ONE TRUE MAGIC

"Do you know what is the One True Magic?"

"Is there such a thing?"

"One True magic, also known by the term Primordial Magic... It is the most sought-after type of magic that not anyone can obtain."

"Will I be able to have it, Mama?"

"Yes, as long as you stay true to yourself. After all, It's love…"

A/N:

I just wanted to say something in regard to how Natsu and the rest are acting to the first two part of the story.

First of all, Natsu is confused and frustrated of what is happening. He woke up to find that no one except him knows who Lucy is and what happened to her, which is frustrating in his part since she is an essential part of his life. It was also implied, based from what Gray and Erza said, that everything that has happened to him (In the manga and in the anime), is not real and for the past two years, he was in a coma-like state. So try to understand his side and why is he acting that way. Second, Erza and Gray were glad that Natsu is finally awake. In their perspective, they waited for him to wake up for years but when he did, he implied that they were just pranking him and is urging them stop with their 'act' and tell him about a person they knew nothing about (Lucy). Imagine their 'grief' for two years being described as a prank or some sort of a joke? Who would be happy? (From Gray's 'outburst' in Chapter 1) They are just confused like Natsu. Now, for Wendy, based on what was already on the story, haven't met Natsu. From what she remembers, she joined Fairy Tail without meeting him. Natsu knows her based from his memories.

Did I explain it right? Sorry, I suck at explaining things. I just wanted to clarify some things based from what was in the story so far. A reminder though, you will be slightly confused of their 'memories'.

And that's all! So, sorry if they are acting different from who they are in the manga and anime… I'll try to do better for the next chapters!

And oh, before I forgot, THANK YOU FOR THE REVIEWS! Sorry for the late update!

Hope you like this chapter!

CHAPTER 3: Her Scent.

UNKNOWN

"I told you to kill them! You're wasting that magic of yours because of some damned principles!" Instead of defending myself, I just looked away. I still respect him regardless of his wrongdoings and insults so I stayed quiet. I know the reason why he is being like this but going against what I believed in like killing people who I know have pure kindness in their heart? No, I can't do that.

"Why is she a part of us anyway? She's just a scaredy-cat who tend hide behind her fellow members when it was time to kill…Honestly, hey why did you join us again? You don't belong here…" I heard a woman's voice added. I glared at her. I can't have some lowly bitch insult me.

I snap my fingers then slowly walked away. Hearing the sound of tearing flesh and a scream, I smirked. Well, her heart is as dark as the color black anyway so I'm not 'tainting' my principles here, right?

"You refused to kill some fairies and yet here you are killing one of us?" A voice echoed the place. I merely shrugged and scoffed at his statement, "One of us? Seriously? And she can't even intercept my magic to defend herself?"

"Geez… that attitude of yours is really irritating. Anyways, just stop before my ears bleed cause' of this woman's screech" As soon as he finishes what he was saying, the irritating screams stopped and was replaced by continuous sobs. Seriously? Why can't this woman just shut up?! I already stopped it!

Ignoring his presence, I turned to the man who is currently watching what is happening and bowed my head slightly as a sign of respect.

"I have to go now and finish what you have asked me to do, Master"

"Very well but don't you dare disappoint me again! I've had enough of your principles!" I once again forced myself to stop and swallowed my retort. How about a no? I respect you but it doesn't mean I will follow your order blindly. I'm not a puppet. Lowering my gaze, I bowed and walked out of our 'hideout'.

NATSU

After talking to Erza and the rest, Gramps delivered a short speech about my 'return' which was accompanied by the guild's cheers. I acknowledge their greetings and their cheers by giving them a small grin.

Despite what is happening, I can't just let them down by telling them that something is wrong cause' from what they know and 'remembered', I was asleep for two whole years. I still don't know the nature of this spell, if it's a spell, but I assumed that if their memories were somehow altered, I can sympathize with them, I guess. From their point of view, they waited for me for 2 years, and placing myself in their shoes? I would also feel like celebrating a nakama's return.

After Gramps exclaimed "LISTEN UP BRATS! TO CELEBRATE THE RETURN OF ONE OF OUR OWN, DRINK UP AND LET'S PARTY!", I sat down and observed my surroundings. It was still the same scenario that I used to see, the only thing missing is a celestial mage's usual form on one of the highchairs placed by the bar, where Mira is currently attending Warren's and Max's orders.

I remembered being aware of what she was doing or saying despite having my usual brawl with droopy eyes. I don't even know when it started, it's just that one day I find myself enjoying her company. I wanted to be always be there for her. And if there are times when I wasn't? I would still glance or sometimes listen to what she was saying. My heightened senses really came in handy to this.

It's just really not the same without her…

Realizing that I had stayed too long, I stood up.

Understanding my intention, Happy flew on the top of my head after putting the fish he was holding to his green bag.

"Let's go, Happy!"

"Aye Sir!" He exclaimed, agreeing to come with me even without being told where we are going and what will I do. The trust he has in me lifted my spirits up.

I was almost by guild's door, when a force suddenly yanked me towards the opposite direction. I stumbled and fell to the floor. "You okay Happy?" He nodded assuring me that he is. Looking at the cause of my fall, I was confused to see Erza frowning down at me.

"Where are you going? It would be rude to just leave since you're the reason we're having this party in the first place…"

"Sorry but I need to go…" I replied as I stood up, fixing my scarf that she used to stop me earlier.

"Natsu…" If everything is normal, I would probably cower in fear because of the glare she's sending me but now?

I glared back at her with the same intensity of hers.

"I already told you the reason! I won't sit back and pretend that everything is normal!"

"As I said earlier, we'll help you, Natsu…but look at the guild. The atmosphere's never been like this ever since you've got into an accident…" Her gaze softens and then travelled around the guild. She managed to show a small smile as she observed everyone's weird antics and behavior. Looking away, I felt bad that I can't do what she asks me to do.

"I know you don't remember her, but I do! And I feel useless knowing that I can't do anything about what is happening!" With that, stormed out of the guild.

This may be perceived as a selfish act but this is for the best. I may have hurt her and disappoint the guild by leaving, but I can't waste any more time. I need to know what is happening, for Lucy and their sake too.

I don't know if I made a mistake by telling them what is going on but I know Erza and the others will always be there to back me up cause' that's our way.

The Fairy Tail way.

"Natsu, are you okay?" I heard Happy asked on our way to Lucy's apartment. Since I don't know the nature of the magic or spell that caused all of this, I need to know its extent.

If it only affects memories like Mest, all I need to know is how to stop it by asking him or researching about how that magic works. Is it only the guild? What about the people associated with her?

If it could erase someone's existence like what happened to Lucy with that 'invisibility potion' of hers, there's two possible solutions that I can think of; either it will eventually wear out on its own or one's awareness. Which is unlikely cause' I remember her.

"I'm fine. I just want some answers…" I replied, slowing down as I neared the bridge near the apartment.

"Hey Natsu, tell me about her…"

"Who? Lucy?" I confirmed.

"Aye!" I hummed and thought about the time when we first met her.

"Hmmm…" I put my hand inside of my pockets, looking up to stare at the blue sky.

"She's Lucy Heartfilia and Fairy Tail's very own celestial mage. We met her at Hargeon while we are on our way to search for the 'Salamander' which we thought as Igneel. It turns out this guy, Bora, uses charms to recruit women and bring them to Bosco in his illegal ways. We saved her and brought her to the guild…"Not waiting for any response from him, I continued. "She's loud, short-tempered and is constantly stressed of paying the rent of her apartment but nevertheless, she's kind, loyal, selfless and so much more than what meets the eye. She's our partner, Happy…"

"I wish I could meet her..." I heard him mumbled. I pat his head to comfort him.

"You already met her, Happy...I don't know what is happening but I'll make you remember her!"

"Ne, Natsu..." I heard him mumbled out after a few seconds of silence.

"What?"

"You like her right?" He inquired.

For a moment I stopped. I don't only like her, Happy… And it's even you who made me realize that.

I chuckled. I can almost hear his 'you likkkeeee her' statements.

I'm not that oblivious to romance unlike what the guild thinks. I am well aware of what my feelings are.

Just because I didn't show it, doesn't mean I don't know any of it.

"I love her…" I answered him, grinning.

"Do you know someone named Lucy Heartfilia?" I asked the woman that I saw coming out of the apartment.

Lucy's landlady…

"No and why are you asking me?" She asked. I furrowed my eyebrows when I saw a flash of recognition flashed through her eyes but then it quickly disappears. I momentarily thought that she still has her memory and that she recognize me but I just shrugged the idea of it since why would she act this way if she really did remember?

Despite acting like a snob and as someone strict on Lucy's rent due, I know that she really care and has a soft spot to her.

"Who is currently living in that apartment?" I ignored her question and pointed the apartment in front of us. She huffed because of her ignored question.

"A girl about your age, I guess…" Could it be Lucy? But why did she say she didn't remember her then?

"What is her name?!" Excitement and hope filled me as I anticipate her answer.

"And why would I give it to you?" Ugh! Just give me her name!

"I assure you that I'm not a bad guy…I'm a part of Fairy Tail, see?" I showed her my guild mark. "Just tell me her name…Just her name."

I released a sigh of relief when I saw her nod.

"Her name is Light…" I was disappointed of her response but I thanked her.

I sighed. So much for getting my hope up.

I shook my head to get rid of some negative ideas. I shouldn't be discouraged!

I can go to the library! Or to the Heartfilia Mansion! There is so many place that I could go to prove Lucy's existence!

But still...

I stared at the window I frequently used as an entrance to her apartment. I know that Lucy is not there but it doesn't hurt to take a peek right?

It's just comforting to see the places that remind me of her...

With that thought in mind, I climbed to the window, Happy following after me.

I don't really know what to expect. What if her things or any traces of her from that room is gone? Well, if that's the case, isn't it normal? There is a new occupant.

I frowned at that thought. I don't like the idea of anyone other than Lucy occupying this apartment.

We have so many memories at this place.

Looking at room using the window, I was confused to see the usual pink bedsheets, study table and books. My eyes roamed the place, ignoring the hope that is building up inside me because of the familiarity.

I know that I was kind of trespassing but I didn't stop myself from opening the window. I entered the room with caution and uses my heightened senses to know if anyone is at the room.

Knowing that no one is at the room, I ushered Happy to enter.

"Natsu?" Happy said. I turned to him and give him a look that says 'Trust me' and he nodded in return.

I observed the place, comparing it to the one in my memory.

I found it odd and suspicious to see how much their resemblance are.

If I remember it correctly, Lucy did ask her land lady to monitor her apartment. She even payed 1 year in advance from the money that she got by publishing her book!

I didn't think much about it earlier when her land lady said that someone else is occupying this room but thinking about it now, this apartment shouldn't be occupied!

Amidst of my confusion, I didn't notice the footsteps outside the room.

I only looked up when I felt Happy moving in my side and once I caught a familiar scent.

A very familiar one...

The sound of door opening filled the silent room. Watching as her eyes widen at the sight of me, she pointed the umbrella she's holding towards me.

"W-WHO ARE YOU?! WHAT ARE YOU DOING AT MY APARTMENT?!" Despite what she is saying, no words came out of me to defend myself from her accusations. I stood there, making a fool of myself as I stared at her.

Slowly, my frustration, confusion–Hell, all of the emotions that I felt from yesterday and today clashed with each other.

Damn it! Don't let this be an imagination cause' fuck! I don't want to get my hopes up and let it be crashed anymore...

I managed to take a step followed by another. I saw her freeze and clenched her hold on the umbrella tightly which made me chuckle slightly. Why is she so cute?

She really does have that effect on me that made me feel like everything is going to be okay.

The distance between us decreases and I enveloped her with a hug. I felt her struggle but I didn't let go.

I won't let her go...Not anymore.

I hope she is able to feel the emotions that I hope to make her feel from this hug. I almost teared up but I managed to stop myself.

Her struggles died down as I nuzzle my face on her neck, inhaling her scent.

My favorite scent...Her Scent.
