Dudley Dursley was speechless when his daughter was born, the small girl in his arms looking up at him with bright blue eyes, he couldn't believe something so small could touch him so deeply. His daughter was the most perfect child in the world and no one would ever convince him otherwise. In the second it took for her to look up at him his world shifted and she was the only thing in it. He named her Petunia after his mother although it wasn't until his second daughter was born he felt his family was truly complete. Her name was Crocus after Dudley's wife's favorite flower although everyone called her by her middle name, Violet.
On Violet's first birthday Dudley sat in his sitting room holding both his daughters on his lap.
"Daddy! Daddy, I want gifts too!" Petunia tugs on her father's shirt not understanding that although the baby is too small to open her gifts it is still her day.
"It's a fine family you have here son" Vernan shines with pride while his wife wipes tears.
"My little Duddy Wuddy… all grown up" Dudley rolls his eyes as his Daughter pulls on his shirt more.
"Daddy! It's not fair!" Dudley was on the edge of a headache before a cooling sensation came over him and he looked down at Violet, she was smiling. His youngest daughter never cried, it was a bit concerning but anytime anything got overwhelming for him she would be like a ray of hope, giggling, or just being there. It wasn't only him, but the whole room calmed down, Petunia stopped tugging, his mother stopped crying, Vernan got distracted by the tv. An unseen light radiated off of this child almost like… Magic.
After a few hours of the small get together, Mr and Mrs. Dursley left. Petunia sat on the ground with a bottle of juice and a biscuit. There is a knock on the door and he stands with a groan to answer it, he opens the door to see the familiar face. Dudley can't help but smile at how much the sickly boy from his childhood had grown into an almost regal looking man.
"Harry, uh… this is a surprise" Harry gives him an awkward smile back scratching the back of his head.
"I heard it was your youngest's first. I wanted to congratulate you and.." he takes out a small package wrapped in blank parchment paper. Dudley takes it cautiously almost as if he expected it to explode.
"It's from a muggle store you have nothing to worry for" Harry laughs inwardly at his antics and dudley's face reddens in embarrassment
"No it's fine I just, why don't you come in" he asks, moving away from the door as Harry nods following Dudley inside. Petunia looks up and sees Harry as her eyes shine.
"You're smaller than daddy, who are you?" she asks and Dudley scolds her quietly while Harry laughs.
"My name is Harry, you are a very pretty girl" he smiles down at her. Petunia blushes before running to find her mother.
"To be honest Big D I wasn't expecting Black hair" he chuckles at the nickname and Dudley reflects on his past with embarrassment.
"She gets that from her mother, if Jenna gets word of that name she's bound to leave" He says quietly making Harry laugh louder before the aforementioned woman walks into the room carrying her youngest with Petunia clinging to her skirt. Dudley visibly lights up at the sight of his family taking the baby from his wife.
"She's just up from a nap, oh! Who's this Milk Dud?" she asks and Harry holds back a snort trying to disguise it as a cough, surprised and both amused by the nickname, and the American accent.
"This is Harry my cousin, we send him a holiday card every year" Jenna nods, smiling sweetly at Harry, her black curls moving with her body as she reaches to take Harry's hand. She's small, almost delicate, her hazel eyes filled with love. A freckled face and a button nose look up at Harry as he tries to come to terms with the impossible, Dudley's wife was shorter than him.
"I have to go clean up the party but i'm charmed truly" She smiles before walking away Petunia looks up at harry before grabbing his hand in an attempt to copy her mother's actions before letting out a high pitched "Have to clean, charmed truley" before walking away. Dudley furrows his brows at the display,
"She's been doing that more recently…" Harry chuckles looking at Violet's small tufts of sandy hair reaching through the blanket before Dudley looks to the side feeling awkward.
"You have children, would you… like to hold her?" he asks and Harry smiles at the thought.
"I'm honored Milk Dud, Ginny is about to have our third actually" he chuckles and Dudley scowls.
"Ok but only if you never call me that again" He sighs giving Harry the baby. She looks up at him smiling happily at this new person filling him with the same light she does everyone.
"This one takes after you look at that hair Dud" he smiles at her and Dudley smiles proudly
"She has her mother's eyes but that hair is all me" Small freckles peek on the girl's face, she grabs one of Harry's fingers and he gasps softly. The feeling of fatigue from his job, the travel, and fathering two and a half children disappears with only a touch. He looks at Dudley who has no idea of what had just happened.
"Dudley… Your daughter." he tries to proceed with caution not knowing how his cousin will react to Harry's new found theory.
"She's perfect I know probably better than all your kids combined" Dudley smiles proudly being pretty smug about his kids and Harry seriously considers not saying anything.
"No Dudley seriously.. I think she may be magic."
