Kakashi POV
"You may have won the battle. But I have won the war" Kukui said to Mizuki.
"You bastard... you stalled" Mizuki spat out with venom. I knocked him out with a chop
"And that's a wrap. Scroll please" Kakashi said. I pulled out the scroll with the scroll inside and gave it to him
"Tell the Hokage to hide it better... Or burn it" Kukui said tiredly.
"It's weird that you sealed it away but understandable. It would have been a burden to carry. Need help?" I asked after seeing his shoulder wound
"Yeah, actually can you take me to the hospital?" Kukui asked tiredly, finally passing out. I caught his body
"Will he be okay?" Iruka asked after seeing Kukui's body fall limp.
"He should be. Mizuki was going easy on him" The girl said next to me. She sounded somewhat worried.
"Yeah. He should at the very least be crippled. He's lucky he's alive" I said, now carrying Kukui in a fireman's carry. A bunch of anbu made it to the clearing.
"Kakashi-senpai!" A tiger-masked anbu called out in worry before seeing the kid I was carrying.
"Tora, take kukui to the hospital. Be quick too" I said, putting away my book. I didn't want anything to happen to it. Nothing should interrupt the sanctity of icha icha.
Tora grabbed kukui and went in the direction of the shinobi hospital.
"What should we do sempai?" Asked an owl masked anbu.
"Take the girl home and the rest of you can come with me and Iruka" I replied lazily
"Wait! Why can't I go with you?" The girl asked me. I sighed I hated this part a lot. Genin couldn't understand they weren't allowed to deal with this kind of stuff yet.
"Well little girl. This is adult matters." I said and the girl glared at me. "Owl take her away!" I exclaimed before beginning to shunshin to the Hokage's office. I had a feeling the Hokage wouldn't be a happy man. At least there were no casualties
"Wait no!" I heard the girl exclaim in the background. Iruka and the other anbu were following me as well.
Eventually, we made it to the Hokage's office.
"Ah Kakashi I see you have one less person with you. Report" Hiruzen said warmly then sternly. He wasn't happy indeed
"Well-"
Hiruzen POV
I sighed and took a puff from my pipe. Kakashi couldn't report much and neither could the Uchiha survivor that helped kukui. She left after a few minutes to find help. Kukui fought off Mizuki until help arrived. The scroll was recovered and nobody died. I'd need to talk to Kukui once he woke up. The medics said he should be up by morning. I needed to hear his account of what happened. A genin shouldn't have been fighting a traitorous chunin for almost an hour. I needed to chew out someone for this.
The anbu should have arrived long ago and nobody should have been injured.
Sadly reality isn't that kind. Mizuki luckily was toying with Kukui and he got captured and sent to T&I. I wondered what kind of information my wayward student gave Mizuki. Knowing him he likely shared little to none. Anything would be useful though.
Ibiki should be having a field day with Mizuki at the moment. I expect that report to arrive in a few minutes.
Danzo called for a council meeting. I'm due to arrive in a few minutes. The Warhawk would likely be trying to use this as a bid for power. The hokage role has always been something he wanted. He'd do anything for the role.
Some days I regret not executing Danzo for orchestrating the death of over half of the Uchiha clan. Because of him, we lost many good men and women. The best of which was Itachi Uchiha. The kinslayer. But for some reason, I can't kill him. I don't know why.
I know he has his uses but he deserves death for being a traitor to Konoha.
I opened a drawer from my desk. I pulled out some documents... With Danzo's actions Konoha was lacking compared to other villages
Konoha needs more power. We already have plenty of up-and-coming shinobi and potential shinobi who could be the future of the village. But with the Uchiha and Senju clans being reduced to 50 total with 49 of them being Uchiha and Tsunade no longer being in Konoha. We needed more power, Orochimaru was preparing for something big. With the forbidden scroll being his target we could only assume the worst would happen if he had it. I elected to keep it with me at all times until better placement for it was decided. Maybe I could push for it to be destroyed.
Edo Tensei was most likely the target of Orochimaru's gaze. Nothing good would come out of it
Tobirama-sensei's sickest jutsu. I didn't even know why he created the jutsu. No good would come out if Orochimaru had the jutsu.
I wished it were me that sealed the Kyuubi into Naruto some days. If minato were still here Orochimaru would have been killed. No point in mourning anymore than
I felt a slight breeze enter the room. "Yes, tora?" I asked looking at the anbu
"The council has assembled," Tora simply said. No emotion was shown
I sighed once more. The thrice damned council got on my nerves with their constant bickering. It was mainly Danzo arguing with the council over small things or the civilian council. "Thanks tora." I said
Tora shunshinned away. Back to the anbu headquarters or another mission.
I threw a kunai behind the bookcase. An anbu with a blank mask was seen. I wasn't even surprised anymore. "Bear, clean it up," I said tiredly. I shunshinned to the council meeting
Kukui POV
I stirred around. I opened my eyes... I was alive... Good Kakashi didn't let me bleed out. Mizuki didn't kill me. I got lucky. I placed a finger on the bed and sensed an anbu. They promptly disappeared. I decided to see if anything happened with the system. A quest maybe
I looked at my screens.

I was surprised... I didn't think I could upgrade the system... Maybe I could unlock more stats?
'Stats' I called out mentally. It was a while since I had done this.

I had an idea now... My quest for power had three locked requirements... Maybe I had to unlock those stats? That really sucked, I'd make do though. Also... When the fuck would I get a different title? I was still waiting for that.
'So the plot thickens' I thought. At least this made sure I had something else to gr- Oh fuck I didn't know how to grind willpower. It's wonderful... Why not vitality or something? I had an idea on how to grind it. Maybe by just grinding my other stats...
Someone knocked on my door. I straightened my backup. I knew it had to be the Hokage.
'Ooh boy here we go' I thought as the door opened."Hello hokage-sama" I greeted respectfully
"Hello kukui-kun. I presume you know why I am here today" The Hokage said warmly and I nodded
"I do hokage-sama. May I ask how long I have been out first?" I asked curiously
"Ah you've only been out for a day kukui-kun. Now we can move on to more serious matters" The hokage said, going through some hand seals. I looked alarmed. "Don't be alarmed kukui-kun I'm just setting up a silencing seal" Hiruzen said and I calmed down.
"Okay," I said as he finished the seals.
"Now I need you to report to me everything you see, heard, felt from Mizuki," Hiruzen said bluntly
I breathed in and out. This would take a few minutes
"I see, Is that it?" Hiruzen asked, taking a puff from his pipe.
"Yeah" I said. I had told him everything concerning Mizuki and who was the one who took the scroll
"Good, You will be discharged shortly. You have two days until team selections. You served Konoha well kukui-kun. Be proud" Hiruzen finished shunshining away.
I had a lot to do. I had my ass kicked by Mizuki who was toying with me. Was this the gap between chunin levels of skill and jonin levels? I had a lot to work on. I needed to actually learn some jutsu and I needed to learn some medical jutsu. There was a lot I needed to work on actually. I had that jutsu from the forbidden scroll... It was pretty useless... I could make it work.
Chakra sucking seemed pretty useless but it could be used well.
I sat up and looked at my hand. I was now a shinobi, I was confident I could pass a test any jonin would give me. It'd be tough though.
I kinda wished at least one of my friends graduated early as well. Nervousness was setting in again. I barely made it out alive and I was weak... I needed to train a lot. I needed to set up a schedule. So much to do. So little time.
I decided to not worry about it too much.
Now I wondered what my friends were up to... It's been a while since I have seen them. I wished I could talk to them... I placed my finger on the bed. I felt nobody here, not even an anbu. That sucked. Speaking of my friends.
Naruto.
Mizuki told me Naruto was the nine-tailed demon fox. I could bring this up with Hiruzen and try to get him to tell naruto. I knew he could tell him... I needed time to think about that. I couldn't just tell him. Hiruzen would probably be the best option. Damn I was caught in between a rock and a hard place
Suddenly the door opened. "You can leave now"
"Okay" I replied, getting out of the bed and leaving.
"Kukui there you are! I've been looking all over for you" I heard one uzumaki naruto call out from behind me. Thankfully, I was walking home on a quiet path. 'You could tell him he's the kyuubi jinchurriki' A voice in my head said. It was not the voice of reason so I ignored it... for now
"Hey naruto!" I greeted after turning around.
He saw my headband and grinned. "You did it! You actually graduated!" Naruto exclaimed before punching me in the face. "Why didn't cha tell me?" He then asked.
I put my hand behind my head sheepishly whilst rubbing my cheek with my other hand. It was sore. Not as sore as it was when I told him I was taking early graduation... last minute
Flashback
"WHAT?!" Naruto shouted in surprise.
"Im taking early graduation naruto. Actually, I need to be there in a half hour" I said sheepishly... I forgot to tell Naruto a while ago.
"You forgot to tell me! I thought we'd be training over the summer! But you're leaving us behind" Naruto exclaimed in anger. He was walking toward me slowly
"I'm not leaving you all behind naruto... Ino said I should go see the world as soon as I could" I said nervously, throwing ino under the bus... The look naruto had promised pain.
"You told Ino and not me!" Naruto shouted... I was lucky I knew he wasn't mad at me for graduating early... He would have just liked to be told
"I forgot... Ino was the only one there at the time" I said as I hit the wall behind me. Naruto kept walking slowly toward me. I knew I could escape. But I didn't want to hurt naruto. That was the last thing I wanted to do.
"You forgot... YOU FORGOT..." Naruto shouted. He punched me in the face as hard as he could...
"Ow.." I said climbing out of the earth
I was sent flying away.
Flashback end
"Sorry naruto. I had to do something important and I was actually going to grab something to eat and then come and tell everyone" I said less nervously. Naruto hit hard.
Naruto calmed down. He grinned "Alright! Next time something happens just tell us sooner. Ino, Shikamaru, and Chouji are having some kind of clan meeting so it's just us!" Naruto exclaimed. It's been a while since it has been just us two.
"Hm well, what do you want to do then naruto? I have a bit of time before team selections... No pranking though. Can't do that anymore" I said that last part sadly. I would have loved to prank some poor sap in honor of me being a shinobi. But that'd break some law
"Aw I really wanted to stink bomb the mean barbecue restaurant," Naruto said sadly. Ah yes the ripoff Yakiniku Q restaurant. Man that place sucked
"Same... How about we have a spar?" I asked. I hadn't sparred with Naruto in a long time. I wanted to test his skills... Naruto liked fighting me anyways. I'd love to do a full-blown spar with naruto.
Naruto smiled... He'd been asking for a chance to kick my ass. "I'm gonna kick your ass kukui! You won't know what hit ya" Naruto said getting into his fighting stance.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Not here naruto. Let's go to a better place" I said to the hyperactive blond.
He gave a bashful smile... "Oh yeah right... Sorry. So where we goin? Our usual spot?" Naruto asked curiously
"Yeah, our usual spot in the meadow," I smiled. I'd miss the place... even though I'd still be able to go there but probably not as much.
Naruto nodded and we began to leave the area. A comfortable silence fell upon us
We walked until our sights began to change from the village area to the meadow...
I looked at naruto. "Okay naruto, Today we're going to have a no holds barred spar. You can use anything you want to beat me" I said and Naruto smiled. I grabbed my Tanto and its sheath. I'd be using it as a blunt weapon. I needed it if I wanted to put Naruto down. I just was thankful his fuinjutsu wasn't battle-ready yet... I hoped
"Really even traps?" Naruto asked with a glint in his eye. I knew I needed to be fast to beat him. His traps were a pain in the ass
"Yes even your traps," I said knowing I'd regret this later
Naruto's smile turned into a grin. "You're going to regret that!" Naruto exclaimed joyfully. I knew I was in for a fun fight. I could dance without risk. I grinned happily. I couldn't dance in a serious situation. But with a friend(Mainly naruto) I could dance as much as I wanted.
Naruto saw my grin. "Well Naruto, let's dance," I said, jumping backward. Naruto looked confused for a second before he understood and he jumped back as well... We needed to prepare. Well he did. I threw some kunai at non vital points, I rushed toward naruto. He rushed toward me with a sealing tag in his hand. I ducked and a bunch of paint came out. I swung my tanto at his ribs
Naruto blocked it with a kunai. "You need to do better kukui!" Naruto exclaimed and suddenly I got sprayed with water sending me flying
"Damn fuinjutsu" I muttered, shaking excess water off. I looked at Naruto and he was running at me, doing hand signs. 'Shit' I thought as he finished the jutsu.
"WIND STYLE: GALE PALM" Naruto yelled out and a rush of wind came out of his palm toward me. I was sent flying back even further than before I flipped and landed.
"Okay asshole, Lets dance" I muttered, activating sprinting. With blinding speed I rushed at naruto who looked shocked. He went through the same hand signs.
I kawarimied behind naruto before he could finish the last seal. Quickly I kicked the back of his head. A seal with a bunch of neon paint activated. I kawarimied out of the way, as did naruto.
"Aw man, I hoped you'd get hit by that one," Naruto said sadly. Asshole. He pulled out another seal.
'Oh fuck me he has more' I thought deactivating sprinting. Suddenly another huge blast of water rushed toward me but I dodged it with kawarimi. A storm of feathers awaited me. I was blinded 'The whole never leave an uzumaki five seconds of prep time thing was true' I thought now feeling a fist hit the back of my head
"Ha! Kukui you need to go up your game. You're too slow" Naruto playfully mocked.
'To slow huh?' I thought activating sprinting. Suddenly Naruto felt a fist in the face when I punched him, sending him flying away. I began running toward him when he was sent into the sky.
"Gale palm" I muttered as he flew further into the sky. Small explosive tags rained over me... Not enough to kill but they'd hurt like all hell though. Experience was something I had. Using quick thinking I kawarimied rapidly away. Another gale palm was sent in my direction. Pain consumed my being as I was sent into a tree. Naruto had gotten better for sure, Our fight would be legendary if I had jutsu. I unsheathed my tanto and secured it in my grip with some ninja wire. Naruto used a gale palm to send himself flying toward me. I secured the sheath on my waist. Didn't want that to go anywhere.
I jumped up into the sky. 'Sprinting' I called out mentally. I'd beat him. I channeled fire chakra into my blade and saw a small ember surround it. I was hoping for more but still.

'Well that was convenient' I thought. 'Well here goes nothing' I thought. Rip off hinokami kagura go! I spun around in the sky fanning the flames of my tanto and a wheel of fire began to surround me.
"That's one bad ass jutsu kukui! But that ain't enough to beat me!" Naruto exclaimed, pulling out an explosive tag and throwing it at me...
It was do or wake up with plenty of pain. I spun even faster...
I cut the explosive tag in half.
"Oh cra-" Naruto was cut off when I stopped spinning. I channeled a lot of chakra to my fist as I stopped channeling chakra to my tanto. I punched Naruto hard in the gut. He was sent rocketing into the earth. With a loud crack being heard
"I win" I said raggedly when I landed. I sheathed my tanto. He made me work for it. "You made me work hard for it... Naruto" I breathed out.
Naruto got up from the small crater he left in the earth. He laughed. "Always with your tricks and last-minute powerups..." He laughed. "Looks like I'm not ready yet," Naruto said to himself sadly but also some emotion I couldn't tell
"What do you mean you aren't ready yet?" I asked curiously. I wonder what he meant. It could have been plenty of things really.
He looked bashful at the moment. "I'm not ready to be a ninja yet... I need to be stronger first" Naruto said sadly...
I pat him on the shoulder. "You're not ready. Not because you're weak but because you keep saying you are. Naruto Im pretty strong but I'm not the best. I could mop the floor with everyone in our class. You nearly won, Don't sell yourself short" I said sagely.
"I can't even beat Sasuke-teme," Naruto whined.
I slapped him. "He has been training far longer than you. You are catching up. Besides you can't go all out" I said knowing that this naruto could mop sasuke like he was a scrub if they were to spar in a full brawl. Naruto's traps were op as hell.
"Thanks kukui" Naruto said
"Boys... May I ask why there are holes all over this meadow" We turned around and saw an anbu. We both gulped
"Oh fuck"
Unknown pov
'Such wasted potential. Young Tanku could thrive in the shadows' I thought looking at the file of the most recent early graduate. Kukui Tanku. Rooted out a traitor and caused the capture of two traitors. All before having a team. He is extremely cold, But loves battle(I can get rid of that) Also resourceful. When sparring the weapon he used the kawarimi repeatedly and chakra flow. To beat the weapon that had a wider arsenal.
He needs some work but with enough work. That work would bear fruit.
Sadly I can't simply just mold him. He's allied with too many people in high places. Maybe my left eye could be of use. No hiruzen would notice. My old friend is too perceptive when it comes to most.
Too bad. I have to do this the old fashioned way. Gain trust and break it. The way of the shinobi.
There was so much needed to do for the good of the village.
More soldiers were needed. Konoha's strength needed a boost.
I needed to contact an old friend. I could knock out two birds with one stone. I wonder what he could do with a few sharingan of mine?
Yes, that would be my next course of action. I needed to be ready...
Team selection day
So today was the day. Today We were getting teams of our own. Today was the true start of my journey to power. I thought straightening up. Daikoku was now listing off another team. I paid extra attention to this one. I had a good feeling about this one
"Team 3 will be Kukui tanku...

Well this chapter was a good filler chapter I think. Naruto and kukui's friendship developed some more. Also this is a very special chapter. 69,420 words And i have finished nano... But I need to add some filler words first. This chapter absolutely kicked my ass near the start. The fight between kukui and naruto was great. I loved writing it. I know I'm not the best at writing fights but I think it was a great fight. I hope you enjoyed the chapter anyways. Also, how do you feel about kukui upgrading his gamer system? I want to have it upgrade some more in the future. Any suggestions for upgrades are very welcome.
So now about the teams. I have decided on the teammates but not the sensei. I'm thinking about having Hayate Gekko be the sensei. I have no other ideas yet, I'd have loved for my SI to have kakashi as a sensei but hey not everything can be perfect. There are plenty of other things I am thinking about for this fic. By the way dear reader who left a good review, Your suggestion of Kukui leaning into the blood jutsu is welcome, I've been thinking about it for a while now. Anyways thanks for the review!

Danzo will be getting more involved in the fic and so will others. Hell I'm thinking of involving a lot of other people and things soon. I have so many ideas I want to execute and i want to see you all read and hopefully enjoy them.

Your options are neji, lee, tenten, sai, yakumo(Filler character who I might introduce later), Someone from the sound village(Leaning into the whole Orochimaru stuff here. Still need to show his reaction to mizuki failing), Or another Oc.
