Hi

Did I have motivation while writing this? No. Am I proud of it? A little. Could it be longer? Yes

Marcus stared confused at the glowing green fork – trident – above his head. He was a son of Poseidon. Poseidon. The literal flipping god of the sea. Realization hit Marcus that he was a bastard child.

He never thought it. His mom told him he was born in a normal life. His mum, Rebecca, had married a man. Marcus never learned the man's name. His mum said his father was some important name and names had power.

It wasn't completely false. His father had abandoned them and sailed off to sea. Which painted his father in a bad light.

His mom latter married a nice man, Paul, and he helped Marcus get through school. Even with dyslexia and ADHD, Paul helped Percy get through school.

He got relatively good grades and his teachers seemed to like him…well except for a few.

Marcus got so distracted in his thoughts he forgot all about the entire camp kneeling in front of him.

"Marcus" Chiron cleared his throat, "Let us go talk in the big house."

I nodded silently and followed him. I could hear the clang of armor being taken off and the campers distinctly chattering and whispering and gloating.

Chattering about me being a son of Poseidon.

Whispering about the oath and how I shouldn't be born.

Gloating about winning Capture the flag.

"You seem quite dazed, my boy." Chiron slowed down from his walk and matched his pace to mine.

"Yeah," I ran a hand through my hair (the knots got in the way a bit), "My mom always told me my father had abandoned us. Which isn't completely false, but I never thought-"

"Don't blame your father. He had to leave you. The ancient laws dictate it so." I could see a wistful expression on Chiron's face.

"I wish they could visit you kids," Chiron's hooves went click, clack, click, clack as we walked up the wooden stairs, "More demigods would survive, and would be happier."

I hummed a noise of agreement, still a little dazed.

"Ah Matt Rodger. Your father finally decided to claim you?" Dionysus slurred from the polka dot couch inside the big house. Marcus always found that couch weird.

The god of wine reminded Marcus so much of Smelly Gabe that he wanted to just punch him across the face.

Marcus just gritted his teeth and bit out, "It's Marcus Rowles sir."

"Yeah yeah I don't care. You and Penny John look so alike." The god of gambling waved his hand casually.

Chiron shot him a glare, "Have you been drinking Mr. D? You know the rules."

"No, it's grape juice." Dionysus sadly stared at the wine glass filled with fake wine.

Chiron nodded and motioned for Marcus to continue to follow him. They walked past the rec room, which Marcus had only seen due to a prank with Connor and Travis. They had rigged the ping pong table to explode.

Marcus ignored Dionysus and hurried along to Chiron. The centaur led him into his office. The room was made of celestial bronze, with an old fashioned computer sitting on a wooden desk in the center. There were two chairs, one on either of the desk.

There wasn't much else in the room. A couple bookshelves filled with old and new books lined the left wall. An older music player sat on a bookshelf, with cd's stacked up next to it.

Chiron motioned for him to sit down in a chair. Marcus pulled the chair out, which made a screech sound, and sat down.

Chiron moved the other chair out of the way and stood across from Marcus.

"I need you to listen to me carefully." Chiron started, "It will not take long before Zeus discovers you were claimed. Outrage will break out on Olympus, especially with what is already going on. I need you to listen carefully to Luke in sword fighting class, and pay attention to Annabeth when she teaches you about our mythology. This could lead to your life or death. The king of Olympus and the king of the underworld will send monsters after you. Your father might not even be able to keep you safe."

Chiron's seemed to age older infront of him. His eyes almost became a darker brown, his beard and hair got grey streaks.

"Yes sir…What's happening in Olympus?" I cautiously ventured to ask.

Chiron paused for a minute.

"The master bolt was stolen. The god of lightning blames your fath"er. If he finds out that you were born," the centaur shook his head, "It will mean trouble, but your father might also be using you. You might be his only chance to redeem his honor"

I gulped, "What do you mean by that?"

Worry and anxiety piled into my chest. Would I have to fight Zeus? Would I have to fight Hades?

"If- no when Zeus finds out you were born he will blame you for stealing the bolt. Your father is claiming you because if you find the bolt and return it, Poseidon's glory will be restored." Chiron elaborated.

I mentally growled. I was only claimed for my father to use as an escaped. No other reason. Not because he cared. Not because he was kind. No, it was because he wanted to use me.

"Don't be mad at your father my boy. Let us move you to the Poseidon cabin." Chiron ushered me out.

Luke patted him on the back, "Son of the almighty sea god? That's one powerful father kiddo. Are you still gonna have time to visit old normal me?" Luke pretended to be sad and stared at Marcus with puppy dog eyes.

"Stop bothering him Luke and let him move out" hollered Percy from where she lay on the floor.

There was a custom made braille book in front of her. The Hermes cabin, plus Annabeth and a few others, teamed up together to get it for her last year. Her fingers delicately traced over it.

"For once I agree with Persephone." Octavian agreed.

He was sat down on the bed he shared with Luke and looked quite impatient.

"Oh please," Percy snorted and stopped 'reading', "You just want alone time with Luke. Which is not happening because I'm here."

Octavian rolled his eyes, not that Percy could see, "Oh you are leaving Annabeth wants to see you."

"Wait really? When? Where is she?" Percy jumped to her feet.

"Wow slow down kiddo," Luke placed his hands on her shoulders. Marcus suddenly felt invisible.

"She wants to see you after the counselor meeting, which we have to go to." Luke reminded her.

"Aww. I don't want to. Those meetings are always so boring." Percy whined and gave the son of Hermes the pouty lip.

"I know, I know but you wanted to co-lead the cabin with me. Speaking of leading the cabin, Marcus you have to attend that meeting." Luke turned towards him with a bright smile.

"Right, I'll be there." I nodded numbly. So much was happening so fast.

Luke grabbed my bag for me and walked me out the door.

We walked slowly towards the Poseidon cabin. I had to speed walk to keep up with Luke. He was taller than me by quite a bit.

I looked up to see the light of the sun reflecting off of his sandy blond, making it look more like a golden blond. His blue eyes shimmered in delight as he slung my bag over his shoulder.

He turned his head towards me, "So, how does it feel? To be the son of Poseidon."

"I dunno honestly. It's confusing and a bit overwhelming, but also cool. I wonder what my powers are."

Luke hummed and continued walking. We reached the Poseidon cabin. I had seen it before, but never paid much attention to it.

The walls looked to be coral, not dead, but they weren't supper colorful. Mostly different shades of dull blues with coral (the color) accents. The roof was standard tile with shells scattered about it.

I pushed the door open.

Creeek

The inside was beautiful. There was a fountain sitting in the corner. A door led to what Marcus presumed to be a bathroom. A bed sat in the corner with sea-green bedsheets and blanket, with white pillows. The walls were decorated with various pictures and shells.

One that stood out to Marcus was a picture of dolphins leaping out of the water. A red and gold sunset was painted behind them.

I did a double take as I realized that they weren't dolphins. They were hippocampi. Their tails were beautiful shades of green, blue and purple.

Seagulls flew around them, and Marcus could just imagine the scene in real life.

Luke cleared his throat by the door way. He hadn't actually stepped inside the cabin.

"Catch," Luke tossed him the bag.

I stumbled a bit as I caught it. I threw a glare towards Luke. He just chuckled.

"The counselor meeting is in fifteen minutes. Be there in ten." Luke reminded.

The older boy proceeded to walk away off to who knows where. I took in more of the cabin. It was so pretty honestly.

Did I have time to take a nap..? No, sadly I didn't. I still flopped down on the bed however. A knock on the door stopped me from closing my eyes.

I lifted my head up to see a grey eyed, blond haired daughter of Athena standing in the door way.

"Can I come in?" she asked tentatively.

"Sure. What do you need Annabeth?" I mentally cursed her as I sat up. I was really looking forward to a little nap.

"Can we- I- will this change the way we act around each other?"

"What do you mean?" I tilted my head.

She facepalmed, "Do you pay attention to when I teach you? Poseidon and Athena are enemies. I'm asking if you care that they are and if we can remain…friends."

"Oh. I remember that, of course I pay attention," I offered a grin, "We can remain friends, as long as you don't mind."

She flashed me a big smile, "Not at all. I'm glad your ok with this."

"Why wouldn't I be? Our parents don't define us." I responded.

She shrugged, "They can, but we should head to the meeting. You are a camp counselor after all."

"I say we kill him off."

"What no!"

"Why not?"

"It's just cruel."

"What's happening again?"

"EVERY QUIET." Percy slammed her hands down on the table, which resulted in a pencil tower falling down (built by Pollux and Luke). The constant arguing was giving her a headache.

"Let's settle this civilly." She said, a scowl etched onto her face. Marcus was honestly scared of her.

"I agree." Annabeth seconded that.

"Why should we? My father would just kill him off." argued Clarisse.

"None of us are your father though Clarisse." Percy shut her down.

Chiron stood in the corner, pride evident in his eyes. The little girl he had been raising was finally ready to take control.

"Can I get inpu—" Marcus tried to interject.

"Shut up." Percy snapped, "We aren't killing Marcus. If anything that's up to the gods, but from what we know they don't know he's claimed. Other than Poseidon, obviously."

"So then what do we do?" questioned Miranda, head of the Demeter cabin.

"What if we just treat him like a normal camper?" drawled Lee in a bored voice. Lee was an excellent head of the Apollo cabin, but after a long day he got a little grumpy.

"I second that." Annabeth agreed.

"I third that." Luke started a train.

"I fourth that." Said Pollux, head of the Dionysus cabin.

"I fifth that." Stated Miranda.

And so on it went. Only Clarisse disagreed. She stood up and stormed out.

"Did she storm out..?" questioned Percy just to clarify.

"Yes." Annabeth informed her.

"Oh well, meeting adjourned. Unless anyone else has anything to discuss."

"Aside from the fact that you are becoming a great leader, meeting dismissed." Chiron praised Percy with a light smile on his face.

The mentioned girl gained a blush on her face at the praise. The campers filed out, and Annabeth grabbed Percy's hand to lead her away.

Annabeth lead Percy away to the beach. She dug her bare toes into the soft sand. The waves lapped at the shore.

"Percy..I have something to tell you." The daughter of Athena started. She grabbed Percy's hand in her own and stood in front of her, "I really really like you, and it's more than a friendship. I- I understand if you don't like me back. But you are so pretty and funny and awesome and I just- I have a crush on you and-" Percy stopped her rambling by tackling her to ground.

She planted her lips to Annabeth's face and kissed her cheek.

"I like you too." The green eyed girl whispered.

Annabeth smiled softly as she cupped Percy's face and pulled her into a kiss. Their lips touched and – Oh Annabeth had waited for this for so long.

Percy's hand entangled into Annabeth's hair.

"I KNEW IT!" Percy sprang off Annabeth and onto the sand when someone jumped out of the bushes.

Silena, Luke, Will Solace, and the Stolls emerged from the tree line. Annabeth let out a groan. Silena squealed as she ran over.

"I knew it!" She shouted as she turned over to Will and Luke, "Pay up."

She made a grabby motion with her hand. Luke and Will both grumbled as they each fished out a bag of drachmas from their pockets.

"You guys were betting on us?!" questioned Percy.

"Of course sweetie. I'm the daughter of the love goddess. You both were pinning..a lot. It was getting annoying so we placed bets." Silena cooed as she patted Percy's head. The latter's head was no covered in sand. She sneezed as some landed near her nose.

Annabeth grabbed her and said, "C'mon Perce, let's get out of here."

"Yes, let's go." Percy nodded and stood up.

"Be back soon Percy! Don't get up to anything." Luke wiggled his eyebrows.

A hot blush sneaked its way up on both Percy and Annabeth's faces. They both just walked away to hang out.

Percy x Annabeth will be so fun to write. I'm probably gonna do bad at it, but whatever. They are only 12 or 13 so it is a little young to be in a relationship but I don't care.

FYI, Marcus is not meant to have the same back story as Perseus Jackson in the original series. Hence why I changed his last name, his mom's name, and back story.

Welp- see y'all next month.
