Michael was a very busy angel.

It's been a very common topic for eons now, ever since God had died actually. As the direct substitute to his Creator, the Archangel had to do much to prevent issues from erupting in Heaven, especially when it comes to dangerous trends. The passing of time tended to erode the interest of many, even those among angels, to pursue a virtuous and pristine lifestyle. And while Michael was quite willing to offer some leeway if a couple of those modern trends showed some improvements that couldn't be ignored, he was also capable of regretting decisions.

Such as buying a phone directly connected to Azazel's own and thus giving his wayward brother a chance to nag on him whenever possible.

There were instances the direct connection offered a quick channel of communication in case of emergencies, but it was more common for him to call to tease him, prank him and, worse of all, trying to further the cause of his silly club trying to find Gabriel in indecent circumstances. Their poor sister just couldn't be subjected to that sort of malicious intent.

Yet, as Azazel called that morning, Michael's expectation of having to deny the umpteenth request from the Governor General of Grigori over sending a 'reporting group to interview Gabriel' was shattered by the topic that was swiftly brought up by his sinful brother.

"And you are sure that the information you have on this group is verified?"

"If it wasn't, I wouldn't have bothered calling, Mike. I just need you to help me with a few of your heavy hitters so we can bust their base of operations."

A sigh worked its way out of the blond's lips. That nickname had long stopped bothering him, but that wasn't what irked Michael. It was the fact that Azazel had been following the tracks of an organization responsible for rallying various threats to humanity and pantheons as a whole without ever bringing this up to him. He was even tempted to consider the chances of his foolish brother actually keeping tabs open with Hell's leaders for longer in this case.

Then again, Heaven had kept itself away from handling mortal affairs that went beyond the reach of the Church. Not for a lack of trying, but years of efforts during the early stages of the Great War had shown how many potential groups could easily collapse under the right sin. So, while Michael was upset that he wasn't informed earlier on the matter, he recognized his own skepticism on believing such a threat.

And with Azazel actually sending him an email containing the pertaining documents on the matter, he allowed this slight to go without repercussion. The documents themselves spoke a wider story as it was made available to his awareness how the main reason for this 'Khaos Brigade' to be was to allow its founder, Ophis, to remove Great Red from her previous home.

Which is also why it confused him immensely when he realized that the source of this data was the very founder herself. Why? She no longer wanted to go back or, rather, found plenty of reasons to not go back. In Azazel's own wording, she 'made a good friend with someone he knows about and trust'. Which was far from good news if Azazel trusted him this much. After all, what were the chances they may end up having to deal with the Infinity Dragon in an eventual war against Grigori? High. Definitely high.

Still, the Khaos Brigade bore more relevance and unease than this notion. Peace had lasted for long enough as good relations had developed among the various factions and an alliance to crush this large rebellion would not only increase their individual prestige but also reinforce the concept of peace for those that didn't believe it to be a tangible option.

The real gripe was finding the right group to send. Two angels would do, but finding which one to send was a bit more complicated. He had Gabriel in mind, but he needed someone that could not only handle this sort of task but also protect Gabriel from getting approached by unpleasant people. And, after a few hours, a solution came to mind as he called for the ideal partner for Gabriel.

"Michael, you... summoned me," A timid voice greeted him and yet the sight made him pause out of genuine unease.

Despite the sight of a young angel with a pair of dark wings may suggest many that she was a Fallen one, this one was blessed since conception by God Himself with these black feathers, signs of the darkness that follow through her burden to preserve the end of all mortals' lives within their natural meaning.

White was her hair, darkly-purple her eyes. She was wearing what many would confuse for a black-themed school uniform, an outfit picked to symbolize faux naivety and innocence to render her life's task feasible. On top of her head, a ruined black crown hovered as gems of violet decayed from it with the sounds of groaning souls stirring inside them.

Azrael, Angel of Death, answered his call with dedication and a hint of surprise.

"Azrael, it's been a while."

Far too long, he chided himself, well aware that God made an effort to integrate the poor girl in the group of faithful ones, but never once succeeding due to the general refusal from many. The logic wasn't as flawed as one would expect by stereotypes, but rather an awareness of potential looming tragedy around the corner wherever Azrael tended to walk to.

Not just bad luck, but genuine tragedy with a high chance of death or despair. Angels were immune to this, but none was willing to 'dare and confirm this'. Truly a shame, but at least Azrael was able to endure the troublesome loneliness through her own unfair job. And right now, Michael needed Heaven's Death to be on a warpath to end this rebellion.

"I have a mission for you," He spoke up again as he gestured to her to take a seat. The girl did so and silently waited for her new task. "You shall assist Gabriel in ending a rebellion against humanity. You will follow her guidance and act under her orders, yet you shall also protect her from... concerning siblings."

"Azazel is not that bad," She gloomly rebuked and Michael sighed.

He knew why Azazel did not lust after her, with the burden she bore being one reason and the fact she was 'flat' being another.

"And I accept this task, Michael."

That's... a good starting point.

REVIEW Q&A!

Rush: I am not sure it would be a good Idea to put the VC story here for a very simple reason: I am using maps which I can't attach to chapters in FFN. I may consider putting it in AH in a 'censored' version for any loods, but that's as much as I can do about it.

PeterIsTheWolf: I thought about it, but it's that sort of commitment that would require a lot of space in my schedule. I may be able to produce a lot of stuff frequently, but it's mostly because some of this stuff is… 'quick to think and to write' rather than requiring an heavy philosophical commitment. I will consider it in the future tho..
