chapter 22 free of the darkness
inside the cave in the temple deliora finally freed from its ice prison lets out a giant roar its blasting trough the whole island shaking everything in its path
Zalti: finally the moment is here!
with Erza and happy
Happy: soo loud its like some kind of monster is growling!
Erza: that sound could it be deliora!?
Happy: whaaa no way it cant be its revived
then Happy noticed the purple beam
Happy: Erza look its the moon drip
then another roar blast trough the temple
Erza: it must be ..come on happy lets go
Erza started to run ahead
Happy: huh wait where are we going
Erza: Deliora may be revived but someone is stil performing the ceremony if we stop them then there may be some hope come on!
with Lucy and Gray
Gray: ..they did it ..deliora is revived
Lucy didn't say anything and started to shake
Gray: Lucy?
Lucy: ..that roar.. its so powerful it unbelievable ..that demon roar ...Gray ..i dont know if i can do this
Gray walked up to Lucy and puts both hand on her shoulder
Gray: hey its alright your with us now remember i wont let it hurt you we al wont ..remember Lullaby just think what master said to you that snapped you out of it didn't it?
Lucy closed her eyes and took an deep breath and remembers the words of gramps later she calmed down and took out her sword
Lucy: ..your right Gray .. i wont back down from fear not anymore
Gray: heh that's the spirit now come on
with Natsu
Zalti: hehehe
Natsu: oh man ..im wasting my time on you lets finish this right now
suddenly right after he said that he got hit in the face by a round object and knocked him on the ground for a moment
Natsu: ahh
Zalti: go ahead do your worst little salamander
Natsu: tsk grr why you!
Zalti controlling the crystal ball he sends it flying right at Natsu but Natsu punched it easily with his flaming fist
Zaltit: hehe
immediately after it got smashed to pieces it quickly repaired itself and was send flying at Natsu again but this time it hit him full in the stomach
Natsu: arghh but i broke it right!?
Zalti: i have the ability to control an objects time meaning i can take the crystal back in time before it got broken
Natsu: what kind of magic gives you that power!?
Zalti: i practice one of the lost magics called the ark of time its extremely rare and quit powerful would you like to see it happens when i throw this crystal ball to the future
the crystal ball went with full speed at Natsu hitting him all over the place
Natsu: arrghaaa!
then Natsu got enough and smashed the Bal again but the ball quickly restored itself then it hits Natsu on the back of his head
Natsu: ahh dam you
Zalti: your fire power wont help you!
Natsu tried hitting it again but this time it stops mid air in front of him
Natsu: what it stopped in mid air?
Zalti: yes i also have the ability to freeze an object in time
Natsu: nice trick but i would be more impressed if it worked at people
Zalti: ah but that's the thing its powerless on living things sins Ur turned herself to the ice that incased Deliora i cannot simply turn back the time on that ice to its pre frozen state thats why were using the moondrip
Natsu: let me ask you something why are you guys doing this? it seems to me your working pretty hard to revive this demon just so Lyon can kill it to boost his ego thats great for him and all but what is in it for you
Zalti: i cant say i only recently joined them so i don't know enough to speak of the others behave
Natsu: okay but what about you then what's your goal in all of this?
Zalti: you certainly know hot to get straight to the point ...hahaha the cold emperor Lyon is an arrogant fool he doesn't stand a chance to Deliora thats where i come in
Natsu: if he cant kill it then then were in major trouble unless your gonna defeat it by yourself
Zalti: don't be ridiculous ..i want to control the demon
Natsu then narrowed his eyes
zalti: you see there are spells that gives the caster power over an mortal monster like Deliora with a single spell i would become the most powerful men on the world because i have a demon at my side!
Natsu: talk about a lame answer I'm sorry i even ask
Lucy: that goes for both of us
both turns around to see Lucy walking their way
Zalit: ahh so this is the legendary angel i have heard about nice of you to join us
Natsu: Luce not that im not happy to see you but are you sure you want to be here?
Lucy: yeah dont worry Natsu im fine
then she looks to Zalti looking pissed
Lucy: if you think i wil let you out of here with controlling this demon then your dead wrong all this for power do you have any idea what damage this demon has done?
zalti: of course i do that's the main reason to control it so much power its waisted not to be used
Lucy: then we wil make sure it wil never happen
Natsu: right!
Lucy began to glow with an golden aura surprising Zalti for a moment
Zalti: (so much power ..where is that coming from ..i only heard a little but stil ) hahah i suppose both of you are to young to understand but one day you'll realize how important power on your side
Natsu then ignites his fist
Natsu: well i already got plenty of power on my side cause all of my friends in Fairy tail have got my back
Lucy: well said Natsu
Zalti: if your cockiness gets the better of you will fall exactly like the ceiling above you
Zalti uses his magic to crumble the ceiling right above Natsu and Lucy pieces of the ceiling were raining down on them but they both jumped out of the way
Zalit: lets see what you got angel
zalti sends a few crystal balls at Lucy but she cut them all in half
Zalti: impossible how is she so fast
Lucy: that all you got
Natsu: watch it he uses time magic he can restore them
Lucy: what
as Natsu said there restored completely and sends them again at here surrounding her and hitting her all over she puts her arms for her trying to block them
Lucy: ugh! thats some magic
Natsu: Luce!
Zalti: lets see if you can recover from this
Lucy: now ive had it {HEAVENS LIGHT WAVE}
she puts her hands together forming a ball of light and slams it on the ground creating a wave of light that destroys them all
Zalti: dammit
zalti restored them and pull them back at his side
Natsu: now ive had it with you and your buddies screwing things up for the villagers hurting my friends its time i put an stop to it!
Zalti: you don't seriously think you can stop my arc of time with your puny flames do you
Zalti sends all the crystal balls at Natsu
Lucy: {HEAVENS SCHIELD}
Lucy put her wings in front of them surrounding herself and Natsu of the incoming attack repelling them all of
Zalti: what!?
Lucy: now Natsu!
Natsu: right you dont think we give a crap about your stupid magic we want you of this island!
Natsu then uses his flaming fist to destroy them again
Zalti: grk!
then Natsu jumped up i the air trough the smoke
Natsu: i may not control time but i can see the future and i see
now Natsu charged right at zalti preparing to strike
Natsu: me kicking your bud and sending you flying!
no time to react Natsu hit zalti in the face with his fist sending him indeed flying
Zalti: ahhhhaaa!
zalti then crashes agains the rocks and with Erza knocked out Toby with her sword and stops the ceremony
Happy: yay you go Erza the moon drip wil stop any second now
and it did the moon drip started to disappear
happy: wait so he did it all by himself?
Toby: grr to late its over the ceremony is already complete
Erza: what
then suddenly a green beam of light erupted from the temple combined with a load roar from Deliora the whole island started to shake again back in the villagers safe location are feeling it to
Moka: whats this ..something terrible has happened
: we have to get of the island chief!
Moka: I'm staying you and the other can go but i wont leave this place behind
in the cave deliora is rising up from his prison gray walked to the water wat was the iced shell what was Ur and touched the water
Gray: ..thank you
then Natsu and Lucy made their way to Gray
Natsu: hey what are you doing here?
Gray: Natsu Lucy
Lucy didn't said anything and touched the water then looked at Gray
Lucy: ..im so sorry Gray
Gray didn't said anything but nodded to Lucy
Natsu: ..there is only one thing we can do now we need to take that thing down!
Lyon: ..no
all turns around and sees Lyon crawling towards Deliora
Lyon: neither one of you are strong enough but i ... i wil defeat it
Gray: ..Lyon
Lyon: I'm gonna surpass Ur finally he hehe
Natsu: you cant fight you cant even get up of the floor
Lyon: ive waiter for so long ..for this moment
Flashback
a younger Lyon arrived at a pub asking for info
: your looking for the most powerful wizard then i have to say Ur gotta be the strongest one here she,s been hold up in the mountains ever sins she lost her daughter a few years back but i swear ive never met another wizard as skilled as she is
younger Lyon: ohh wow Ur you'll think she teach me magic?

Lyon slowly tries to get up
Lyon: ..she was strong but not strong enough to kill that demon ..im gonna do the one thing Ur never could

Lyon was arguing with Ur on taking Gray in as her student
younger Lyon: its bad enough you took that punk in but now your teaching him magic to?!
Ur: he told me he wanted to learn is that a problem?
younger Lyon: you don't need him you already got me to replace your daughter
when Ur heard that her eyes widened and slapped Lyon
younger Lyon: ..wha
Ur: Lyon lets get something straight I've never once thought you as an replacement of my daughter you are who you are
she holds Lyons head and put her head on his smiling

Lyon: finally ..my dream wil be ..fulfilled..ack
before Lyon could do anything Gray hit him on the back knocking him back down
Gray:..you have caused enough trouble
then Gray walked trough the water to Deliora
Gray: il clean up the mess you made
then Gray prepares himself and made the stance
Gray: il seal the demon myself! { ICED SHELL}
magic overflows from his position charging up the spell Lucy noticed this and tries to reach him but she kept being blowing away by the force
Lucy: what do you think your doing Gray don't you dare finish that spell!
Lyon: don't do it Gray do you have any idea how long it took me to melt that ice
Gray:..
Lyon: sealing that demon again isn't going to stop me il wil not rest until i finally defeat Deliora!
Gray: i cant worry about the future i have to do this to keep him from killing us all!
then suddenly Natsu stands before Gray facing Deliora
Gray: Natsu!
Natsu: why don't you let me handle this
Lucy: Natsu are you crazy get out of there!
Gray: don't be stupid just get out of the way!
Natsu: ..if i didn't let you before why would i let you do i now im not letting you go out like that
Gray:
Natsu: I'm not letting you go out like that
Gray's eyes widened
Natsu: go ahead and cast the spell ..but im no moving
Gray: ..natsu
then deliora roars and prepares to attack
outside the temple
Toby: its so loud my ears
Erza didn't said anything and looked at the temple worried
back inside the cave Deliora strikes with his fist heading straight at Natsu
Gray: NAATSSUUU!
Natsu stands ready with his fist ignited to strike but then
Lucy: NOOOO!
Lucy flew with great speed before Natsu
Lucy: {HEAVENS HOLY SHIELD}
Lucy,s wings came forward with her arms crossed creating a golden barrier
Gray and Natsu: LUCY!
Deliora,s fist strikes at her barrier with an immense force but still blocks the attack
Lucy:grkk!
Natsu: STOP THIS GET OUT OF THE WAY!
Gray: DONT DO THIS!
Lucy: ..no more
Gray and Natsu: wha!
Lucy: no more fear . i wil not be scared anymore from you ..i wil protect them with my life ..YOU HEAR ME I WIL NOT ALLOW YOU DEMONS TO TAKE MY FAMILIE AGAIN
Natsu and Gray: lucy ..
her barrier shines brighter and brighter and then suddenly Deliora,s arm started to crack
Lyon: !
then the cracks became worse and worse and Deliora starts to fall apart
Lucy: ..what .no way ..that's not because of me is it?
Lyon: what ..it cant be
Deliora breaks into pieces and falls to the ground everyone eye's widened
Lyon: Deliora ..was already dead
Lyon closed his eyes and grits his teeth not believing it
outside the temple Happy and Erza made their way at the edge looking down from the top of the temple while everything is shaking
Happy: wow what is happening wat is going on
Erza: i dont know but look
they see all the water flowing down from the temple thats come out of the cave
Lyon: ..for 10 years..Ur has gradually depleted the demons life force ..and what we just saw was nothing more then his last dying breaths tsk
Lyon hits the ground with his fist with disappointment and tears forms in his eyes
Lyon: my dream is dead ..there is no hope now ...i wil never surpass Ur
with Natsu and Gray and Lucy
Natsu: lucy are you alright dammit you gave us a hell of a scare back there!
Lucy: hey you did it earlier to you jerk you think i wasn't worried so dont you dare fire it only at me !
Natsu: ehh .sigh
then Natsu moved closer and put his head on Lucy,s and closed his eyes smiling
Natsu: .. i think we both scared each other ..im just glad your alright
Lucy: you to Natsu ..lets just call it even deal?
Natsu: deal
they both smiled at each other then looks at Gray
Natsu: man your teacher was pretty awesome
Gray didn't said anything and kept staring where Deliora used to be
Lucy: ..gray?
then Gray started to tear up remembered what his master had said
Ur: i freed you from the darkness Gray i have sealed it away forever
Gray: hik ..you saved my life again..thank you Ur
both Natsu and Lucy smiled at him and Lucy walked towards the water
Lucy: (..the ice that was once Ur melted and became water that flowed into the open sea)
Happy and Erza rejoined the group Happy flew right at Natsu giving each other a hug then Natsu noticed Erza and tries to flee but she grabbed him by the scarf holding him back
Lucy: (even if she,s not physically with us Gray said she is still alive)
then Lucy put her hand in the water while Gray helps Lyon standing up and supports him
Lucy: (and i believe he is right from the sea she will watch over her beloved students always ..i can feel it i can feel her saying please don't fight anymore)
then suddenly the water light up for a moment surprising Lucy
Ur: ..watch over gray for me ..and hit him on the head for me to
then the light died down and Lucy smiled
Lucy: i wil ..i promise
later that evening they all made it outside the temple resting outside
Natsu: ohh yeahh thats right we won!
happy: aye sir!
Lucy: sigh im just glad its over and that were all alright and mostly because of your teacher Gray ..what reminds me
she walked up to Gray and punched him hard on the head
gray: ouuuch! what did you do that for?
Lucy: keeping a promise and for trying to use the iced shell moron if i ever catch you doing it again i wil personally kill you got it?
Lucy got an dark aura surrounding her and Gray gulped
Gray: a aye..
Lucy: good
Natsu: we totally finished an S-class quest al ourselves haha!
Happy: aye now the master wild be really proud of us
then Erza came with a stern look stopping everyone in their tracks and looking scared
Lucy: ..idiots
Happy: waaaa Erza still wants to punish us
Erza: isn't their something you all are forgetting about you came to the island to help the villagers the request was to return them to their original forms you still haven't completed the S-class quest yet
Lucy: i should have known i had a feeling Deliora wasn't the one causing this
Erza: Lucy,s right this curse had nothing to do with the demon the villagers has been affected by the intense magic energy released from the moondrip spell in other words Deliora,s death isnt gonna change their current situation
Lucy: dammit
Natsu: well then we better go change them back
Happy: aye sir!
Happy and Natsu gave each other an high five
Gray: yeah but we don't know how
Gray then looks at Lyon who was sitting against a rock
Gray: Lyon do you know?
Lyon: to be quit honest i don't have a clue
Natsu: you dont know?
Happy: whaaat
Lucy: hmm from what they told us the curse started the same time you guys came
Lyon: when we first arrived 3 years ago we were aware there was a village somewhere on this island but we had absolutely no reason to communicate with the villagers so we left them alone and they never came to the temple to see what were up to
Erza: in 3 years you never had met?
Lucy: something doesn't add up the light from the moon drip is so bright you can see it from everywhere on the island they saw the light but didn't investigate..i dont like this
Lyon: the villagers weren't transformed by the moon drip it doesn't affect the human body
Lucy: what did you just say?...
Natsu: yeah right your just saying that so you and your lackeys will be off the hook
Lyon: just think about it I've been exposed as long as they have and mine appearance hasn't changed a bit
Happy: hey your right that's weird
Lucy: ( ..so that means)
Lyon: i wouldn't trust them their hiding something ..but I'm sure you guild wizards can handle it
Natsu: oh were not done with you just yet you destroyed the village and u
Natsu couldn't finish because Erza pinched his mouth closed

after defeating Deliora toby explained to Erza why they follow Lyon
Toby: you really wanna know why we would join Lyon..all because all our families were killed by Deliora and we wanted to get revenge he convinced us if we helped him releasing the demon he would kill it ..it would be gone forever
flashback ended
Erza: they were simply doing what they believed to be right so there is no need to criticized them for it now lets go
Natsu: b but how are we gonna lift the curse
Erza: i have no idea
then Erza saw Lucy standing stil with her head down and clenching her fist tight Ezra feeling that she figured out half the part walks to her and put a hand on her shoulder
Erza: ..Lucy we need to talk
Lucy didn't said anything and followed after her Natsu following them while Gray stayed behind with Lyon
Lyon: ...what are you looking at?
Gray: i know you don't wanna hear it but you really should join a guild you make new friends new rivals and even a new dream to live for
Lyon,s eyes widened for a moment then looks away
Lyon: whatever just get out of here
Gray only smiled then walked away
back in the safe location the place is completely abandoned
Happy: that's weird where is everybody?
Natsu: you sure they came here?
Lucy:..yeah this was their camp
Happy: hellooooo anyone here
Gray: sins were here il grab some bandages and medicine
then a villager came running towards them
: hey you finally back
Lucy automatically toke a step back not noticing by the others
:there is something you need to see please follow me to the village
back at the village it seems to be completely restored
Lucy: .looks like the village has been restored
Happy: yeah yesterday it was a total mess but it looks perfect
Natsu: what's going on here everything is back to how it was its like the village went back in time
Lucy: Natsu please don't touch it it just got fixed
Natsu: ARE YOU SAYING I DESTROY EVERTHING I TOUCHED!
Lucy: yep..
Natsu: wait back in time ..wait was it him ..nahh it couldnt be ..do you think it was him Luce?
Lucy: maybe..
Natsu noticed she isn't herself and looks worried
Natsu: hey is something wrong Luce?
Lucy: no dont worry ..im just tired that's al
Natsu doesn't buy that somethings going on and wants to find out be he drops it for now
Natsu: oh wel its not important who fixed it
Happy: aye
the group noticed the chief sitting by the restored grave of bobo and walked to him
Moka: you wizards used magic to restore our village didn't you?
Gray: well uhm not rea
Moka: i cant tell you how much i appreciate it however i must know ...when are you wizards are finally going to destroy the moon for us well!
Gray: uhhmm
Erza: destroying the moon is a simple task sir
Gray: what the did she just say that with a straight face?
Happy: aye maybe she has gone crazy
Erza: but before that i must ask you all some questions would you be so kind to call everyone for a meeting
later when all the villagers has come together Erza stands before the crowd while the rest listen and Lucy stands back by the gate leaning against it
Erza: let me make sure i have my facts straight the first time everyone on the village toke on these demonic forms was when the moon turned purple is that correct?
Moka: yes during the day were fine but when the moon comes out we transform into what you see now
Erza: and the moon first turned purple 3 years ago right?
:wow was it really been that long?
Erza: we learned that the moon drip ceremony has performed on this island every night for the last 3 years and each night it produced a beam of light so brilliant you couldn't possibly have missed it
suddenly Erza falls into a pitfall trap
Erza: aiiii
Lucy: ..dam that trap was restored to
Natsu: s she screamed like a girl
Gray: y yeah and it was cute
Happy: IM SO GONNA DIE HERE
Erza easily climbs out of the trap
Erza: seriously didn't you ever wonder where that light was coming from?
: she got up like nothing happened!?
: she must be pretty tough
Erza: i dont understand why didn't anyone investigate
all the villagers looks away looking uneasy
moka: well we would have but the village law forbids us to go near the temple
Lucy narrowed her eyes knowing there is lies to the story
Natsu: who cares of some rules when your own people are dying you contacted the magic guild because of that right?
Moka: oh wel uhmm
Erza: ...why don't you tell us what is really going on?
Moka: to be honest we don't even know that ourselves allow me to explain we have tried to investigate the light many times we take up weapons we never had to use i trim and styled my sidebones and then we went ahead towards the temple but we could never get near it we get close enough to see it trough the trees and then suddenly we find ourselves back at the village gate
Lucy:..
Happy: but how but it doesn't make sense
Natsu: we got to the temple without any complaints how weird
: we didnt say it earlier because we were worried that you wouldn't believe us
: were telling the truth we tried to go back yo the temple many times
: but not a single villager has gone inside
Erza: .. i get it
Erza then nodded to Lucy she nodded back and started to walk to the center of the village
meanwhile watching from afar was zalti who was hiding in the trees listening in ..with a huge bump on his cheek from Natsu,s fist
Zalti: hehehe impressive titania i should have known it wouldn't take that long to figure it out
Erza: well then its time for us to destroy the moon
