"Do you believe in destiny?" 10 year old Kairi asked her friend Sora as they sat on the dock one summer day.
The 10 year old turned to his friend, "No, why?"
She shrugged, "Just wondering," she paused, "Why not?"
"I don't know. It just sounds girly,"
Kairi hit him over the head. "It is not! Selphie believes in it. Tidus believes in it. Even Riku believes in it. Are you saying Riku's girly?"
"Seen his hair lately?"
They both started laughing. After the calmed down, Kairi asked, "Do you believe in fate?"
"Aren't fate and destiny the same thing?"
She thought for a moment, "Yeah, I guess. Maybe. So, do you?"
"If I don't believe in destiny, why would I believe in fate?"
She shrugged again.
"Do you believe in them? He asked.
"Maybe. I never thought about it before,"
"Oh,"
Silence.
"Do you believe in love at first sight?" she asked, turning to him.
"Yes," he replied quickly, turning to look at her. "Do you?"
"Yup," she replied.
Then she got an idea. She was going to have some fun today.
"Where's Riku?"
"He's helping his mom get ready for her bosses dinner tonight."
"Oh yeah. He mentioned that yesterday,"
She forced back a smile.
"Why is the sky blue?" she asked.
"We learned that at school remember. It's blue because of gas molecules,"
"How do you get your hair to be all spiky like that?"
He looked at her with a confused look on his face before replying, "It's natural, I guess,"
She nodded.
"Whats 2 times 2?"
"4..."
"Thought so…" she thought for a minute "…whats my favorite color?"
He looked at her with a strange looked, "Purple…"
Silence.
"Why are you asking so many questions?" he asked her.
She giggled, "I don't know,"
Then she giggled harder when she remembered something Sora hated to discus. When their parents told them Sora couldn't sleep for weeks. And when they learned about it in school, Sora almost puked on her shoes. But luckily she pulled away, so he did it on the floor.
"What?" he asked, noticing she was still laughing.
"Nothing,"
A silent pause.
"Hey Sora?" she asked.
"Mhm?"
She smiled brightly and asked, though she already knew the answer,
"Where do babies come from?"
