Wow so last week was hell with school but I'm back at it. I've had this chapter half written for the past week. Finals were this week, so I didn't have a lot of free time with my other assignments. I have summer classes, but I think I can manage at least one chapter a week like I planned. Thank you for the support I've been given.

Dr. Sebastian Smythe or Sebastian as he insisted Kurt and his family call him. Kurt did enjoy having Sebastian as a doctor up until the incident occurred. Sebastian was the closest thing he got to a friend after everyone moved away for college. They would banter like frenemies would, trying to find the balance between friendship and professional.

Sebastian was a fairly tall man with dark brown hair and blue eyes that were more green-blue than Kurt's own blue eyes. He was younger than most of his doctors as he was freshly out of his medical residency. Kurt always said he resembled a meerkat with how slender and tall he was. He often had to ignore and shut down Sebastian's inappropriate remarks towards himself. It took them about a month to get used to each other, but they got into a routine. Morning checkup then breakfast. Afternoon checkup then lunch. Lastly, dinner then just before bed the night checkup.

Music is really what sealed the deal for their friendship. Away from all the flirting that Sebastian would do, somehow, they found a common ground. The two actually liked the same music and marveled in that fact. They found themselves fawning over certain songs and artists. And for once, Kurt didn't feel so alone. He was surprised how easy it was to talk to Sebastian once he was able to turn down the ridiculous comments he made.

The Hummel-Hudson's gave Sebastian free range to their home seeing as it would his as well during his employment. Sebastian took a liking to the various instruments that Kurt had around the house. Every week Kurt would find him fiddling around with a new one without regard to his lack of expertise. Sebastian said it was because he was bored, and he needed something to fill his time. He told Kurt about how he used to live in the city and would go out when he managed some free time. All the clubs he went to, all the guys he went out with. Kurt would roll his eyes at the comments but eager to listen because all he could do was live vicariously through him. That's as close as he would get with his condition. Sure, it disgusted him how Sebastian would throw himself at anything that crawled, including Kurt himself, but underneath he knew Sebastian wasn't a bad person. At least, he didn't know yet.

It was an average day at the Hummel-Hudson residence and Kurt heard a loud screeching sound coming from the living room, running out of his room to check. He found Sebastian singing softly while attempting to play the violin.

"You know, you're holding that upside down." Kurt said, biting back his laugh. "That part goes under your chin." He stood in front of him, arms crossed in judgment.

Sebastian opened his eyes and looked at the violin before laughing. "I thought I sounded pretty good. You would think after my many failed attempts at expanding my talents, I would go to the sexy musical expert himself." He admitted, placing the violin back on its stand. Kurt rolled his eyes at the comment, ignoring the blush that covered his cheeks. It had only been a month, but he had gotten used to these comments Sebastian made.

"I thought it wouldn't be that hard considering my history playing guitar." Sebastian explained, smirking over at Kurt.

"Well, the violin is very different. You might be better with the piano instead since you know the chords already." Kurt suggested, gesturing to the grand piano in the middle of the room. That was his instrument of choice. He would spend hours perfecting songs or even making up his own.

"How about we make this a little more fun, you could be my tutor." Sebastian flirted with a cheeky grin as he walked to the piano and took a seat. He placed his hands over the black and white keys. His attempt at playing random keys in hope that it would sound amazing failed. "What do you think, maestro?"

Kurt laughed and sat beside him. "I'm thinking it's a good thing you chose the right career in medicine. I'm not so sure you're the piano prodigy you think you are." He moved Sebastian's hand to a proper C chord and pressed down. "Now from the basics."

They spent the afternoon at the piano and Kurt managed to teach him the basic chords. Sebastian named a random song per Kurt's request from his stash of sheet music. It was one of his favorites. First, Kurt played the song over while singing. Sebastian joined at certain parts. This was different Kurt thought, not like the cocky Sebastian that he was introduced to but more of a friend. For once, he was actually enjoying time with Sebastian.

Kurt thought back on the times that he and Blaine sang flirty duets by the piano and his heart pinged. Blaine. His heart ached at the thought of him. This was their thing and here he was tainting his memories. He abruptly stopped, feeling dizzy as he remembered him and Blaine practicing this very song for his family. Blaine was often invited for dinner and he and Kurt wouldn't waste an opportunity to perform. "I'm not feeling well. I think I need to lay down." He said, rushing to his room.

Sebastian looked at him confused before following him. "Kurt, what's wrong?" He asked, concerned. They were having a great time and finally made some progress to being around each other. "Let me check your vitals, Kurt." He said, knocking on the door that Kurt just slammed in his face. "I need to make sure you're okay."

What was he thinking? How dare he taint the ritual he and Blaine would do. Especially with Sebastian, he barely knew him. He knew that he was gay and remotely interested in him, but he was his patient. Conflict of interest. Kurt could feel his heart throb as if underneath he knew no matter what, Blaine was gone. His breathing became shallow, and he managed to make it to his bed. He heard Sebastian's plea and ignored it as he sat on his bed. He could feel tears fill his eyes, body slightly shaking at the flood of loneliness that overtook him.

So, I honestly was kind of lost writing this chapter, but I think it gives some good backstory to Sebastian and Kurt's interactions. I'm not having any romantic relationship form between these two for notice. Poor Kurt but we'll be back into the current day events with him and Blaine for the next chapter. Thank you for reading and if possible, I would appreciate some comments to know if people are actually enjoying this story or not. I've been rewatching glee and I missed it so much.
