Author's notes.

I hate this chapter and have the written it so many times I want to puke. I just wanted to get this next chapter out so I can continue the story. Also the few Russian words I used I looked up on google translate so if they are wrong I'm blaming google.

Thank you

Poison Ivy

Ch 2

Dimitri

Opening the door I never expected to see what I did. There she was being held by her throat and pushed up against an SUV. I could see her attacker was a man that had nothing but pure rage on his face. He had blond hair and an air of familiarity about him. He was screaming at her, while she was trying to get his hands off.

"Damn it Rose! I told you to not say a word about what happened. But no, you had to go run your mouth to your little friend. You got me fired!! Fired you little bitch!"

"I.. didn't… say…anything… I swear!"

"Yes you did, how else would she know? What am I going to do now! Huh? What am I supposed to tell my dad!!"

With that he slammed her head hard into the SUV. She struggled and looked like she was about to pass out. Without thinking I ran up to him, grabbed his shirt and yanked him off. She fell to the ground grabbing her throat and gasping for air.

"What the fuck!" He spat as he turned to face me.

"Get your hands off her!" I got right in his face daring him to do something.

"Look I don't know what kind of "favor" she's offered you, but this is none of your business." He started to sway and almost fell down and had an overwhelming smell of alcohol on him.

He was starting to trigger memories of when my dad would come home drunk and beat my mom. I needed to get a handle on the situation before I lost control.

"You need to leave before I do something that I may or may not regret."

"Stay out of this!"

He slurred before sloppily trying to punch me. I easily caught his fist and twisted his arm behind his back and pushed him face first into the SUV.

"Like I said before you need to leave." I growled in his ear.

"Please just leave, Jesse." "Ivy" managed to squeak out.

"Don't tell me what to do bitch!" With that I slammed his head hard into the SUV.

"You will not speak to her that way!!"

"I'll say whatever I want to her!" This guy was really trying my patience.

"Hey D, you out here?" We both turn our heads to the sound of Ivan's voice. His eyes practically bugged out when he caught sight of what was going on.

He raced over behind me.

"What the heck is going…. " Ivan stopped and stared at the man I was holding.

"Jesse??? What are you doing here?"

"Hey, Ivan, long time no see. Sorry I couldn't make it to grandma's funeral, but you know?" He shrugged his shoulders.

"Wait, You know this asshole?" I looked at Ivan.

"Unfortunately yes, he's my cousin, but I haven't seen him in a couple of years."

No wonder this guy looked familiar.

"Again Jesse what are you doing?"

"I was just having a talk with my girlfriend and this big lug here interrupted me." That's when Ivan looked and noticed "Ivy" on the ground.

"Ex, Jesse, I'm your ex. We haven't been together for a long time."

"Ivy" coughed and tried to stand up, but stumbled a little. Ivan caught her and helped her up. I quickly looked her over to see if she had any injuries. I noticed hand marks around her neck from where he had been holding her.

"Mudak!"

(Asshole)

"Jesse, let me call you a cab." Ivan spoke up trying to de-escalate the situation.

"I'm not leaving till I finish talking to her!" He tried to get free and I pushed my knee in his back to keep him still.

"You're done talking, I'm calling you a cab." Ivan grabbed his arms and replaced mine.

"I've got him D, you go help her." I nodded and let go.

"We're going Jesse!" He protested, but Ivan had a steel grip on him and was not letting go. He started to walk him towards the front of the building.

"This isn't over Rose!!" He screamed one last time before they were out of sight. I turned my focus over to "Ivy".

"Are you okay?" I put my hand on her shoulder and she flinched. I immediately took it off and raised my hands in surrender. She just shook her head and tears started to fall from her eyes. I noticed that her top was slightly ripped so I took off my duster and wrapped it around her.

"I'm okay, I just need a minute before I go back inside." She said, wiping her eyes.

"Are you sure you're ok? Can I get someone for you? Do you need me to walk you back inside?"

"Comrade chill, I'm fine really! I can take care of myself."

"Ok" I said slowly, stepping back a bit.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to come off so rude. It's just…I'm used to… nevermind." She paused for a minute and looked up at me.

"Thank you, for coming to my rescue."

We stood there staring at each other for what seemed like hours. I wanted to reach out and take her in my arms, tell her it's going to be ok. Tell her that she deserved so much better and that no one should ever put their hands on her.

"Thank you again, but I really need to get back to work!" She cleared her throat, bringing me back to reality. She started to take my duster off and I grabbed it and wrapped her back up.

"It's ok, keep it on till you get back inside."

"Thank you."

She started to walk, but was unsteady on her feet. All of a sudden her eyes rolled back in her head and she was falling backwards. I quickly caught her and scooped her up in my arms. I tried calling her name to get her to wake up, but she didn't. I needed to get her help.

Do I take her to the hospital myself or take her back inside?

I felt something wet on my arm. I looked down and noticed it was covered in blood. Der'mo* (shit) the blood was coming from the back of her head. That made my decision I was going to take her back inside.

————————————————————

I ran in looking for anyone to help me. I quickly spotted a bouncer with red hair. I walked towards him and when he saw who I was holding, covered in blood he rushed over to us.

"What happened?"

"I walked out back and Jesse, I guess that's his name, had her by the throat and then slammed her head hard into an SUV."

"That son of a bitch!! Is he still here?"

"No, my friend Ivan made him leave and called a cab to send him home."

"Good!"

"Even though I'd like to beat his ass right now." He grumbled under his breath.

"Bring her this way." He motioned for me to follow.

I followed him with "Ivy" in my arms. I was watching her chest rise and fall making sure she was still breathing. He looked back at me.

"We'll deal with him later, trust me."

Obviously he knew who Jesse was and something like this had happened before. Wishing now I would have at least taken a swing at him. Knowing I wouldn't have missed.

He led me to a door that said private and we walked in. I could see a desk with papers all over and a middle aged woman sitting behind it. I barely got through the door and she jumped out of the chair.

"Oh my god Rose! What happened?"

"Jesse happened!" The red head said.

"That son of a bitch!!!" She pointed to a couch by the wall.

"Please bring her over here."

I walked over and carefully started to lay her down.

"She's bleeding from the back of her head. Do you have a towel or something I could use to put pressure on it?"

The red head walked out and quickly came back with some towels. I gently placed it behind her head and laid her all the way down. The red head handed me another towel to clean my arm up. I thanked him for it and wiped her blood off my arm.

"Mason, can you call Lissa?"

He nodded, grabbed his phone and walked out the door.

"Can you tell me exactly what happened?" She asked while tending to "Ivy".

"I walked out back and Jesse had her by the throat up against an SUV. I saw him slam her head into it, that's when I stepped in and grabbed him off her. I'm not sure what all happened before I got there."

"Oh Rose." She sighed as she gently brushed hair out of her face.

"I just wish I could have stopped him sooner." I ran my hands through my hair feeling guilty that I watched him slam her into the SUV. I started to nervously pace back and forth.

She grabbed my hand to make me stop and looked me in the eyes. "Hey, don't blame yourself, this isn't your fault."

She let go of my hand and looked back at "Ivy." "This isn't her fault either. I'm glad you got to her when you did." She continued to brush her hair with her hand. It was such a motherly gesture.

"Mason, who was just in here, went to call her friend who is a DR to come take a look at her."

"Good."

"My names Alberta, me and my wife Celeste own this place. I don't think I've ever seen you here before."

"Dimitri and no you haven't. I came with my friend

Ivan. I believe he comes here a lot?"

"Ahh yes Ivan. He is a favorite with the girls." She laughed then focused back on "Ivy" well Rose.

The red head, Mason, stepped back in and said that Lissa was on her way.

I didn't want to leave until I knew she was going to be ok. I also didn't want to overstep my boundaries by sticking around.

Alberta continued tending to Rose while I stood there silently pacing.

"Hey, thank you for taking care of her. I hate to think what would have happened if you hadn't stepped in when you did." Mason said as he walked over to me. All I could do was nod because I was still feeling guilty that I didn't get to her sooner.

We stood there in an awkward silence waiting.

Thankfully we didn't have to wait too long before a petite blonde wearing scrubs came barreling through the door. She ignored everyone else in the room and went straight to Rose. She was followed by a guy with jet black hair and piercing blue eyes.

"How long has she been out?" She asked, shining a light in her eyes.

Alberta and Mason looked at me to answer. I told Lissa I believed she had been out for about 20 to 25 minutes. I then recounted my story again telling her exactly what had happened.

"Ok, thank you."

Alberta took one last look at Rose and walked over to me.

"Why don't we give Lissa some space?" Sensing my hesitation she added. "She's in good hands, Lissa will make sure she's ok. Why don't I walk you out?" I didn't want to leave Rose, but reluctantly I took one last look at Rose and followed her out the door.

————————————————————

Ivan was waiting outside the door for me.

"Hey D, everything ok?" He asked noting the worried look on my face.

"She passed out after you walked away and I brought her inside. When I left the office she was still out cold. There's someone with her now."

I took a deep breath.

"Jesse leave?"

"Yes, I personally put him in a cab and sent him home." Alberta walked over to us.

"Dimitri, thank you again for taking care of her. She patted me on the back then turned to Ivan. "Ivan, thank you for getting rid of Jesse. He's been an issue around here."

Ivan gave her a confused look on how she knew his name.

"Names Alberta, my wife and I own this place, nice to formally meet you. You've made quite an impression on my girls."

He blushed slightly.

"Don't be embarrassed."

She got close to whisper in his ear. " I know what goes on behind closed doors here." His eyes widened.

"They've only said good things about you." She winked and patted him on the back.

"Let me take care of your bill for tonight."

"NO!" We both said in unison

"That won't be necessary." I said.

"Are you sure? It's the least I could do."

"We're sure, you don't owe us anything." Ivan replied.

"If you're sure?" We nodded.

"We are. We're probably going to head out anyway."

"One thing before you both go. Is it possible to get your phone numbers? If she decides to make a report to the police, they may need your statements."

"Of course" We both replied.

Alberta walked over to the bar and grabbed a piece of paper and a pen. She handed it to Ivan.

He quickly jotted down his number and passed it to me. I wrote down mine and handed it back to her.

"I don't want to overstep my boundaries but. Is there anyways you could call me and let me know how she's doing?"

"You're not, I don't mind, it's the least I can do." She looked towards the office door. "I need to get back and see how she's doing. Hopefully this doesn't scare you off and we see you in here again, Dimitri."

"You will. I'll make sure he comes back!" Ivan grabbed my shoulders.

With that we said our goodbyes to Alberta and headed out. She reassured me that she would give me an update on Rose when she had one.

————————————————————

Ivan stood at the driver's side door of his car and stared at me.

"Are you going to unlock the door?"

"Not yet. I need to know something."

I gave him the gesture to go ahead.

" Why did you go out back?"

"I went out to get some air. Now would you please unlock the door?"

" I think there's more to it than that!"

"No there's not and why does it matter? It was a good thing I walked out when I did. I should be asking you how I don't know you were related to that asshole!"

"First off you know you know better than anyone that you can't pick your family. I haven't seen him in years. I had no clue he even lived around here and you're right. It was a good thing you were out there, but what matters is that you lied about where you were going."

"No I didn't, I went to the bathroom first then walked outside."

"I watched you bypass the bathroom and walk out the back door! So stop lying to me."

"Can you just drop it? It's been a long night and I'm ready to go home."

We stood there staring at each other. I knew he wasn't going to let this go. I also knew I wasn't going to tell him why I went out there.

"Fine I'll let it go for now, but we will talk about this later."
