Tom and Sarah grew a little more nervous as the battle moved farther away.
"What should we do? There is no telling who might be back if we wait?" Sarah asked.
Tom checked outside and looked around carefully, "I don't see anyone. Not even above," he thought about it. Tom weighed the risks and decided, "We got to go. I don't know if we will be fine though."
"Okay," Sarah nodded.
It was better than staying here. Not only that, but Milla'iin was far away and they had time to hide elsewhere.
Chapter 142: The Final Battle Part 4
The battle went on. From the air, Gal'drad noticed that it was going smoothly for the alliance. It was clear by how numerous the creatures were as they fought by the humans' side.
The M'arrillian searched for creatures of his tribe. He needed to try and minimize the bloodshed. He dodged a few attacks from one of them and said, "This needs to stop Neth'uar!"
The worm creature scowled at the other Chieftain as he fired more blasts at him, "Do not try to act like an idiot, traitor! You betrayed Milla'iin!"
Gal'drad countered with a water blast and grunted, "I betrayed Aa'une's visions! I realized that this war leads only to the destruction of the M'arrillians! Can't you see that he is leading you into an unwinnable battle! You are outnumbered and you cannot fight forever!"
"Shut up!" He sent ice shards, hitting the chest of the green M'arrillian.
He grunted, ignoring the pain, "What about your family? You are putting them in danger! They could get seriously hurt or die!"
"Don't bring them into this!" He charged at the other creature, but missed him.
"Think about it, Neth'uar! You are putting their lives in danger! You can't control others ' minds! The Cothica is against you and I am against you! Is this what you want?" Gal'drad asked as he put his hand on his chest plate. He looked carefully at the creature. He dodged a few more attacks. He was about to give up.
"Fight me Gal'drad! Even if I surrender, it won't help my family! It won't protect them!"
The chieftain realized that it was pointless to even try to convince any of them. They didn't only fight for their belief in Aa'une and Milla'iin faith, but to protect their families. Only when the battle was over could he convince them. The moment they understood the consequences of their actions. Despite that, he wished to prevent the bloodshed of his own tribe as much as possible. He would incapacitate the M'arrillians he faced. Once it was over, he would talk with each of them.
Maybe Tom could even work a bit of a miracle like he did with his friend and Phelphor.
Aval'par crashed against the room from one of Milla'iin's attacks. He landed on his feet. He growled in pain as he raised an ice field in front of him to protect himself from an energy blast.
"Is this all you can do traitor?" Milla'iin snarled as he prepared his next attack.
"No," he chuckled. He gazed at his surroundings. They were in a long corridor with many doors around them. He was a bit disoriented as to where he left the humans, which meant that Milla'iin would take a while to find that room. Unless the damage from the battle gave him a clue. Still, it would protect them, "Just found a better place to fight," he flew away to the next room. He was in a large place which offered a lot of room to move in. It was like the place where he had showed up when he came to the Cothica. It was smaller and less impressive, but it was still quite large. He turned around and saw the other Chieftain coming after him.
Aval'par dodged and countered with a punch to his chest. He then focused on his power to throw a tidal wave and followed by tackling the other creature.
Milla'iin used his tendril to hit him with everything he had and took some distance. He concentrated his power and attacked him, "Die traitor!"
The purple M'arrillin raised his arms and protected himself. He groaned in pain as an explosion of energy followed. He slid on the ground and searched for the yellow creature. He couldn't see him and screamed when a large ice shard hit him on the head. He was on the ground and tried to move, but couldn't. He saw the other creature had left him here. He tried to move, but was too disoriented to stand up. (Tom! Sarah! Run!)
When Tom and Sarah heard him, they were already outside of the building. They realized it was a commercial center with some offices on the side.
(Tom! Sarah! Run!) They heard the panicked voice of Aval'par in their mind.
"Already doing that," Sarah replied.
They ran across the street and went into an abandoned house. They made sure it stayed the way it was as they continued to the other side. They checked to see if it was safe to go outside and once, they realized it was, they left the house. They closed the door behind them and climbed the fence. On the other side, they kept running towards a large store.
"O-okay. Maybe we can borrow a gun here," Tom decided as he recognized the store, they were in. It had many articles. Maybe there was one hidden somewhere for self defense.
"Borrow?"
"Maybe there is one. There are a few stores where the cashier has a gun." Tom went towards one and searched for anything to defend themselves.
Sarah looked around and saw the shelves holding ammunition for guns, "I won't ever complain about it again." She went to help Tom search.
They found a pistol, which was loaded. They also managed to find a second one. The two felt a bit nervous as they put the weapons to the side. They broke the glass and picked up some ammunition.
"This is really… really weird to hold a gun like that," Sarah admitted.
"I'm kinda used to it, but shooting at a creature, still not," Tom replied.
Once they had enough to defend themselves, they went to the back of the store to find a place to hide. Even if the Mipedians couldn't find them, maybe they could hide away until everything was over. Searching for the Mipedians was too risky as the M'arrillians might find them. Waiting was the best option.
Gathup and the other Mipedians grouped out near the large building. They heard a few loud sounds inside. Suddenly, Aval'par was thrown out of the window and flew in the air.
The two teams already regrouped and moved towards the fight.
Milla'iin chased after the other creature as they continued to fight against each other.
"Should we help him?" One of the M'arrillian asked.
Another one, Marquis Darini replied, "The other squadron will support him. The rest with me. We have to rescue Peyton's friends."
"Yes!" They replied.
Gathup followed Marquis Darini. They looked around for any traces of the two humans. They weren't sure of their location and Aval'par wasn't aware of their presence so he could give them a clue.
"I found something," Vinta called out, "It seemed they left their hiding place and went that way."
The other Mipedians looked at the ground and saw traces of recent footsteps on the grass under one open window. It was clear those two escaped during the fight. They followed the footsteps as they left the battle raging on behind them.
Chaor frowned as he threw a fireball at the M'arrillians as they continued their retreat. He began to notice what the potential ambush might be as they approached a large building. They couldn't easily destroy it and follow them. Still, the red creature knew they couldn't just go around it.
Rothar blocked a few ice shards as he raised the ground and countered with fireballs. He swung his ax and threw a wave of energy at them.
The M'arrillians screamed in pain as they were hit by many attacks. They continued to retreat and took cover inside a large building.
"They went into the town hall," one of the humans said as he looked around.
Chaor sighed in relief that the M'arrillians didn't try to crush them under the large structure.
The creatures continued to advance and eventually had to stop as the targets were difficult to find.
Takinom was in the sky and looked for some of the flying M'arrillians. She noticed that another one of them was missing. She saw him earlier in the battle and had to dodge a few attacks. It worried her that he was gone. The Underworlder had no idea where he might be and didn't have time to focus on the missing creature. She was attacked by a few of them right now. The other creatures who could fly came to support her. Not only them, but the flying battlegears from the humans came to shoot at the M'arrillians.
Peyton and Kaz waited with their family. There was a speaker in their room. They didn't really focus on the report of the battlefield. They waited for the news that their friends were out and safe.
They put their hands together and tapped their fingers on the table.
Peyton sighed, "I hope they are going to tell us they are okay soon." They checked the clock and saw that it was one P.M. The battle had gone on for about an hour already.
Kaz sighed as he quietly nodded, "Yeah, but I would rather that it takes time than for something to go wrong." He gazed at Sarah's and Tom's family who were together, "They have it hard too."
"Yeah," Peyton nodded. He sighed, "I really hope we get news soon." He let out a small optimistic smile, "I know the Mipedians will get them out of there."
"Sure. The M'arrillians will slip up eventually. There are few of them and many creatures and humans."
The adults turned their attention to the teenagers as they heard each other trying to cheer themselves up.
"And only a part of our army," Alexander went on. He let out a small smile, "There are others around the world. The circlet's they have on them were made in England. I'm sure the other armies are ready to support us if this war goes on further. Still, it won't get out of control."
Remi let out a small smile, "You're right. The M'arrillians are already outnumbered since many M'arrillians deserted their tribe and opposed them thanks to this Messenger you talked about."
"Many thousands of solans ago after his speech and it paid up now," Cassandra thought back. She couldn't believe that her friend's disappearance would have such an impact on the present. As she thought back, she took note to give her thought about his decision to code himself. Because she would bring him back from the dead if he did that in real life.
Meanwhile, the missing M'arrillian went to search for the two humans. He still wanted to give a little bit of what was on his mind to Tom. He still wasn't over the fact that he managed to escape him long ago. He noticed the battle between the traitor Aval'par and Milla'iin. He ignored it as it wasn't his priority right now. He was certain his superior would be victorious in the end.
Rath'tab noticed a few footsteps leaving the large structure and went away from the fight. He checked closer and saw two pairs of footprints. He knew it was the two humans who escaped. He began to follow them, ready to get those two humans. Especially Tom. With Milla'iin not around, he might accidentally get too rough with Tom.
AC: This is the end of part 142.
Next part: The alliance got the advantage as they surrounded the M'arrillians. Meanwhile, Tom and Sarah were in danger as the Chieftain Rath'tab was after them.
