Chapter 1: We are a happy family

Have you ever thought about how you would feel if your whole life was surrounded by secrets and lies. That your destiny was being controlled by someone else, those you considered your friends and family are nothing but a sham, and you don't know who to trust. That happened specifically to the Potter family, to be even more specific to the youngest of the family.

Our story begins when the Potter family made their annual trip to Diagon Alley to get school supplies for a new school year at Hogwarts. But this year was special as the Potter twins, Alexander Amel Potter and Avery Alexandria Potter, would be starting their first year at Hogwarts. Both twins were physically almost identical, straight black hair, Alex had short hair and Avery had long hair, both were of short stature, but Avery was a little taller than Alex, they were slim and pale skinned, and had freckles on their faces. If it weren't for their green eyes, one would have no similarity to their older brother Harry James Potter and their mother Lily Potter, but the two of them had no physical kinship to their father James Potter. Although no one seemed to care or doubted that they were his children. At least for now.

The family was walking in the direction of Ollivanders wand store, to get the twins' wands.

-"Are you excited about getting your wand, sweetie?"- Lily asks Alex sweetly.

-"Yes, Mom, very excited!"- Alex told her, smiling slightly as he waved his hands nervously.

-"Me too, mom, I can't wait to get my wand!"- Avery said excitedly.

The twins took off running, so they could get to the store much faster.

-"Hey, you two don't go so fast"- Harry said, running after them.

James rolled his eyes as he followed his kids.

Avery stood in front of the store and stood smiling for a while, but then she remembered how long she would be at Hogwarts -"7 years"- She muttered to herself, thinking about how little she's going to see her mother and father. Her eyes showed a strange glint

-"I already want to get my wand"- Alex says softly as he took his sister's hand. - "I want my wand to be good at casting spells"- He said with a bit of excitement in his voice.

James smiles at Alex -"Then, let's go inside"- He looks at his daughter as he heard her murmur. -"Yes, it's going to be seven years in a big castle, but you'll see it'll fly by"-

-"Sorry dad, I'm just going to miss you and mom"- Avery said looking down at the ground kicking pebbles around not wanting to look her parents in the eyes.

-"We're going to miss you too, but let's not think about that for now, let's go inside and get the wands"- Lily said looking at Avery. She led Alex inside the store.

-"You'll see, you'll have so much fun that the time will go by so fast, you'll see us on Christmas break too"- James smiled at her and led her inside the store.

-"Okie..."- Avery said, following him inside the store.

Harry ran inside next to Lily and looked around in childish amazement -"Woah"- He said, he hadn't been there since his first year.

Alex looks around -"This is amazing"- He walked up to the counter.

James shook his head and spoke to Ollivander.

-"Isn't this cool? Avery, we're going to have our own wands"- Alex said as he took her hand gently.

-"Yes, it is!"- Avery said with her spirits lifted, but with that also comes nervousness and her hands shake from both excitement and nervousness.

Ollivander began measuring the twins and having them try out various wands. Alex's wand ended up being a Vine wood wand with a dragon heartstring core, 12 ¾ inches long and quite flexible. Perfect for casting more powerful and extravagant spells, and great for practicing the dark arts. After the test, Avery's wand ended up as a hawthorn wood wand with a Phoenix feather core, it was 11 ½ inches long and slightly flexible. Perfect for making potions and great for practicing the dark arts.

-"It's so pretty!"- Avery said, smiling at the wand.

-"Avery, look at my wand, isn't it cool? I'll be able to cast really powerful spells"- Alex says excitedly.

-"Yeah kids, it's cool "- James said as he paid, Alex's wand reminded him a lot of someone's wand, but he couldn't remember who.

Lily looked nervously at Alex's wand, as it had a lot of similarities to Severus', but sighed in relief when she saw Avery's wand that looked more like hers. She nods. -"Yes, it's very pretty, Avery"-

Avery gasped slightly -"My wand looks just like mom's!"- She said very proudly.

Alex pouted as he looked at his wand. -"Why doesn't mine look like any of yours? Harry's wand looks like dad's and Avery's looks like mom's"- He looked at his parents with sad eyes.

-"Don't worry, that means your wand is unique. Now let's go get your uniforms"- Lily said, trying to draw the twins' attention away from the wands. She took the twins' hand and walked out of the store.

James and Harry look at each other a bit confused, but walked out of the store, following Lily and the twins.

As Avery was trying on the uniforms, she remembered that Harry had told her that Snape was their potions professor and smiles -"We're going to meet Professor Snape!"- She said excitedly.

Harry looked at Avery with a weird look on his face -"Why are you so excited to meet him, he's mean!"

-"Because I like potions first off, second off he sounds cool from what you've told me!"- Avery said she confidently.

-"How does he sound cool, he's a cranky old man!"- Harry exclaimed.

Avery sighed -"He's just does okay! I don't wanna to argue with you"- She said, annoyed.

James rolled his eyes -"Yes, you'll meet Snape, he'll be your potions professor, and he's very strict, and Harry's right, he's too cranky"- James didn't like Severus at all, so he used to ignore what Harry said about him even used to encourage him to call him names.

-"Harry, even if you don't like him, you should show him respect, he's a professor"- Lily scolded him, but she said it without much importance.

Alex didn't really care much; he liked potions but preferred spells. He kept thinking about what spells he could cast while trying on the uniforms, he decided not to pay attention to the conversation going on around him; he preferred to stay out of fights or arguments. Once they were out of the store, he looked at Lily -"Mom, can we stop by the bookstore? I want to look at spell books"- He smiles, now that he had a wand he could cast spells and wanted to learn as much as he could.

-"Oh! Speaking of books, we have to go get your textbooks now!"- Lily said as she grabbed Alex's hand -"Come on everyone!"- She said as she started walking towards the bookstore.

Alex smiles broadly as he walks into the bookstore, he lets go of his mother's hand. -"I'm going to the spells section"- He smiles and runs towards the shelves.

-"Alex, don't run, you're going to hit someone!"- James sighs. -"This kid"- He mumbles wearily but smiles.

Avery, as soon as she walks into the store, goes straight to the potions section and picks out at least 3 potions books -"So many books! I want them all!"- She said happily.

Alex is running with two big books in his hands, one of curses and hexes, and others of advanced spells, when he bumps into someone dropping a book. He looks up and sees Professor Snape, though he didn't know him. -"Sorry"- He says sheepishly as he hides his face behind the book.

Avery hears the thud noise, she goes to see what's going on and sees Alex with a man -"Alex, are you okay? I hear a noise"- She looks at Snape -"What is your name sir?"- She asks, feeling a little brave.

-"I'm fine"- Alex picked up the book from the floor and hid behind Avery. He wasn't too fond of strangers, and he looked scary, even though he didn't look like he could do anything bad to them. -"He looks a lot like us, Avery"- He whispered in his twin's ear.

Severus looked at the books the kids were carrying. -"I'm Severus Snape and aren't those books too advanced for you two?"- He stared at the kids, who looked strangely familiar, with those green eyes and straight black hair, with pale skin.

Avery gasped excitedly -"I'm Avery Potter and this is my twin Alexander Potter, it's nice to meet you Professor Snape! Oh, and we picked out these books ourselves! We have to be prepared for our favorite classes!"- She said, smiling.

Severus looks at them with a neutral look. -" mmm, so other Potters are coming to Hogwarts, and twins"- He didn't like James and Harry's attitude because he thought they were arrogant, but those twins seemed odd to him for being a Potter. The brave little girl reminded him a lot of Lily, and the shy little boy behind her looked nothing like their brother and father. He reminded him of someone else; he shook his head slightly, trying not to think about it. -"Yes, I see, you look very excited, and it was a pleasure meeting you"- He nods, but says indifference.

-"Oh, I'm excited to talk to you! My brother Harry has told me a lot about you and I think you're cool!"- Avery said, smiling.

Lily walks up to them to see who they were talking to and gets extremely anxious when she sees that they are talking to Snape -"What are you two doing?"- She asked nervously.

-"I'm talking to Professor Snape, mom!"- Avery says with a laugh that sounds just like her mom's.

Severus raises an eyebrow. -"Yes, I suppose your brother has told you a lot of things"- He found everything she said strange.

Avery was nodding -"Yes he has!"- She said happily.

-"He doesn't look like a vampire though"- Alex whispers, Harry used to tell them a lot of crazy things about Snape.

Severus turns to see Lily. -"Hello, Lily, long time no see"- He says neutrally.

Alex leaves his sister behind and approaches his mother. -"Mom, look, look, look"- He shows her the books. -"I have a book on curses and hexes"-

-"Yeah, it has been quite a while "- Lily says as she looks at Alex's book -"Only use whatever you learn in the book for self-defense, those could kill someone if you use them so be careful, okay?"- She advises Alex.

Alex nods -"Yes, mom, I will"- He hugs the books tightly.

Avery feels a strong connection with Snape, but she doesn't know why. She looks at the shapes of the wand and gasps -"Hey that looks like my brother's wand!"- She says smiling.

Severus raises an eyebrow and looks at his wand. -"I've seen Mr. Potter's wand, and it doesn't look like mine at all "- He said, thinking she meant Harry's wand.

Alex takes his wand and looks at it, seeing that his sister was right. -"Mom, my wand looks a lot like Professor Snape, why?"-

Severus looked at the wand in Alex's hand and widened his eyes at the similarity, then looked the boy up and down and then looked Avery up and down as well. -"I think I'd better go"- He said, having a bad feeling where this conversation was going, plus he felt his head starting to hurt.

-"Noooo! I don't want you to go!"- Avery yelled.

Lily didn't say anything, just looked at the ground, ashamed of herself, but at the same time her eyes had a strange gleam in them.

James walked towards them, hearing so much scandal. -"Avery, don't raise your voice so high, what's wrong?"-

Severus looks at James. -"Potter"- He said dryly.

-"Snape"- James replied with the same dry tome.

Avery looks back and forth at James and Snape and realizes something isn't right here. -"Uh, mom, what was dad's relationship with Mr. Snape?"- She asked.

Lily lifted her head to look at her and tried to smile. -"It's not a bad thing, they just didn't get along very well when they were going to Hogwarts"- She said simply without going into details, she wasn't going to tell her daughter how bad those two got along. -"Ok, Severus it was nice to see you, but we still have shopping to do, come on kids, James"-

-"Well dad, be nice to Snape!"- Avery complained to James.

James looked at his daughter in surprise; his eyes darkened for a second, but then disappeared.

Severus had to use all his strength not to laugh or smile. -"Thank you for your concern Miss Potter, but please is it Professor or Mr. Snape?"-

-"You don't need to call me Miss Potter Mr. Snape!"- Avery said calmly -"Just call me Avery!"- She said, smiling.

Alex looked at everyone in confusion. -"Dad, why does my wand look like Professor Snape's, mom said mine was unique, that's why it didn't look like yours, so is Professor Snape's special or am I related to him in some way?"-

James opened his eyes wide, surprised by his questions, he gritted his teeth and clenched his fists, but took a deep breath -"Don't ask silly questions, son"-

Lily began to panic at his question -"No, you're not related to Snape in any way, he's special too"- She laughed faintly.

Severus simply nodded. -" Well, it was nice meeting you Avery, Alexander, but when we are at Hogwarts it will be Miss Potter, it's the rules and I hope to see you in my class, but now, I have to go"- He says before looking at Lily -"It was nice to see you again"- He says and walks out of the store.

-"Okay!"- Avery said happy to have met Snape.

Alex looked at his mother, something in her tone told him she was lying, but he decided not to say anything. But he didn't keep asking, his father looked annoyed, and he didn't want her to get more upset.

James glared at Severus as he watched him go. -"Ok, let's pay for the books and get on with the shopping"-

Lily sighed -"Yes, we should"- She walks up to the cashier, paid and then the family leaves the bookstore and continues their shopping without any trouble.

Once they finished their shopping, they went back home. Like the happy family, they were.

As they are known by all the magical society, the Potter family is a happy and loving family, with happy and loved children. Or at least everything is like that until the door closes at the Potter house.

James closed the door to the house before looking at the twins angrily, he grabbed Alex's arm tightly.

Alex winced, -"Dad, that hurts"- He said in a shaky voice.

-"What the fuck is wrong with you, you dumb useless brat, how can you ask these kinds of questions, that you are related to Snape, how can someone who carries MY blood be so stupid!"- James shouted angrily at him before throwing him hard against the floor.

Alex crumpled into a ball on the floor as he cried -"I'm sorry, dad!"-

Avery stood in front of Alex -"Why are you getting so mad, it was just an innocent question"- She said, trying not to shake her voice.

James got angrier -"Ha and you don't save yourself, who do you think you are to tell me to be nice to Snape. You guys should just smile and act like spoiled kids, is that so hard to understand?!"- He raised his hand with the intention of hitting Avery.

-"James! I already told you I don't want you to hit Avery, she's a girl, she must be pretty and perfect, I don't want her to have bruises"- Lily sighed -"Both of you leave your stuff in your rooms, Alex stay there until dinner time and don't get in the way, Avery I want you in the kitchen in an hour, you have to make dinner"- She said before going to the kitchen.

Avery shivered, but nodded, helped her brother up, and they went upstairs to put things in their rooms.

Harry approached his father cautiously -"Come on dad, it's all Snape's fault, he ruined our day, let's go train, it'll lift your spirits"- He said trying to smile.

James nodded and practically dragged Harry to the backyard, to train with Harry, after all he was the chosen one, the one who would save the magical world, therefore, as his father he should train him well.

And so begins the story of our twins and the hell they and Harry go through, will they ever find out Lily's secret, and what will happen to the family if they do? Follow the story to find out. Stay tuned for warnings, please.

And I'll continue with my other story, I've just had a block of ideas recently, but I'll continue, I promise.
