have no doubt you're going to be an amazing mother." Haruhiko stood up and hugged Sora tighter. "I'm so happy and proud of you."
"Thanks, dad." She returned the hug. "I have to confess I get terrified sometimes. I don't know if I have what it takes to be one."
"Believe me, you do." Toshiko replied as she joined them. "You've always had it in you."
"Thank you, mom."
"How far are you?"
"Do you know whether it's a boy or a girl?"
"We just reached the fourth month. We couldn't see it yet, but hopefully soon. I'm very curious to know."
"Do you have a feeling about it?"
"I'm thinking it'll be a girl, but I'm fine with a boy too."
"Every mother says that." Natsuko said lightly. "I thought I was having a girl too, and then Yamato arrived."
"I didn't know that." Takeru burst into laughter. "This is amazing!"
"No, it's not." Yamato protested. "Besides, I'm not the focus here. Me being a father is."
"Seeing you both this happy makes me really happy as well." Haruhiko said. "You waited two years for this moment."
"So many times I thought it wouldn't happen." Sora glanced down at it and smiled tenderly before looking at Yamato. "I would have lost it if Yamato wasn't by my side and wasn't so supportive."
"You're welcome." He approached her and placed an arm around her shoulders, kissing her on the cheek. "You were very supportive too."
She gave him a quick hug before turning to their families. "We wanted to tell you much sooner. It was very difficult having to wait, but we wanted to make sure there wasn't a miscarriage or something."
"We completely understand it, Sora." Kimi assured her. "There's no need to justify yourself. Now it's time to enjoy your pregnancy and get ready to be really pampered. I already can't wait to throw you a baby shower. I'm so excited!"
"I have no doubt Kimi is going to be the favorite aunt."
"I think that's pretty much established." Sora couldn't help but laugh. "The amount of love we're getting is so amazing. I feel so blessed."
"I can't wait to know the gender. I really want to have a niece, so you better have chosen a girl, brother."
"Hopefully we'll get to find out in about two weeks."
"Does anyone want dessert?" Sora walked into the living room carrying a bowl and placed it on the table.
"It looks delicious. Did you make it yourself?"
"No, actually we both did it. Sometimes we like cooking together."
"That's cute." Natsuko grabbed a bowl and a spoon. "Would you mind if I…?"
"Not at all." She shook her head with a smile. "Please, don't be shy and pour yourself some dessert."
.
Sora was getting impatient with Yamato taking so long to come. She had lost account of how many times she had checked her watch and was beginning to think she was going to miss her appointment with the OB doctor that afternoon.
"I'm sorry for taking so long." He apologized as he quickly got into their car. "Something came up in the last minute and I got held up."
"That's okay. We just have to hurry if we want to make it on time."
"Is there still enough time?"
"Not really, there's a big chance we'll arrive late. I hope we can find a free spot in her agenda."
"I'm sorry, baby. I promise it won't happen again."
"These things happen, baby. There's no need to beat yourself for it."
"I know, but it's our baby we're talking about."
"I'm sure everything will be fine with our baby."
"I'm just curious to know the gender. Maybe we'll finally get to see it."
"Maybe today is our lucky day."
Luckily for them, someone couldn't attend to the appointment and canceled it, so they got that free spot.
"Hello, Sora. How are you today?"
"I'm very good, thank you."
"And how is this little one?"
"Last time we checked he or she was pretty good."
"You still don't know the gender?"
"We couldn't see it yet. We're hoping we can today."
"Alright, let's see it. You can lie down on the bed."
Sora couldn't describe how emotional she felt everytime she had an ultrasound. Seeing her baby in the monitor was one of the most amazing feelings she's ever experienced. Yamato wasn't that different than her, and he looked away to hide his tears.
"Hey." She looked at him and squeezed his hand gently, causing him to look at her. "You don't have to be ashamed of showing your emotions. It's our child."
"I know, I know."
"So, doctor, do you think we can see if it's a boy or a girl?"
"Absolutely." The doctor pointed to the screen. "Congratulations, you're gonna have a beautiful baby girl."
"It's a girl?!"
"It is."
"Did you see that?" Sora covered her mouth with her hand and turned to him. "We're gonna have a little girl!"
"Yes, we are." He leaned over and kissed her briefly, then hugged her tight. "I'm so happy! I love you so much!"
"I love you so much too." She cupped his face and kissed him again. "I'm happy as well. Our baby girl."
"Doctor, can we have a picture of the ultrasound to show our families?"
"Of course. I'm gonna have it printed, just one moment."
"Great, thank you."
