Chapter 27: Hearth's Warming Eve
It was time to the for the second earth like holiday that they would see… As well as the second one that would see twice (as it turned out there would be a third but only see it once). And that was Hearth's Warming Eve. Which had similarities to Christmas.
Except instead of a religious holiday that that all over the world had become secular holiday to many people (including majority in their own country). This one was about the founding of Equestria.
But despite that many of their traditions were the same.
Such as candy canes, presents, signing carols and even decorating trees.
In the original timeline it was decided that the six of the Elements of Harmony would also be in the Canterlot Pageant that was held, the biggest Pageant there was.
However having 6 ponies who weren't from that world would have made things awkward.
Maybe the next year if they were up for it, but not this year…
So it was decided to best have them just stay in Ponyville for the Holiday…
"I don't remember the last time I celebrated a holiday like this…" said Shoto as he, Izuku, Starlight and Spike decorated the tree.
"Did you ever celebrate Christmas?" asked Izuku.
"I think when I was younger before… the incident…" said Shoto.
"The incident?" asked Spike.
"I don't know if I want to talk about that at the moment." Said Shoto.
"Do we want to know?" asked Starlight.
"Probally not…" said Izuku.
Spike and Starlight shrugged realizing that they probably didn't want to know…
At the same time Momo was reading a book.
"What are you reading?" asked Ochaco.
"It's their version of a Christmas Carrol…" said Momo, "IT's both darker and lighter than Earth's version."
"How is it darker?" asked Ochaco.
"Well you see the thing is that instead of the just Scrooge like character dying in the future… it's the entire world." Said Momo.
"Wait are you saying?" asked Ochaco.
"The plot is that instead of being a miser it's someone who hates Hearth's Warming Eve and they want to erase like it never existed…" said Momo.
The story of Hearth's Warming Eve involved the three tribes at conflict especially when a horrible snowstorm appeared in the old lands which as it turned out were caused by creates known as Windigos that caused terrible snow and coldness.
So the logic that if Hearth's Warming Eve didn't exist then the Windigos would appear.
"So that's how it's darker…" Said Ochaco.
Momo nodded.
"Wait about Tiny Tim?" asked Izuku joing the covnersation as the tree was done.
"He doesn't exist in the story." Said Momo, "So that's one reason why it's lighter."
Izuku nodded.
"Wait… that story also exists in your world… for your version of Hearth's Warming Eve." Said Spike getting weirding.
"Yeah… All Might even made a version of it many years ago while in America…" said Izuku.
"Wait was he in the Scrooge role?" asked Ochaco who was deeply concerned to see All Might in such a role.
"No… he was in the Cratchit Role of the story… which makes sense…" said Izuku.
"Oh yeah... that makes more sense." Said Ochaco.
"What is it something they make a million movies of?" asked Spike.
"Yeah…" said Izuku.
"There's so many movies." Said Ochaco.
"I was just joking." Said Spike.
Meanwhile Twilight (in her unicorn disguise), Sunburst, Katsuki and Iida were getting food for a feast.
"Hey!" called out a voice.
They turned and saw the Nerd Trio.
"Is everything okay?" asked Sunburst .
"Well just with everything going on in recent months and using our combined Gerne Savviness, we think there's a chance someone might steal Hearth's Warming Eve." Said Raspberry .
"What?" asked Katsuki.
"You some pony or some other creature stealing Hearth's Warming Eve…" said Raspberry.
"It's a really popular thing to happen in fiction." Said H.P.
"But honestly I get the feeling that it's probably not going to happen." Said Everlasting.
"What makes you say that?" asked Tenya.
"I think it's because of what happened during Nightmare Night, that was so crazy that it just feels like it will just be a normal Hearth's Warming Eve." Said Everlasting.
"Well if something fucking happens we'll know who to blame." Said Katsuki.
"They're just the messenger." Said Twilight, "They wouldn't be to blame if some pony stole Hearth's Warming Eve."
"Yeah Kacchan… listen to the unicorn." Said H.P.
"Don't fucking call me that!" yelled Katsuki.
"Whatever." Muttered H.P.
"Come on… let's go have our Hearth's Warming Party." Said Everlasting.
The three left.
"Should we be worried in case someone tries to commit such a crime?" asked Tenya.
"Something tells me we shouldn't be worried." Said Twilight with a shrug.
That group got to the library.
"All right! You better enjoy what I cook!" yelled Katsuki who was in charge of cooking.
He was actually a surprisingly really good cook.
"It will be so nice to have a Hearth's Warming Family Meal." Said Spike.
"Well one that's on with either mine or Sunburst's parents." Said Starlight.
"Why what's going on with your parents?" asked Izuku.
"Just you know family Issues…" said Starlight.
"Mom still wants me to get a real job." Muttered Sunburst.
"Dad is still babies me." Said Starlight.
Yeah that did sound like awkward dinners .
"I'm going to get started…" muttered Katsuki starting dinner.
As he was cooking the Izuku, Ochaco, Tenya and Momo all became quiet.
"What's wrong?" asked Spike.
"Just a bit worried about all this…" said Izuku.
"You mean you're thinking about both B scenarios…" said Starlight.
"You still have more than year to go until you find out what happens." Said Twilight.
"Experiencing a holiday like this… it makes me miss my parents." Said Ochaco.
"I miss my mom…" said Izuku.
"I miss my family as well." Said Tenya.
"I hope that if it is the B Scenarios, they don't think we're dead." Said Momo.
"Look if that's the case, I'm sure your families will be happy when you return." Said Sunburst.
"He's right." Said Twilight, "I'm sure that once you're back home and if it that is what happens your family will just be happy you're back."
The four that were homesick all nodded.
Shoto wasn't having a Christmas/Hearth's Warming homesickness because once again he didn't really celebrate it.
Not too long later, dinner was ready.
Everyone looked at the feast in awe.
"I still can't believe you're that good a cook." said Spike.
"What the fuck does that mean!" yelled Katsuki.
"It's nothing." Said Spike.
"You know you can all learn." Said Katsuki.
"Why pick up a talent that is going to be useless in the long run?" asked Starlight.
Katsuki grumbled.
And so they ate the delicious meal and exchanged presents, which after living with each other for a long time meant they got to know each other quite a bit meaning that the gifts were all rather thoughtful.'
With Katsuki's being in his own way.
And so it was actually a rather nice Hearth's Warming Eve…
And hopefully the next year's would be just like that,… but who really knew…
