I'm back again, shockingly. I really need to start planning these chapters a bit more.

Thank you so much to the two people who've favorited and followed this story. Literally made my day.

This chapter is set after HTTYD 1

Stoick had never been big on affection.

Now that didn't mean that love wasn't there, just rarely showed.

And when it was, it was never an " I love you" ( At least, never one people heard). Maybe he'd make Hiccup's favourite meal or take an afternoon off to take the boy fishing. (Though that hardly ever went well). Sometimes he'd tell stories of his youth, Hiccup sitting, enthralled on his knee. Hugs were rare, saved for special occasions and never long. Stoick had never been prepared to look after a sick, sarcastic teenage amputee who did NOT want to rest and recover.

"Hiccup, get back here at once!" Yelled a tired Stoick, hearing his son, once again, try to sneak out the window. "You're not going anywhere on that dragon of yours!"

"Why, Dad?" Hiccup whined. "I'm fine now. All healed up"

"Ahh, is that why you're coughing your lungs up every step you take?" Quipped back Stoick. "If you go out like that, someone will be carrying you home"

Stoick could practically hear Hiccup's eyes rolling. "I only wanted to go see Astrid. I won't even be gone long" pleaded Hiccup, coughing into his elbow. Silence, and then; "Fine, but ONLY an hour." huffed his father. "Any longer and you're grounded for a week." "Thanks, Dad!" Hiccup ran out the door before Stoick could change his mind. "See you soon!"

A half hour passed, then another… then another. Two hours after Hiccup had left, Stoick was getting worried. What if Hiccup had collapsed in the snow on the way back? It was getting dark, what if he'd gotten lost? What if, what if, wh..

Knock-knock*

"Dad?"

Stoick jumped.

"Can you open the door? Sorry I'm late, we were talking and I got distracted an…"

Stoick rushed to open the door, cutting him off with a bone crushing hug.

"You ok, Dad?" Gasped out a confused Hiccup.

"I'm fine, son" Said Stoick, putting home down. "Just a little worried."

"O-ok, well I'm off to bed." Hiccup said, inching towards the stairs.

"Hiccup…"

"Yes?" Hiccup looked over his shoulder

"I love you, son"

Hiccup started, then coughed.

"Love you too, dad"

Honestly thought this was going to be a really short chapter. Reviews and recommendations would be greatly appreciated ( • ‿ • )
