Trying to See With Both Eyes Closed
Sasha's POV
So here I am. I'm still standing, but it's taking a while for my eyes to adjust back to normal after that huge blast of light. I thought for sure we were all done for, after Labtech X appeared out of nowhere and stuck Gino with a syringe, with some green stuff in it. I know I'm not a genius, but everyone knows what's happened at the Gambino mansion for the past two years at Halloween, and it looked an awful lot like the G-virus. But at the same time, it couldn't be, why would Labtech X do that then, and say the things he did? I'm so confused.
Like a light bulb taking it's time to light up, I remember about Moira and Ian. I call their names in a panicked cry, only to feel someone grab hold of my arm. Startled, I almost give myself whiplash, only to find it was Moira, a relieved look on her face. The same crossed mine, but only for a second, as I remembered about Ian. I call his name again, and Moira points out in front of us, where a crumpled form lays. My heart picks up its pace and fearing for the worst, I run over, almost tripping over the uneven grassy ground. "Ian!" I cry as I pull him up and onto my lap, slapping his cheek lightly. After a moment or two, a frown crosses his face, and I know he's all right. He slowly opens his eyes, and squinting a bit, looks up at me. "Sasha?" He mumbles, as if he had fallen asleep or something. I almost cry tears of joy, actually I do, I was so worried. Through my tears, I can see a smile form on his face, as he reaches up to wipe a tear away. Moira comes to stand behind me, and I feel better. But then I remember. "What about Gino? And Labtech X!" I stand up quickly, it hitting me a second later Ian was still on my lap. I look down, and in spite of the moment, I chuckle sheepishly. "Sorry Ian."
Everything's back to normal now it seems, as we hurry over to the edge of the cliff, but then we hear it. "BWAHAHAHAHA!" Echoes up from below, and it makes us all stop in our tracks and exchange looks. My stomach does a flip; we all know that laugh. I almost don't want to go any closer, but as Ian and Moira pass me, I know I might as well. We all peer down below and get the biggest shock of our lives, up to date.
"It can't be…" Moira says beside me, saying exactly what was on my mind. The height alone that we stood from gazing down was dizzying, but even so, a familiar faced golden haired man stands out. I almost wish it were Gino. Instead, as more of the smoke clears, it becomes apparent, that is no one but Johnny K. Gambino himself.
Caught up in his grand return it seems, to notice us, and I don't mind a bit. "Ian…" I whisper shakily, going to take his arm. He shoots a reassuring look back at me, before looking back down. I spare a glance back at Moira, then Ian, then wait; it seems they're piecing it together themselves. "Where did he come from?" I ask, wondering where Gino and Labtech X could be, the beach below is clear, besides that huge crater that Gambino is standing in. Ian's silent for a moment, and a look that could almost be described as disgusted crosses his face. "From Gino."
