"Do you know what is the One True Magic?"
"Is there such a thing?"
"One True magic, also known by the term Primordial Magic... It is the most sought-after type of magic that not anyone can obtain."
"Will I be able to have it, Mama?"
"Yes, as long as you stay true to yourself. After all, It's love…"
CHAPTER 1: She's Real!
NATSU
"Lucy, I wanna tell you something…" I said, eyes trailing her features. I moved both of my arms, grasping hers before pulling her closer to me. I bit my lip to suppress a chuckle when I saw her nod in confusion then proceeded to close her eyes.
Eyes softening at the redness caused by her crying, I resist the urge to lean more. I shook my head, ridding it the thoughts that seems to plagued my mind.
"But nervemind that! I gotta tell you what I meant when I told all about my future plans!"
"Here I am moved to tears and you say "Never mind?!" That's so mean!" Lucy exclaimed slightly frowning at me. Her chocolate colored eyes were watery as she stared at me and I fought the urge to wipe them away by giving her a shrug in nonchalance.
"Really it doesn't matter! Cause' we're always going to be together now!" I grinned as I drag her outside her apartment.
I turned to her one last time before opening her door only to see her frown dissolved into a soft smile. Her eyes brightened up that I can almost visualize them as twinkling as they reflected the light that passes through the door when I opened it.
"Right!" I didn't say anything, but just tightened my hold on her hand.
I opened my eyes only to see a white ceiling. Sitting up, I recalled my dream where I dragged Lucy out of her apartment for the 100-year quest.
Well, it isn't really a dream but a memory…a precious memory that I will treasure. I felt my face slightly heat up at that thought but just shrugged those thoughts off for now as I noticed how quiet the place I'm in is.
Being aware of my surroundings, I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion.
I breathed in the air, and it really smell familiar…
It's as if a light bulb has been turned on, I bumped my closed fist onto my open palm in realization.
I'm in the guild's infirmary!
The moment of satisfaction seems to pass me by quickly as more questions flooded my head.
But, why am I in the guild's infirmary?
Aren't we in our way to the Northern continent of Guiltina to find the Magia Dragon Guild who issued the 100 year quest?
Wait…did I get into some fight or something and injured myself?
Where is everyone?!Lucy? Happy?
I looked around the place for a familiar face when I noticed Happy sleeping on the same bed I'm in. I sighed in relief.
I tried to use my heightened senses to find where Lucy is but failed.
Where is she?
I could smell Erza, Gray and Wendy from the outside so I relaxed a little. But despite feeling a little relieved, I felt agitated about the fact that I couldn't sense where Lucy is.
Realizing that I won't be able to do anything by just sitting and laying, I tried to stand up from the bed. Hissing slightly due to the sudden force I managed to put on my right foot, I placed my hand on the wall to support myself.
"Natsu?" I heard Happy's voice from behind me. Seems like I woke him up when I stood from the bed. I turned to faced him despite the uneasy feeling and grinned. "Yo Happy!"
"Natzuuuuu!" I fell down as I got tackled by the blue exceed. Did I get really injured that much for him to cry like this?
That's right! Now that's Happy is awake, I could just ask him where Lucy is!
"Hey Happy, Where is Lucy?" I questioned him when he stopped crying. He looked up at me questionably.
"Lucy? Who's Lucy?" He answered tilting his head to the side a little as if my question puzzled him.
"Geez Happy…you can't fool me. I'm your partner y'know? I know all of your tricks! So, enough pranks, where is she? I just got a feeling that I want to see her."
"Is she at her apartment? At the Library?" I said as he looked at me with widened eyes. He was just pranking me….Right?
"Erza! Gray!" I was confused when he suddenly gets off of me and flew outside the door.
What the hell is happening?
"So, you're saying that this 'Lucy' is a part of Fairytail and 'Team Natsu'?" Erza stated as she stared at me. I looked at her boredly from my seat. Really? Even Erza is a part of this prank?
"Yes! And can you all stop this prank and tell me where she is?" I said getting impatient. Where the hell is Lucy?
"Hey Ash Head! You're the one pranking us, aren't you?" Ice princess said. He kept quiet all this time, leaning on the door while staring at me which was very creepy and unsettling. I glared at him but then sighed. I was irritated at the nickname but didn't mind that as it was a topic for another time.
"Just quit it will you? Just tell me already!"
"How can we tell you something we don't even know, dumbass!"
THIRD PERSON'S POV
Frustrated at the cycle of repetitive questions, Natsu clenched his fists.
Unbeknownst to him, the sheets that he was laying at started to make a sizzling sound. The room temperature became higher as smoke started to come out of the Dragon Slayer's mouth. His eyes were sharp, staring daggers at nothing in particular.
"Natsu?" He heard Happy called out to him but he wasn't able to focus on it as he suddenly snap his attention to Erza who moved her chair closer to him.
"Are you feeling alright, Natsu? We weren't notified of this symptoms when Levy found out of your condition. So perhaps it's a side effect of you waking up? Being delirious?" She thought for a moment before turning to the others. "Happy, Gray, watch over him. I'm going to bring Wendy here to study him and for a better understanding of his condition…"Erza ordered before standing up and aiming to walk away out of the room.
"No!" Natsu exclaimed with finality as he gaze at all of his trusted friends around him.
"Excuse me?" The Scarlet haired said, brows furrowed together at the force the Dragon Slayer used in his tone.
"Hey Flamebrain! Do you have a death wish?! That's Erza right there! Do you have any amnesia or something?!" Gray hissed at his rival but it went unheard by him.
"There is something wrong here! Why're you all acting as if she doesn't exist?! She's your nakama, our family! How the hell can you forget about her?! If this is a prank, stop it cause' it's a sick one! It's isn't even funny!" Natsu fumed.
He doesn't know how to feel! Confusion, Anger, Longing, Fear, Hope kept battling each other, wanting to overcome one another.
He just woke up and they are acting as if I just have to open up and take all of this bullshit–that he's sure are not true–and expect not to get an ounce of retaliation in return!
He doesn't know how to react so he chose to turn to the one that he's most comfortable with, Anger.
"You're the one who's acting strange idiot! We were all worried about you and then here you are, waking up asking us if we're pranking you? It's like you're belittling everything that we've been through; all those years worrying, taking care of you and being scared of you never waking up again, are all a part of a joke?!" Gray yelled out, walking towards the Dragon Slayer and proceeded to take ahold of his collar. Natsu glared back at him, shaking his grip off as he stood up.
"Just answer my question so I can finally have some peace of mind!"
Scotch mark and ice shards slowly appeared into the room, the temperature rose and decreases at the same time.
NATSU
"You shut it! Why are you freaking out for a person I knew that you never met?! I bet that 'Lucy' isn't even real!" He countered back.
"What the hell?! Lucy is real! Stop fucking around and tell me where she is!" I exclaimed, feeling enraged because of uneasiness and confusion.
"I'm not fucking around! Just stop spouting this nonsense and come back to your senses! We waited for two fucking years! We waited for you to wake up from your sleep and then this! You wake up, searching for this girl that I knew you never met! Can you just shut up and rest pyro?!" He glared at me.
"I know you are confused but we were just glad that you are awake…Whoever this Lucy is, I'll help you search for her after some rest alright?" Erza continued as I stared at my clenched my fist in my lap.
What the hell is happening?!
I heard the door closing and I figured that they left. Even Happy left me alone which I'm grateful of.
I closed my eyes as think I of a certain blonde and tried to calm down;
Her chocolate brown eyes that seems to brighten up whenever she's happy…
Her smile that could swell one's heart because of how genuine it is…
Her heart that forgives and always sees the good in everybody…
Remembering her and also considering the things that Erza and Gray said earlier felt heartbreaking.
Before I knew it, tears swell up my eyes that slowly travels down my cheeks.
I'm not the type to cry but thinking what they said earlier…
Just thinking about Lucy not existing and not being a part of my life made me feel scared, which I'm not used to.
Natsu!
I fight the urge of making some noise as I continued to think of her. Heck, I could still hear her saying my name!
She holds a special place in my heart and without her, I felt incomplete...
I know myself as the type of a person who never gives up but I will use this day to reminisce the memories I have with her.
This will strengthen my will to defend Lucy's existence to everyone who tells otherwise cause' I know that she's real!
I will prove that she's real...
Her name is Lucy Heartfilia.
She's my best friend.
She's my partner.
And she's the one I love.
I know I regret not being able to say what I felt.
I will find her, I promise.
