The ballroom of the Court of Owls Mansion was a quintessential arena of luxury. The room had played host to the rich and powerful Evil forces of the last few centuries. But much like its previous owner you would see hints of the courts darker tendencies. Dotted around the ballroom were several artefacts that the you would classify as questionable. Today though, several of these artefacts were strewn across the ballroom floor as Grand master continued her research.
After spending much of the day searching she found a reference to the nobility, soldiers that were much strong than the usual Talons. If the footsoldiers had survived for thousands of years then surely this nobility could have as well. Grand Master pushed up her left sleeve and touched her arm . Within seconds another court member appeared in the ballroom, "You requested my presence my Lord", She said and bowed respectfully.
Grand Master smirked to herself under her mask at the fear in the members eyes. With her power, Grand Master was feared by her followers, "Rise", she began, "round up ten of our faithful Talons. Tell them that they have been chosen for a special assignment".
"If I might ask, what is this assignment?" The member replied nervously.
"That is none of your concern", Grand Master replied coolly, "I don't appreciate people questioning my orders",
-Gotham-
Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood and Robin arrived at the old Gotham castle to investigate. When they arrived, they were confronted by something stranger looking than the average goons. The person had black hair and orange skin. "Ah bats family so we meet as last", the creature began, "I am Black fire", she added with a rough tone.
"Ever heard of anything like her before", Barbra whispered to Nightwing.
"Yes and it means bad news", Nightwing replied, "Starfire's older sister, she's significantly stronger but also very van and conceded ".
"Oh you wound me Dick", Blackfire called. She fired something that looked like a rope. The Bat family rolled out the way and it struck the ground, kicking up dirt in the process.
"Come on, we can handle this chick" Damien said with confidence and called on his staff". Robin swung his staff at the alien but Blackfire quickly batted it away. She also blocked the next couple of attacks before shooting an energy rope at Robin. It clipped Damien on the hands and he dropped his staff. Blackfire followed this up by kicking Robin in the stomach, sending him skidding across the grass.
Red Hood pulled out his Guns and began firing rapidly at Blackfire. Even with his enhanced speed, she was still too quick for him. "Alright so that didn't work", Jason said with a flustered tone and tried to think of another plan. Blackfore wasn't going to give the Red Hood any thinking time though quickly charged towards him. Jason ducked a punch and responded by kicking Blackfire in the back. Blackfire roared in frustrating and swung her arm over her head, creating an energy whip. With a flick of her wrist the whip struck Jason in the chest and he joined Robin in a crumpled heap on the ground.
Batgirl jumped to the defence of her team mates and clipped Blackfire across the back of the legs with her Batarangs. Blackfire quickly turned in her direction and aimed her energy whip at Barbra. The Batgirl twirled and pushed the energy attack away. Suddenly lightning cackled off Blackfire, Blackfiretumbled through the air and crashed into a low stone wall. "Huh wasn't sure if that would work", Dick said as he walked up behind Batgirl.
"I did say that combining attacks would increase their effectiveness", Barbra replied, "perhaps you'll admit I was right".
Nightwong didn't say anything in response, instead he helped his fallen team mates to their feet.
Before the smoke had cleared, four energy ropes shot towards the Bat family and wrapped around their bodies, pinning their arms to their torsos. Slowly they were raising into the air as pulses of electricity surged into their bodies. The teens gritted their teeth to prevent themselves from crying out in pain.
"Foolish idiots", Blackfire boomed, "did you really think you could beat me so easily". Trying to ignore the pain, Red Hood struggled to reach the end of his gun. After a few moments he grasped the grip with his fingers and was able to fire a couple of bursts at Blackfire. The shots struck Blackfire on the arm, "You'll pay for this", she spat before disappearing into the sky. The bat family dropped to one knee and barely had enough energy to teleport themselves.
-Clock tower-
"Well that went to plan", Damien groaned as he held an ice pack to a bruise on his head. He had already taken a pain relief potion but he was willing to try Barbra's suggestion for revealing some of the swelling on his head.
"In all honesty, how many of our plans actually work", Jason added. He looked over to Dick who was lying down on the practice mat, staring vacantly at the ceiling. Barbra meanwhile was at a blackboard.
"You've been awfully quiet", Red Hood added.
"Just thinking about Blackfire", Nightwing began, "nothing we seemed to hit it with worked".
"That's because she was stronger then us", Barbra replied without turning around.
"So she's really powerful then?" Damien asked.
"Depends", Barbra began, "not much is known about her after she was defeated by the Titans years ago".
" What concerns me is why is she here now?" Jason added.
" Thats the troubling part " Dick answered " We don't know"
