Harry faltered, because he was human.
Even after all Voldemort had done to him, Harry was still human.
Voldemort was the reason Diggory was dead, and Sirius Black, and Dumbledore, and half the Weasley family, and Harry's parent's.
But Harry hesitated.
So, Draco stepped up instead, and he did what Harry was too good to do.
It wasn't hard.
He was a Slytherin after all... hatred comes natural to Slytherin's. Everyone knows that.
Some would say he did it for his father.
Some would say he did it to prove his loyalty to Harry.
Some would say he did it in order to redeem himself.
He would say he did it for her.
She would tell him he was being daft and foolish and stupid and she would tell him that he was wrong.
And when he'd simply sit there and stare at her, then, she would turn and run.
