Goodbye Nathaniel
I'm standing in the distance
I try to call your name
And though the terror's over
Things will never be the same.
The nightmare has passed and gone
It's the rainbow after rain
But I still can't see the sunshine
I still feel so much pain.
I hate you for your noble actions
I'd hit you if I could
Because now I'm outside, waiting
Like you promised me you would.
But what I hate most of all
Is that you never did survive
And the people around me still don't know
That you're the reason they're alive.
I think I saw you changing
That night I said goodbye
But still somehow you managed
To tell me one more lie.
I want you to know that I'm not angry
And wherever you are, know this
That among all the deaths and murders
You are the one I'll sorely miss.
Don't dare believe your life was wasted
Because in the very end
You left this world a hero
And in me, you had a friend.
