Chapter 1 - Flourish

(Hermione and Ginny)

It has been one year since the death of Harry Potter. One year since she lost her best friend. And she couldn't cope. The war had taken so much from her. Her innocence of the world at large, her childhood, her parents, and her best friend. Hermione had poured herself into her studies after the rebuilding of Hogwarts. Magic had made it so easy to do clean up. She had taken a small hiatus to track her parents down in Australia. And she had found them. Well, she had found their gravestones. From what she had dug up her parents had passed away about a month before the Wizarding War had ended from a head on collision with an intoxicated driver. They had been killed instantly. She had been thankful that they had not suffered. But this had left her with yet another gaping wound in her soul.

After finding out about her parents, she turned to the Weasley family. They had welcomed her with open arms as always. They all grieved together. They had all loved Harry, he was a member of the family and now with Fred, he had passed. The war had taken so many from them. George was a shadow of his former self. Ginny, grieved for Harry. She loved him so much, wanted to marry him. Then there was Ron. He had lost his best friend, his brother, and the girl he had truly loved, Lavendar Brown. The war had taken so much from everyone.

"I don't know what to do anymore, Gin." Hermione said tearfully as they stood together under the umbrella.

"I understand." Ginny retorted as she knelt down to Harry's grave.

They came once a month to bring fresh flowers to his grave. Harry's death had turned their world upside down. His death had shattered them. They were both young, yes, and everyone said that it would get easier with time. A year had passed, and it had not gotten any better. The encompassing depression had in fact gotten worse for the both of them. But it was like no one wanted to listen to their heartache.

"Gin, is it selfish of me?" Hermione asked, voice watery.

"What?" she retorted with a sniffle.

"Is it selfish of me that I wish to be with Harry?" she asked as tears began to leak.

"No. I wish to be with him as well. He was everything to me." Ginny began as her voice broke.

There before the grave of Harry Potter the two young women simply disappeared. A gray figure beside an ancient old oak tree stood and had listened in on them. With a flourish of his hand, they were gone from where they had stood.

"Wish granted my dears." he said and took a puff off his pipe filled with Old Tobey.

Satisfied with what he had done, the elderly man approached the grave of Harry Potter. He knelt down and picked up the bouquet of forget-me-nots and lilies. With a swirl of magic, he had the flowers dancing in the air and settling over the grave. The grave had now expanded to add in two more names. Hermione Granger and Ginevra Weasley on either side of Harry Potter. The flowers spread across and were now planted on the grave and enchanted to never die.

"This is for the best. The girls were going to wilt into nothingness here." then he was gone.

In another world two unsuspecting young witches had been dropped into the garden of a Hobbit. Once again Bilbo Baggins was going to play host to uninvited company.
