Hey guys
Hope you all liked the last chapter
Honestly if I wanted to mute any reviews, then I wouldn't have approved them in the first place. I don't know who you are, but if you want to give me constructive criticism as you claim that you are giving me, then you should frame your words better.
If you really want me to improve as a writer, then please give me your review in a better way. Just telling me that my story is like a typical Rucas centric story does not help me understand what exactly the problem is.
I have tried to modify my story in some later chapters, taking into account the reviews stating that Maya needs someone in her corner. Obviously, I can't change the entire story overnight, so please try to be patient in the next few chapters and let me know politely if you have any more suggestions.
BTW Filipina04, I think the choice for the Rucas honeymoon destination was pretty obvious 😉
Previously:
Maya and Riley finally talk about everything that has been going on.
The next day Lucas left Riley and Maya alone claiming that he needed to get working on his surprise for his future wife.
Riley pouted for a bit because she really wanted to decide their honeymoon location together, but she also knew that her crazy in love fiancé would just know where she wanted to go and make the plans accordingly, so she wasn't really worried.
Riley and Maya spent their time discussing about what Maya could give Auggie to apologise but neither of the girls could come up with anything.
Maya says, "How is Auggie so difficult to figure out? He's a kid and they are supposed to be easy to figure out."
Riley replies, "Maya, Auggie is almost a teenager now. Teenagers are not exactly easy to figure out."
Maya asks, "How about we give him something related to the things he likes?"
Riley replies, "Oh, we could figure out his favourite television show or movie and you could paint him a picture or something."
Maya says, "Finally we're getting somewhere"
Riley replies, "I should probably ask mom about this because I'm not completely sure what he likes right now."
Maya says, "That'll be a good idea because the last show that I remember that Auggie loved was Mr. Googly"
Riley chuckles before bringing out her phone to call her mother who picks up almost immediately.
Riley keeps the phone on speaker and says, "Hi Mom"
Topanga replies, "Hi honey. How's the wedding planning going?"
Riley says, "It's going well. What are you guys up to today?"
Topanga replies, "Well we were going to have a quiet night in because Auggie is at a sleepover with Dewey, but Zay decided that he wants to have a small interview session with us for your wedding project because he doesn't have any classes today."
Riley says, "That sounds like fun. Mom, I actually called you to ask about Auggie."
Topanga replies, "Sweetie if you're worried about your brother being upset about last weekend then trust me that is not the case. Lucas really handled the situation well. I must say that boy is better than your father at explaining things."
Riley says, "Mom it's not me, but Maya who wants to apologise to Auggie about last weekend. We were hoping you could help us by telling us which show or movies he likes, so that Maya could paint him a picture of it as a peace offering."
Topanga sighs and replies, "Sweetie, Auggie usually watches baseball matches nowadays. Last time we talked about it, he mentioned that Lucas told him that you can learn a lot by simply watching a game, so he watches them religiously now. I think they both also discuss the game later on the phone. Auggie really wants to be on the team, so Lucas has been trying to help him as much as he can."
Maya says, "Hey Topanga. Is there really nothing I could make for Auggie?"
Topanga replies, "Hello Maya. I'm really sorry, but I don't think Auggie likes anything right now. I honestly couldn't tell you exactly what he likes because he spends so much of his time with Lucas. It's almost like he's trying to be just like him."
Riley asks, "You mean like how he used to pretend to be like Dad?"
Topanga replies, "Somewhat yes. The good thing is that he actually listens to Lucas and respects him, unlike with your father."
Maya perks up and says, "That's it then. I'll make a painting of him and Lucas."
Topanga thinks for a moment and replies, "That's actually, not a bad idea. Auggie was saying that we should put up a few pictures with Lucas as well now since he's officially about to be a part of the family. I think Auggie will really appreciate it."
Riley asks, "Well now this matter is settled, can you please send a nice picture for Maya to refer to?"
Topanga replies, "Well there is one they took recently that Auggie seems to like a lot, so I'll send that one to you. Cory took it the day the boys went shopping for their suits."
Maya says, "Thank you so much Topanga. I really appreciate it and I'm sorry for hurting your son's feelings."
Topanga replies, "It's alright Maya. Ideally, I probably would have been much more mad at you, but I think I can understand your point of view as well. Anyways I'll let you girls get to work on the painting. Bye Maya, Bye Sweetie."
Riley and Maya say, "Bye"
With that, Riley disconnects the call and soon enough Topanga sends the picture of Lucas and Auggie.
Riley says, "Aww… they look so good together. Who knew my future husband and my brother like each other so much?"
Maya replies, "Umm… Riles, you might want to hide that picture from Lucas because he shouldn't know about this. I think I will surprise both of them, when I give the painting to Auggie."
Riley says, "I think that's a good idea"
Riley sends the picture to Maya's phone and deletes it from her phone, so that Lucas doesn't accidentally find it.
The girls then discuss a few ideas for the wedding favours until the boys show up.
Coincidentally, Lucas and Josh enter together, talking to each other.
The girls were surprised to see them together when Josh says, "Hey Riley, I have got to say that your fiancé is really over the top. I mean who plans a honeymoon based on something you say back in seventh grade which the other person never even understood."
Lucas firmly replies, "Alright Josh, that's enough. You are not telling Riley anything else because that is supposed to be her surprise."
Riley asks, "Hang on, what are you talking about Uncle Josh?"
Josh replies, "I won't say much because this cowboy will kill me if I ruin the surprise. I'll just say that Lucas is taking you to some place that he kind of promised to take you someday."
Riley looks confused, so Lucas says, "Princess, please don't think too much into this. I promise that I will tell you about the location during our wedding reception and not wait until we're at the airport."
Riley replies, "Alright then I'm holding on to that promise, Mr. Friar"
Lucas smiles and says, "Of course, Mrs. Friar"
Maya retorts, "Not yet she isn't"
Riley decides to change the subject and asks, "So Maya, have you told your parents yet about the baby?"
Josh replies, "I'm still alive, aren't I?"
Lucas looks confused and asks, "How are those two things even related?"
Maya replies, "Well just imagine what Matthews would do to you for getting Riley pregnant because Shawn is basically the same. I really thought Shawn was cooler but apparently for this matter, they both are the same."
Riley says, "Well, they're best friends now, aren't they?"
Maya replies, "That doesn't make it better. Shawn has known Josh since the day he was born, but he still acts like Matthews does with Huckleberry here."
Lucas says, "But you guys have to tell them sooner or later. Eventually you are going to start showing and summer is also about to start so you guys would be home as well."
Josh replies, "Well, I would pick later just so that I can live longer. I'm afraid Lucas is right. We'll have to tell them because we will be needing their help as well."
Riley says, "So how about you guys tell them this weekend? You guys will be done with your first appointment also this week so you can answer their questions better."
Maya replies, "That doesn't make me feel better, but we have to tell them eventually so might as well get it over with."
Josh says, "Please save me from Shawn if and when he tries to kill me for impregnating his daughter."
Lucas replies, "We'll try our best, but we should probably tell the others as well to better our chances"
Riley says, "Well we aren't telling Zay until like a day because he's got a big mouth. Plus, there's also the fact that he's busy interviewing everyone right now so if he lets it slip anywhere, we'll have a major problem."
Josh replies, "I agree with Riley completely. No one tells Zay until the very last minute."
Lucas and Maya nod in agreement knowing very well that Zay could not keep a secret to save his life.
Lucas then says, "We should probably tell the geniuses right now because Zay isn't back yet from wherever he went today. He said he had errands to run, whatever that meant."
Riley replies, "Oh, Zay is actually interviewing Mom and Dad right now. We had a little chat with Mom in the afternoon, so she told us then."
Josh says, "Man, I really wanted to see what my brother had to say about Lucas. Nevermind, we'll just watch the recording later."
Lucas turns to Riley and asks, "Should I be worried about what your Dad will say?"
Riley giggles and replies, "Lucas can you please relax. I promise you that Dad likes you. He won't say it out loud, especially in front of you, but he does like you."
Lucas just nods nervously, still not completely believing his fiancée.
Maya then calls Farkle and Smackle to tell them about her pregnancy.
At first the geniuses were surprised but they soon got over their initial shock and did their best to reassure Maya that she would be a good mother.
Josh even informed them about the plan to inform their family during the weekend and to keep the news from Zay until the last minute.
What do you guys think about Maya's gift for Auggie?
