Chapter 8 the secret of the book
Last time Natsu defeated the vanish brothers and lucy confronted duke Everlue
Natsu: that will teach you not to underestimate fairy tail wizards now to go find Lucy I hope she's doing okay
Natsu then went to find Lucy without realizing Virgo wasn't completely out yet now with Lucy she confronted the duke about the book
Duke everlue: so what's the secret? it must be a treasure map it have to be he must have hidden his fortune in there tell me! boyoiyoiyoy
He uses his magic to attack lucy but Lucy quickly jumped out of the way then the duke tried to attack her from behind but Happy flew at him kicking him in the face forcing him back
Happy: take that!
Lucy: thanks for having my back Happy
Happy: no problem are you alright Lucy?
Lucy: yeah I'm fine Happy
Duke Everlue: arrg just give me the book!
He disappeared into the ground again
Happy: wait he's a wizard?
Lucy: yup
The duke attacks and attacks trying to grab the book from Lucy but Lucy kept dodging and dodging
Lucy: oke enough you want the know the truth the story tells the story of the filthy trash named duke Everlue
Duke Everlue: I wont call myself trash but the story itself was trash it was written by the great kemu zaleon to think he would wrote such a worthless story a disgrace
Lucy: what a load of crap you forced him and blackmailed him to write the story didnt you? You make me sick
Happy: wait blackmail?!
Duke Everlue: and so what he just needed the extra encouragement to write the book any fool would take the opportunity to write about me but he had the nerve to turn me down! So I gave him a choice write the novel or I would strip his family of their citizenship
Happy: but then they would never make a living no jobs no guild nothing! You have that power?!
Duke Everlue: yes I have the power to do everything and so I got him writing that book didn't I but I didn't like his attitude so I put him into a prison cell and keep saying on and on on how he was a great writer never to give into treats but I eventually I got what I wanted
Lucy glared and was really angry
Lucy: you sick son of a..you would go that far for your own stupid ego! He was in solitaire confinement for 3 whole years have you any idea how long he has suffered!
Happy: no way 3 whole years…
Duke Everlue: well it took him that long to appreciate me boyoiyoi
Lucy: oh are you dead wrong about that it was more like he couldn't bare to spread the lies about you but unfortunately he had to satisfy your fantasy he knew if he didn't wrote your character as an heroic champion his family would suffer the consequences
Duke Everlue: …tell me oh angel how the hell do you know about his?
Lucy: its al written in here you stupid black and white
Duke everlue: what ridiculous I've read that story a thousand times and kemu zaleon isn't in it
Lucy: of course when you read the book normally there's nothing in it about him but I know something you don't before he wrote he was a wizard
Happy: he was?
Duke Everlue: what did that bastard do?
Lucy: when he was finally done with the torture of writing that book he cast with the last of his strength a spell on it
Duke Everlue: arghh what a dirty trick he turned a master piece of me into a worthless junk the nerve of that fool!
Lucy: oh stop crying over yourself you bastard its al the truth he wrote about the torture and suffering you put him trough and most importantly the secret was never about you!
Duke Everlue: what the devil do you mean?
Lucy puts the book away and took out her sword and spread her wings
Lucy: the secret is none of your business now I will take you down you heartless monster be prepared
The duke gave a hint of fear from the angel but quickly hide it away and took out a golden key
Duke Everlue: (what could the secret be if there's any information on how I really made my fortune made it to the magic counsel I'm ruined) you think you can stop me diver magic isn't my only magic {OPEN GATE OF THE MAIDEN VIRGO}
The gate opens and Virgo appeared out of the ground
Virgo: did I hear my master summoning me
Duke Everlue: Virgo get me that book!
But when they look at Virgo with shock as they see she wasn't the only one who appeared
Lucy: ..what the
Duke Everlue: impossible
Natsu was grabbing on Virgo totally confused on how he got there
Happy: Natsu!
Duke Everlue: what is the meaning of this?!
Lucy: what the hell are you doing there?
Natsu: well I saw her getting up so jumped on her and suddenly I'm here
Lucy: wait a minute…that means you passed trough the gate with her….call me impressed
Natsu: uhm what do I do?
Lucy grins
Lucy: how about finishing what you started
Natsu smiled back
Natsu: with pleasure
Then Natsu jumped off her
Duke Everlue: Virgo finish this!
Virgo: as you wish master
Virgo then tries to punch Natsu
Natsu: now I'm fired up {FIRE DRAGON ROAR}
Virgo was blasted away from them
Lucy: how about you help me out{OPEN GATE OF THE GIANT CRAB CANCER}
The gate opens and a man appeared wearing sunglasses with two scissors in his hands and on his back crab legs
Happy: a crab yummy
Lucy: not food Happy..
Cancer: what can I do for you baby
Lucy: assist me with that creep
Cancer: you got it
Lucy charged forward with great speed as is she teleported right in front of him and kicked him up in the air then flew right above him
Lucy: your punishment has come duke for the people you've hurt{HEAVENS SWORD SLASH}
The sword shines brightly and swings her sword to him knocking him down
Duke Everlue: ARGH
Lucy: your turn
Cancer: right
Then cancer came forward to him slashing at him with his scissors the duke fell down defeated with his hair and mustache cut off
Lucy: its finally over
Natsu walked up to her holding his arm up to give a high five
Natsu: nice job partner
Lucy smiled and gave Natsu a high five
Lucy: same to you ..partner you to Happy thanks for having my back
Happy flew up to her sitting on her shoulder
Happy: aye any time!
Lucy smiled to Happy petting him on the head giving a small purr
Suddenly the building starts to shake starting to collapse because of all the damage and ran outside
Lucy: ..not a part of the plan but oh well
Natsu gave a big smile to Lucy
Natsu: im already liking your style Luce you fit perfectly in fairy tail
Lucy: you really think so?
Natsu: I know you do
Lucy blushed and smiled gratefully
Lucy: ..thanks Natsu
Later on their back at the house of the client handing over the book to him
Kaby: but I requested that the book would be destroyed why give it to me unharmed
Lucy: …if you really want it to be destroyed then go ahead its your choice to make
Kaby: I most certainly will burn it I never want to see it again
Lucy gave a sad look
Lucy:..i understand why you would burn it its because you want to protect your fathers legacy isn't it
Natsu and Happy: what..
Kaby: indeed its true
Lucy: you haven't read it I'm assume
Kaby: no I could never my father told me it was trash
Natsu: so you just gonna burn it?!
Kaby: I was
Natsu got pissed and grabbed Kaby
Natsu: and not bother to look inside it's the last memory of your dad right some of us would kill for that memory!
Lucy then grabbed Natsu and pulled him away from Kabby
Lucy: Natsu I understand your anger but please let Kabby explain
Natsu looked at Lucy and he could see she's feeling the same but she wants to give him a chance to explain why
Natsu:..alright
Kaby: please that book cost my family a lot of pain and shame…it was 31 years ago
He explained how his father came back all those years and starting asking questions where his father was he said that he was done and never coming back to that place again then suddenly he grabbed a rope tying his arm took a knife and said that he will never write again then he cut off his arm
Natsu and Happy: WHAA!
Lucy: …my god
Then he explained he always told his father it was an horrible idea to work for the duke and ask why he still did it his father told him it was for the good money he got angry and told him he was really upset angry he left them for 3 years the father told him he was always think about his son but told him he just had to come home saying he was an sad excuse off an writer and wasn't much of an father and walked out of him
Kaby: not long after that my father passed away but I always held the anger and betrayal close to me but time went passed me the anger slowly turned to remorse and now…its to late to ask for his forgiveness
Lucy now understood why he wanted to burn a sad look came in Lucy's eyes
Kaby: so I decided I make amends to destroy the book that caused him so much sadness this is the only way.. the only way to preserve his legacy
Then he picks up a lucifer and light it on fire
Kaby: …im sure this is what he wanted
With a sad smile Lucy came forward and stops the hand with the fire with both of her hands spreading her wings
Lucy: your wrong Kaby ..look
Then the book shined and a magic circle appeared on the book Lucy stepping back
Kaby: what.. what is happening?!
Lucy: there was an hidden spell on the book it's the work of your father kemu zaleon …or should I say zekua melon
Kaby: a spell!?
The words daybreak float of the book and the words changed instead of daybreak it changed to dear Kaby
Kaby: dear kaby…
Lucy: indeed this book is his final letter to you hidden by the spell rearranging the words so that no one else could read it
Then the book open and all the words came out of the book
Natsu: wooow
Happy: so pretty
Lucy smiled and looked up
Lucy: your father didn't stopped because he was ashamed he stopped because he finished his masterpiece a novel containing everything he wanted to say to his beloved son and when you read it the way he intended its easily his best work ever
Kaby got tears in his eyes and heard his father speaking
zekua: I thought about you the entire time I was gone
then the light disappeared and the book closed and slowly landed in his hands
Lucy: and now that the spell has been broken you can read it for yourself
Kaby fel down to his knees holding the book close to him
Kaby: father…thank you so much
Lucy then walked to him kneeling down to laying a hand on his shoulder
Lucy: that book is an amazing memory of your father promise me you take good care of it
Kaby with tears in his eyes looked at he angel and smiled
Kaby: I wil I promise I keep it close to me and that no harm will come to this book
Lucy smiled getting up and walked back to Natsu
Lucy: that's all I ask
Natsu gave a warm smile to the angel proud for what she did and turned around
Natsu: welp looks like we wont get the reward money
Happy: aye
Lucy: yep your right about that
Kaby: what!?
Natsu looked back at Kaby
Natsu: we were suppose to destroy it and we failed so no reward for us
Lucy nods and they headed for the door
Kaby: but even so let me do something
Natsu: thanks for the offer but no thanks now its time for use to go home and so should you mister melon
Lucy looked a little confused at Natsu and Kaby was surprised that he knew
Later that night Natsu Lucy and happy were on the road sitting by the fire they decided to go camping and rest for tomorrow for the journey back
Lucy: hey Natsu how did you knew it wasn't their house?
Natsu: oh that was easy it smelled like some other house their smell didn't match of that house
Lucy: ahh I see
Natsu: that was really cool of you luce for what you did if you hadn't found out the secret we would have burned something very precious to him
Happy came to sat in Lucy's lap and Lucy already holding him close
Happy: aye I was really touched
Lucy smiled a little sadly to
Lucy: I always had the feeling something was more to it when he wanted to burn the book I felt the same way you but there had to be story behind it and he never knew the truth so wanted to make sure he didn't make a big mistake
Lucy looked up to the stars
Lucy: Just like my parents they gave me a chance to start a new and keep going for my people I almost wasted it giving up but you shook me out of it and so just like with him I wanted to make sure he wouldn't waste his fathers legacy
Natsu smiled proudly at her she really belonged to fairy tail and is really glad she stayed Happy to and shows it to snuggle closer to her later on they fell asleep
The next morning they woke up and packed their stuff ready for their journey back to the guild
Natsu: you ready to fly Luce?
Lucy: yeah just let me stretch them for a moment
The she unfolds her wings spreading out and while Natsu looked at her she thought she really looked beautiful with her wings in the sunlight realizing what he thought he blushed and looked away
Lucy: hm something wrong Natsu?
Natsu: erm *cough* no nothing nothing at all!
Happy saw this and giggled at this
Lucy: alright im ready
Natsu: alright! Lets go happy
Happy: aye
Natsu ran and jumped of the road while happy came after him holding him at the back of his shirt and flew up
Natsu: come on slowpoke
Lucy smiled
Lucy: show off
Lucy then spread her wings to and flew up to Natsu while lucy was looked at Natsu she blushed a little thought he would look really good with wings
Natsu: alright lets go
Lucy: lead the way
And so they make their way to fairy tail lucy feeling good to be in the air again she really has missed this feeling laughing she rolls a few times and making loops Natsu laughing to he followed her making looping's to later they circled around each other close going further above the clouds up until they stopped looking at each other smiling both blushing a little to then both flew backwards folds their wings and falls down still laughing until they saw the land again and unfolds their wings again
Later Lucy decided she doesn't want to overdo it because her wings just healed and decided they walked the last part to the guild Happy was really tired so Lucy summoned horologium and placed happy inside so he could rest a little
Lucy: are you sure were heading the right way
Natsu: yeah its not to much farther now I can smell it
Lucy: alright I trust your nose
Suddenly they hear a noise coming from the bushes both standing ready
Natsu: who's there?!
And he jumps right into the bushes
Lucy: and he's already at It
Happy: you go Natsu
Lucy: ah your up had a good rest?
Happy: yeah thanks for that Lucy
Lucy: no problem you can go back now horologium thank you for the help
Horologium: of course miss Lucy
And then disappeared back to the spirit world
Natsu then came out and it looks like the guy Natsu was fighting was Gray Fullbuster
Happy: oh its Gray
Lucy:…in his underwear ..why?
Gray: trying to find a bathroom
Natsu: why in the hell would you strip down before you found one and who the heck ever heard of a bathroom in the forest ice freak!
Gray: I wanted some privacy I didn't think an idiot like you to barge in pyromaniac!
And they keep insulting on making Lucy laugh
Lucy: pff haha their so childish
Happy: aye
Later the fight died down
Lucy: so you just came back from a job to huh?
Gray: yup there's a shortcut trough the forest that will get you back to town in no time
Natsu: see told you Luce
Lucy: riiiight so how came you didn't smelled gray?
Natsu: because he smells awful
Gray: what you say fire freak!
Natsu: you heard me ice cone!
Lucy: oke enough guys lets just go back to the guild together
Gray and Natsu: fine!
Gray: and if we want to avoid trouble to we should hurry
Lucy: huh how so?
Gray: because Erza is gonna be back anytime now
Natsu and Happy: eeck!
Lucy:..Erza?
Happy: oh yeah we never told you about Erza
Lucy: no indeed I would like to meet her what is she like?
Natsu Gray Happy: ..scary
Lucy: uhm..huh?
Gray: wild animal
Natsu: a viled beast
Happy: more like a full monster
They now imagen Erza breathing fire and destroying a house
Lucy:..dont know if I have to worry or to be impressed by her
Natsu Gray Happy: be worried
Natsu: besides she's way more scarier
Now they imagen Erza destroying a mountain
Natsu: she's about this scary
Gray: what no way she can at least take down 3 mountains with a single kick
Happy: naah keep it by 2
Lucy: man just how strong is she…im kinda exited now to meet her
Natsu Gray Happy: you are?!
Suddenly Lucy feels somethings wrong and got closer to them
Lucy: get down! {HEAVENS HOLY SHIELD}
Lucy spread her wings around them and putting her hands on the ground creating a shield of light when a sand attack hits them
Happy: what the!
Natsu: who's there!
Gray little surprised and impressed at the angels magic
Gray: dam that's strong magic you got Lucy I'm impressed
Lucy: thanks now show yourself!
Suddenly 5 figures appeared out of the shadows
:dang it the girl got good reflexes
:wait does she has wings?
:an angel?
Lucy looked at them
Lucy: talk what were you trying to pull here
:we wanted to distracted you guys and grab that cat and cook him to bad it failed tho
Happy: HUH!?
Lucy got angry at that trying to hurt her friend
Lucy: now you got me angry
Natsu: same here
Gray: tell me what guild are you from
: im not telling get them!
Natsu: Gray Lucy lets go
Lucy took out her sword
Lucy: you got it
Gray: alright just don't tell me what to do
Then they charged at them dodging every attack
:{SAND BOMB GO}
A giant ball of sand appeared right before Natsu disappearing into the sand
Lucy: Natsu!
Gray: don't worry he'l be fine go take out the others
Lucy struggles wanting to help Natsu but she has to trust him to get out of it
Lucy: alright
Lucy then made her way to the big chicken knocking him down easily with just a kick
Lucy: who's next
Gray:( damm remind me to never get on her bad side)
: huuuaahhhh
The other one is charging up his magic ready to attack Gray or so he thought
:… I see someone special but the stars point a great trouble with water and woman
Gray got a small thick mark
Gray: your telling my fortune?!
The he elbows him in the face knocking him down easily
Lucy looks at gray
Lucy: he's not even used magic impressive ..would you please put some clothes on!
Gray: CRAP!
: where does those brats come from anyway
Natsu then used his fire to break out of the sand bomb
:uh oh
Natsu: you jerk now I got a mouth full of sand thanks to you {FIRE DRAGON IRON FIST}
And so he knocked out the last one and got them tied up to a tree
Gray: don't you think you went overboard again Natsu
Natsu: ahh and so what I got the job done didn't I?
Gray: oh grow up already you're an embarrassment to the guild
Natsu: what you say!
While Gray and Natsu bickered Lucy kept an close eye on them when suddenly one of them spoke
:l…lulla
Lucy: hmm whats that?
:..lulla..by..bis
Natsu: huh?
Gray: lullaby?
Suddenly a shadow came straight for them grabbing hold of them and took them into the shadows disappearing
Lucy: what the hell was that
Natsu: who was that?
Gray: well whoever that was he's fast I cant sense them anymore
Natsu: but what could that mean?
Lucy: I have no idea but I got a bad feeling about this
Back in the town of magnolia a woman dressed in armor is heading to the guild carrying with her a huge horn
