Here is another chapter! So sorry it's late. My summer class finished and I've been on prime relaxation summer mode. The next chapter will be longer and give more context I promise but for now enjoy the cuteness.
After about a week, Blaine managed to get Kurt's strength up. It had been two weeks since the fainting accident. Kurt brushed it off being nothing more than lack of energy from the small meals he had been consuming. Blaine took it completely seriously and put Kurt into a new diet and exercise regimen. He even followed it himself to make sure Kurt followed it. They added a daily walk in the gardens to boost Kurt's activity. Those times became Blaine's favorite because it was just like old times. They were able to nonchalantly talk about anything and it's as if they fell into their younger selves for the time being.
The awkwardness of the reunion slowly lingered but it wasn't anything they couldn't overcome. Kurt was slowly learning to trust Blaine again and Blaine was letting himself do everything in his power to make up for the lost time.
Kurt stood outside, letting the lingering sunlight of the sunset warm him as he waited. With his condition, he ran fairly colder than usual. He had gotten into a habit of asking Blaine for his jacket and faking reluctantly accepting it on their daily strolls.
"Ready?"
Kurt opened his eyes and looked over at Blaine, who was sporting a goofy smile. "Of course, slow poke." He teased.
They both followed along the small paved path to the rose garden. Blaine walked fairly close, which allowed for their arms to brush against each other's every now and then. During the few days, this motion would have the two blushing but it had become a comforting gesture. They walked in sync and enjoyed the nice weather. The Ohio weather was a happy middle of summer heat with a nice breeze to cool off into the night time. This is what made them decide on sunset walks. They had attempted morning walks, but Kurt would never walk to wake up on time. Afternoon walks left them all sweating from the summer's blazing heat. Sunset walks were the perfect temperature and just enough light.
It wasn't soon until Blaine spotted Kurt shivering and offered his coat like usual, to which Kurt happily pair quickly continued their conversation about Patti LuPone's recent interview and the current fashion trends in the most recent Vogue issue.
"You can agree to disagree, Anderson. I would call myself more of the fashion expert here between us two." Kurt grinned, gesturing to his outfit. "And I'd say this jacket is just what it needed."
"I'm not disagreeing, Kurt. What can I say? I'm more of a traditionalist when it comes to my style." Blaine explained. "So what you're saying is that I complete you?"
"Something like that." Kurt rolled his eyes at him. "You just like the attention." He chuckled, playfully pushing him. "Besides, I said this jacket, not you. Unless you are implying that you are the jacket then I would have to say yes."
"Does it count if I tell you that's my favorite jacket?" Blaine said, smiling as he reached over to fix the fold of the jacket's collar. His hand brushing against Kurt's collarbone. His hazel eyes met Kurt's.
"Maybe if you tell me why it's your favorite?" Kurt asked, raising a brow. He was genuinely curious. He noticed that Blaine would always wear this jacket ever since he arrived at the manor.
"Because it's the one you gave me. And I take advantage of the fact that I still fit it, even if it's been so long." Blaine admitted proudly. He let his hand linger on Kurt's chest, grabbing his shoulder to give it a light squeeze before returning his hand to his side. He looked away, watching the sun's slow descent.
Kurt let out a shaky breath. He didn't even notice he was holding it until after Blaine's touch left him. He had a sudden flash of the memory.
It was Blaine's 14th birthday and Kurt was practically squealing with excitement. He had finally gotten Blaine the perfect present. Blaine had been eyeing his jacket in the current Vogue catalog and continuously ranted about how when he was older that he would dress as if he was one of the models. The only thing stopping him now were the connections to the designers and the fact that everything in the issue was about a hundred times over anything he could afford. Luckily, Kurt had managed to track down the exact jacket that Blaine had been drooling over for the past few months. He begged his parents to let him purchase something with an atrocious price tag for Blaine's special day.
The Hummel's were well off but they weren't much for splurging. Burt still wore his regular flannel shirts, jeans and baseball caps on his off days. He would always be looking sharp in a nice suit for work but once he was out of the office you couldn't find him in that for long. Kurt, however, was different. Kurt lived for fashion and had a set allowance to keep him frugal each month.
Kurt could remember the look on Blaine's face when he opened his birthday present. How his eyes lit up with happiness. Kurt had insisted on giving Blaine a birthday makeover as his pretend present. The present was consistent with a shopping spree for the full works of Blaine's outfit to later match the jacket. He could faintly remember the bone crushing hug he was pulled into immediately after.
Kurt was pulled out of his thoughts by Blaine's voice. "I never really thanked you enough for that. That was the best birthday. You all treated me like family." Blaine admitted. "I don't know how lucky I got so lucky to have the amazing Kurt Hummel in my life and I'm so happy to have you back."
Kurt smiled at Blaine and pulled him into a hug, which Blaine quickly returned. They held each other close, melting into each other's embrace. Kurt nuzzled into the crooke of Blaine's neck, whispering, "Now that you're back, I'm never saying goodbye to you."
So I didn't end up uploading the chapter on time but I will definitely try to upload one as soon as possible. I am going on vacation this week and I'm going to attempt to get some writing done while waiting hours for my flight to board and if I can't sleep on the plane.
Side note, I have a short ficlet that I've been working on that I will upload in the meantime. I have been toying around with writing stories that match song lyrics. I feel like I'm acting out a music video. I will have that up before I leave for my trip on Thursday so look out for that.
Thank you so much for the support! I appreciate each and every one of you all!
