Chapter 15

Last time:

Momiji asked the most important question though, "Why are you asking us if we want to go to Shibuya and Harajuku if you don't know anything about it Naruto-kun?"

Naruto then said in a cold tone, "That bastard Nezumi is there. I'm going to have his head for attacking our family and causing the destruction of the Hien Village. We're going there for blood, not shopping. Now who is coming with me?"

All of sudden, the room temperature dropped and Naruto saw the looks in his wives eyes; the look of hardened kunoichis. They all said simply, "I'm in."

"Then we're leaving as soon as arrangements are made." said Naruto.

Meanwhile….

Somewhere in Shibuya Nezumi got the ice cold sensation of someone walking over his grave. He had ditched those following him for the time being and didn't know why he felt that way.

Soon he would be running as if the very hounds of hell were right behind him….

The Haybusa Village

Aoi was in her room reading the letter that Yomiko sent her. Once she got past the gibberish about reassuring her that Nezumi would be dealt with, she got to the coded message that Yomiko had sent her:

Aoi-sama-

I received a letter from Obaba-sama that Naruto-sama killed her. I'm assuming she foresaw this and it was sent out previous to her death. I'm wondering if there is any way you can confirm this. I have had no contact with her since. I understand the Black Spider Clan attacked the Hayabusa Village and the attack was repelled but I know little more.

At any rate, Obaba-sama informed me I was free of my obligations to the Black Spider Clan and that my loyalty and services should be transferred to her heir, namely you, Aoi-sama. Know that you have my complete and unwavering support. The next in line to lead the Black Spider clan is undoubtedly Genshin. He is the strongest after all. He does not know of my position here and I have no desire to serve him or the Black Spider clan any longer. I believe the clan's association with the fiends will truly lead to their demise. I await your reply.

Aoi was speechless. Yomiko was a very valuable kunoichi and Aoi was a bit stunned at the revelation that Yomiko wanted to serve her. Since Kasumi and Ayane were already in contact with the Mugen Tenshin clan Aoi certainly had no need to spy upon them. Besides, she'd promised herself not to keep secrets from Naruto anymore. After Naruto and Hinata shared their secret of being from Konoha in the distant past she wouldn't break their trust. On the other hand Yomiko would surely be killed if her cover was blown and Aoi didn't want that to happen to her friend.

Aoi quickly penned a coded letter to Yomiko. After writing a fake letter thanking Yomiko for her concern she wrote the real message in code:

Yomiko-

Obaba is indeed dead by my husband's hand. The invasion of the Hayabusa Village by the Black Spider Clan was a disaster for them that resulted in Momiji and I being captured by the Okami triplets. It was not Obaba's intention for this to happen but the kidnapping of the two of us led to Naruto declaring a vendetta. Though Naruto did not kill him; he defeated and handicapped Genshin and killed Obaba to settle the score when he rescued us. There was no avoiding it and my loyalty is completely with my husband now. As such please consider yourself a retainer to the Uzumaki Clan now.

I do not wish for you to be put in danger Yomiko. For now simply continue to act as Hayate-sama's secretary. There is no need to spy anymore unless the Mugen Tenshin Clan turns on the Uzumakis which will not happen because Hayate-sama's very own sisters are also wed to Naruto.

We are currently preparing to leave for Tokyo to hunt down Nezumi. Once we return I will contact you and we will decide what to do then. Until then stay safe my friend.

She quickly rolled up the scroll and gave it to Naruto to send back to Hayate informing the Mugen Tenshin clan that they would need accommodations for Naruto and his five wives in Shibuya. By the time Hayate's reply would get back to them in the evening Naruto was positive that all their preparations would be complete.

That evening….

Naruto and the girls were packed up and armed to the teeth. They were all in their black stealth gear that had the Uzumaki swirl stitched on the back and were wearing masks and headgear to completely hide their identities. Seeing all his wives in their skintight black leather and Kevlar uniforms had Naruto thinking about how hot they all looked and he was really considering doing other things than going on this mission….

'God damn they look good! I've never seen them in their combat gear all together….' thought Naruto.

'Well, you could always take your vixens back into your bedroom and have your way with them. I doubt they'd mind too much.' suggested Kurama.

'No, no!….Must focus on the mission and revenge instead of those incredible bodies. God what I'm going to do with them when I get them back home….' Naruto was mentally frothing at the mouth by now. 'I'll have them all walking with a limp!' he thought lustfully.

'My oh my! Your old master Jiraiya would be proud kid!' laughed Kurama. 'I'm sure the old pervert is cheering you on from the afterlife.'

Naruto shuddered mentally. 'Oh man….I've got to get my hormones under control. The last thing I need is to be driven to distraction on a mission….I'm so hard now it's painful.'

Naruto was brought out of his mental musings by Kasumi who was smiling mischievously behind her mask. Her eyes were sparkling with delight that she and the other girls could have such an effect on him. She whispered to him, "Are you okay Naruto-kun? I couldn't help but notice a certain something was standing firmly at attention. Do you need help with that?"

Naruto almost fainted. Why did kunoichis have to be so damn sexy and know it? They were all enjoying this way too much from the devious looks in their eyes. Fortunately he was saved when Akio from the aviary showed up with a message from Hayate. "I have a message from the Mugen Tenshin clan for you Naruto-sama."

Naruto thought 'Thank god for a distraction!' and said "I'll take it here Akio." Unrolling it, Naruto confirmed who their contacts were in Tokyo and soon they were travelling to Tokyo under the cover of darkness. It was only about a three hour trip at ninja speeds and they were soon admiring the many sights of Tokyo from the shadows. Naruto and Hinata hadn't ever seen anything like this but the other girls had. They made it to the contact point and found no one was there. Kasumi and Ayane knew where the safe house the Mugen Tenshin clan used was and signaled the others to follow.

The group found the safe house demolished and blood was everywhere. The stench was atrocious. The two Mugen Tenshin ninjas that were stationed there had been dead for hours. Naruto and his wives carefully examined the area for traps but found none. What they did find was the pair had been murdered ritually because there were numerous symbols painted on the walls and they were cut open in the exact same pattern. "They had their hearts and livers cut out." said Hinata examining the remains with her byakugan.

Naruto was preparing to seal up the two bodies to return them to their families when they heard a noise outside and a lot of cursing. The six quickly concealed themselves in the darkness as two Police officers with flashlights came in. One of the policemen saw the scene and quickly ran back out. The noise of him vomiting outside echoed throughout the place. The other policeman was a bit green but managed to control himself. "Our contacts are dead Inspector." he said into his cell phone.

A man in a suit wearing a badge came in with two other officers and took in the scene. He lit up a cigarette. "God damn. Killed just like the rest. I thought these ninjas were supposed to be unbeatable." He motioned in a man behind him. "You may as well come in and verify things Professor Muna. There's no doubt in my mind this was the Yoru Clan's doing."

A young, frail looking man came in and adjusted his round glasses. He carefully started examining the symbols on the wall and got out a tablet to confirm them. He was making sounds absentmindedly like "hmmm," and "ahhhh" as he confirmed things. As his hand traced along the wall he felt something firm but squishy. Squeezing it tightly he shined his flashlight on it and into the face of a very pissed Ayane who wasn't happy that the little pervert was squeezing her right breast.

Her red eyes flashed with anger and he yelled "AHHHHH!" as he dropped his flashlight.

The next thing Professor Muna knew he was being gripped from behind with a kunai at his neck. Ayane hissed, "How dare you grope me you little weasel! I ought to cut you open right now!"

The Inspector and his two men drew their pistols and shined their flashlights on the irate Ayane and terrified Muna. "Don't move girl! My men and I have you outnumbered and outgunned. If you don't release him right now the consequences will be dire."

"This little pervert did his best to feel me up!" she said angrily. "That's sexual harassment! I have every right to beat the living shit out of him. If you and your men are really cops then you should arrest him."

The Inspector retorted, "This is a crime scene, how do we know you aren't responsible for this bloodbath? Let Professor Muna go!" They heard a bird call outside and shurikens flew out of the corners and disarmed the Inspector and his men. The Inspector was wide eyed as he suddenly felt a hand over his mouth and a kunai at his throat. His eyes darted back and forth and saw his men were in the same position he was. Sweat was trickling down his brow when he heard a noise above him.

"Aren't you lucky that we are the good guys?" said Naruto from the ceiling as his blue eyes bored into the Inspector's brown ones. The Inspector did his best to keep up a strong front but the cold blue eyes staring into his made him feel like he was staring down the barrel of a gun. Naruto dropped from the ceiling and carefully collected the guns from the floor. "Hinata, do they have other weapons?"

Hinata appeared out of apparently nowhere with the policeman that got sick slumped over her shoulder. As she sat the man in the floor the inspector could see her curvaceous figure silhouetted in the low light and she said, "The Inspector has a single shot pistol in a holster attached to his back belt loop. He has a pair of brass knuckles in his right pants pocket and a stiletto blade hidden in a strap inside his right sock. He's also carrying six clips to reload his pistol but since we already seized that I doubt they will be of any use to him. Take his phone in his holster too." Naruto quickly relieved the Inspector of his weapons and phone.

The inspector watched frightened as Hinata repeated the process with his three men (including the one that got sick outside and was now unconscious thanks to Hinata). Finally Naruto went over to Professor Muna and motioned to him. "He's got an automatic pencil in his left shirt pocket he might hurt himself with." said Hinata.

Naruto glared at Muna and took his automatic pencil. "Don't think you're going to get off easy after feeling up Ayane-chan." he said coldly. Muna made a frightened 'Eep!' and looked a little paler. Naruto came back over to the Inspector and said, "You can release him Momiji." The Inspector found the presence of the woman (obviously from the breasts against his back) behind him was gone and he was free to move. "How about we talk inspector? We are from the Uzumaki clan and came here only to find our Mugen Tenshin allies were already dead. Maybe we can help each other." said Naruto. "Who is this Yoru Clan you mentioned?"

"Why should I tell you and why would I trust you?" asked the Inspector.

"Because we could have killed you effortlessly Inspector Otaki." replied Hinata. "The fact your Professor Muna still has his manhood after what he pulled with Ayane should be proof enough we're not enemies."

Inspector Otaki was stunned. "How did you know my name and where all our equipment was? Are you a mind reader?!"

"Maybe something like that." answered Hinata vaguely. All she'd done was read his embossed name on his badge with her byakugan.

Naruto interjected, "So Otaki, What do you say we chat about the Yoru Clan?"

"Release my men first." said Otaki.

"You're in no position to make demands Otaki." said Naruto. "This Yoru Clan murdered some of our allies and we want to know why. You'll find that cooperating with us will be to both our benefits."

Otaki nodded. "Just as long as you don't hurt my men I'll cooperate. Maybe you will be willing to help us."

Naruto nodded. "Tell me what the situation is Inspector and how our Mugen Tenshin Allies are involved." He motioned over to a table in the corner of the room. "Let's sit over there."

Otaki carefully walked over to the table and sat down with Naruto. "The Yoru Clan is a murderous ninja cult. Professor Muna is our expert on them. We made arrangements to hire the Mugen Tenshin ninjas to gather information on them and help wipe them out. As you can see they failed."

Naruto nodded. "We came here to hunt down a rogue ninja that tried to murder a member of our clan. We were supposed to receive help from our Mugen Tenshin allies but it seems that's not possible now. The Uzumaki Clan can take over the job of taking out this Yoru Clan for the right price. How much are you offering for the job?"

Otaki reached in his coat pocket and brought out a contact. "I was here to establish that amount." he said as he handed the contract to Naruto.

Naruto looked over the contract and said, "This is genuine. Release everyone but Muna." Kasumi and Aoi released the two awake policemen and brought the third around with smelling salts before the faded back into the shadows. Naruto motioned to the three police. "You three just sit tight. Once the Inspector and I have come to an agreement we will return your weapons."

"What about Professor Muna?" asked one of the police.

"He felt up an angry kunoichi. Do you really expect us to let him go without some form of punishment? She's shown remarkable restraint by not gutting him like a fish." said Naruto in a no-nonsense tone. "Hinata-chan, take a look at this contract would you?"

Hinata came over and studied the contract. She shook her head. "10 million yen up front and an additional 40 million when the job of exterminating the Yoru Clan is done. We'll also need you to provide a stocked safe house since this one is compromised."

Naruto nodded. "Take it or leave it. If the Mugen Tenshin Clan comes here I doubt they'll be as generous as us Uzumakis since they've already lost two of their own."

Otaki was somewhat flabbergasted at the cost. "I'll need my phone to make a call for that amount." Naruto nodded and handed his phone over to him.

"Go ahead and call." said Naruto. "I'm going to visit with Muna while you're on the phone." He left to have a word with the terrified Professor.

Otaki was half watching as Naruto gave Muna a brutal tongue lashing in the background while he talked to the commissioner about setting up a new deal with the Uzumaki Clan. The commissioner was less than thrilled at the cost and squawked for a long time before Otaki explained he was in a room full of corpses and pissed off Uzumaki Clan ninjas. He watched as Ayane released Muna and then decked him as punishment for groping her. Otaki cringed hearing the sound of the hit. That was going to leave a bruise. The whole time the commissioner was giving him an earful and then asked if Otaki thought they could pull it off.

"Well sir, I'm no expert on ninjas but I have no doubt that they are the real deal." answered the Inspector carefully. "Yes. Yes sir, I'll handle it from here. Thank you sir." Otaki sighed and closed his phone. "It looks like we have a deal Uzumaki. I'll need to write out a new contract to finalize it. The stuff's out in the car. We'll also have to make arrangements for a safe house where we can talk a little more civilly."

"Then we have an accord." Naruto said. "Ayane, will you escort the good Inspector out to his car to get the papers he needs?" Ayane nodded. "There you go Inspector Otaki. The sooner we get this contract and the safe house arrangements made, the sooner you and your men can have their gear back and we can leave this blood soaked place."

Otaki went out to the car straightaway with Ayane escorting him from out of sight. When he returned he couldn't help but look at Ayane's form appreciatively. He wondered if her face was as beautiful as her body. Shaking off those thoughts he went back in the safe house where he heard Naruto say "Fuin!" and the two dead Mugen Tenshin ninja's bodies vanished before his eyes.

"What the hell?" asked Otaki. Those bodies were evidence!"

Naruto shook his head. "We're not leaving our ally's bodies behind. We are returning them to their families so they can be buried properly. This is not negotiable."

Otaki figured there was no point in arguing. They had plenty of bodies in the morgue that the Yoru Clan butchered. Two more weren't going to make any difference. He quickly pulled a laptop out of his briefcase and after going over some of the finer points of the contract he printed it on an official form and Otaki and Naruto signed it. After that Otaki handed over the address of the safe house the Uzumakis would be using along with the keys. He explained that he would arrive there with a briefcase with the advanced 10 million yen in the morning. Naruto agreed to meet him at the safe house and then he and his wives vanished from the sight of Otaki and his men leaving them stunned.

"I don't get paid enough to put up with this shit." said Otaki. "Let's get our stuff back from the pile and call forensics to come down and deal with this mess." He looked at Professor Muna who was now sporting a bruised cheek and blackened eye on the left side of his face. "That looks painful Muna. She must have hit you damn hard."

Muna sighed. "She certainly did sir."

Later at the safe house….

Naruto's clones searched the place and coupled with Hinata's byakugan they concluded the place was safe and free of listening devices and traps. At that point the six tired ninjas went in to relax for awhile. There was a common room, a kitchenette and eight bedrooms as well as two bathrooms. The safe house was comfortable enough to hide in but certainly wasn't a place you'd want to live.

"I love the lack of windows and the medieval dungeon/parking garage décor here." quipped Aoi.

Kasumi nodded. "I agree; we need to redecorate our own home to match this place. A few cinder blocks here and there, some cheap fluorescent lighting. This place has it all."

Naruto unsealed the small filing cabinet that he'd picked up at the Mugen Tenshin safe house along with the bodies. It was the only clue they had. He opened a random file and as expected it was in code. "This is coded. Ayane, Kasumi; can either of you decode this? We really need to get word to Hayate about what happened. I'm also hoping there's something in here on Nezumi."

The two sisters fortunately knew the codes and started thumbing through the various files. After about an hour they both were getting tired with little results. Seeing everybody was yawning and exhausted Hinata suggested they call it a night.

The next morning….

Naruto woke up early and slipped out of bed with Ayane. He was proud of her for not killing Professor Muna but she'd been too tired for much other than a few kisses so they just snuggled for the night. Going into the kitchenette he found there was some cereal and other basics there. Deciding to let the girls sleep he poured himself a bowl and waited for Inspector Otaki to arrive. He only had to wait and hour before he heard the jingling of keys at the door. Naruto hid himself in the darkness until he saw Otaki and an attractive woman in a women's business suit/skirt combination.

Otaki said to the woman, "They should be here Maya. I can't believe they'd get lost."

Naruto watched them enter and threw his voice behind them. "We are here Otaki. I trust you have the money. Why is someone with you? This was unexpected."

Otaki and the woman Maya looked behind them and saw nothing. Turning back around they saw Naruto stand right there in his sage coat, whisker marks and all. Otaki looked flustered and turn to Maya. "Are ninjas always this way?" to which she nodded. Shaking his head, the Inspector introduced himself properly. "I'm Inspector Otaki Seburo of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Force and this is my associate detective Arii Maya who is our liaison for the force when it comes to ninjas. She's here to apprise you of the situation with the Yoru Clan's activities since Muna was too frightened to come."

Maya smiled at Naruto and said, "Might we know your name sir?"

"I'm Uzumaki Naruto of the Uzumaki Clan." Naruto said as he created a shadow clone to wake the girls up. "Go get the girls up. They'll need to hear all this." The clone nodded and headed back to the bedrooms. Naruto lead the pair of newcomers into the kitchenette to discuss business. Otaki set a briefcase on the table and said, "This is the 10 million down payment as you requested."

Naruto simply said, "Open it facing you and then turn it around so I can see it."

Otaki wondered about the odd request but. Maya smiled and said, "Let me do it. I assured you there aren't any traps." She opened the briefcase full of cash and then slowly turned it around to show Naruto it was safe. "Here you are Uzumaki-san, completely safe."

"You'll forgive me if I verify the amount detective." said Naruto.

"Of course, and please call me Maya." Naruto nodded and carefully counted the money.

"You're a thousand yen short." growled Naruto.

Maya smiled and handed him the rest. "You're quite diligent Uzumaki-san, I was just testing you. Your reputation precedes you; you know. My contacts say you personally wrecked the Black Spider Clan's command structure and killed their clan head. I'm most impressed."

Naruto made a noncommittal shrug and sealed up the briefcase full of cash in a scroll for safekeeping. "It seems you know a bit about ninjas, Maya-san. It makes me curious as to who your contacts are to have that information."

She simply said, "That's a trade secret. Why are you blonde? It looks very good on you but-"

"My Father was a foreigner, that's all you need to know." Naruto answered.

About that time Hinata came in along with Ayane. "The others will join us shortly."

Otaki looked at her lavender eyes and gasped, "You're the one who saw everything but….you are blind?"

"Maybe, maybe not." said Hinata cryptically. The other kunoichis soon filed in and Inspector Otaki couldn't help but blush at their beauty.

Naruto coughed, "If you are done staring Inspector Otaki; perhaps you and Maya-san can brief us on the situation with the Yoru Clan?" Otaki averted his eyes and mumbled out an apology.

Seeing the Inspector was flustered, Maya decided to start the briefing. "Your target is the Yoru Clan of ninjas. They've been around since the 18th century and every twenty years or so they commit serial murders as sacrifices to the Shinigami. We don't know the inner workings of the Shinigami Cult or how they choose their victims. The only things we do know are they seem to enjoy feeling pain and the sacrifices supposedly will lead to immortality."

"Sounds a lot like the Cult of Jashin." said Naruto darkly.

Maya gasped, "You know of Jashinism?!"

Naruto nodded, "Yeah, I battled one of their priests a long time ago. Even cutting his head off didn't kill him so a friend of mine buried his head underground where he rotted away."

"What the hell are you talking about Maya?" asked Otaki who was completely lost.

"The Jashin Cult was like the Yoru Clan, only ten times worse." she answered. "If you've actually dealt with Jashinists then the Uzumaki Clan is the ideal group for this job."

Naruto asked, "What can you tell us about the Yoru Clan then? We saw two of their ritual murders and the hearts and livers were removed. There were symbols painted on the floor and walls with blood though we didn't get a chance to study them."

Maya nodded. "Professor Muna is the real expert on the ritual killings but from what little we do know they eat the hearts and livers at their temples. One of their sects was captured alive and later executed around 1925. That's where most of our information on the Yoru Clan Cult comes from."

"We need to get word back to the Mugen Tenshin Clan and explain the situation." said Kasumi.

"I can take care of that." said Maya. "Here is a list of the people that were murdered and backgrounds on each of them. There's also a map of the Tokyo area showing where all of the murders took place."

Naruto and the girls looked over the data and Momiji asked, "Have you done the genealogy of the victims? They may have a common ancestor. I see about a third of them are named Kodakawa and all are listed as being devoutly Shinto. I'd lay odds that they are descended of a religious group that fought the Yoru Clan in the past."

Maya and Otaki looked stunned. "I never thought of such a thing. I'll call Professor Muna right now." She stepped out in the hall to make the call.

Naruto and the girls kept looking over the data trying to glean clues or a pattern out of it for about a half an hour while detective Arii Maya was on the phone with Muna.

Maya came back in the room and said, "In 1875 the Priests of the Kodakawa Shrine were responsible for exposing the Yoru Clan and helped to defeat them. Professor Muna is going to look into the records and see if the shrine still exists and if records of their descendants exist. This could be the breakthrough we're looking for!"

"Are there records of the temples the Yoru Clan used for their rituals?" asked Aoi. "We might be able to estimate where their current temple is if we can find a pattern."

"I agree." added Momiji. "It might be they are placed at a convergence of ley lines. Some religious groups are very specific about sites they will build a temple."

Otaki asked, "Ley lines? I can't believe you put any stock in that sort of garbage."

Momiji fixed him with a glare. "It's not whether I believe in that sort of thing; the important thing is whether or not they believe in it. We mustn't overlook any possibilities Inspector."

Maya was amazed at all the information the ninjas were gleaning from things she and her department had stared at for months without making heads or tails of any of it. "We all need to go over to see Professor Muna at the University of Tokyo. In spite of his young age Muna is the head of the Department of Religious Studies. He and his staff could be a great help to us."

"Alright, let us change into civilian clothes." said Naruto. "I take it you can provide us with transportation?"

"I'll have an unmarked van down here in no time." said Inspector Otaki. "We just need to travel across the Shinjuku Ward to Bunkyo and we're there."

Tokyo University, Department of Philosophy and Religion

Naruto and his wives were all dressed in modern civilian clothing but still armed to the teeth with kunai, shuriken and senbon needles. Maya and Inspector Otaki were surprised at how well the ninjas blended into the crowd of university students although the kunoichis still stood out due to their sheer attractiveness. Somehow Naruto's whisker marks were gone and Hinata's eyes looked like they were a normal but striking indigo color. Otaki assumed it was makeup and contact lenses but actually it was a henge.

They soon found Professor Muna in his office which was littered with papers. "Ahhhh, you're here. I've got a bunch of boxes from the archives pulled out here for us to go through and…." He saw the blazing red eyes of Ayane glaring at him and said "Sorry about that little mishap, Miss." Then he put his hand on his bruised cheek absentmindedly. "Ahhhh anyway, I have an intern going to the Kodakawa Shrine to see if they have the family records we're looking for. I've already informed the Priest there of what's going on so it shouldn't be an issue."

Soon the group was quietly sifting through the papers on the Yoru Clan's history. Occasionally someone would stumble upon something but nothing other than footnotes. They were mainly waiting for someone from the philosophy department to come over with a ley line map pattern and hopefully confirmation about the Kodakawa line of descendants.

The Mugen Tenshin Village

Yomiko was looking over Aoi's letter to her informing her that she was a retainer to the Uzumaki's now. This made her happy that Aoi-sama wanted her to be safe. She was also stunned to hear Naruto had indeed slain Obaba and defeated Genshin. She considered Aoi-sama very lucky to have such a powerful husband. Yomiko wondered if she could become more than a mere retainer to Naruto-sama….

At any rate, she had received the news that their ninjas in Tokyo were dead and dutifully reported it to Hayate-sama. He agreed that Naruto took the correct course of action going after the Yoru Clan. Unfortunately Naruto couldn't contact them directly having to go through their police liaison in Tokyo. Hayate-sama decided they should send some backup once they could get in direct contact with Naruto.

Yomiko also wondered if the Black Spider Clan wouldn't declare a vendetta against the Uzumakis. Obaba probably would have but Geshin? He was more of a logical than Obaba had been. He would no doubt want to get back at Naruto for defeating him but in Genshin's case he would want to challenge Naruto to a rematch as opposed to trying to wipe out the Uzumaki Clan. Yomiko never fully understood Genshin's angle but she figured that he would have a grudging respect for Naruto despite things or at least she hoped so…. Yomiko said a short prayer for Aoi-sama's safety and got back to work.

Tokyo University hours later….

Professor Muna got off the phone with his intern. "The first eighteen of the twenty-seven known murder victims are descended of the line of the head priest of the Kodakawa Shrine in 1875. I'd say we have a definite pattern here. My intern is researching the other nine as we speak."

Maya immediately called her division at Police Headquarters to get the names of other descendants who could be endangered.

Otaki of all people was stuck with the maps of the ley lines and to his shock he found something. "Every time four lines of these colors intersect a temple is there. I still don't believe in any of this but at least there's a pattern."

Hinata came over and looked at the map. "I see six places in the Tokyo area that fit the criteria. They all have ley lines for fire, wind, water, and earth in their proximity. Three were former sights and have been investigated by the police already. That leaves us three other possibilities." Aoi and Ayane soon came over and confirmed what Hinata was seeing. Otaki and Maya wondered if the Uzumakis wouldn't be helpful in other investigations given how good they were at this sort of thing….

Maya plugged the coordinates of the ley lines into her GPS to see what the sites were on the map. "The first one is in the Minato Ward; specifically it is located in the Aoyama Cemetery. How appropriate for a cult to the death god."

After entering the next set of coordinates Maya cocked an eyebrow at the results. "The second one is located in the Adachi Ward. It is the location of the Great Temple Nishiarai Daishi so I'd say it's pretty unlikely."

Otaki interjected, "I doubt that the Buddhists there would rent their temple to a death cult."

Maya nodded. "The last one is right here in Bunkyo Ward. It's the Tokyo Dome! Maybe that's why the Yomiuri Gaints are such good baseball players." she added.

"Yes, when I went to buy my season tickets at the dome I immediately felt that a death cult and the ley lines there would make the Giants win." Otaki said sarcastically.

"Anything is possible." quipped Maya. "I wouldn't put it past some promoters to make human sacrifices to make their team win."

Otaki shook his head. "Sadly, I'm forced to agree with you on that point Detective Arii."

'It's a shame this won't lead us to Nezumi.' thought Naruto grouchily. 'At least it's going to help us financially.'

Location unknown

"This new Uzumaki Clan is onto us according to our contact. This puts us in a precarious position. Rumors have been going around about them." said a male to the others.

An elderly male replied, "It matters not. What is important is we still have to sacrifice three more of the Kadokawa line and then we can perform the ritual."

A female voice said, "We have less than two weeks before the red hunter's moon. After we've sacrificed those three then we will sacrifice the female tengu to the Shinigami. Her soul is the key to our own immortality. Surely fortune shines upon us finding her." she said as she laughed.

The first male voice said angrily, "It cost us thirteen men to subdue her you witch. Thirteen men! Two of them were of my own flesh and blood!"

"And they are with the Shinigami now and are surely happy in his cold embrace." she answered. "What do you think Nyotengu? Isn't this glorious? You are our ticket to immortality."

Nyotengu was chained to a wall, tied up and hobbled. Even her wings she was so proud of were tied so they couldn't move. She'd slain several of them but still ended up being captured by the Yoru Clan's ninja tricks. She smiled crookedly through her busted lip. 'If Sage Uzumaki comes here I hope I get to witness him slaughter these fools. Even if I die I want to see them go first.'

The angry male spat on Nyotengu and said, "What are you smiling about bitch?! I'm personally going to cut out your heart for killing two of my brothers."

Nyotengu's light purple eye gleamed with malice towards him. She said with a grim smile, "You have no idea what's coming. You and your little cult of death worshipers will drown in your blood when the red moon comes. I'm going to enjoy watching you suffer as you watch your clan go extinct."

POSTSCRIPT:

This was a good stopping before Naruto and his wives go hunting for cultists. I originally was going to insert this side story later but the opportunity to get it rolling was too good to pass up. What does this mean for Nezumi? Did he get away again? We'll see. Next chapter will be a race against time.
