Yooo a new chapter! Let's goooooo! Thank you everyone for all favorites and follows! We hit that 100 goal and I just wanted to thank you guys for that. Now, on with the chapter!
Bell woke up the next day feeling refreshed and ready to test out his new strength. He got dressed and went downstairs to get breakfast and start the day. Before he could even start training, he had to stop by Welf's forge and get his new armor. He told Bell that he was making him a new set to replace his broken one and that it would be ready today. He took the minotaur horn with him as it was proof that he survived the fight and couldn't seem to part with it.
After eating a quick breakfast he made his way over to Welf's forge.
"Weeelf? You there?" He asked while knocking on the door.
"It's open." He replied
He opened the door to see him working on a shortsword. Taking a quick look around the place he saw all kinds of weapons and armor pieces everywhere. It was obvious that Welf put a lot of effort into his work.
"Hey Bell. I just finished with your armor." Welf said putting the sword down. "Check the box over there." He pointed to said box.
"Wow it looks great!" Bell said examining the armor. "It's lighter than the last one too." He added.
"Hell yeah it is! It's also stronger and more durable than the last one so you'll live another day!" He proudly exclaimed. "Oh, what's that Bell?" He asked pointing at the minotaur horn.
"It's the drop item from the minotaur! I just couldn't seem to part with it." He told him.
"That makes sense. Hey, if you want I bet I could make a really good weapon from it!" He told him.
"You can do that?!" Bell asked excitedly.
"Course I can! How about it?" He asked.
"Of course!" Bell said excited to see what Welf would make.
"Before I start though, Lili came by and said she'll be waiting for us to adventure in the dungeon and I'll need a couple more materials from there sooo, why don't we put this on hold and try out your new armor?" Welf asked him.
"Hmm, sure. I've been meaning to test out my new strength." Bell said.
"New strength?" Welf asked.
"Oh didn't I mention? I leveled up!" He casually said.
"Whaat!" Welf yelled.
"Hehe!" Bell smiled proudly.
"Well, congratulations Bell! Come on! Lil'E won't want to wait forever." He said.
"Right. Though, I have a feeling I'm forgetting something important." Bell said trying to recall something.
"Well, if you forgot it, it's probably not too important right?" Welf asked as he got his sword ready.
"Yeah, you're probably right." Bell agreed.
….
Elsewhere
"Bell?" A lonely Ais asked looking for her rabbit.
….
Down at Floor 10
"Man this is the fastest we've gotten to here!" Welf said while they were taking a small break.
"Yeah!" Bell agreed.
"It's thanks to your new level up strength that we were able to get here so quickly. Just save some monsters for the rest of us, okay?" Welf joked.
"No promises!" Bell laughed.
"Anyway, you sure you don't need any help over there Lil'E?" Welf asked their supporter.
"No thank you! I'm almost done here!" Lili replied cutting the stone out of another monster carcass.
"Man it really is handy having a supporter lug all our stuff around. I still feel bad though." Welf said.
"This is just Lili's specialty, Welf. She'll get mad if we try to help." Bell told him.
"Yeah, you're right about that. Still remember last time I tried to help. Also, what's going on with your hand?" Welf asked
"Huh? I'm not so sure myself." Bell said. It seemed like small light particles were gathering around Bells hand. He tried swatting it away but nothing happened.
"So, what do you want to do next Bell?" Welf asked.
"Hmm. I don't know. Now that I'm a level 2 I'd like to start adventuring into the middle floors but we don't have the supplies for that." Bell told him.
"Hmm. You know if you want to we could call it a day to collect supplies and head down there tomorrow. I'll also have that minotaur horn turned into a weapon in time!" He said.
"Yeah that sounds good. Lili! We need to talk to you for a second!" Bell said calling her over.
"Coming!" She replied after collecting the last monster drops. After talking with her about their plan she agreed to it and they started making their way up. Or at least, they were.
"Hey, did you guys hear that?" Bell asked them.
"Is someone running this way?" Welf asked.
Soon enough they saw a small party run their way.
"RUUUNN!" One shouted. Behind them was an infant dragon chasing them. Infant dragons were like the 'monster rex' of the upper floors so it's only natural to run the hell away from them.
"Wait for us!" Welf yelled to them and turned to them with Lili following. Bell however did not run.
"Bell?" Lili said.
"Get back!" He yelled. He did not want to run. He wanted to kill that monster before it could hurt anyone else.
"Scorching Tempest!" He yelled out activating his magic. Flames and bolts of lightning surrounded him as he charged the dragon. He focused it into his sword when a sound of bells ringing was heard as he sliced the dragon in half destroying it.
"Wow." Welf gasped in awe.
"That was, easier than I expected?" Bell said not sure what had happened. Sure he leveled up but he shouldn't be strong enough yet to one shot an infant dragon. Did those light particles have something to do with it? He felt stronger than ever when he attacked with scorching tempest. Was it because of his skill?
"Oh well. Let's head up!" Bell said snapping back to reality.
"Yeah." Lili agreed. She had enough excitement for one day.
….
"Alright I'll see you guys tomorrow!" Bell said as they parted ways.
"See ya!" They said.
'Okay. What do have left to gather? Lili will be getting potions from Nahza since she doesn't trust me, and Welf's getting salamander wool from a guy he knows plus our weapons. I really should have asked them what I should do.' He thought to himself.
"Guess that leaves me on food duty." He said to himself. He quickly made his way back home to talk with the cooks of the familia for help.
"Oh. Better ask Loki about that skill too." He added.
….
"Thank you so much!" Bell said while bowing down.
"Don't worry about it Bell! We already cook for the entire familia, 2 more mouths to feed won't hurt anyone!" One of them, a female chienthrope, said.
"Still, thank you!" He said happily.
"Think nothing of it. Oh yeah, I think someone was looking for you earlier." She told him.
"Who was it?" He asked.
"Don't know, it was just something I overheard. Oh, and the captain would like to see you as well." She said.
"Oh right, I still haven't seen him yet. Thank you!" He said and waved goodbye.
'I wonder what Finn wants?'
Soon enough he made it to his office and knocked on the door.
"Come in." Finn responded.
"Hello Finn., you wanted to see me?" Bell asked as he closed the door.
"Ah, Bell. Yes there's something I'd like to discuss with you. But first things first, you've leveled up haven't you?" Finn asked setting down his paperwork.
"Ahaha, yes I have. I'm now a level 2. I'm guessing Loki told you and the others?" He asked.
"No, only us Riveria and Gareth know. She'll be making it official soon so be aware of that." Finn told him.
"I will."
"Adding to that, I have to admit this Bell; you've impressed me lately. Not only have you been growing at an impressive pace, but you also survived that red-haired taimer and beating a minotaur at level 1? I'm really impressed." Finn told him honestly.
"Uh?! Really?!" Bell asked. Earing such high praise from the captain of the familia was no easy task.
"Yes, honestly. That brings me to my next point. I've given this a lot of thought, but how would you like to accompany us to the deep floors?" Finn asked.
"WHAT?!" Bell yelled. "The deep floors?! But why so soon?" Bell had thought it would be years before he could even think of venturing down there. And now such an opportunity was right here?
"Yes, I know that may be hard to understand but hear me out. No matter what you say, we won't take you if I deem that you're not ready when the time comes. If you keep improving the way you have there's no doubt in my mind you'll be a great help down there. Yes, going down there is normally reserved for the elite and hardened adventurers, but we won't be here forever so training you guys to get stronger and to go down there as soon as possible will help all of us in the long run. Don't worry too much, if you do go, you'll most likely be acting as our supporter after around floor 20. Before you say anything, yes we do take level 2s down there as supporters regularly. Line will be more than happy to show you the ropes. You aren't quite ready to go down there yet as a fresh level 2 so here's what you'll need to do; get stronger. Improve as much as you can until our next expedition and prove me right; show me that you can hold your own by then and I'll allow you to join us. We may even need your strength to help us down there." Finn explained to him.
"Wow." Was all Bell could say. That was a lot of information to take in.
"I know this is a lot to process and I don't need an answer right away. Our next expedition will be a while away so you have from now until then to decide." Finn told him.
"Thank you, Finn." Bell said.
"No problem. You may go now." Finn told him. He still had work to do.
"Right. See you later." Bell said as he made his exit.
With Bell gone, that just left Finn with his thoughts. 'Poor kid. He barely survives his level up and here I am throwing caution to the wind and told him to do it again? Sorry Bell, but this is for all of our sakes. If we want to survive down there and if I want to bring pride back to our race we need success down there.' He then made a fist. 'Now don't get too cocky, Bell, I'm not just going to roll over and let you become the strongest in the familia without a fight. I'll get stronger too.' He added with a smile. All that was left was for Bell to become stronger and prove his expectations.
"Wind, huh? Ais leveled up too right? Why have I not heard anything about her yet?" He asked himself. He took one look at all the paperwork at his desk and laughed slightly. "Maybe I need to get out more." He chuckled.
"GOING SOMEWHERE CAPTAIN?!" A lovesick Tione asked popping out of nowhere.
"WHERE THE HEL-!?"
….
'Finn's really putting the pressure huh?' Bell thought to himself. 'He's right though. If I want to go down into the lower floor with everyone I'll need to become way stronger than I already am. Looks like tomorrow will be a good test to see how far I need to go. We'll only be going to floor 14, but the monster rex on floor 17 was killed recently. I'll ask Welf and Lili if they would mind going down to Rivira any time soon. Maybe by next week we'll be ready.' He added, already planning ahead. Still though, there was something still bothering him.
"Why do I still have the feeling like I'm forgetting something?" He asked himself quietly. While he shouldn't have, he had been thinking the entire day about what he may have forgotten.
He turned a corner to see his idiol standing in front of him.
"Ais?" He asked surprising her.
"Bell?" She asked back.
"How are you?" He asked nervously, trying to start a conversation.
"I'm well." Was all she said, seeming rather cold.
"That's good. What have you been up to?" He asked.
"Nothing." She responded.
'Is something wrong? Usually she talks more.' He thought.
"Oh yeah, I was able to get used to my level shift!" He happily said.
"…" Nothing.
"Ais?" Bell asked.
"Baka." Was all she said and left with a pout.
"Eh?!" He wasn't used to the cold shoulder.
'What's going on with her? WAIT! I COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT OUR TRAINING! AIIIIS! I'M SORRRYYYY!' He internally freaked out.
"Wait, come back! Ais!" He yelled chasing after her.
(Damn Bell how dare you forget about you waifu even though I'm the author?)
….
After quickly explaining to himself (and a quick knock out lap pillow), Ais forgave him after he agreed, and made sure to remember, to some more training with her.
"So Finn really thinks you'll get strong enough before our next expedition?" Ais asked him. He told her about what he and Finn talked about.
"He believes that I can. Now it's up to me to live up to his expectations. So that's why I would like to keep training with you Ais! I want to go down there with you all and don't want to be a burden! Please! Train me again!" He asked her.
"… Alright. But it won't be easier now that you leveled up. It'll only get tougher from here on out." She informed him. Truthfully, there's nothing more than just training like they normally did and having fun, but now there was an opportunity for Bell to improve and join them all down there. Normally she'd rather have him stay as far away from the deep floors, but a small part of her wanted him to be with her down there and she wanted to show off a bit in front of him. Why was that?
"I won't let you down!" Bell happily told her.
They agreed that starting tomorrow, they'd start their training in the early mornings before the went out on their days and around the evenings when they'd come back. She didn't want to overwork him too much, but he needed to get stronger within an unknown time frame and she believed he could manage. She felt the same when he told her how he needed to get stronger fast. Right now, they had the afternoon off so they decided to get a head start on their training right now until they got to bed.
….
The next morning, the sun rose which signaled Bell and Ais's training session to be over. Bell had been knocked out more times than usual, on account that Ais still had not finished her level shift and couldn't hold back her strength correctly. Bell quickly showered and went to Loki's office for a status update before he went into the dungeon with Welf and Lili.
"Loki! You in there?" Bell asked knocking the door of her room.
"Come in." Loki said.
"Hello Loki! Can you update my status please?" Bell asked nicely.
"I expected you to come last night Bell. Don't tell me you're forgetting about your wonderful goddess after your rise to fame?" Loki joked.
"Fame? What fame?" Bell asked confused.
"Huh? Man you and Finn both need to go outside more. Nevermind. Strip!" She commanded.
"I wish you wouldn't yell that." Bell said and took off his shirt.
"Aw, come on! Let me have a little fun." She said.
She unlocked his falna and updated his status.
"Wow. Barely a level 2 and you almost have an F stat? What the hell are you?" Loki asked after Bell surprised her for the umpteenth time.
"Hehe." Bell answered sheepishly.

"Wow. This is great!" Bell said.
"Yep. Oh and also, as part of your level, us gods have decided on your new name!" She told him.
"What? Really!? A new name!" He asked.
"Yup. There were some cool names thrown around and some terrible one, but I picked out my favorite one just for you!" She told him happily.
"Really?! What is it?!" Bell asked anxiously.
"Little Rookie!" Loki yelled.
"…"
"…"
"What?" Bell asked.
"Hahaha! Did you really think we'd give you a super awesome name at level 2?! You still have a lot more work to do Bell!" Loki laughed. She loved messing with her familia.
"… Of course." Was all Bell could say. He was hoping for a super cool name that would be told in stories, but ended up with something completely normal.
"Oh well, see you Loki!" He told her and went on his way.
"Heh. Maybe I should've gone with something else. I mean, Little Rookie? What kind of name is that for someone in my familia? Well we do have High Novice as well." She said and chuckled remembering Raul's other name.
"Now, where are you running off to now, Hermes?" She asked herself remembering the denatus and all that unfolded. She would have a talk with Dionysus tomorrow to make more sense of it all.
….
Floor 12
Bell and his party had eventually found themselves at the end of floor 12 and the entrance to floor 13 after a short while of adventuring.
"Are you two ready for what's to come?" Lili asked the others.
"Hell yeah! We'll get through these floors in no time!" Welf said enthusiastically.
"Bell?" Lili asked.
"You alright?" Welf asked him. Bell hadn't said anything yet.
"Yeah. I'm just so excited! You guys are too right? I mean, this is the next step on our journey and it's happening right now!" Bell told them.
"I get what you mean! I'm getting so pumped up!" Welf yelled.
"Geez would it kill you two to act normal? Still, I'm excited too!" Lili added with a smile.
"Well, let's get going now." Bell told them.
Not even 30 minutes later…
"Why are there so many hellhounds?!" Welf yelled while cutting a hellhound in half.
"There weren't this many last time!" Lilil added.
"Well last time we had everyone else with us. Now it's just us three!" Bell said while killing 3 more hellhounds.
The dungeon decided to welcome Bell's party by spawning a ton of hellhound and Al Miraj to greet them.
"We can do this guys! Just a few more monsters left and we can take a breather!" Bell told them.
"Easy for you to say!" Welf said while dodging another one of their attacks.
….
With another party
"Don't fall behind!" A large man said to his group. It looks like they were pushed to the limit as he was carrying one of their injured members, a female human, on his back. The rest of the party followed him as he lead the way and there was an eastern looking woman bringing up the rear and slaying any enemy that caught up to them.
"Mikoto! Don't fall behind!" He yelled back.
"I won't Ouka!" She yelled. The woman, now known as Mikoto, was finishing off 2 hellhounds and quickly caught up to him.
Suddenly he stopped as they got to a clearing.
"Ouka?! What's wrong?!" Mikoto yelled to him. She turned to where he was looking at and saw another party, a small group of 3, fighting off a horde of enemies themselves.
"We're going, Mikoto." The man, Ouka, told her.
"What are you saying?! Don't tell me that you'd do that to them! It's such a dishonorable act!" She tried to reason with him.
"We're going! That's my order! I value the lives of my comrades more than the lives of strangers." He told her and the rest of the party. They all were obviously against the idea but couldn't say anything as they looked at their injured friend. "You can yell at me all you want later! For now, we go!" He yelled and took off. The others had no choice but to follow their leader.
"Agh! Almost done. Huh?" Welf said to himself. They were at it for a while and the end of their battle finally seemed near. That was, however, until they saw another party run past them with what looked like an injured member.
"What the? NO! DON'T TELL ME!" Lili yelled hoping they weren't doing what she thought they were doing.
"No!" Bell started.
"A PASS PARADE!" Welf yelled in fear.
Bell turned from the party to see the monsters that were chasing them set their sights on his party.
"RUN FOR IT!" Bell ordered. The other two ran right after him. He saw the last member look back at them with a sorrow expression for what they did before she faded into the shadows.
"Those bastards!" Welf yelled as they were running towards the exit.
"How could they do something like that!" Lili yelled in disgust, despite the fact that she may or may not have done similar stuff in the past. That's neither here nor now.
"Scorching Tempest!" Bell chanted his magic and took out the closest hellhounds to them allowing his party some more breathing room. Just then, they heard the dungeon walls crack and he looked forward to see more monsters spawning ahead of them.
"Dammit!" He yelled in frustration. The dungeon decided to pull all the stops to capture its prey. Or, at least, it planned too. The second the monsters were born they were slaughtered mercilessly.
"Huh?" The three of them said in unison.
He didn't know who it was but he remembered the monsters that were still behind him and turned around to kill them, but they were already dead. He was barely able to make out a small silhouette of a female swordswoman.
"Aiz?" He asked in disbelief. He was barely able to see her movements, but he trained with her and there was no doubt in his mind that it was her.
"Sword princess?" The other two asked in unison.
"Are you all alright?" She asked them. She had been heading her way down to the lower floors to train some more when she saw Bell's party about to be caught in a monster raid.
"Now we are." Welf sighed in relief. Lili did too. They both knew that with the sword princess here they were safe.
"Thank you, Aiz. We were caught in a bad situation just now." Bell said letting out the breath he was holding.
"Situation?" Aiz asked with a tilt of her head.
"It was terrible! We were almost done with our battle when another party pass paraded us!" Lili yelled in frustration.
"Yeah! Agh! When I get my hands on them!" Welf added also voicing his frustration.
"Oh." Was all Aiz said. Normally getting pass paraded was nothing to a high-level adventurer like her, but she knew what it meant for the lower leveled adventurers. Usually, it was a death sentence.
"Yeah. Thank you, Aiz." Bell said thanking her. The other two realized they hadn't thanked her either and quickly said there thanks.
"It was nothing." Aiz said trying to waive them off.
Just then, both Aiz and Bell felt that they were being watched. Aiz's high level senses alerted her and Bell, well, he could surprisingly tell when he was watched.
(HHMMM?! I WONDER WHO WE CAN THANK FOR THAT? Thank you Freya!)
"Who's there?!" Aiz yelled while turning around and drawing her Desperate. Bell did the same thing with his sword and stood right next to her.
"Interesting. Looks like you two noticed me." A mysterious voice answered. Suddenly, a cloaked figure just appeared in front of them.
"Sword Princess. Little Rookie. I've been watching you. Trust me when I say this, but I mean no harm." The figure told them.
They were both cautious of this mystery person, but they both felt that he was telling the truth so they slightly lowered their weapons.
"What do you want?" Aiz asked.
"I have a quest for you two. You may want to accept this as it concerns the two of you." It said.
"What is it?" Bell asked.
"There has been an irregular outbreak of monsters on the 24th floor. Several adventurers have already lost their lives because of this. I would like the two of you to investigate this and more or less take care of the situation. Of course, you will both be rewarded handsomely. As for the cause of this outbreak, we believe it has something to do with the pantry located within that floor." He said.
'An outbreak on the 24th floor? Why haven't we been told anything? Wouldn't they want Loki familia or Freya familia taking care of that fast?' Ais thought to herself.
"As a matter of fact, before this, on the 30th floor, there was a similar phenomenon occurring from where we sent Hasharna." He added. This caught everyone's attention.
"There is a high possibility that the person that attacked Rivera is involved." He finished.
"No way." Welf and Lili said silently. They remember that attack well. But not as much as Ais and Bell did. An image of the red-haired tamer went through their minds.
Ais wanted to accept this quest as this could provide some much-needed answers. However, she was conflicted to whether or not to bring Bell along. Realistically, he had no business to be down there. Despite his level, he was still a rookie compared to her and this would be his first time venturing that low. But before she could say anything…
"We accept!" Bell stated.
"What?!" Welf and Lili shouted. Ais just looked at him surprisingly.
"Thank you. I am in your debt. If possible, I would like you two to head over as soon as you can." He added before giving them instructions and then headed off.
…
"Bell." Ais said.
"I know what you're thinking Ais, but please. Take me with you!" Bell pleaded.
"Hold on Bell! You too Sword Princess! That person was reeeally sketchy!" Lili yelled. She did not like what she heard. That mysterious person was sending them to a dangerous place with no information.
"It's alright Lili! Welf, can you two make it back to the surface on your own?" Bell asked.
"Huh? Sure, we'll manage. But what about you?" Welf asked, concerned about his friend.
"I'm going too. This, whatever's about to happen, it concerns my familia. I want you two to go back to the surface and talk to Loki about this. Don't worry, she wont kill you. Probably." Bell said.
"That's reassuring." Welf deadpanned. "But seriously guys, just come back with us. If it's something serious, you can talk about it with your familia and have backup with you two." Welf reasoned.
"We're going." Ais said, surprising them. Despite how selfish it sounded, she desperately needed answers from the red-haired tamer and she wasn't going to let this opportunity slide. Besides, the look in Bell's eyes, she saw that he wanted to help her as much as he could. And if their first fight was any indication, she might need it. She promised to keep him safe and to get her answers.
"Agh! This is giving me a headache!" Lili complained. She was trying to think about all the outcomes and it was giving her a migraine. "Fine! We'll go and get help. You two better not die!" Lili yelled and took off.
"Lil'E! Wait up!" Welf yelled at her. "Seriously, don't you dare die you too." Welf warned and took off after the supporter.
"Welf. Lili. Thank you." Bell said. He turned to his idol ready to follow her. "Ais..."
"You'll have to be careful. I know what I said, but if things get too rough I want you out of there fast. Do you accept?" She asked him.
"I will!" Bell said.
"Okay. Let's go." She said and took off.
"Yes!" Bell said and ran after her.
Annnd Done!
This chapter and last chapter were originally supposed to be 1 chapter, setting up for the whole 24th floor deal. But, this took forever to write as I had writers block and felt that where last chapter ended kind of needed to be it's own little deal. I kind of have the main events somewhat planned out but for the life of me I have a hard time trying to figure out how to lead into them. What did you guys think of the last chapters? I know I said I'd try to do 10k chapters and well, I'm trying. The last chapter and this chapter combined are around 8k words if that's any better. Now we'll be starting on sword oratoria's' story with the 24th floor and afterwards the expedition to the 59th floor afterwards. Unless I'm completely missing an entire arc or something, then that goes there too. Sorry that I skipped the pass parade scene, since I know that it's important to Bell's growth, but I don't know how I could justify having Bell both just barely survive through that and throw him into the 24th floor right after. Anyway, I will try, keyword TRY, to come out with new chapters every month from now on, but no promises. I have to reread both the main series and sword oratoria to make sure I'm not missing anything and then write this story as well so it's quite a lot of reading. Also speaking of reading, as I was proofreading this I noticed that Bell's wind chant that ended with Gale Wind. Which, if I'm not mistaken, is Ryuu's adventurer name. I just thought it sounded cool as I was trying to come up with something other than wind and then Gale Wind popped up. Eh, sorry guys. For now Ima stick with it unless you guys have a cool name for wind. Speaking of that, I know I haven't said anything about what it does, but all will be revealed next chapter so stay tuned for that! Sorry for rambling, but this is the only way I can talk with you guys and just have a lot to say. I hope you enjoyed it and if you have something you want added just leave a review and if I can do it I just may add it. One question though, would you all like to see Welf and Lili added to the 24th floor battle? I might be able to write them in, maybe even the Take familia as I don't think there'll be an irregular goliath as Hestia won't be down there to fuck things up.
If I don't have another chapter up later, then happy holidays everyone! I will try to come up with a new chapter before the holidays but I will be busy then so I probably won't. But if I do, then yay! Okay this has gone long enough. See you all next time!
