Haha! Didn't expect me to update this so soon now did you? Last chapter was more of an introduction to the story with a bit of backstory with Bell and Zeus. Now let's get on with the story!

Also I should probably note this

Bold – When I write in bold it's my authors note or if I say something to you all in the middle of the story.

Italicized – Is when characters are thinking.

This means flashback.

"This is when people are speaking."

Happy reading.

"Hyah! Hup! And Hagh!"

We see Bell not so young anymore still practicing his swordsmanship. He's improved greatly since when he first started. Now he can kill just about any surface monster that stupid enough to attack him. (Granted, they are pitifully weak against their dungeon counterparts, but that's not important right now!) He would've continued practicing when…

"BELL!"

'Huh? What's going on?'

"Yes chief? What happened? Why are you out of breath?" He asked.

"I'm sorry Bell, but I need you to come with me." The village chief replied.

"What's going on?" Bell asked

"It's your grandfather Bell. During our hunting party we were ambushed by monsters. They sent me to get help so I stopped here first." The chief told him.

"WHAAT? Where? I'll go there right now!"

"They're not too far out. They're out in the forest. Be careful of the cliffs we were near there."

"On it!"

Bell ran as fast as he could into the forest. He was desperately hoping he'd get there before anything could happen. The many trees blocking the way and the changing terrain weren't helping much either. It also didn't help that he didn't exactly know where he was going. He remembered the chief saying that they were near the cliffs so he had to just get near there and follow it around hoping for the best.

'Where are they? Where are they? Oh kami please let me get there in time! There are more monsters around here than usual. Am I getting closer? Wait! There they Are!

Bell was able to find the hunting party holding out on their own pretty well. He was able to kill the rest of them flawlessly. Turns out being young and trained makes you faster than the adults. The only monster that was a problem was a giant orc that had a huge club. It was still way weaker than its dungeon counterpart but for someone without a falna it was an even challenge. Bell ducked underneath the club as the orc swung it at him. He slashed his sword at the orc with an upward slash as he was standing up and slashed at the orcs side as he went around it. He ended it by cutting its head clean off.

"Aww, my sword got nicked again." Bell whined as if slaying that fat orc was childs play and was more concerned with his weapon. The remaining monsters, goblins, as if sensing immediate death did the only logical thing left: they ran. It was pointless really as everyone just slayed the rest of them with ease now that the big guy was gone.

"Is everyone alright?" Bell asked them

"Yeah, we're fine" "All good here" "Might need new underwear after that." Various answers were said, but not from the one person Bell was hoping to hear from.

"Wait. Where is my grandfather?" He hesitantly asked.

"… I'm sorry Bell. He uh, he was thrown into the cliff by that orc. He pushed Jim out of the way. I'm really sorry."

"… no. No your wrong right? He's somewhere out here hiding right?"

"….."

"You sure he didn't sneak off to peak at the women again, right?" He desperately asked.

"No. I'm sorry Bell. These things happen. Don't beat yourself up over it, this happened way before you got here. You have my condolences."

'no. No. NO! Why? Why would you leave me grandpa? I'm not ready to be on my own yet. Please tell me this is just a bad dream. If so please wake me up! I can't do this without you grandpa!

The poor boy. Just what the hell are you plotting old man?

Flashback

"Hey! That was my kill and you know it!" "Ah put a sock in it. You snooze you lose!" "Oh, why I oughta!"

"Hahaha! It's always a laugh when they're like this. He's right you know. Either way this if for our dinner it doesn't matter who killed what" "Says you! You get all the good ones!" "That's cuz I'm awesome!"

Laughter could be heard from the hunting party as they were up with their antics again. It's all in good fun. It's also a wonder how they were able to manage to kill anything with how loud they were.

"Hey what's wrong old man? Sad you couldn't get anything to show off to that grandson of yours?"

"Haha! His boy will be impressed with a bird if it came from the old man. He's too easy to please."

"You got that right. Though I'll say, he's getting better and better with that sword of his. Maybe next time we'll bring him along. We could get that bear that's up north and have more food to go around.

"Forget hunting, he might actually be able to travel to Orario and send us some real money so we won't have to hunt so often."

"Hey, you really think the kids got it in him to be an adventurer?"

"OF COURSE HE DOES! THAT'S MY GRANDON YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT!"

"Sheesh, calm down old man. If anyone from here's got it in them to be an adventurer it's that kid. Hell he wants to be a hero too. Don't you think you read him too many hero stories old man?"

"If anything, I didn't read him enough."

"Yeah, yeah, you and your hero stories. Anyways what's on your mind."

Zeus took a more serious expression on his face. He thought now would be a good time to go. He taught Bell everything he knew about the sword. (Truthfully, he only knew the basics from watching his familia for so long. He knew that Bell is as good as he can be right now given the circumstances. He would have to travel to Orario to get stronger and become the last hero. If he does that he'll be the coolest hero ever. And get ALL the women swooning for him.) I can't wait to see how big his harem will be! The old man thought. (Remember! No harem!)

"I need to leave now." The old god told him.

"Huh? Already? But we haven't got enough yet." One of them replied.

"No you don't understand. I need to leave here. I need to leave Bell now."

"THE HELL? You're just gonna up and leave the boy?! What's the matter with you?" "What are you up to you old fool?" Various shouts of protest could be heard from the others. The old god didn't seem to care in the slightest.

"I have to go. Tell Bell that I died. I can't have him looking for me. He needs to think that I am gone." He continued.

"WHAT? That's absurd! How do you think he'll take it? Your is only family and you're just going to up and leave him."

"He needs this. He needs a push to go to Orario. If he thinks I'm still alive he won't go. I don't want to leave him either but you need to promise me not a word of this will reach him." He told them

"And why should we? You know he doesn't have to go to Orario. He doesn't have to go throw himself into that death trap of a dungeon. He's only doing this cuz of you. You kept telling him how great heroes are and now he wants to do that to please you."

"He always has and always will. I'll always be proud of him. But this is something everyone needs. He can do it. He has the potential to become the last hero."

"I don't know what you're going on about old man, but are you sure about this? He'll be devastated to think you're dead."

"I know. This will be a wall for him to overcome. If he can't jump over this then he doesn't have what it takes. That's why you'll need to help him overcome this. In time he'll do great things but for now he's still only 14. All he'll need is a push in the right direction. Promise me you'll do this." He asked them.

The rest of them were unsure of what was going on. They reluctantly agreed after he started begging them. Something about him pitifully pleading to them made them fell ill.

End flashback

It had been two weeks since Bell learned of his grandfather's "death". He had time to mourn and decided to go to Orario like his grandfather wanted him to. While packing, he found that odd book from his mother all those years ago. He was just about to read it when "Hey Bell. You ready? The carriage will be leaving soon." One of his neighbors informed him.

"Yeah, I'll be right there." He told him. He packed the book into his travel bag and set off to join the others that were traveling on the carriage. As they were taking off Bell took one last look at his house and remembered all the good times he had there with his grandfather.

The trip was long, taking almost another two weeks to get to Orario. Getting inside was pretty easy; all they had to do was ask his name and check his back. After confirming he wasn't a spy, they let him in. Now, he finally stood inside the walls of the great labyrinth city of Orario.

This is it. He thought to himself. The start of my story!

Annnd done! Whoo that was a fun write. I thought I couldn't put much of a backstory, but the sentences just kept on coming. I like to think this turned out well. How did it look? Let me know if there are any errors as I may have missed some. Thank you and have a good day.
