Tim pulled his truck up as close as he could to the now blocked off road. Lisa undid her seatbelt fear written all over her face. "Stay here." He said as he reached over placing a hand on hers. He leapt out and headed toward the officer. "What's going on?"
"We got a 911 call that traced back to this address. It appears there's an armed robbery in process. Someone must have been able to call for help." The officer said.
"My daughter might be in there." He said pointing down the block.
"We are doing the best we can. We can't get too close he has hostages."
Tim let out a loud sigh. "You can't call SWAT or something."
The man turned to face Tim now his expression wondering if Tim had made a joke at a time like this. "This is Hudson. We are using all the resources we have." He answered upon seeing Tim was serious.
Tim himself was speechless.

Ty turned his head to the side to check on the waitress. She had tears running down her face and was shaking. She seemed to be okay. He then looked down at himself to see if had been as lucky. Thankful he didn't get hit. He sat up slightly pushing onto his elbow. "Stay down." He whispered. The women nodded still scared.
The man was pacing around frantic obviously not knowing what to do. He then noticed Amy was standing in the middle of the diner. He cursed under his breath. He and Amy locked eyes as Ty stood up slowly from behind the counter. A flash of relief washed over Amy's face but soon turned into fear again. "Okay, help me get out of here." The man shouted grabbing Amy and pulling his arm around her.
"Hey, there's no need to hurt anyone." Ty was thankful the gun was on the floor and not in the man's hand. He was less likely to hurt anyone but still didn't like the idea of the man having Amy in his grasp. "Let her go. I'll be your hostage. Please?" He pleaded. Tears welling up in his eyes as he glanced between Amy and Jack.
"Why would I do that?" He asked.
"Because she's no help to you. But I am. I got the register open. If we get the money we can escape out the back." He held his hand out showing he wasn't a threat.
The man weighed his options but wasn't budging. He instead tightened his grip on Amy. She let out a small moan.
"Please? Let her go." Ty's voice cracked. He felt so vulnerable. Another side Amy hadn't seen of him. Ty's breathing increased with each passing second. He was fighting the flashbacks of his childhood. Bagging his stepdad to let his mom go. He was on the verge of a panic attack which seemed to evident to Jack. Somehow Ty has managed to peel his eyes away from the scene in front of him to Jack standing terrified in the back of the store. Jack gave a small smile though showing Ty he was in control. That he could do this. Ty had the street smarts to outwit this moron. Ty took a deep breath finding his control again. Acting quickly he stepped aside reaching down to grab the gun. He picked it up just as the man, who had let Amy go to try to grab it himself. Instead of pointing it at the robber he kicked it toward the waitress. Then made took this as his chance. He jumped the guy tackling him to the floor.
Amy scrambled back toward Jack who welcomed her with a big hug.
Two officers leapt into action rushing in from the front and back. "Freeze!" The one shouted pointing his gun at the man and Ty wrestling on the floor.
Ty rolled off the guy onto his back lifting his hands in the air.
Amy and Jack where ushered out the front door. "Grandpa?" She said gripping his hand as she looked back over her shoulder.
"He's going to be okay." Jack whispered.
They had barely made it out of the restaurant when Tim and Lisa came running across the street at them ignoring the police who wanted them to stay behind the barricade.
"Oh sweetheart." Tim said gripping his daughter tightly.
"Are you alright?" Lisa asked holding Jack closely while still looking him over.
"Not a scratch." He said proudly pulling his wife in for a kiss and hug. He had never been so happy to see her or Tim.
"He called the police." Amy said pulling away from Tim.
"Wow, that was gutsy old man." Tim patted him on the back. When he turned back Amy had started walking back toward the diner.
"Ty! Ty!" She screamed as an officer walked him out holding his forearm.
Ty smiled through his tears as he left the officers hold and ran toward Amy. Lifting her up as he held her tightly never wanting to let go. Both cried into each other's shoulder for several seconds before the officer was touching Ty's back to get his attention.
"I have to get you checked out." He said smiling at the couple. "You to, miss."
Amy returned the small smile before grabbing Ty's hand. The pair walked toward the cruiser.

"Are you sure you're alright?" Lisa placed her hand on Jack's cheek. She was shaking in fear the adrenaline of everything hard to come down from.
"I'm fine. I promise." He pulled Lisa into a bone crushing hug. Being just as happy to be in her arms as she was his. His heart rate was surely still elevated the fear of Ty putting himself in harms way. Glancing over at the police talking to Ty.
"What happened in here?" Tim asked putting his hand on his shoulder.
"Not sure exactly, just all of sudden this idiot went off on the waitress. Demanding money and threatening people. He had a gun."
"Seriously?!" Tim's voice laced with anger.
"Ty butted in to help the waitress. She was scared frozen."
"You'd never expect this in a small town." Lisa pointed out holding onto Jack.
"What the hell was Ty thinking?"
"Believe it or not, he helped. He saved everyone in there if you ask me. The waitress was terrified and Ty was able to help get the money." Jack defended.
"You called the cops." Tim said.
"Yeah, cause Ty got the guy distracted." He looked back at Amy. "If it wasn't for Ty risking his life Amy might have been hurt." Lisa lead Jack away toward the officers to give his statement.
Tim glanced over at Amy and Ty leaning into each other as they spoke to the police. They were holding each other just as tightly as Lisa and Jack.

Amy stayed in her father's grasp watching as Ty sat at the back of the ambulance getting his bloody elbow tended too. "Are you sure your okay?" Tim asked breaking the silence.
"Yes. I'm fine."
"Amy?" Tim said turning her around to face him. "I'm not sure what happened in there. But I'm glad Ty was with you. In fact, I think I might have been wrong about him. Seems he sure does love you."
Amy forced a small smile as her dad grabbed her shoulders making sure she was looking at him. "I know you don't like him." She started but Tim cut her off.
"It's not that I didn't like him. I was worried about his past. I didn't want him to hurt you. But I can tell he isn't that kid anymore. And it's obvious he'd do anything for you. Even if it means hurting himself. I'm proud of what he did in there. And I'm proud of you for sticking up for him."
Amy blushed. "You mean it, dad? Your okay with us being together?"
"Yes, I guess I am." He hugged Amy. "I think I was scared he was too much like me. With the drinking and disappearing. I seen how that lifestyle hurt your mom. And your so much like her, Amy." Tim turned to brush his tears away.
"Ty's not perfect but I do love him flaws and all. He came back and made good on it. Just like you." She smiled.
"Get over there." Tim said turning Amy back to see Ty watching them.
"Thanks, Dad." She stood on her tippy toes to kiss his cheek before running across the street and over to Ty. Tim smiled as he watched them hug. The smile on both their faces.
