Hi guys. This is the final chapter of last chapters time. This is around February of 2020. I had an idea I just had to include. It's going to make the story more interesting. If you have any plot ideas, message me and I might do it. Also, if you would like for me to write you a story, give me the plot, summary for each chapter, and guidelines you want incorporated (no sex, cursing, or slurs, etc.)
Also, this chapter will be a little rushed. I'm trying to wrap this story up by December, so I have to go faster. This chapter will be around 3,000 words (normal- 7,500+)
Trigger warnings: depression, talks about rape and sexual assault
X
Nya was in a depressive episode. She hadn't showered in 9 days, hadn't done her hair or changed in 2 weeks, and couldn't get out of bed. She had been seeing her therapist, Dr. Benshaw, for about 2 months. After Christmas, she went to the doctors office and was diagnosed with severe PTSD, depression, and anxiety, along with body dysmorphia. She would eat, sleep, and drink in her room. Even with everyone coming in time after time offering to help her, she still couldn't bring herself to leave that depression bed.
Nya wasn't going to lie. Her friends weren't bad friends. They were the best friends she could ever ask for. And her boyfriend was the best boyfriend she could ever ask for as well. For the past 2 weeks, they had been offering to go out with Nya to do something. Anything.
Jay had offered to take her to Mega-Monster amusement park, the location of their first date.
Harumi had offered to tour her around the now completed palace, where she would be staying by this time next year.
Cole had asked if she wanted to go on a walk around the city, which for obvious reasons had a sentimental meaning in Nyas heart.
Lloyd had asked if she wanted to go to the monastery, where she met Jay.
Ultraviolet and Killow had offered to take her to the SOG base and show her around there, as Nya now worked there as well.
Kai had asked if she wanted to go to their parents house the weekend he was going to visit them.
Zane and P.I.X.A.L offered to take Nya down the Samurai X cave and let her fly around the suit, which again, had a special place in Nyas heart for obvious reasons.
Skylor had offered to take her to the restaurant she and her dad owned and give Nya free food all day.
Everyone had offered to do something with her. Even Garmadon had asked if she wanted to go on a hike with him.
And Nya declined all of it, making up a variety of excuses along the way.
"I'm not hungry."
"I'm really tired."
"I don't feel good."
"I'm not in the mood."
And her personal favorite she now uses all the time
"I have had 3 panic attacks today. And that was with no triggers. I don't want to have one in public."
Nya was in her 17th day of a depressive state when Jay walked into her room
Nya pretended to be asleep so he wouldn't talk to her.
"Nya, are you ok?"
Nya realized she was busted
"What? Oh yeah, I'm fine Jay! I'm fast asleep!"
Ok, maybe she could have thought of something different
"Nya, I don't think your asleep." Jay tried to talk without laughing out loud
Nya sat up and realized Jay was holding a plate of food. She looked at her phone and realized it was lunchtime
"Anyway, I brought you lunch. Where should I put it?" Jay asked
"Just on my bed is fine."
Jay nodded and put the food down next to Nya. He then sat down next to her
"You know, you have to leave this room sooner or later. You can't be in here forever."
Nya sighed
"I know. Just not now."
"Soon."
"I guess."
Jay and Nya were quiet for about 5 minutes
"Nya, I don't want to push you, but I have something to ask you." Jay asked Nya calmly
Nya decided not to jump to conclusions yet
"Sure. Fire away."
"NGTV news contacted me this morning and asked if you would be interested in doing an interview about what happened to you tomorrow afternoon. They sent me possible questions they may ask if you decide to do it and so you have time to prepare if you want to do it."
Nya thought for a second
"And where would this be broadcasted to?"
"The entire city, this whole realm, as well as other realms that can pick up signal from here. Every house within range of our service will see it, as well as every prison." Jay informed Nya
Nya thought again
"You said every prison will see it, right?"
"Yes. Even Kryptarium."
"So Mike will see it."
Jay sighed
"Yes. There is a chance Mike may see it. But I want you to understand that he can't hurt you anymore. He's behind bars."
"If he is found not guilty during the trial next month and my request for a restraining and no contact order is denied, then yes. He 100% can hurt me." Nya replied irritated
"He won't go free."
"How do you know?"
"I just know."
"You know how the justice system is."
"It won't fail you."
"There's a 99% chance it will."
"What about that 1%?"
Nya went quiet
"What proof do we even have that he raped me, other than the word of a 16 year old girl? Nobody will believe me. Most people haven't anyway. It's hopeless Jay."
Nya started to sob
"Nya, remember when we contacted the hospital after you came forward and they gave us the rape kit they did, the clothes you were wearing, the photos they took, the abortion papers that proved you were carrying Mike's baby and got rid of it, the blood tests, the DNA swabs, and the full report you typed. Not to mention there is a video of it happening that security cameras took. That should be proof enough."
"And what if its not?"
"Then we cross that bridge when we come to it. Nya, I don't know what it's like to be assaulted and violated, and I hope I never will have to know what it's like. So I'm not even going to try and pretend like I know what your going through right now. But I am going to say that thinking positive right now might help. I'm just saying."
Nya wanted to protest, but she knew Jay was right
"Anyway, back to the interview. If your interested, tell me by tonight and I'll contact NGTV news. But if you don't want to, that's fine as well. Just please, for me, leave this bed soon. As Harumi once said, this place is depressing."
With that, Jay left the room, leaving Nya there by herself.
Nya thought about what Jay said and decided she would do the interview. She has nothing to lose at this point.
Once she ate lunch, she quickly took a shower and put on jeans and a plain grey t-shirt. She then put her hair into a bun and made the bed. She picked up the room and cleaned her face. She decided against makeup. She didn't need it. She put her clothes away and checked her phone. Once she did that, she went downstairs
The second Nya stepped into the living room, she was bombarded with people talking to her
"Look who it is!"
"I'm glad your down here."
"Finally!"
"Are you good now?"
Nya ignored all of this and said a quick "hello" to everyone and then approached Jay, who was sitting at the table
"I'll do it."
Jay looked up at Nya and smiled
"I was hoping you would say that."
Jay ratted off an email to NGTV news and a few minutes later, printed out some sheets of paper
Jay gave them to Nya
"These are questions they may ask you during the interview. They also said if you don't want to answer some questions, you don't have to."
"Ok. Thank you Jay."
"Your welcome."
Nya got some lunch and then went to her room to look over the sheets of paper, which had questions like
"What was is like in captivity?"
"How did you get captured?"
"When and where did this happen?"
"How old were you?"
"Did they kidnap you or did you follow them?"
"How did you feel after?"
There were many more, and Nya decided that while this is hard to talk about, she would answer all of the questions they asked because this could help someone else who is struggling to come forward
X
"Nya, its time to go. Do you have everything you need?" Jay called up to Nya
"Just a second."
Nya touched up her hair and makeup and then left the room
"Ready to go?" Jay asked Nya when he saw her
"I guess."
Jay was surprised by her tone
"Are you ok?"
"Yeah, I'm just nervous, that's all. It's not like I haven't been interviewed before, it's just when its an interview like this, it's a little scary, especially with millions of people watching or listening."
"I get it. I was interviewed about Zane when he "died", but that's totally different from this. At least the whole city shared my trauma and nobody was calling me a liar, but in this case, it's something personal that happened to you. Your a strong young woman, Nya. Don't ever forget that."
Jay kissed her passionately before opening the car door
X
About 10 minutes later, Jay and Nya ran into some protesters outside the police station and near the NGTV news building
They were Mike supporters, demanding that he be free and chanting rape chants such as "No means yes. Yes means anal."
Nya tried to ignore them as she had faced this type of thing before
However, the rape chants and the signs with his face on it eventually became very triggering for Nya and started causing her flashbacks. By the time they got to the news building, Nya was on the verge of tears.
Jay recognized Nya was upset and after he parked the car, he turned to her
"Just ignore them. They are brain dead idiots who don't know what it's like. Try and block them out."
Nya signed, then looked at the group of protesters
"I can't just ignore them, but I'll just not pay attention to them. They are stupid."
"Do you want me to walk you in, just in case?" Jay asked
"No, but thank you anyway. I'll be fine."
With that, Nya left the car and started up the sidewalk
Of course, Mike supporters saw her and ran up to her, but didn't get close enough to attack her. They were still chanting rape chants, but Nya didn't care. She just wanted to do the interview, nothing else.
Of course that didn't erase the fear that Nya had that they were going to hate-crime her. She knew they most likely would not, but she was still scared. However, once she got in the building, she felt safer knowing there were people all around her.
Nya walked up to the person at the desk and introduced herself
The lady at the desk greeted her and walked her to the news room where she would be interviewed
Nya recognized Vinny and Gayle while they were setting up cameras and writing stuff on papers. There were also 2 other reporters in the room
Gayle saw Nya and smiled at her
"Hi, Nya. We are so glad your here. We didn't think you would show up."
"I almost didn't, but then I realized that this interview could help someone else, and I want to help."
"Come with me." Gayle told Nya and walked her to a couch in the back of the room, where there were many cameras and a news reporter
"Nya, this is Carrie. She will be interviewing you today." Gayle smiled
Carrie looked young, 19 or 20. She had beautiful aqua eyes and long red hair.
"Carrie is a big fan of yours who happens to be an intern here. That's why we had her interview you today." Gayle explained
Nya smiled. She always liked interacting with her fans.
"Hi Carrie. I'm Nya, but I guess you already knew that. Once were done, I can give you my autograph, if you want."
Carrie started jumping up and down, squealing
"Yes, Yes!"
About 10 seconds later, she cleared her throat and acted professional
"Sorry about that. That wasn't very appropriate."
Nya laughed
"It's ok. Really, it is."
Nya then sat down and Vinny went behind the camera
"We're rolling in 3,2,1!"
Suddenly, every camera in this place was on Nya and Carrie, and being streamed to millions of people
"We're live from the NGTV news building, and today we actually have a special guest." Carrie stated to the camera
Carrie then introduced Nya, and Nya introduced herself to Carrie
"Nya, how are you today?" Carrie asked
"I'm good. I'm a little tired because I woke up at 4 in the morning today, but otherwise I'm good."
"You woke up at 4 today?"
"Sometimes earlier if I feel like it."
There was silence in the news room, and Nya smiled and almost started laughing
"Well, what's the reason? I mean, I don't mean to judge, but is that even healthy?" Carrie spoke again
Nya laughed
"It's not, but I don't care. My therapist was like, dude, we need to fix that problem, and my boyfriend is threatening to contact the doctor and tell them. It's by default anyway, so I can't control it."
"If its by default, then what time do you go to sleep?"
Nya thought
"About 1:30 in the morning."
"So how is it by default?"
"I set an alarm and sleeping is harder lately."
Carrie just stared at Nya
"Ok, we'll get back to your sleep schedule later. As of right now, why is sleeping harder for you?"
"Being a ninja isn't an easy job, so it's sometimes stress. If it's not that, it might be anxiety problems or something like that. However, right now, it's mostly personal things."
"And what do you mean by that?"
"I mean, how explicit can I get on the radio anyway?"
Carrie laughed
"As long as you don't cuss anyone out, or say anything wildly inappropriate, your good."
"Ok then. If I'm allowed to talk about this here, then I guess personal things are mainly my recovery as well as trying to deal with my depression and anxiety problems, like I said before."
"You have confirmed before that you have an anxiety disorder in the past, but can you elaborate on depression?"
"I mean, I have had it since I was 13, but it's gotten worse since, you know, I was taken advantage of. I'm trying to speak out against sexual assault, but it's hard when you have PTSD from it." Nya replied
"And you also confirmed you developed PTSD sometime last year, and have had it for about 6 months."
"Yes."
"So like, is it ok to get more into that, or do you want to talk about something else?" Carrie asked
"We can talk more about this, if that's ok."
"It's totally ok. So, how did this happen? How did it get to this point?"
"Well, it's kinda a long story. The short version is I was fighting 2 SOGs on the street, and one of them knocked me out. I was brought back to the base where I was interrogated for about 2 hours once I awoke, and then Mike came in and well, it kinda went down from there. Long story short, I was shoved down, and he forced himself on me."
Nya was now starting to cry for real
Carrie looked at her
"If this is too much, we can stop now." Carrie said in a calm tone
Nya dried her tears on her hand and looked up
"No, it's ok. You can continue."
"If that's ok, what happened after it happened?"
"Well, I remember seeing a gun on the floor because it fell off his uniform. Once he was done, he got dressed and for some reason, allowed me to do the same. He then picked up his gun and I thought for sure "Ok. He raped me, and now he's going to kill me." But then he just strapped the gun on his side and left without saying anything else. He didn't kill me, obviously. But the whole ordeal was still terrifying. After he left, another female SOG came in and god, I owe her. She told me she saw what happened, and she wanted to get me out of here because apparently, he rapes his victims 2 times, and then kills them. So, she grabbed my hand, and then took me outside, and dropped me off about 1/2 mile from the base."
"First off and foremost, I want to say that I am so sorry that happened to you. You didn't deserve it. Second, because that was a heavy question, what is consent to you?"
"Consent is giving someone permission to do something to you. The first thing I think of when I think of consent is sex, but there seems to be a lot of confusion on what it is. What people don't understand is if you are drunk and can't talk or walk, that is assault. If you are silent or saying maybe, it's not consent. If you are unconscious, it's not consent. Unless you get a strong, clear, yes, I want to have sex, it is assault." Nya said
"And what do you think about clothing, like the whole "what were you wearing." excuse? By the way, cussing is allowed."
"Ok. It's bullshit. When I was in elementary school, we had a person who works with sexual assault survivors come to our school, and she said that 96% of her clients were asked what they were wearing when the assault happened. Later that school year, we enforced a dress code, and it only applied to the girls. When I confronted the school board about it, they said that boys can't control themselves, and us girls have to conform to keep things under control."
"I agree with you on that."
"Yeah. What people seem to forget is a dress is not a yes, and a skirt is not an invitation. In other words, the problem is not what the person was wearing. The problem is the rapist and the rapist alone. And not to mention it has been scientifically proven that people who were wearing baggy clothes are more likely to be assaulted because they are easier to pull off, rip, and cut."
"And do you have anything else to say about your current legal situation?" Carrie asked
"Well, I want my fans to know that while this is taking a tole on my mental health, I am still here and I am listening. I will not stop until every rape and/or sexual assault survivor gets the justice they deserve, and don't have to pay their rapists and abusers hundreds of thousands of dollars. *cough cough*Kesha having to pay dr Luke (dr puke) tons of money* *cough* I don't understand how the media can hear someone story about the time they were assaulted, and call them a liar, say they are doing it for attention, or just overall victim blame. Why is the victim always the liar? Yes, I know that some people lie, but until they come forward and say they did, I would rather side with a potential liar then a potential rapist."
The interview went on for another hour before Carrie looked to the camera
"Well folks, that just about does it. I would like to thank Nya for coming on here today, despite everything that's going on in her life."
The cameras cut off and Nya pulled out a piece of paper and a pen. She signed it and gave it to Carrie.
"Here's my autograph and personal phone number. if you want to talk or hangout, here it is."
Carrie hugged Nya again and thanked her
"It's no problem." Nya said once Carrie was done
"Good luck on your lawsuit and the trial. I'm praying for you."
"Thanks. I appreciate it, I really do."
Nya then left the building and walked out to Jays car
Once she got in, Jay started to drive home
"Well, how was it?"
"It was good. I really enjoyed speaking out against this. It was like a switch inside me turned on and I was my true self." Nya replied
"Well, you know, you can actually do this as a career. Like, you could make a living off of things like this and stuff."
"Really?"
"Really. You would get to do interviews, public speak a lot, go to schools and speak there, and meet other survivors of sexual assault. And from the looks of it, you may be busy next month."
"What are you talking about?"
"Check your phone?" Jay said, with a grin on his face
Nya picked up her phone and checked her email
"Holy shit. 2 high schools want to book me next month to speak out against sexual assault, rape, date rape."
Nya signed and put her phone down
Maybe she found her calling after all.
