Tragedy has fallen onto a loving family turning six brothers into swans. It's up to their sister Arrietty to break the transformation. For six years she must endure in silence. The sister may not endure alone. In the Hidden Leaf she meets a boy who is very much as lost and alone as she. Naruto can never replace her brothers. Perhaps she can help nurture him as he grows into a man.

10. Chapter 10

The Little Mute Girl Chapter 9

Much to Arrietty's surprise and pleasure the meeting with Lord Third Hokage and the troublesome Elders went far better than she could've ever possibly imagined it to go.

To be honest Arrietty fully expected to be imprisoned with the key thrown away along with all her hopes of ever freeing her siblings from their curse because she can't reach the plants she requires anymore.

No, instead it is the exact opposite.

Lord Hokage was more understanding and receptive than she assumed he'd be about her situation. Well, what she was able and allowed to tell that is even without speech. Arrietty was in that office for hours answering their questions as honestly as she could with Naruto lending her courage beside her as she was grilled with questions after question. There is some suspicion that she might be a spy from one of the other separate nations because of these unusual circumstances. Including the fear that there's the chance that she's infiltrated in order to get close to Naruto and claim the Tailed Beast contained within him. Although no one outside the pair is going to say that openly to either of them. Naruto is quick to defend her quite. Quite vocally, too. Arrietty calms him with soothing touches and ruffling his hair in order to curb his behavior. So by the end of it, Naruto sulks both in embarrassment and bashfulness at how she was acting towards him even though secretly he's loving the affection she lays on him despite him outwardly scoffing at her.

For Iruka and Lord Third Hokage they are amused at what they are seeing and pleased that Naruto has someone in his life that has taken such an interest in his wellbeing.

By the end of everything a decision had to be made on what to do with Arrietty. Fortunately Lord Third Hockage had already made his decision about halfway through.

Arrietty would not be imprisoned or asked to leave the Hidden Leaf Village.

To the contrary Lord Third Hokage decrees that she will be living in the village with Naruto as his guardian to the shock of those listening especially the Elders. The Elders object profusely upon Lord Third Hokage's choice towards her, but he fails to see any danger she represents. Arrietty is a good influence around Naruto. One that has to be encouraged not extinguished. He can sense none at all. Naruto's apartment is too small for both of them so Lord Hokage grants them an empty house that's in a greener area of the village confines. This last concession was made after Lord Third Hokage recognizes that Arrietty obviously initially prefers to keep away from large groups of people. So that compromise is put into place. As an orphan without a family of his own Naruto has always been granted a monthly stipend allowance in order to take care of his basic needs along with anything extra that happens to come up. But that was in the past. Now that amount of money will be increased exponentially in light of these new conditions.

Lord Third Hokage even takes things one step further in a way that absolutely delights Arrietty yet makes Naruto whine a bit in face of it. Lord Third Hokage will arrange sign language lessons for the two of them. That way Arrietty and Naruto can communicate a lot better along with conversations with others being much easier including when there's a translator present. Naruto hates the fact that he's going to be forced to go through extra lessons outside of the Ninja Academy, but after seeing how happy the prospect makes her. It'll just be another part of their daily lives now.

So Arrietty and Naruto move into their new home where they couldn't be any happier. Naruto's living conditions have improved enormously. What he loves most of all is that he's not home alone anymore. Arrietty's favorite part of their home is the small yet nice courtyard where she can still continue her work. On the side Arrietty chooses to take in laundry and some sewing to add to their monthly income. It's not much, but it does help here and there now and again with a small handful of frequency. In truth if Arrietty is being honest she does miss her little hollow in the woods, but she wouldn't trade anything for what she has now with Naruto.

As much as she would've liked it to be that way living together with Naruto now and out in the open isn't all happiness and smiles even though a majority of it is.

The reception received by a lot of the Hidden Leaf Village residents isn't that good. She notices a lot of dirty and contemptuous looks sent their way whenever the duo is out together, whispering behind their hands. It horrifies Arrietty at how mean and cruel people are to Naruto. A lonely orphan who doesn't seem to do anything wrong to warrant such treatment. Yes, he pulls a vast amount of pranks, but that doesn't justify that treatment. Arrietty defends him the best she can, lending him support, love, warmth, and comfort to take his mind off of it. Arrietty's answer was always to simply ignore and move on. Most of the time it works where she's able to distract him, causing the boy to smile which is exactly the goal she constantly sets out to do.

One of Arrietty's biggest fears following the move is that her brothers wouldn't be able to find her at the clearing during midsummer and midwinter on their tight schedule. These fears were proven to be unfounded as they somehow easily manage to locate her right on schedule. She is immensely grateful for this bounty. Arrietty could tell by the expressions in each of their eyes that they were surprised at her sudden change in arrangements, but are happy that she's no longer living in the wilderness. There's a makeshift pond in the courtyard that they can swim in during their visits. It's not nearly as big as the one they had in the forest. Still they make do.

Things are peaceful for them in this safety. Before Arrietty realizes it a year passes where Naruto turns 12, a momentous occasion, and most of all, the 2nd shirt is completely after all her hard work.

And here come the episodes! We're finally going to get into the first one! It's been a longtime coming, but we've reached that point at long last.

Also, watching it gave me a certain idea. What do you guys think of me combining my characters Audrina from Heart Of Atlantis and Danika from this one once we get to this new movie?

Also, I still haven't figured out what Danika's superhero name should be. I really need this figured out because the following chapter after this one will be where her superhero name is chosen for this story. The choices are now down to Tempest and Twilight.

Just a heads up I'm accepting suggestions on numerous shows, books, and movies to write about in the future. You see I'm trying to reach my goal of 100 stories on my profile. Currently I have 4 left to go after this one until I get there. So think it over and if I feel a connection with what you suggest I'll do it.

I've been meaning to get back to this one for a while and only now I've managed to find time and inspiration for it. I'm very satisfied and happy about it. Apologies for it taking so long. I've been debating on how to go about it for a while and finally figured it out. Hopefully I'll be able to dish out more for my readers now that we're passed this crucial turning point.

Right now during this epidemic with the coronavirus that's impacting every nation in the entire world we really do need find whatever sources we possibly can in order to lighten our spirits. Especially those who are unfortunately stuck sick or those locked in self isolation in order to prevent both contraction and spread of the illness. For those of us who have the abilities to do this we have a duty to keep up morale and that's exactly what I wholeheartedly desire these new stories and updates concocted during this time do for you.

I have other grand news! I was a patron at New York Comic Con 2019! Ah! I'd been dying to go for years and now I had the opportunity. The Jokers from Impractical Jokers have been here along with Tom Hiddleston and so many others. Over those few days I actually got my picture taken with a couple of other actors/actresses and some really great panels. It really is so exciting there. This is an opportunity of a lifetime so there's no way in hell that I was going to waste a single second of it. No one ever should with something like this. Ever! ;D

For future preferences I highly recommend that you all keep an eye out for when tickets for New York Comic Con are available for purchase again for next year. This is a huge event and you should jump on it whenever you have the chance. Unfortunately this year it appears like Comic Con might be skipped not just in New York, but also in all it's regular places during the course of scheduled events. I think we all know the reason for it is plain as day.

The coronavirus.

Can't exactly blame with how dreadful things are getting in escalation and the fact that places like the Javits Center in New York have been temporarily converted into makeshift hospitals in order to deal with the overflow of people contracting infections from this rapidly spreading virus that might as well be called a plague at this point. Let's keep fingers crossed that an aim is to have this pass us before then so things can get back on track. If it is then New York Comic Con might be exactly what people need in order to lighten their spirits after all this darkness. Stay safe everyone and long to eventually see you there.
