Jaune Age: 14
Location: Vale Primeval's Valley
"Now that the second step of your intensive training is over, we can begin on the third and final step," Mystake said, her and Jaune standing in an open field.
"You sharpened my physical and elemental instincts. Now what?" Jaune asks, bouncing on his feet.
"Today we meditate," Mystake says, sitting down.
"What? Meditation, aw, that's lame," Jaune complains.
"Jaune, mental discipline is one of the most important aspects of being a Spinjitzu Master," Mystake explained.
"I get that, but it's still boring," Jaune grumbles, sitting down.
"Just sit down and meditate," Mystake tells him as she lights some incense.
"Hmph," Jaune responds, closing his eyes and meditating.
Jaune closes his eyes and begins to focus. He senses it, and before he can even think, he dodges out of the way.
"What the Cursed Realm!" Jaune yells, opening his eyes.
"You dodged that easier than I expected," Mystake says.
"Mystake what the First Master!" Jaune exclaims.
"This is the true final step," Mystake announces.
"Oh, I get it! You want me to have my eyes closed and dodge without thinking," Jaune says.
"Exactly, now you can use your Spinjitzu as much as you can, but you have to have your eyes closed at all times, understood," Mystake tells Jaune.
"Understood," Jaune says, pulling out his headband and covering his eyes.
"Good, then let the training begin," Mystake says, her eyes glowing purple in destructive energy, lifting her hand in preparation.
Jaune smirks. His hair begins to emanate in flame as smaller flames appear where his eyes are.
Jaune jumps to the left backflipping as soon as he touches the ground and side-stepping, the places he was standing on burst into pillars of flame. Jaune then quickly activates his Spinjitzu, absorbing the multiple pillars into it before moving in seemingly random directions absorbing and dodging all the pillars that appear beneath him.
Mystake smiles, knowing Jaune can effortlessly dodge her attacks, so she upped the ante. Mystake lifted her second hand to create the fire pillars at an increased rate.
Jaune's instinct screams at him in warning, and Jaune acts on them. He jumps, slides, and rolls, doing whatever he can to dodge the incoming attacks. Jaune uses his Spinjitzu to absorb a few of the incoming attacks.
Jaune uses his Elemental Powers. He sends a wave of Fire on the floor, canceling out all incoming attacks. He uses this to catch a breath but only for a second, as he senses the incoming attacks and rushes again to dodge them.
Mystake smiled. She knew that Jaune could keep going for at least a few more hours, and that was what she intended to test right now. The final test would mark Jaune as a true Spinjitzu Master.
The test would last for at least four hours. By the end, Mystake was panting and couldn't use her powers as she had exhausted herself. She looked at a collapsed Jaune.
*Gasp* "Mys-Mystake, how much longer?" Jaune asks, heavily panting, lying on the floor.
"Don't wo-worry, we're done. You passed," Mystake said, barely standing.
"Th-thank the First Master,' Jaune said before he passed out.
"Well, going to have to wait before I can tell him that his training will intensify from now on," Mystake said, drinking some 'Enertea.'
Her stamina restored, she grabbed Jaune and took him back to their camp for the night. The two would rest for a week before continuing their journey to make Jaune the Elemental Master of Fire.
Jaune Age: 17
Location: Beacon Academy
Cardin pants heavily, picking up The Executioner as he looks towards his opponent Jaune Arc, one of the top first-year students in close and long-ranged combat. He was one of the best.
"Aahh!" Cardin charges at Jaune, who didn't even have Crocea Mors drawn. Jaune rolled his eyes, side-stepping Cardin before kneeing him in the stomach.
Jaune lifts his fists as they ignite in flames, "Sunlight Yellow Overdrive!" Jaune yells as he delivers a flurry of punches at Cardin so fast it seems that Jaune has multiple fists. He lands one final punch on Cardin's face. Sending Cardin flying out of the stage as Jaune poses dramatically.
"Winner Jaune Arc," Goodwitch announces, pointing at the screen showing Jaune's whole 'Aura' next to Cardin's ten percent Aura bar.
"Students, as you can see, Mr. Winchester's Aura has now dropped into the red. In a tournament-styled duel, this would indicate that Cardin is no longer fit for battle and that the official may call the match," Glynda explains to the students.
"Mister Arc," Glynda turns to Jaune, who stands straighter, "Your skills are still on the same level as we started the year. While you have shown great skill beyond the average first year, you still don't take certain fights seriously. This one is a clear example," Glynda tells him.
"Now then, with that over, students, remember, everyone, the Vytal Festival is a few months away! It won't be long before students from other kingdoms start arriving in Vale, so keep practicing! Those who compete in the combat tournament will represent all of Vale!" Glynda announces to the class, "Class dismissed,"
The students rush out of class, and team JNPR and RWBY meet up.
"That was boring," Jaune complains.
"A bit, but that finisher was awesome!" Ruby exclaimed.
"Yeah, were you holding out on me in our fight?" Yang teasingly asks.
"Not really. The attack isn't anything special," Jaune brushes the compliment off.
"Nothing special! That attack was awesome! How can you call it nothing special!" Nora said, glaring at her fearless leader.
"Alright, alright, I get it," Jaune said, his hand in the universal sign of surrender.
"Good, now tell us how it works," Ruby says.
"No,"
"Please," Ruby and Nora beg him, grabbing his arms.
"How about we make a deal?" Jaune asks with a smile.
Nora and Ruby let him go.
"What kind of deal?" Ruby asks, having experience with deals from older blondes.
"A fair one, I can assure you," Jaune tells them.
"As riveting as this conversation has been, don't you two have a class to get to?" Weiss asks with a pointed look.
"Professor. Port emailed us that he wouldn't be able to teach, so we were dismissed for the day," Jaune responded, anticipating the question.
"Oh, so you're both free right now?" Yang asks.
"Yup," the two leaders respond.
"Enough of that. What's the deal, fearless leader?" Nora asks, redirecting the conversation.
"If one of you can beat me in a contest of your choosing, I'll answer any three questions," Jaune tells them.
Before any of them could think the proposition over, "DEAL!" Nora yells, taking Jaune's hand as it lights on Fire, and the deal is sealed with a shake.
"Nora!" Ren exclaims, worried for his friend, only to see her OK.
"Why did your hand light on fire, and how did Nora not get burned?" Blake asks, her eyes wide in shock.
"One for dramatics and because it's a physical representation that an Arc never goes back on their word," Jaune tells them with a passionate look.
"Woah," Ruby said at Jaunes' expression.
"And second, anything I touch becomes fireproof," Jaune tells them, his expression shifting to a playful smile. "Watch," he said, grabbing Nora's shoulder before the two were engulfed in flames.
"Jaune…" Ren yelled before trailing off, seeing that his two friends were OK.
"See, completely fine," Jaune says, smiling and chuckling.
"Wow, I look awesome," Nora said. Jaune removed his hand as the flames extinguished, leaving Nora unscathed.
"How?" Weiss asked, jaw agape.
"My 'Semblance' makes my body fireproof, other things, not so much unless I make it, so my clothes are fireproof as long as I want them to be. I can also transfer my fire immunity onto other things through physical contact," Jaune explains.
"Wow, wait a minute. Does that mean that when you first started, you burned your clothes off?" Yang asks, a mischievous smile on her face.
"Yes and no," Jaune responds, "I burned off my underwear, but the outfits my master gave me didn't," he explains further with a smile.
"That must have been terrible," Ruby said.
"It was," Jaune said, downtrodden. "Enough about that. What is the challenge that one of you will beat me in?" Jaune asks, pointing at the friend group dramatically.
"I've got one," Ruby said, grabbing Jaune's hand and using her Semblance to drag him to places unknown.
"Ruby, I told you to warn me before doing that!" the remaining teenagers heard Jaune yell.
"So should we follow them?" Yang asks.
*Bzzt* "Hmph, oh, Ruby sent me a message to meet her at the cafeteria," Yang says, looking at her Scroll.
"Why the cafeteria?" Blake asks.
"I dunno," Yang shrugs.
"Renny, to the cafeteria!" Nora yells as she climbs onto Ren for a piggyback ride. Ren sighs and just goes along with it.
The rest of the friend group gets to the cafeteria seeing Ruby sitting across from Jaune, Ren, and Nora with two large plates of cookies.
"Hey guys," Jaune greets the group with a wave.
"So what's with the cookies?" Yang asks with a raised eyebrow.
"Ruby decided that the contest would be an eating contest between her and me," Jaune tells her.
"Really?" Yang deadpans.
"Yes, you know me, Yang. No one can beat me in a cookie-eating contest!" Ruby declares dramatically, pointing at Jaune.
Jaune raises one of his eyebrows and poses, "oh, is that what you believe. You should know, little Rose, I tend to defy expectations," he declares dramatically with a mischievous smile and his eyes glowing slightly.
"Hmph, I have yet to be bested, Arc. If you truly believe that you can beat me, then you are greatly mistaken," Ruby declares back, the corner of her eyes glowing dimly, unnoticed by everyone.
"Oh well, then we shall see," Jaune responds, "Pyrrha can you be our referee to ensure no cheating?" he asks his partner.
"Oh, of course," Pyrrha responds.
"I'll help you out, Pyrrha. When it comes to eating, Ruby can be pretty fast," Yang says.
"Very well, then the referees have been chosen, and the rules are simple, no interfering with your opponent, no outside help, and first-to-finish wins. Do you agree?" Jaune explained.
"Your terms are agreeable," Ruby said with a fierce expression.
Jaune extended his hand as it lit on Fire, "Shake on it?" he asked with a mischievous smile.
Ruby took his hand and shook it. The two then sat down and prepared.
"Three Two, One and go!" Yang yelled.
The two team leaders began the contest. Ruby was using her Semblance to boost her metabolism as an easy way to increase her hunger and digestion. Jaune was going just as fast without using any abilities to help.
'I could use my Spinjitzu to help me, but I kinda want to let her win,' Jaune thought.
"Winner Ruby!" Yang announces to the two leaders as they stop revealing the empty plate in front of Ruby and a plate with a few cookies on Jaune's plate.
"Yes!" Ruby said as she collapsed from overeating.
"It seems I could not beat you. Oh well, better luck next time," Jaune said, smiling before he turned serious, "You have three questions. Don't waste them," he told them with a glare.
The others quickly became serious as Yang dragged the passed-out Ruby to a separate location and discussed what questions to ask.
"Ow! That hurts! Please stop," Jaune heard a voice say. He looked over to see Cardin Winchester and his team pulling on the ears of a rabbit Faunus, one he recognized as the second-year student teacher assistant from Doctor Oobleck's class.
Meanwhile, a particular Doctor looked up from his work and smiled for an unknown reason.
Jaune's eyes brows furrowed, and his eyes started to glow as he stood up and walked over to where Cardin was.
"So what do you think we should ask about?" Yang asked, her hand on her chin.
"Definitely about some of his Special Attacks!" Nora said with a smile.
"Maybe… where's Jaune?" Pyrrha asked, looking back onto where Jaune was.
"Agh!" They heard a voice yell and looked over to see Jaune holding Cardin's wrist.
"I told you that you should've stopped now. I recommend you stop and walk away before I do something drastic," Jaune warned, a dark look in his bright eyes.
"Tch whatever," Cardin says as Jaune releases him and begins to walk away before he can get too far away. Cardin launches a punch at the back of Jaune's head.
"Ninja-Go!" Jaune used his Spinjitzu as it passed over Cardin, leaving him in his underwear.
"I'm pretty sure we have a dress code, Cardin," Jaune says with a mischievous smile.
"Y-you, Argh!" Cardin charges at Jaune before he is surrounded by a purple glow, the same glow of one Glynda Goodwitch's Semblance.
"Mr. Winchester, can you please explain what you are doing?" The disciplinarian of Beacon Academy asked with a glare.
"I-i was um i-" Cardin was mumbling, unsure what to say before turning towards where Jaune was but saw no one.
"Detention one week, now go and get dressed before I make it two," Glynda said, releasing Cardin.
Team CRDL scurried off Cardin's teammates covering him to ensure he wasn't embarrassed.
"Hey, are you OK?" Jaune asked the Faunus.
"Huh, oh u-um, yes," she responded, surprised at how the blonde ninja startled her.
"Good, I'm Jaune, Jaune Arc," Jaune responds before leaving.
Jaune rejoins his friends. They stare at him, some questioningly, some surprised, and some confused.
"Why did you do that?" Blake asked, curious about Jaune's stance on Faunus' rights.
"It was the right thing to do. Cardin was bullying her, so I decided to help," Jaune explains with a shrug. He lifts three fingers and lowers one, "You have two questions left."
"What?!" Most of the friend group yelled.
"You asked me a question that counts as one of your free questions," Jaune explained. He lowered another finger. "You have one question left."
The friend group is now in shambles as they wasted two questions. They backed away from Jaune and started to discuss what to ask Jaune. They all then agreed on one question.
Yang approached Jaune cautiously and began to ask him a question. "How does your 'Hellzone Grenade' work?" she asked.
"That's an easy one. The Hellzone Grenade uses what I call compressed fireballs. These fireballs are unique in that I can control them after I've launched them, and I can also remotely weaken or strengthen them. This allows me to have them out of the way in case my opponent is perceptive. I can move the fireballs out of the way," Jaune explains.
"And that's the last question. Better luck next time," Jaune said with a smile.
"I don't suppose we can rechallenge you?" Ruby asked with a nervous chuckle.
"Hmm, Nope," Jaune responded with a cheeky smile.
The rest pouted in disappointment except for Weiss, Blake, and Ren. It was barely visible on Pyrrha's face, but it was there.
"Come on, cheer up. I'm sure you'll get a chance later," Jaune said, chuckling. "Come on, let's go. Seventh period is almost over. We should head for Professor Peach's now," he said, getting up.
"He's right. We should go now," Ruby says, following after the blonde leader, with the rest of the group following after, not noticing the rabbit Faunus staring at Jaune.
The two teams went to the last class of the day. Most of the friend group were still wondering about the blonde leader. Though they weren't the only ones staring at Jaune from the other side of the classroom, the ginger leader of team CRDL was glaring at Jaune furiously.
'Soon Jauney boy, I will have my revenge,' Cardin thought, planning his revenge.
Time Skip: A few days
The following days were strange. Someone was attempting to prank Jaune, emphasis on 'attempting.' Whoever set up the pranks failed to consider that Jaune is a ninja. Any pranks were ineffective as Jaune simply dodged, disarmed, or even repurposed the pranks.
Jaune was sitting in Doctor Oobleck's class, dodging the paper ball that Cardin tried throwing at him. It hit the floor in front of the green Doctor.
"Mister Winchester, I recommend you not litter in my class again if you don't want detention," The Doctor said, standing in front of the ginger.
"S-sorry, it won't happen again, sir," Cardin replied, nervous.
"Good," the Professor said, appearing in front of his desk and turning to the class. "Now, who can tell me the advantage the Faunus had over General Lagune's forces?" he asked the class.
"Hmph," Cardin grunts, rolling his eyes at the question.
"Yes, mister Winchester?" the Doctor (not that one) asked.
"Well, I know it's much easier to train an animal than a soldier," he said, causing some students to glare at him, Jaune included.
"You're not the most open-minded of individuals, are you, Cardin?" Pyrrha sarcastically asked while Professor Oobleck shook his head at the blatant racism.
"What? You got a problem?" Cardin asked with a glare.
"The advantage was night vision since it is common knowledge that most Faunus have a near-perfect vision in the dark," Jaune answered.
"General Lagune was inexperienced and made the mistake of trying to ambush the Faunus in their sleep. His massive army was outmatched, and the general was captured," Blake explains.
"Perhaps if he'd paid attention in class, he wouldn't have been remembered as a failure," Blake said, smirking at Cardin.
Cardin gets up from his seat, "Mr. Winchester! Please take your seat. You can stay behind after class so we can have a discussion," Oobleck said, staring at the student.
Cardin sits down, glaring at the three, even more so at Jaune. The class soon ended before the two teams could head towards lunch.
"U-um, hello," the group turned towards the source of the voice, seeing a rabbit Faunus. "Eep," she said, hiding behind a second person. This one had some stylish shades.
"Enough chit-chat. The names Coco Adel, and this is Velvet Scarlatina," The shades-wearing girl said.
"Hi, I'm Ruby Rose," Ruby introduced herself.
"Cute, but I'm not here for any of you. I'm here for him," Coco says, pointing at Jaune.
"Me, why me?" Jaune asks.
"You helped bun-bun here, so I wanted to check if you were the real deal," she said, leaning her shades down.
Jaune takes a step back but looks her in the eyes while making his eyes glow as an intimidation tactic.
"Alright, I can see why some of the second years think you're all that," Coco said, pushing her sunglasses up.
"Huh," Jaune responded, stepping back.
"Well, you choose a good one, bun-bun," Coco said to Velvet.
"Coco…" Velvet muttered, embarrassed.
"Relax, Velvet. I'm joking," Coco said before turning towards Jaune, "Now show it to me," she demanded.
"What!?" Most of the group yelled. The rest blushed at the indication sans Jaune and Ruby, one because she was too innocent for this world and one because he was as dense as a sack of bricks made of lead.
"Show you what exactly?" Jaune asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Your DX outfit, obviously," Coco said, rolling her eyes.
"Oh, alright. Ninja-go!" Jaune uses his Spinjitzu and changes into his DX suit with Crocea Mors on his back.
"Hmm," Coco says, walking around the ninja in examination before nodding in approval, "Whoever made this truly has an eye for style," she finished.
"Thanks, my master made it for me," Jaune says, taking his hood off.
"Send them my regards if they ever stop by," Coco said before turning away, "Come on, Bun-bun, we should let them enjoy their lunch in peace," she told Velvet, walking away.
"Coming," Velvet said to Coco before turning to face the group of first years, "thank you for helping me," she said before running off.
"Well, that just happened," Yang said as the rest of the group processed what just happened while Jaune used his Spinjitzu to change back into his uniform.
"Well, come on, lunch waits for no man!" Jaune said dramatically, pointing in the direction of the cafeteria.
"Yeah!" Nora said, standing next to her fearless leader.
The group went on with their day and prepared for Friday's Forever Fall trip.
Time Skip: Friday
Jaune woke up early and checked his dorm for any more pranks. They had been going on for about a week, and he was starting to get annoyed with them. He sighed in relief when he found none and went to the bathroom for his usual morning routine.
"Morning," Jaune said to his teammates as he exited the bathroom.
"Morning," Ren responded, ready to wake Nora up.
"Good morning," Pyrrha said with a small smile.
Jaune just nodded and kept walking to get dressed. "Are you guys ready for the trip today?" Jaune asked, looking at which suit to use for the trip.
"I am!" Nora yelled excitedly.
"Oh hey, you're awake," Jaune said, staring at the petite redhead.
"Of course, Fearless leader, I would never miss an opportunity to get free syrup!" Nora responded with a wide smile.
"Heh, should've seen that coming," Jaune says, chuckling, "just make sure you leave some for the rest of us, OK," he tells her with a smile as he ruffles her hair.
"You got it, Fearless leader," Nora says, smiling with a salute.
Pyrrha stared at the heartwarming scene before she turned away, 'He cares so much, yet we don't know much about him. But I know that he will be the best leader we could've ever asked for,' she thinks, frowning, thinking how after the initiation, Jaune didn't pay as much attention to her as he did during it.
"The bathroom is free to use," Ren said as he exited the bathroom.
"Great, my turn!" Nora announced, entering the bathroom before anybody else could.
"Looks like you're going to have to wait a while Pyrrha," Ren said, prepping his weapons.
"It appears so," Pyrrha responded, prepping her weapon.
"Yup, tea?" Jaune offers the others, having decided on which suit to wear.
"Yes, please," Pyrrha accepts the tea.
Ren says nothing, only nodding and taking the tea, but Jaune could see the appreciation in his eyes.
"So I've been to Forever Fall before, and I'm pretty sure I'm allergic to the sap we're going to be collecting," Jaune says, taking a sip of tea.
"Oh, maybe we can ask Goodwitch if you can stay behind," Pyrrha said, worried.
"Nah, it's fine. Besides, the Forrest is full of Grimm. We need as much manpower as we can get," Jaune said, brushing off her worry.
"Oh, if you say so," Pyrrha replied, staring at her tea.
*Bzzt* "Hmm," Jaune pulls out his and checks it, seeing a notification from Professor Goodwitch.
"What is it?" Pyrrha asks.
"It's Professor Goodwitch telling team leaders the Bullhead schedule for the trip," Jaune responds, not looking up from his Scroll.
"How long do we have before our departure?" Ren asks, pouring himself more tea.
"The Bullheads are set to leave at 10 am. It's 7:46. We still have two and a quarter hours left before we leave," Jaune responds.
"We should probably get Nora to hurry up," Pyrrha said, needing to go to the bathroom.
"I'm already finished. I was waiting for you to finish your conversation," Nora said, standing behind the three, surprising Pyrrha. Jaune and Ren knew she was there already.
"Nora, you shouldn't sneak up on people like that," Pyrrha reprimands.
"Why not? Jaune does it all the time," Nora argues.
"I'm a ninja. You're not," Jaune responds, "Pyrrha, you might want to hurry so we can get some breakfast," he tells his partner.
"Oh, right, sorry," Pyrrha says, approaching the bathroom.
"Oh, what are we drinking?" Nora asks, picking up a teacup designated for her.
"Lemon-honey tea, my favorite," Jaune tells her, finishing his cup and pouring himself some more.
"It's good. Where do you get it from?" Ren asks, sipping his tea.
"Trade secret, I'm afraid," Jaune responds, smiling.
"I should've expected that," Ren responds.
"I'm done," Pyrrha says, exiting the bathroom in her armor.
"Great, let's head towards the cafeteria for some breakfast," Jaune says, standing up.
"Yeah!" Nora yells in excitement.
The team heads to the cafeteria to meet with team RWBY and have breakfast while discussing the trip and their excitement. Eventually, the time arrives, and both teams head towards the Bullheads seeing the other first-year teams.
"Students, please line up orderly, or you will get detention," Glynda warns with a glare.
The students all listen, lining up and placing their weapons on the storage before entering the Bullhead and taking spots close to their teammates.
The trip was uneventful. Jaune had been training in secret using one of his unique techniques to help with his motion sickness. The students get off, and Jaune swallows the lump in his throat before he listens to Professor Goodwitch's speech.
"Yes, students, the forest of Forever Fall is indeed beautiful. But we are not here to sightsee. Professor Peach has asked all of you to collect samples from the trees deep inside this forest, and I'm here to make sure none of you die while doing so," The caped Professor told the students.
The students all line up with their respective teams. Looking at Professor Goodwitch, the Professor turns back to the students with a jar in her hand.
"Each of you is to gather one jar's worth of red sap. However, this forest is full of creatures of Grimm, so be sure to stay with your teammates. We will rendezvous back here at 4 o'clock. Have fun!" She finishes with a smile, which, weirdly enough, scares the students more than her glare.
"Well, come on, I know a good spot," Jaune says, pointing in a direction.
"Very well," Pyrrha says, nodding.
Ren says nothing, only following.
"Right on, Fearless Leader!" Nora says, excited for the free syrup.
Three of the members of team JNPR fail to notice a particular team glare at them, specifically their team leader.
"So, do you know what to do?" Jaune asks his partner, holding the empty jar.
"Of course," Pyrrha said, tapping the tree and extracting the sap into the jar.
"Good, I don't want to get near the stuff," Jaune replied, sighing.
*Sip*
"Hmm," Pyrrha looks at the now empty jar in his hand, "Dang it, Nora!"
*Sigh* "We're going to be here a while," Jaune said, smiling.
"Sorry, I tried to get her to stop, but she was too strong," Ren said, holding his own empty jar.
"It's fi-" *Bzz* "Do you hear that?" Jaune asked.
"Grimm," Pyrrha said, prepping her weapon.
"Rapier Wasps!" Jaune yells, seeing the Grimm approaching.
Nora and Ren stood next to Jaune and Pyrrha as they saw a group of Rapier Wasps approach, but before any fighting could occur.
"Light Grenade!" Jaune yelled, and they saw a pillar of light shoot beside them, completely disintegrating the Grimm. "Well, now that that's over, we can get back to this," he said, holding a jar.
"What the hell!" they heard a voice yell from afar.
*ROAR!*
"That might require our attention," Jaune said calmly. *sigh* "Come on, let's go," he said, jogging towards the origin of the roar.
As team JNPR approached the roar, they saw three of the four members of team CRDL running and yelling about an Ursa.
"I knew they were racists, but I didn't think they were cowards! What kind of Huntsman are they?!" Jaune yells with a glare, his eyes emanating flames.
When the team got to the noise source, they saw Cardin on the ground with an Ursa Major standing over him. Jaune quickly created a small burst of flames beneath his feet, which shot him forward. He enveloped one of his hands in flames and punched the Ursa hard enough to launch it back.
"Ren, check on Cardin! Nora, contact Goodwitch and take care of any Grimm! Pyrrha provides long-range support!" He ordered unsheathing Crocea Mors, igniting it and charging at the Ursa.
The three did as they were ordered. Ren saw that the Ursa had dented Cardin's armor and his mace damaged. Other than that, Cardin seemed fine.
Nora grabbed her Scroll and quickly contacted Goodwitch and explained the situation. When she finished, she put her Scroll away, took out Magnhild, and took a stance, ready to shoot any Grimm approaching.
Pyrrha changed her weapon into its rifle form and shot at the Ursa whenever Jaune wasn't near it.
Jaune slashed at the Ursa Major and shot it with Fire whenever he could. It easily brushed off his less powerful fire blasts and fireballs. It went for a slash but was shot at a distance by Pyrrha, letting Jaune get in a clean slash.
Despite the clean hit, it barely did anything to the Ursa as it prepared to slash at Jaune again. Jaune backed away and prepared a more potent blast in his left hand that would be able to stun it, but then he had a different idea.
Jaune sent Pyrrha a hand signal using his left hand towards Pyrrha, telling her to switch to her flare rounds. She did so, waited to shoot at it, and got a signal from Jaune as he backed away from the Ursa. She then shot it with the flare causing it to be stunned, allowing Jaune to charge in and decapitate it with one swing.
"Ren, how is he?" Jaune asks, approaching his team.
"He'll be fine. He's only knocked out," Ren responds.
*Sigh* "Good," Jaune says, turning to Pyrrha and Nora. "Thanks for the help. Pyrrha couldn't have done it without you," he tells her, smiling.
"Where's my praise, Fearless Leader?" Nora asks with a pout.
"Hehe, I didn't forget about you, Nora. You did great, too," Jaune responds, ruffling her hair.
*RROARR!*
JNPR was startled by the roar. It was even louder than the Ursa Major. Jaune quickly ignited Crocea Mors and looked around, searching for the source of the roar.
*Stomp stomp stomp*
The team heard it, turned to where the stomping came from and saw it was an Ursa Gigas. It was twice the size of an Ursa Major and had claws half as long as Jaune was tall.
"All of you get Cardin out of here. I'll hold it off until Professor Goodwitch gets here!" Jaune ordered.
"But-" Pyrrha tried to protest.
"Now!" Jaune said.
Ren's fist clenched, but he knew getting Cardin out of danger took priority.
Nora went to follow Ren to keep him safe but turned back to Pyrrha and gave her a look before leaving.
Pyrrha understood what Nora was asking. Despite not saying anything, she pleaded to keep Jaune safe. She went to stand next to Jaune and shifted her weapon into its Xiphos form.
"I told you to go!" Jaune yelled at Pyrrha.
"I'm not going to let you fight alone!" Pyrrha responded.
"Stop being stubborn, Magenta, and go!" Jaune yelled, realizing what he had said.
"Jau-" Pyrrha was about to say something before she got hit with a strange bolt of purple energy.
"Pyrrha!" Jaune yelled, rushing at her. 'Don't be like Magenta! Don't be like Olive! Don't be like Emerald!' tears fell down his face.
"Can't anyone I care about not get hurt because of me!" He yelled, holding Pyrrha.
"Oh boohoo, who cares about her," a condescending voice said.
Jaune turned to face the voice and saw two men standing there, the Ursa Gigas disappearing as if it were never there, to begin with. One had a strange-looking staff, and the other had a large book in his hands.
"What did you just say!" Jaune yelled at the man who spoke, the flames around his eyes burning with hate.
"Mister Arc, are you OK?" Jaune heard the voice of Glynda Goodwitch ask from a distance.
"Ugh, Clouse can you take care of the extras?" the one with the staff ordered.
"Of course, my master," Clouse said, opening his book as his hands glowed with dark magic.
Team RWBY, NR, and Professor Goodwitch arrived where Jaune was and saw a frightening sight. Jaune was holding the body of Pyrrha as two men were standing close to him. One was prepared to fight.
Clouse said something in an incoherent language, sending a blast of magic, causing everyone except for Chen, Clouse, and Jaune to get sent back. Professor Goodwitch used her Semblance to catch Pyrrha. The rest of the team saw a strange purple barrier burst from the ground blocking their view of Jaune.
"Now then, prepare yourself for only one can remain," Chen said, lifting his staff.
"I would suggest you hurry, master. I'm not sure how long I can keep up this barrier," Clouse said.
"Fine, fine, don't be such a worrywart, Clouse," Chen responds, activating the element of Lightning, increasing his reflexes and dodging Jaune's attack. Jaune's eyes widen as Chen counters, using the element of Earth, increasing his strength and punching Jaune, sending him back and launching Crocea Mors out of his hand.
Jaune recovers as his Fire surrounds him. "Great Wall of Fire!" he yells, sending a giant firewall at Chen.
Chen sees this and activates the water element, sending a tidal wave countering the firewall. A large amount of steam caused a smokescreen, but before he could use Wind to clear it out. Using Fire from his feet, Jaune flew toward Chen and sent a punch, but Chen blocked using his staff.
Jaune felt strange. He saw a strange red glow on the staff. Realizing what was happening, he created a fire in his hands, sending himself backward. 'He's the one Mystake warned me about!' Jaune thought.
Chen then used Lightning to increase his speed and charge at Jaune, launching a powerful bolt of Lightning at Jaune's stomach. Jaune took a deep breath and sent a large fire from his mouth.
The attack caught Chen by surprise, and he jumped backward as Jaune, still blinded by his rage, sent a blast of concentrated Fire.
"Dragon Pillar Blast!" Jaune yells as he creates a pillar of Fire in the shape of a dragon and sends it toward Chen. Chen uses Water and Wind to create a storm weakening the Fire before using Earth and canceling the attack.
Jaune pants but remembers the lessons Mystake taught him as he begins to calm down and form a strategy. He smiles and knows precisely what attack to use, igniting his fists and sending hundreds of fireballs at Chen.
Chen sees this and uses water to extinguish some fireballs and Wind to send a few back to Jaune. Jaune uses his Fire to fly into the air before sending even more fireballs at Chen.
"Take this! Meteor Burst Fall!" Jaune yells a giant fireball in his hands as he points it toward Chen. As it splits into multiple smaller fireballs, all are aiming at Chen.
Chen uses Lightning to increase his speed and dodge a few but is still hit by many. "ENOUGH!" Chen yells, using Water, Wind, and Earth to extinguish the fireballs.
"Hellzone Grenade!" Jaune yells as more fireballs appear around Chen and launch themselves at him.
Meanwhile, Outside the Barrier.
Everyone and anyone could fire at the barrier using their weapons. Glynda used her Semblance to lift a tree and sent it at the barrier. The barrier had reacted strangely. It reacted with a strange ripple effect as Clouse sent a strange bolt of energy back at them.
"Danm it, we can't even make a dent in this stupid thing!" Yang yelled, her eyes red and her hair ablaze.
"Calm yourself, Miss Xiao-long! We can't allow ourselves to lose focus," Professor Goodwitch reprimanded her students.
"Ja…" Pyrrha mumbled.
"Pyrrha, are you OK?" Ruby asked the semi-conscious champion.
"Ja-ne," Pyrrha mumbled again.
"Miss Schnee, have you made any progress on the barrier's reaction to Dust?" The caped Professor asked into her Scroll.
"Unfortunately, the barrier seems to have an immunity to the dust," Weiss replied, looking down and putting her Scroll away before attempting again.
"Fearless Leader is trapped, and we can't do anything about it!" Nora said, worried for her fearless leader.
Meanwhile, Back Inside The Barrier.
The many fireballs Jaune had launched around the field were still launching at Chen. Jaune thought he had done it, but a massive tornado appeared as Chen flew upwards, injured but even more pissed.
"You think you can win? I have all the power!" Chen yelled as he directed a tornado of Wind, Lightning, Earth, and Water at Jaune, who quickly charged a compacted fireblast to hold the tornado back.
Jaune's attack was overpowered, sending him back to the ground. Chen then charged one final Lightning bolt. "This will be the last attack before I take your power for myself!" he yelled at Jaune.
"Yeah, this will be my final attack so I can avenge the other masters," Jaune said as he surrounded himself with Fire and focused it into his fist.
"Absolution Bolt!" Chen yelled, sending the blast of pure Elemental Energy at Jaune.
"Dragon Fist!" Jaune used his Fire to fly once more. His fist extended towards Chen as the image of a Dragon made of pure Fire surrounded him. The two attacks collide, with Jaune struggling to overpower Chen's attack.
"Master the Elemental Energy is too much for the barrier to handle. It won't hold!" Clouse warns as his grip on the barrier weakens.
Outside The Barrier
The two teams and Professor Goodwitch notice a strange distortion in the barrier.
"What was that?" Blake asks, seeing the distortion.
They then felt the power leaking from the distortion, pushing them all back.
"Dragon Fist!" they heard a voice yell.
"That was Jaune!" Ruby yells, recognizing her first friend.
"Fearless Leader!" Nora yells, worried for her fearless leader.
"Jaune!" Pyrrha Yells, worried for her partner.
"Jaune!" Ren yells, letting his composure slip worried for his brother in spirit.
"Students stand back," Glynda tells them as she activates her Semblance, pushing herself to her limits, lifting two trees, and launching them at the barrier.
At the same time, on the other side of the barrier, Weiss saw the same type of distortion and was about to use her dust again.
Inside the Barrier
"That was Jaune!" "Fearless Leader!" "Jaune!" "Jaune!" Jaune heard his friends call out to him. Shedding a tear, he pushes himself further.
"Master, finish it now!" Clouse yells as the barrier is shattered, launching him back.
As the barrier shatters, Jaune pushes through Chen's final attack. He flies closer and closer to Chen.
"Take this the power of the Elemental Master of Fire!" Jaune yells, landing a hit as the flame dragon envelopes Chen creating a blinding explosion.
Everyone is pushed back as both Jaune and Chen fall to the ground. Clouse manages to catch Chen and uses the last of his energy to place a memory spell on Jaune before using the smoke screen to escape undetected.
"Jaune!" His friends and even Goodwitch yell, rushing to the downed boy. Nora finds Crocea Mors and grabs it.
They find him, but he is in bad shape. Jaune has multiple bruises, cuts, burns, and gashes all over his body. His DX suit was utterly destroyed.
"Quickly get him to the Bullhead!" Goodwitch orders.
The rest pick him up and carry him towards the Bullhead, worried for their friend, some shaking and others in tears. They get him to the Bullhead, and they are forced to depart early. The other first years were shocked at Jaune's state since they saw him as nearly invincible since they'd never seen him have to excerpt himself.
Jaune's team was in shambles. Pyrrha was quietly crying next to her partner, holding his head, Nora was completely weeping next to Jaune, begging him not to die, and Ren had completely shut down with only a blank stare as he stood next to his brother.
Team RWBY was quietly sitting next to their sister team, processing what had happened and what they saw.
When the Bullhead arrives at Beacon Academy, Professor Goodwitch immediately rushes Jaune towards the infirmary. Team NPR and RWBY following worried for their friend, leader, partner, and teammate.
Jaune is placed in the infirmary with team NPR, and RWBY is allowed to stay with Jaune as he recovers. Later, team CFVY visits, worried over the blonde Velvet since she considers Jaune a friend and Coco because she heard about Jaune's DX suit being destroyed.
Location: Ozpin's Office
"Ozpin, one of our students, was attacked and is currently in a coma with multiple life-threatening injuries in our infirmary!" Glynda yells at the Headmaster.
"I am well aware, Glynda, and I'm currently performing preparations to deal with it," Ozpin responds calmly.
"What preparations? All you're doing is strapping on armor!" Glynda says, irritated.
"Exactly, Glynda, I'm doing this because the person I'm contacting for help will more than likely threaten my life," Ozpin responds, sipping on his mug.
"Who could you possibly be contacting?" Glynda asks, her glare changing to a confused expression.
"HER," Ozpin says, a blank look on his face.
"Who?" Glynda asks, not understanding.
"ME," a voice says behind the two.
"She's here," Ozpin says in a terrified tone.
Glynda has no words sensing an aura of pure killing intent.
The two turn and are terrified, seeing Mystake in her Oni form.
Her Oni form was unnaturally tall, standing at 14ft, her arms nearly as long as her body and being almost skeletal, her hands having long and boney fingers with sharp claws. Her face had strangely shaped fangs striking out of her mouth and two massive horns extending from her forehead, each horn easily 2ft long.
"Now, Ozpin, care to explain why my student is severely injured?" Mystake asks in a terrifyingly calm voice.
"U-um we-w-well you see-," Before Ozpin could fully respond, Mystake lands a heavy punch on Ozpin's stomach knocking out the Headmaster in one shot.
"I know you tried to help, so I shall give you mercy," Mystake told the still petrified Glynda.
Glynda can only nod in fear.
"Now tell me where I can find Jaune?" Mystake asks calmly.
Glynda wordlessly gives Mystake a map with the infirmary marked.
"Thank you," Mystake says. A dark fog envelopes her as she shifts into her human form before heading toward her student.
Authors Note:
Fuck is this chapter long.
Sorry, it took so long. I just wanted to get both Jaundice and Forever Fall over with. On the bright side were one step closer to a (non-canon) Day of The Departed Halloween Special.
As usual, review if you feel like it since the next chapter will be when Jaune reveals a few secrets.
