Part 2: A solution, a dedication, United
HOK...
RZ: How is the search going ?
Ish: No enemies yet, Find anything Swoop?
Swoop was a bit frantic as he was scrolling the screen in front of him. The Guardians were keeping an eye on the map in case of danger while the Eagle searched for a herb cure.
Swoop: Aconitum, no poisonous...please give me something-*eyes lighten* AH HA! Ruta graveolens!
Marty cocked his head to the side confused, the others a bit as well.
RZ: I believe in the bible and many cultures it is use to ward off evil. Will it work for illnesses though?
Swoop: Well, Nothing more evil than a illness-
?: Especially one fatal to us.
The group turned and Swoop paled, Marty whimper seeing K-9 had to be carried into the HOK by Fang.
Swoop: *pale* He-He's that far?
Blow-Torch: *sorrow* Yes...
Troy: *To K-9* WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED TO YOU?!
Scavenger: *sorrow* We actually know, your noting Marty's wound not healing was an important detail.
This got their attention fast.
Ash: You know what's going on?
Fang: *sorrow* Marty's wound not healing is a result of a Rusher who has been afflicted with Werenous. Werenous is different from the normal werewolf Rusher, while wereRusherz are giving it as a gift or are born with the ability, Werenous is a illness that is caused by constant influxes of energies. Painful transformation of wereness, depleting energy and blood, and-eventual death.
...horrified silence...
Ricky: Death...K-9, is dying...
Tua: Is there any cure?
Fang: *sorrow* ...For those not of the Rusher yes...but-
Fang eyes pricked with tears...Marty howled in sorrow at what he meant. One fours he rushed over and rubbed his head on K-9's. K-9 leaned his head in weakly.
K-9: *weakly* Marty...I'm so sorry for putting you through all this. For putting all of you through this.
Hearing that made the Guardians more determined to help with the new information.
Tua: Surely there is a way to help K-9? Earth might have something Cordalion did not have to combat.
Marty's wolf ears perked up and nodded as did the rest.
Ish: We're not giving up on you K-9, if we can help Marty we can help you with this illness.
Scavenger: Guys...
RZ: Remember you have friends here now, you are not facing these issues alone anymore.
Four of Rusherz sighed, and smile.
K-9: *Weakly* Heh, not surprise...but, in this stage not sure how much can be done now.
Scavenger: Least we can give it a try...
Swoop: I agree, right Torch?
Blow-Torch: *nods* Better to try, either way we're not going to lose you K-9. Even if we have to freeze you for a bit-
Fang immediately ran off into the HOK, worry on the Guardians, Rusherz and RZ faces.
Tua: I don't think he's taking this well.
They were about to follow him when a breeze went by and they saw Beast running after Fang.
Troy: Beast...he must of heard us.
Swoop: When did he come in though?
K-9: *Weakly* You know Beast, he has his ways.
RZ: The others did say they have been getting a bad feeling, and with the confirmation of K-9's condition and Marty's form it must have increased. Not to mention Beast and Fang are very close, so he must of had the feeling to come here.
Ish: I'll check on them, in the mean time you guys find some of that Ruta and get started.
All: Right!
Ish ran off to look for Beast and Fang as the others got to work.
Core room...
Ish slowly looked around for the two Rusherz. He had check every room for either one or both and so far nothing. The only place left was the core room. Ish headed towards the entrance when he heard voices, Beast and Fang. He was about to get closer when-
Beast: Fang this isn't your fault.
Fang: I-If i had just-he showed the signs so i thought-he's gonna DIE BEAST!
Ish peared behind a wall seeing both Rusherz, Fang was kneeling and holding his head as Beast was next to him.
Beast: We'll think of something, the Guardians are here this time and we have RZ-
Fang: IT WON'T BE ENOUGH! He's already so far in this fast and-just freezing him until we do find a cure it will just fester until-
Fang went silent as he looked away. Ish was about to reveal himself when Beast spoke up.
Beast: We just, can't do anything, we have to try something...even if we have to use the most derange ideas.
Fang head shot up at that, his mind racing with a plan.
Fang: We using needles for this right?
Beast: Uh year, crushing it to a liquid then inserting the needle with the cure in a sheild coin, why?
Fang jumped up and ran off, passing Ish who looked just as confused as the Lion Rusher.
Beast: *Sees Ish* I suppose you heard everything?
Ish: Yeah...wait did you-
Beast: Heard you coming, thank you for waiting.
Ish: Of course...when did you come in?
Beast got up and walked over.
Beast: Around the time Swoop said Ruta was the cure...what worries me was how K-9 illness progressed this much.
Ish gave a thought, bringing the recent events together.
Ish: It must be when he accidentally bite Marty, all those emotions and energies was all over the place.
Beast: I-I can see that being how it gotten worse fast.
It was there the alarms went off, the map of Cleveland showing red dots surrounding it.
Ish and Beast: *Sarcasm* GREAT...JUST WHAT WE NEEDED.
HOK Main room...
Troy: AN ATTACK, now?!
The Guardians and Rusherz were looking at the map as Ish and Beast entered. They saw that the Guardians had their coats on meaning they had just returned, Swoop holding a Ruta plant.
Swoop: Really! We just go from 0 to one hundred to a THOUSAND in RAPID SUCCESSION!
Marty growled as his friends turned serious, even though he was stuck in a very 'hairy; situation, he was still ready to fight and defend the core, especially his favorite team.
RZ: Swoop, you get started.
Swoop: Planing on it! Beast can you help me?
Beast: Of course, what about Scavenger and Blow-Torch?
Scavenger: While K-9 is here we shall guard over Cleveland-
Blow-Torch: *to the Guardian* And We'll head over with you guys to Cleveland for the fight.
Ricky: Thanks...we-wait, where k-9?
At that moment everyone present paled fast...K-9 was gone and by the look on the map they knew where he was.
Blow-Torch: *Panic* KIDS COVER YOUR EARS! *The Guardians do* SON OF A-
FirstEnergy Stadium...
Stellaria, Angkoro and Zich looked around the field with a large amount of Blitzborgs. It was dark and cloudy as the three went to the end-zone.
Stellaria: Finally, a day that Rusher isn't around..well, around but not seen.
Angkoro: Agree, he's been quiet hidden these past times and it's was beginning to get annoying.
K-9: *Weakly* Well today is your lucky day.
The three looked to see K-9 shaking in the field. Zich grumbled, noting the way the Rusher looked pale and weak.
K-9: *Weakly* Smart as always Zich...you know what i have-*winces in pain* A-And i rather die fighting.
K-9 grabbed his body and screamed in pain as he fell to the ground. At this time the Guardians and the two AFC Rusherz made it on the field..only to see in horror with the three rouges as K-9 PAINFULLY transformed and screamed in pain.

After what felt like forever, K-9 transformation was done as he stood fur, tail and fangs. K-9 howled load shaking all around him.
Tua: *fear* That-that was horrifying.
Ricky: *fear* And this HAPPENS to a Rusher.
Blow-Torch gulped but nodded, Scavenger trembling after witnessing the transformation. The Guardians deduced their reactions as their first time witnessing it. They were brought back to the current situation when they heard a sound of a slash and a Blitzborg torn to shreds.
Ish: Armor up...don't get bit. Last thing we want is double trouble and K-9 condition to worsen. Marty-*Marty looked at Ish* Go feral.
Marty nodded and with a howl ran onto the field tacking down, with a shout the Guardians armored up and with Scavenger and Blow-Torch ran into battle..praying that K-9 stayed alive.
Meanwhile in Paycor Stadium...
Fang never ran on four unless it was an emergency, THIS WAS A LIFE OR DEATH SITUATION. Fang had a syringe in his mouth he had gotten from the first aid room here in his stadium as he ran down to the boiler room where he would find, hopefully, a solution. He stopped and got up opening a hidden room and touched the ground with his foot. In a flash, the Megacore for the Bengals appeared. Fang quickly went in and grabbed the Megacore, taking the syringe out of his mouth and took a deep breathe.
Fang: It is going be painful but worth it.
And with that he plunge the needle in the Megacore...and screamed.
Back at the HOK...
Beast panted as he finished grounding the Ruta in a mixture with Swoop mixing the antidote.
Swoop: I swear we need a vacation or something.
Beast: I know. RZ, shield coin at the ready?
RZ: Correct.
A shield coin appeared and Swoop took some of the antidote in a Syringe and plunged it into the shield coin releasing it. The shield coin glowed as both Rusherz sighed in relief that it worked.
Swoop: Marty solution is solved...but, K-9-
Beast: We'll figure something ou-
The portal opened and Swoop was, to his, RZ, and Beast shocked, tackled by Fang who took his own syringe with a strange orange glow to it and took some of the antidote in it, mixing the liquids together making it glow even more.
Swoop: *Shock* F-Fang what the-
Fang lept off of Swoop and ran into the Browns portal. Beast and Swoop was confused, but ran after Fang with the shield coin in hand.
FirstEnergy Stadium...
Marty sliced a Blitzborg in half as Blow-Torch took it out by sending a string of fire on it. Scavenger flew around with Ricky taking down the air blitzborgs while Ash, Tua and Troy were handling Stellaria, Angkoro and Zich. Ish had lead the battle while he and the others kept an eye on K-9, who was slowly getting weaker as the battle went on.
Angkoro: This is madness *dodge Tua attack* You are protecting what is basically a dead Rusher fight.
Tua: *Hand's meet with Angkoro* We won't let him die so easily!
Stellaria: *Jumps away from Ash* He's already a foot in the grave!
Ash super kicked her away in anger. K-9 then pounced on her, throwing her into Angkoro. Zich watched from afar, before running away from Troy.
Troy: HEY! GET BACK HERE!
Zich sent a blast towards Marty before Troy reached him, everyone froze seeing how fast the blast was and Marty had no time to move...until K-9 took the blast and lept onto Zich attacking him and pushing Troy away. At this time Beast and Swoop reached the field seeing Marty close by.
Swoop: MARTY, CATCH!
Swoop threw the shield coin to Marty, who caught it and placed it in his NFLR. In a flash he was in Guardian armor, blinking and looking around fast.
Marty: I-It worked...HA! IT WORKED!
Ish: GREAT NEWS!
K-9 gave a smile, before he coughed and, while still on Zich, vomited blood on him before falling off. Zich was not fazed by this as his Cohorts watched as he slowly went to K-9, who was struggling to get up or even breathe.
Marty: *Panic*K-9!
The heroes looked and in horror saw what was going on.
Scavenger: *Panic* HOLD ON K-9!
Everyone ran to K-9, but Zich wasn't going to give them time as he prepared a blast to end K-9 misery. K-9 got up shaking and readied a attack, until a familiar Super Snarl took him out and knocked Zich into Stellaria and Angkoro, immediately taking the chance to flee. K-9 lunged at them when-
K-9: -Gasp!-
K-9 felt something pricked his chest as he looked down seeing the now empty syringe, the Guardians and Rusherz stopped close by...seeing Fang who was sweating and holding the empty syringe. K-9 starred at Fang, before his eyes rolled back as he passed out as Fang caught him.
Fang: P-Please work..please.
It was quiet and tense as they watched in fated breathe. The sky above slowly ripped open a bit revealing rays of sunlight. Slowly before their eyes, K-9 transformed back to normal leaving the ripped clothing behind and his breathing still slow. Fang panted as he smiled, before he too passed out.

Fang? Fang? Can you hear me?
Fang moaned as he slowly opened his eyes seeing Beast looking over him in relief.
Fang: B-Beast?
Beast nuzzled Fang's head, sighing as he felt a weight off my shoulder.
Beast: Thank goodness your awake.
He jumped down to the door, making Fang realized he was back in the HOK in his room.
Beast: Fang is awake!
Fang slowly got up as the guardians and Swoop ran in, relief flowing in them.
Marty: Fang, we got worried when you passed out too. Thank goodness your awake.
Fang eyes widen when he heard that, jumping out of bed and to the door.
Fang: *fear* K-9! Is he alright?! D-Did it work?!
Swoop: Fang calm down-
Fang: *Fear* PLEASE TELL ME IT WORKED AND KARNIVIOUS IN ALIVE!?
They jumped, but remained calm. Saying K-9 full name they knew he was terrified on what might had happened to him.
Ish: First, what did you do?
Fang sighed knowing that they would ask him question.
Fang: Beast, you said we would have to do the derange idea to save him right..well, I wasn't sure if the Brown's Megacore was reacting to all this or not so-i used mine.
The Guardians and two Rusherz looked at him wide eyed.
Ash: Are you saying that syringe you had was from YOUR Megacore?
Swoop: That's explain why you tacked me and took the rest of the antidote, you were on a time crunch.
Fang looked at them, pleading in silence for his answer. Nodding, they lead him to K-9's room seeing Blow-Torch coming out.
Blow-Torch: Fang's up?
Ricky: Yeah, he want's to see K-9.
Fang was trembling in fear for the worse with how quiet they were, but Blow-Torch gently smiled as lead him inside K-9 room where he saw.
K-9: *Tired* Hi Fang...
Scavenger: He just woke up too.
Fang felt his eyes sting with tears seeing a drained but still alive K-9 laying in bed. Scavenger had exchange a iv bag seeing Fang and smiled at him. Fang shoke before quickly going to the bed rubbing his head on K-9's sobbing in relief.
Fang: I-I didn't know i-if it would work-I-I-I just-*quiet* thank you...
Marty came over once Fang had calmed down rubbing head.
Marty: Thank you for saving K-9. And you guys *to everyone* thanks again for your help.
Everyone smiled, but K-9 looked away in guilt.
K-9: *Tired* Marty, I'm so sorry that I bite you and got you in this mess.
Marty: If you didn't you would-well, i can't think of what would have happened if we didn't find out about this illness.
Ish: Which you will tell us now correct?
The Rusherz blushed.
Beast: I'll talk to Freefall about teaching you guys about this...to be honest this is the first time one of us have been in a fatal illness situation.
Blow-Torch: Granted that doesn't excuse us for not telling you in the first place.
Tua: We'll learn about another day, i think we had our fair share of action and worry for one day.
Fang sighed and nodded, before curling up next to K-9. Beast warmly smiled as he went to Fang and curled up next to Fang. Scavenger took a seat and fell asleep on the chair. Swoop and Blow-Torch turned to the Guardians, who nodded as they left to tell RZ the good news and the two Rusherz took their place next to the others and fell asleep. It is safe to say this was a very close call for everyone; but despite what was thrown at them, as well as how low the outcome was for K-9 survival against this illness, their determination and dedication to eachother prevailed. The Rusherz of the AFC North, despite the fact that their teams was basically rivaled against eachother as well as their rough start with themselves, now had a unbreakable bond. With Beast and Swoop by their side as well as the now presence of the Guardians, the Rusherz of the AFC North rested from one of their most stressful and worrisome challenges yet.

K-9 took a deep breathe looking at the Megacore. He turns to see Fang coming in smiling.
Fang: How you doing?
K-9: *Smiles* Better, still feel tired but that is to be expected. Happy to have a bye week so i can rest a bit more.
Fang: Yeah.
K-9 went to Fang as they closed the vault and began to walk.
K-9: By the way, Fang, you were really sweating from what i heard.
Fang chuckled nervously rubbing his head.
Fang: Yeah, turns out plunging a syringe in a Megacore really hurts for a Rusherz. I got questions from my team asking why they felt like they were getting a shot in the arm.
K-9: Same with my team, only a lot of dogs were clinging on them.
They both chuckled before they reached the tunnel stopping. K-9 turned to Fang his smile becoming warm.
K-9: Thank you, Fang.
He reached his hand out to Fang, who grasped it in response.
Fang: Glad your safe, K-9.
With that they walked onto the field smiling.
