I See Ghosts.

It's been a year since I literally woke up in this world. I met Yusuke Urameshi and Kazuma Kuwabara. During the year Keiko and I got close, at one point we tied in the exams. During breaks, I would hang out with Urameshi on the roof and as a tribute, I bring him lunch. Keiko got jealous one time, but I assured her that he is all hers, if anything he is more of a brother to me. Due to hanging around Urameshi, I started getting targeted by delinquents soon after I met him.

He gave specific instructions as to what to do if I were to be in that situation, he said to run as fast as I could to him or Kuwabara and one of them would take care of them for me. Most learned early to not target me mostly because I lead them to either of the two boys or because they can't land a single hit on me.

I found the power that Castiel gave me and it was essentially super speed. Most fast movements would seem slow for me so it's easy for me to dodge most attacks. Castiel came by one time like he said he would. I met him properly. He is an angel with demon blood in him and he is trying to understand human emotions across dimensions. According to official documents, he is my father, but he is according to him my 'demonic guardian angel.'

He knows the power he gave me so he will only appear when I have no way of escaping or nothing nor no one to get me out of that situation. He gave me a skull that, according to him, if I infuse it with reiki it would turn into a weapon. Since I didn't believe him, he gave me a demonstration. The damn skull turned into a big scythe! He said while it remained as a skull I could have it attached to my clothes or somewhere and use it to defend myself.

Since that visit, I started to practice harnessing my reiki which I knew I had since I could feel the energy when I first woke up. It took me the rest of the school year before I could get the skull to even react to my own power. I knew I was getting stronger with every try so that gave me the motivation to keep going. It still a long way before I can summon the scythe within the skull but I'm willing to keep practicing until I get there.

This school year I got placed in Urameshi's and Keiko's class much to the Kuwabara's dismay.

"No, my princess!" Kuwabara wails after he finds out I won't be in his class.

"Ha, the princess is mine this year!" Urameshi declares smugly.

These two have taken a liking to calling me princess since they are practically my knights. Delinquents occasionally target me, but they end up beaten to a pulp by one of these two or both if they are in the middle of a fight. They go into a temporary truce when that happens. I'm basically a damsel in occasional distress.

Today Urameshi was irritable, he left before I could give him his lunch.

"It's his favorite as well, ah bummer."

The next day I find out that he was hit by a car yesterday afternoon.

"This is it…It begins!"

That night I was the last one to show up at his funeral. His mom is a sobbing mess, Kuwabara is pissed, Keiko is another sobbing mess, the principal is shedding a few tears. I stand in front of the memorial with my hands in my pocket.

"You moron, who's gonna keep me company on the roof now? You know Kuwabara can't take care of all those dumbasses by himself," I mumble feeling a few tears threatening to fall, "You weren't supposed to die," I sniffle, "Come back will ya? School is not fun without you," some tears slip, "I need my brother."

I refuse to cry in front of those insolent brats that only came here for extra credit. I go outside to sit against the wall and stayed there until everyone left, silently crying.

"Quit crying he's coming back, and you know it."

I get up and quickly run home to sleep fuck eating, I'm not hungry. In my dream, I find myself in the fire. Enraged I take control of the dream and make it empty darkness. Suddenly Urameshi appears. He explains that he needs me to tell his mom not to burn his body otherwise he can't come back and that he already told Keiko, but he let me know just in case.

"Don't worry princess, big brother Yusuke is coming," he says ruffling my hair before disappearing.

I wake up with a jolt and touch my head.

"He was here," I mumble.

Outside my window I see him floating away with who I assume- wait… I can see him?!

"Is it because of all that practice? Would that mean that he would be able to possess me?"

The next day comes along. Keiko looks conflicted. During class, I work on steadily gathering energy in the palm of my hand under my desk because only doing it at home after school is going to take far too long. Some energy might have slipped and hit the teacher a few times, but the teacher was Iwamoto, so it was fine. It was weak so it probably felt like a paper ball.

After school, I come face to face with the ghost of Yusuke. We stare at each other.

"So, I really can see you," I mumble.

That shocks him.

"Botan does that mean I can possess her?" he asks pointing at me.

I look above him and see Botan, the apparition people know as the grim reaper.

"She does seem to have more spiritual connection than the other one so it may last longer," she says observing me.

"Mirai," he looks at me all serious, "Can I possess you?"

I blink, "Sure, your mom knows me so you can go directly to her without it being suspicious."

"You're right!" He realizes," Botan do it."

My body freezes and I lose control of it without losing consciousness.

"I wonder if he can use the power."

He successfully got Atsuko to listen and avoided having his body incinerated. Hooray! I got control back along with having Yusuke follow me around, I guess since I'm the only other person who can see him aside from Botan. Now I have a ghost Yusuke haunting me. I threw caution to the wind and practiced with him in the room, he already knows that I have spiritual awareness so might as well show him the whole deal.

"What are you doing?" he asks watching me.

"Expanding my energy supply so that I can use a weapon my demonic guardian gave me," I say gathering energy into a ball and holding it in my hand.

He whistles a little impressed.

"Demonic guardian?" Botan asks confused.

"His name is Castiel-"

"Castiel gave you the skull?!" she practically yells making me lose my concentration on my energy ball and it disappears.

Yusuke looks confused, "A what now?"

I sigh taking out the skull and showing it to them.

"This thing is a weapon?" he points at the skull unconvinced.

I nod.

"I don't see it," he crosses his arms.

I laugh, " that's what I said when I first saw it then he goes and activates it," I raise and spread my arms as if showing how big the scythe was, "then this big ass scythe appears covering in bones and stuff!"

"Show me!" he demands excited.

"Bro I can't! I barely got it to react to me yesterday, the hell," I put the skull away.

"It takes a lot of energy to summon the scythe within the skull," Botan explains, "Many grim reapers have tried and all have failed, I included."

I hum in understanding, "Interesting, that makes me wanna activate it even more!"

I go back to gathering my energy while Botan explains to Yusuke who Castiel is which I find out that Castiel hangs out in limbo since he can't go to either heaven or hell and talks about me a lot.

"Castiel is connected to this world then? That's interesting."
