Ned was sitting in the garden under the orange tree where he met Missandei. He was looking forward to seeing Missandei so that they could take a walk. Ned had been in Meereen for several weeks, and since Ned had been there, Missandei had been his constant companion. At first, he thought she was a spy for the queen, and she had admitted that Queen Rhaesa had sent her to keep an eye on him, but not for the reason he thought. Ned was her guest in the city, and she didn't want him to get into any trouble. After a while, Missandei confessed that she enjoyed his company, and Ned told her that he too enjoyed her company. And that was something that was beginning to bother him.
Ned knew that he was beginning to feel more for Missandei than only friendship and worried him. He still had a wife back in Westeros, and he could never betray her, 'I still love Catelyn.' Ned thought, 'Or do I?' He thought when he saw Missandei walk into the garden and smile at him.
Ned quickly stood up and bowed, "Good morning, Lady Missandei." Ned said and kissed her hand.
Missandei blushed, "Good morning to you, Lord Stark. How are you this morning?"
"Good, now that I see you," Ned said, then blushed. He couldn't believe he said that. But Missandei made him feel like a young man again courting a maiden.
Missandei smiled at him and took his arm when he offered it. They began to walk around the garden for a while, then suddenly Ned looked up when he heard the dragons roar. He noticed that six dragons were flying around, playing tag, where yesterday there were only four.
"I see that the two missing dragons have returned," Ned said. He was getting used to seeing them though he had never seen them up close.
Missandei looked up and saw Balerion and Vhagar with their siblings, "Yes, they returned from their mission."
Ned wondered what mission was that. He decided to ask, maybe Missandei would tell him, "What was their mission? Where did they go?"
Missandei paused, she thought for a moment. Should she tell Eddard what the dragons had done? Missandei decided that, yes, she should tell him. How else was she going to explain the note she had for him?
"Balerion and Vhagar went to Westeros to help your son against the Lannisters."
"WHAT?!" Ned exclaimed, then stopped walking, "How did they do that?"
"They attacked the Lannister camp and burned it down, killing all of the men."
"Were they seen?"
"No, they attacked in the middle of the night and hid in a nearby cave. When your son arrived, it looked like a fire had gotten out of control and caught the camp asleep."
Ned stood there in shock. He never thought that the dragons would head to Westeros on their own to help his son. It suddenly occurred to him, how sentient were these dragons if they didn't need riders with them?
"There's something else, Ned. The dragons found out some disturbing information."
"What do you mean they found out information? How?" Ned asked.
"The dragons understand languages, Ned. They not only understand Valyrian but Dothraki and the Common Tongue. They can also communicate with their mothers." Missandei informed the Warden of the North.
Ned's eyes widen. How was that possible? It was so much information for him to take in that he had to sit down. His mind was reeling at the knowledge. When Ned sat down, Missandei decided that this was the perfect time to give him his son's letter. She pulled out the letter from her pocket and handed it to him.
"What's this?"
"It's a letter that your son sent you. Balerion intercepted the Raven and brought it here. He thought it would be faster if he did it."
"Why?"
"Because the information in that letter is vital and disturbing," Missandei said.
Ned's brow furrowed, then he looked at the seal and saw that it was unbroken. He broke the seal and began to read. Slowly Ned's eyebrows started to rise, and his mouth fell open. When Ned finished the letter, he crumpled it into a ball and threw it onto the ground. Ned fell to his knees and held his face in his hands, and sobbed. He clawed at his face in agony and let out an inhuman scream while tears ran down his face. It was all her fault! Everything! The death of his father and brother, the rebellion, Lyanna, Elia, and the children. Everything!
Missandei's heart broke at seeing Ned in so much pain. She dropped to her knees next to him, gathered him into her arms, and hugged Ned tightly. Ned desperately held onto Missandei and buried his head into her shoulder as he cried. Missandei rocked Ned back and forth in a comforting way, trying to get him to calm down.
Ned sobbed into Missandei's shoulder, "It's all Cat's fault. She is responsible for so much death, my father, Brandon, Lyanna Elia, and her children. All to satisfy her wounded honor and to get revenge. She's worse than Cersei Lannister!"
"I know, Ned. And you have every right to feel rage and betrayed." Missandei whispered to him.
"She is my wife, Missandei, the mother of my children. I loved her. I could have forgiven her anything, but not this, never this."
Missandei noticed that Ned had said that he loved his wife, not that he loves her. Why? Could his feeling have changed so quickly, or dare she hope that Ned was falling in love with her? If he was beginning to have feelings for her, Missandei decided that she was not going to push him. Right now was not the right time.
Missandei continued to rub Ned's back soothingly until he calmed down. He looked at Missandei and sniffled, "Forgive me, My Lady, I shouldn't have acted in such a manner."
Missandei cupped Ned's cheek, "There's nothing to forgive, Lord Stark, you are entitled to grieve."
They stared at each other for a moment, until Ned slowly leaned towards Missandei, closed his eyes, and kissed her on the lips. Missandei stiffened at first, then melted into his touch. Ned wrapped his arms around Missandei and pulled her closer to him. She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed Ned more passionately.
Ned suddenly pulled away, "I'm sorry, Missandei, I didn't mean to force myself on you."
"You didn't, Ned. Nothing happened that I didn't want to happen. But are you alright?"
Ned pressed his forehead to Missandei's, "I am with you here with me. But what am I to do about my wife? I cannot be with a woman who betrayed me. And I cannot be with her when my heart belongs to another."
"Whatever you decide, I will be at your side," Missandei told Ned.
Ned took Missandei's hands and kissed them, "Thank you, my love."
Missandei flushed prettily, "You're welcome, love."
With that, Ned stood up and helped Missandei to her feet, "The first thing I must do is speak to the Queen and Princess. I do not if they will continue to support us after what they have learned."
Missandei smiled at Ned, "Do not worry, My Queen will help you. I know she will."
Ned took Missandei's hand, "I hope you are right, my love."
"I am, Eddard."
I'M SORRY FOR ANOTHER SHORT CHAPTER, I'M TRYING TO GET BACK INTO THE SWING OF WRITING THIS STORY AGAIN. SO FOR NOW THE CHAPTERS MAY BE SHORT.
