Ultraviolet figured it was about time to leave her room. It had been 3 days and she only left once. And that was for 10 minutes
She wanted to sleep. She wanted to stay in bed forever. But Harumi told her to get up
One day, Harumi came in, with a plate of food. She opened the curtains and placed the food down on her bed
"Ultraviolet, it's been 2 days. You have to eat at some point."
Ultraviolet groaned
"Why, Harumi?"
Harumi sighed
"You're a human. Humans have to eat."
"You didn't act human for a year and a half, skipping meals all the time."
Ultraviolet immediately regretted these words after seeing the hurt look on Harumi's face
"Don't... Ever... Say... That... To... Me... Again..." Harumi said darkly with a dead look in her eye
"Look, that was jerky. I'm so sorry Harumi. I don't know what got into me." Ultraviolet apologized
"It's ok, Ultraviolet. I know it's been a tough few days."
Both girls were quiet for a second
"Eat the breakfast, then come downstairs. This place is depressing right now." Harumi then left, and closed the door behind her
Ultraviolet did as she was told
As she was eating, she got a text. She looked down and saw it was from her twin brother, Haru. He hadn't contacted her since she was disowned
She shuddered at that memory
She looked down at the text and almost passed out, similar to what happened with Harumi with Killows text
"Hi, Ultraviolet. I know we didn't end things on the best terms last time we see each other. But I have bad news. Your half-cousin, Amara, committed suicide last month. Mom and dad didn't want me to tell you, but I did anyway. The funeral is this weekend, at a church in Midvalle. I can text you the address, if you're up for it. Also, if you have a girlfriend, bring her. I would love to meet her."
Ultraviolet didn't know what to say. Her mom and dad still wanted nothing to do with her. After all of this time too...At least her brother still wanted to contact her
She decided to text him back
"Hi, Haru. What is the address?"
She was surprised as to how fast he responded
"2427 Lone Oak Lane. It's on Saturday at 2 pm. Please come. I need you to slap logic into mom and dad. I'm sick of their homophobic ways. Save me."
Wow. So her brother wasn't like her parents. She figured he could change for the better

The next morning, Ultraviolet went downstairs for breakfast. She had slept a lot the day before.
She figured she should tell Harumi about Amara and her brother
That was easy, as Harumi was sitting at the table, drinking coffee and eating a bagel with fruit
"Harumi, I have something to tell you."
Harumi turned around and saw Ultraviolet
"Sure, UV. What's up?"
"You know Haru?" Ultraviolet asked as she sat down
"Your twin brother?" Harumi asked
"Yes." Ultraviolet said
"What about him?"
"Well...my half-cousin, Amara, died by suicide last month."
Harumi clapped her hand to her mouth
"Ultraviolet...that's horrible. But what does Haru have to do with that?"
"Well...he invited me up to Midvalle for the funeral on Saturday. It's at 2 pm. He claims he's changed."
Harumi looked at her
"You can't be serious, UV."
"I'm dead serious."
"Didnt he give you a black eye when you told him you were trans?"
"Yes...but he said if I have a girlfriend, I should bring her. Said he wants to meet her." Ultraviolet said
"What if he's lying?"
"What if he's not?"
Harumi sighed
"Ultraviolet, this seems like a bad idea. If you go, you will have to see your parents again. And I won't be there to protect you from them this time unless..." Harumi's voice trailed off
"Unless what?"
"Unless I go with you. I could go with you, so that way they can't hurt you again."
Ultraviolet smiled
"We would have to go the night before. Midvale is another city, 175 miles from here. That's where my parents live. Also, Katherine would have to pack if she can go."
"So we're going?" Harumi asked
"I guess. I'll text Haru and Katherine, and you figure out what to do with Crystal."
Harumi hadn't thought about that. Crystal was 5 months old, she couldn't be on her own. She couldn't leave her with Lloyd, that would not be fair. She was a mother, and with that comes responsibility.
Then Harumi thought of an idea
Skylor had asked Harumi in the past if she could take care of Crystal for a few days while Harumi was gone, so she could see what being a mother was about. Skylor and Kai wanted a baby, but they wanted to know what it felt like before they had one.

Harumi texted Skylor what was going on
"Hi, Skylor!"
Skylor replied so fast Harumi thought she was the flash
"Hi, Harumi! What's up?"
"It's about Crystal."
"What about her?" Skylor texted Harumi
"Well..." Harumi texted the entire situation to Skylor
"So what does this have to do with me?"
"How would you feel about becoming a mother for a few days?"
Skylor was over the moon with joy
"I would love to! Kai's gonna be so happy..."
"Great! I can text you the details."

Harumi met Ultraviolet a few hours later outside on a bench
"What did Katherine and Haru say?"
"Haru said he would be more than happy to meet Katherine, and Katherine's coming over in an hour."
Harumi smiled
"I'm glad she's in your life, UV."
"I'm lucky I have a friend like you."
"True friends walk in when the rest of the world walks out." Harumi said
"True."
Both girls were silent for a few minutes
"So what happens at the funeral? Haru said my mom and dad know I'm coming, but I'm scared, Harumi. What if they hurt me or use my deadname or former pronouns?"
Harumi looked at her
"If they do, call me up. I can slap logic into them. Feel free to love whoever you want to love, and be whoever you want to be."
"Ok."
"May I ask, what is your deadname? I'm just wondering." Harumi asked Ultraviolet
"My deadname is Sam."
"That's a pretty name. But Ultraviolet fits you better." Harumi smiled
"Thanks."

An hour later, Katherine had arrived. They were set on leaving early the next morning to be on time for the funeral the following day
Katherine would be staying at their house. That way, she could meet everyone and catch up with her girlfriend, Ultraviolet.
"Katherine!" Ultraviolet yelled
"Ultraviolet! It's so good to see you!" Katherine said after the 2 embraced
"How have you been?" Ultraviolet asked her
"Good. What about you?"
"Same here. Let's catch up inside. There is a lot to discuss."
"Ok."
Ultraviolet kissed her and Katherine accepted, until she saw Harumi standing there
Katherine pulled away
"Katherine, she's my friend, Harumi. Don't worry, she 100% supports LGBTQ+ and trans rights. In other words, she supports us. I can't wait until she Emperess when she's 18. She can help a lot."
"Ok sweetie." Katherine said before kissing Ultraviolet again
They went inside and Harumi followed

"So, what's the plan?" Katherine asked after Harumi made cookies for them to enjoy.
Harumi sat them down then spoke
"We go up the day before, which is tomorrow night. We rent a hotel room in Midvalle for 3 days, which is about 3 miles away from the church. We then go to the funeral, spend the night in Midvalle, then leave the following morning."
Katherine nodded
"So, I heard you have a kid." Katherine said after Ultraviolet left to go get changed into PJ's
"Yes, I do. Ask any questions you want. And before you ask, I'm 15."
Katherine was shocked at how young she is
"So why did you have sex?"
Harumi put down her milk before answering
"Well...you know how teenagers are with sex. They often do it without thinking it through. So that's what happened. Lloyd and I didn't think through what could happen. We just did. And when my identity as the former quiet one and the leader of the Sons of Garmadon was revealed, that made the situation a lot worse."
"I see. What is it like raising a baby at your age?" Katherine said
"It's hard. Luckily, the baby father is a kind man, so he stayed with me, even when I was the enemy. But even after that, things happen, you know? I face discrimination everyday from people, telling me I shouldn't be raising a baby this young, saying I should have aborted it. There was even an instance where a good friend of mine gave me a death threat because I would not abort my baby."
"But isn't Ninjago city pro-choice? I mean, I live in a town called Norfolk, which is about 30 minutes away from here, and they are pro-life. But I always read Ninjago city is a pro-choice place."
"Yes, it is. However, that does not mean there are some narrow-minded people that live here." Harumi sighed
"Like Ultraviolets parents?"
Harumi looked at her
"Technically they live in Midvalle, but yes, that's what I'm talking about."
"Not very pro-life of them, kicking their 10-year-old daughter out of the house because of who she is." Katherine remarked
Harumi laughed
"I guess you could put it like that. They had signs up all around their house that said no gays allowed. They had crosses in the windows that said abortion was murder. Heck, they even ordered an LGBTQ+ rainbow pride flag once and burned it. Right there in their grass."
"Oh wow."
"I know. Ultraviolet's face at that moment was something I will never forget. A mix of pain and anger." Harumi said sadly
Suddenly, Ultraviolet herself came downstairs with Nya, Skylor, Jay, Cole, Zane, Lloyd, who was holding Crystal, and Kai.
"Katherine, these are my friends. My friends, this is my girlfriend, Katherine."
"Hi Katherine!" Jay said enthusiastically
"Were so glad you're here!" Cold said happily
"I can show you to your room." Zane said
"Katherine, this is Crystal, Harumi and I's daughter."
Katherine held her in her arms and Lloyd walked over to Harumi and held her close
"Awwww she's so cute." Katherine said as she held her
Everyone was chattering with Katherine and Ultraviolet
Everyone that is, except Kai
Kai stood in the corner, observing the scene, and frowning
"Katherine, I love you." Ultraviolet said
"I love you too."
They kissed in front of everyone and everyone was happy for them
What they didn't notice was that Kai was going back upstairs, like something had offended him

Nya had no idea where Kai was. One minute he was there, the next he was gone
Nya decided to go look for him
She started up the stairs and found Kai and Skylors room on the right
She gently knocked on the door
"Yes?" She heard a voice from inside
"Kai, it's Nya. Can I come in?"
"Sure."
Nya opened the door to find Kai on his phone, looking at TikTok
"Kai, why are you in here? Why aren't you out there with the rest of the group?" Nya asked him
"Im tired, and I want to sleep."
Nya walked over to him after closing the door
"Kai, what's the real reason?"
Kai looked up from his phone and looked at his sister
"If I tell you, you will hate me."
"Then I can hate you."
Kai looked at her
"I don't support LGBTQ+. I don't even respect them. They are pedophiles who deserve to burn in hell."
Nya was so shocked she almost fell off the bed
"Kai! How could you say such a thing?"
Kai stood up
"It's true! The bible says it's wrong!"
"The bible promotes more murder than the holocaust." Nya said
Now Nya was standing up as well
"It's just the immoral lifestyle in against, that's all. Don't take it so personally, sis. I would never say that to someone whos a member of the community."
Nya laughed
"So you wouldn't say that to someone's face? But yet you can say it to me?" Nya raised her voice
"Yes."
"Your sick, Kai." Nya said angrily
"Nya, don't take it personally! Your straight, so I don't have to worry about it."
Nya thought of something else
"So how do you feel about the transgender community?"
Kai thought
"They are people who are confused. I think it needs to be dealt with as more of a mental illness than anything else. There should be a mental hospital for them. Maybe conversion therapy..."
That did it. Nya raised her hand and smacked him across the face
"What was that for!?" Kai yelled
"Don't ever say those things again, do you hear me?" Nya yelled louder
"Well, it's not like I would say that to a transgender person. Im careful not to."
Nya scoffed
"Well congrats wiseass, you just did."
Kai stopped yelling and started at Nya
"Nya, what do you mean?"
Nya sighed
"It's about time I told the truth. I am a transgender woman. I'm also bisexual for your information."
"Nya, you're going to hell." Kai said loudly so everyone could hear. Little did he know everyone heard it and was rushing upstairs.
"No, I'm going to heaven, your going to hell." Nya said darkly
Before Kai could realize it, he smacked Nya across the face so hard she fell to the floor. He then kicked her in the side and stomach.
"Go to hell, you traitor!"
Just then, Lloyd and Ultraviolet burst down the door and saw Nya, with a fuming Kai standing over her
Lloyd knew he had to act fast
"Get the hell away from her!" Lloyd yelled before attacking Kai
Lloyd knocked Kai down while Ultraviolet helped Nya up. Nya then ran from the room.
The others were shocked

Nya was basically ok. She had a massive bruise on her right cheek and that was all.
Nya was sitting in the living room watching TV when Harumi came up to her
"Hi, Nya. Katherine, Ultraviolet, and I decided to get you away from your brother for a few days. That's why you're coming up to Midvalle with us this weekend."
Nya turned off the TV and looked at Harumi
"I don't need to get away from my brother."
"Yes, you do." Nya heard a voice say
Nya saw Ultraviolet and Katherine standing there
"Nya, he hurt you badly. All because you are transgender and bisexual. You need to be separated from him, at least for the weekend." Ultraviolet said
Nya tried to retaliate, but Katherine cut her off
"Nya, go pack your things. We leave tomorrow night."
"What's gonna happen to Kai?" Nya asked
"Lloyd is talking to him right now, and Skylor decided she was going to be with Crystal alone, or at least until Kai calms down. Bottom line is, you won't see him until you come back." Harumi said
"Fine. What's the harm anyway?"

"Nya, ready to go?" Harumi yelled through the house on Friday night. Ultraviolet and Katherine were loading their stuff into the car, and Harumi was making sure they had everything
"Almost!" Nya yelled as she threw her book and phone into her bag
"You have 5 minutes!" Harumi yelled
5 minutes later, Nya came down and loaded her stuff into the car.
"Ready?" Harumi asked her
Harumi was sitting in the backseat of her car, with Nya. Katherine was sitting next to Ultraviolet, who was driving.
"Yes."

The girls all checked into their hotel rooms at Midvalle Central Hotel 2 hours later. Harumi and Nya shared a room, and Ultraviolet and Katherine shared one.
There was a door that leads them to each other's rooms.
"If you need anything, I'm here." Harumi said to all the girls before they said goodnight
"Ok. Goodnight." Katherine said as she and Ultraviolet went into their room
Nya got changed and got into bed with Harumi
"Harumi, thanks for taking me up here. I did need to get away from Kai."
Harumi smiled
"Your welcome. Did Ultraviolet tell you she's trans?"
"Yes, after Kai hit me. She also told me about her parents. Sad humans, by the way."
"Yeah. She said she didn't want to go, but I urged her to, and well, here she is."
"I wonder what going to happen tomorrow, when she has to see her parents. She hasn't seen them in 7 years."
"Or even contacted them."
Both girls were quiet for a few minutes
"I hope nothing happens tomorrow at the funeral. Maybe she won't talk to them." Nya suggested
"Let's pray."

"We gather here today to honor the memory of Amara Hill. She was a bright young woman, always standing up for people. Though her life was tragically cut short at the young age of 14, she will be remembered forever. So let's observe a moment of silence for her, and remember her memory." The pastor said
The entire church was quiet. Ultraviolet sat next to Harumi, who sat next to Katherine, who sat next to Nya. Ultraviolet parents, however, were nowhere to be found. Neither was Haru
"Maybe they skipped?" Harumi suggested to Ultraviolet quietly
"No, they are crazy conservative. They would never miss a church service, let alone a funeral for a family member." Ultraviolet said
"If that's the case, where are they?" Nya asked
"I don't know." Ultraviolet said to Nya
Suddenly, Ultraviolet saw them. Her mom, dad, and brother, Haru, all sitting in the front
Of course, they get VIP seating, they organized this service for god's sake! Ultraviolet thought to herself
She nudged her friends and girlfriend, and pointed to the front of the church
"There they are."
Sure enough, there they were.
"Does anyone want to say anything in honor of this young woman?" The pastor asked after the moment of silence
No one raised a hand, except Utraviolets mom, who walked up to the front of the church
"Mrs. Henderson, would you like to say something?" The pastor asked
"If it's allowed, yes."
"Then you have the floor."
Ultraviolet's mom, Amy Henderson, spoke
"When I first saw Amara, it was like a light at the end of the tunnel. You see...I tragically lost my oldest son, Sam, in a car accident. May he rest in peace."
"She, mom. Get it right. And I'm not dead." Ultraviolet murmured
"I saw Amara for the first time when she was 4 and let me tell you, she was a light in my dark room. Everyday, I miss Sam so much, and I wish he was here today."
"Maybe they assumed you died off?" Nya said
"Probably."
"I am deeply saddened by Amara's death. She was a beacon of hope. A light switch."
"Lady, I call bull on that." Harumi said darkly, quietly
"Shhhh." Ultraviolet said
"I will always remember Amara. I will never forget her. So let this be a day of hope, not a day of grief. Rest in peace, Amara. You will be missed."
Everyone clapped, except for the 4 girls. They just stared
"Thank you, Mrs. Henderson. Does anyone else want to say anything?" The pastor asked the church
No one said anything
"Then let us go outside for refreshments, after the burial."
The pastor made a hand gesture to 4 men in the back, who brought forward a coffin with Amara's body inside
"Amara, may you rest in peace. Your hurt soul is healed. Your depressive state is gone. Your free now. Maybe you be with the angels."
The men stood to the sides while 2 women closed the lid
They covered the coffin up with a blanket and carried it outside

Ultraviolet saw her brother standing with her parents, chatting away with some family friends
Harumi approached Ultraviolet
"Do you want to confront her?" Harumi asked
"Not yet. Are we not going to talk about how Nya wore your quiet one suit to the funeral?"
Harumi laughed
"Ok, that was the only black suit I had."
They both laughed
Suddenly, Haru approached them
"Sam- I mean, Ultraviolet. It's me, Haru."
Ultraviolet turned around
"Oh, hi Haru. Im sorry about Amara." Ultraviolet said
"It's ok."
Both siblings were quiet for about 3 minutes
"When we last each other, it didn't end on the best terms." Haru said
"Yeah, it didn't." Ultraviolet agreed
"I would like to formally apologize for how I treated you. Your human, just like I am. I should not have looked down on you for who you are, or who you love." Haru looked at the floor
"Haru, it's ok. I brought my girlfriend, if you want to meet her."
"I would love to."
Ultraviolet left to get Katherine
"Haru, who is that?"
Haru turned around to see his dad standing over him
"That's my sister, dad. She's not dead."
"He is dead to me. And that's your brother, Haru. Call him Sam, not Ultraviolet."
Haru had had enough
"You know what dad? I can call her whatever I want to! That is my sister, and I'm proud to call her that! That is Ultraviolet, not Sam!"
By now, the entire congregation was watching
"You will call him your brother, or else."
"Or else what?"
Ultraviolet came back with Katherine, ignoring her dad. She had a plan anyway.
"Haru, this is my girlfriend, Katherine."
"Nice to meet you, Katherine. I'm Haru, Ultraviolet's brother."
"Hi, Haru. Im Katherine, Ultraviolet's girlfriend."
"Your WHAT?" Ultraviolets dad yelled
"My girlfriend, dad. You should have no problem with it, considering I'm a boy in your eyes."
The entire yard laughed
"You will not date a girl." Ultraviolets mom chimed in
"Oh really? Watch me."
Ultraviolet pulled Katherine in and kissed her. And not a peck one either, a full 4-second one.
Ultraviolet's parents backed up, like their daughter was some sort of threat or something
"You two really have to reassess what you stand for. I get it. I know what it says in the bible. I don't believe in it. Your homophobia isn't my problem. Goodbye, mom and dad."
"Don't turn your back on me!" Ultraviolet's dad yelled as Ultraviolet walked back to her car
Ultraviolet just kept walking
Harumi turned to Ultraviolet's parents and looked at them
"You know, maybe she's right. I'm not telling you how to raise your kid, but think about it. She was 10, so why would you do that?" Harumi said
Ultraviolet's parents were silent
"That wasn't very pro-life of you either. Would that really be what God would want you to do? After all, he does say love your neighbors as well."
Ultraviolet's mom looked at the small girl
"But she loves girls. And shes trans. That is a sin, and we don't support sins." Amy said
"So what? If it were a sin, why would God create people gay or trans? My father, who's now dead, had a PHD in the church and ministry and supported gay marriage. And a few more things about the bible before I go. It promotes more murder than the holocaust."
Both parents looked at Harumi
"So what happened to her? After she left?" The dad asked
"She came to the base in tears, saying that you guys died in a car crash. She stayed full-time. I found out a year later what happened. All she ever wanted was for you to love her. To accept her." Harumi said sadly
"We do love her. She's still our kid."
"Then prove it. Tell her your sorry."
Harumi lead Ultraviolets parents to the car, and knocked on the window
Ultraviolet looked up and saw Harumi standing there, with her parents
What did she do?
"Ultraviolet, your mom and dad are here. They want to talk to you."
Oh hell no
Ultraviolet rolled down her window
"Make it quick."
Ultraviolets mom walked forward
"Ultraviolet, we're so sorry for kicking you out. It was a really stupid thing to do, and we're really sorry. I know you can probably never forgive us, and that's fine. But I want you to know I love you and support you. I should have a long time ago. I know its hard to believe, but your friend is a miracle worker when she wants to be."
Ultraviolet looked at them
"She really is. Thank you for the apology, I really appreciate it."
Katherine got into the car next to Ultraviolet and started it. Katherine had her license too. Nya got in after her and Harumi followed.
"It was great seeing you mom. You too dad. And especially Haru. I hope to see you soon." Ultraviolet waved off
"I hope to see you too, daughter."
That response made Ultraviolet tear up from happiness

Ultraviolet never really knew her half-cousin, Amara. She only met her once, and that was at a baby shower for Amaras mom. Yet she somehow had overwealing grief over Amaras death.
Ultraviolet picked up her phone and texted Haru

I went home from school. My last day. It was only January, but it was my last day. After today, I would be gone.
I had a plan. My mom had a date night with dad tonight, and since I was an only child, I was going to be home alone.
My dad owned a weapons store about 1/2 miles from our house. He had guns, knives, daggers, you name it
The plan was simple. I sneak in, grab a dagger from off the shelf, take it back home, fill a bathtub with water, and slit my wrists
It was 7:30 pm. My dad called me
"Amara, i'll be back in less than 4 hours. Call me if you need anything!"
4 hours was all I needed. The only way I could survive was if someone found me right after I did it. But I planned accordingly
"Will do, dad. I love you."
"I love you too."
With that, he was gone.
He probably thought he would see me again. However, that was my final time talking to him. My final goodbye.
At least he saw me one last time
I sprung into action. I walked the 1/2 mile to my dads shop, which was surprisingly easy to break into. I smashed a window.
I saw the daggars on a shelf that was high, so I stood on a nearby step stool to reach it
I grabbed one and held it with my hands
There is no going back now
I left the shop and headed home. It was dark, but I knew the way
When I got home, I found a piece of paper sitting on my desk. I picked it up. The least I could do was write a suicide note
Once I finished writing it, I folded it up and put it on my bed
I'm sorry mom and dad. I tried
I walked over to my bathtub and filled it with water. It took about 15 minutes to full completely, but eventuay it did.
I pulled my hair up into a ponytail and got into the tub
As I got in, I thought of everyone who was going to find me like this. Everyone I was going to hurt. To bad so sad.
I felt the water around me as I relaxed.
I picked up the dagger that was sitting right next to me and held out my wrist
No going back now, Amara.
I pressed it against my skin, first feeling the smoothness of the blade, then pressed it into my skin
I cried out in pain, but continued to slit it vertically, stopping halfway up my arm
I stopped and breathed air for the final time
I picked up the dagger again and drew it across my other arm, going all the way this time
I let go of it and it fell to the floor of the bathtub. I breathed deep breaths
In and out. In and out. After about 5 minutes, my vision got blurry. After about 10 minutes, I could not breathe normally anymore. After 15 minutes, my breath got slow and I gulped one final breath of air before I gave up. I looked at the world one last time. I then gave up.

Her parents found her about 3 hours later, but by then it was already to late. I'm so sorry Ultraviolet.
Ultraviolet didn't know what to say. She put her phone down and closed her eyes. She went to sleep, wondering what would happen if she lost another loved one to suicide.
Harumi. She couldn't bear to think what her life would be like without Harumi in it. She would never be complete again.
