Jade: Wi-Fi in the Sky
The day had just begun and Jade was already annoyed by it. It was Saturday and normally she would be in a good mood, especially seeing that Tori Vega was out of town for the weekend, but it still wasn't going to be a good day. Two weeks ago her father had told her that he wanted to marry his secretary and today they would hold their engagement party. Her father had insisted that Jade and her brother came to it and not wanting to leave her brother alone in this awful situation she had agreed to come. Thankfully she could spend most of the day in peace writing on her new script, but the time for dinner came closer.
Beck had offered to come with her, but she had declined. The last thing she wanted was that Beck witnessed how bad her relationship with her father was. Sure, he probably already knew from her stories about her father, but he didn't have to see it as well. On top of that she would be in a bad mood for the whole weekend because of the engagement and so it was more likely that her and Beck would fight over the most ridiculous things, so to sum it up it was better when her boyfriend was not around for the weekend.
Her brother and her were staying at their father's house for the weekend and that the only good thing Jade could find about it was that here she had a huge bathroom should say at lot. The dinner was about to start in an hour when Jade decided to take a small peek at the arrangements that had been made in her father's garden. The only thing that she thought when she saw the expensive and overly pink and white decorations was that this was absolutely awful. She snapped a quick picture of it and posted it on The Slap, under it she wrote 'How I never want my engagement party to look like'.
When it was time for the first guests to arrive Jade looked into the mirror on last time. Her father wanted her to wear a white dress and of course get rid of her piercings and dark make-up. Jade, being who she was, had of course done the exact opposite, she wore a black dress and had made sure to put a lot of black eye shadow on with her piercings still were they belonged, in her face. A knock on the door interrupted her thoughts and the reason she was even here entered the room.
"I see you're ready to play happy family."
"As if I would ever do that." Jade greeted her brother.
"Believe me I don't want to either, but he is our father and it would be wrong not to come. I know you're only here because of me so thanks."
"You're just too nice to our father, he doesn't deserve a son like you. Now come on, I have to make this dinner as awkward for our dear father as I can."
Her brother only laughed at that and hold his arm out for her, which she took with an eye-roll.
Needless to say when the dinner was finished Jade was even more annoyed than before the whole thing. When she finally got back to her room she was exhausted from all the fake smiles people had sent her way, while surely talking behind her back about that awful West girl. Sighing she pulled her phone out and checked her The Slap page and immediately her mood changed. There was a comment under the photo that she had posted a few hours ago that made her heart beat faster and a blush cover her face. Beck had posted under her 'How I never want my engagement party to look like' a comment of his own. There stood 'Noted and memorized for later'. The implication was clear and he had posted it for everyone to see and she couldn't be happier about it. It wasn't a proposal, but it was a clear sign that he wanted to have a future with her. She sent a quick text with only the words 'I love you' to him and didn't really think he would write back, seeing that it was already late and he probably knew she would be exhausted, but a second later her phone beeped and signalized her that she had a new text.
'I love you too.' That were definitely the best and honest words she had heard all evening and even thought the dinner had been awful she fell asleep with a smile on her face.
The next day after having lunch with her brother, father and his secretary, not her decision, the siblings were finally able to go back home. Jade sighed in relieve when their mom welcomed them back and the three ate dinner together. Later she went up to her room, exhausted and still a little annoyed about how she had to spend her weekend. However when she saw that Beck was online she requested a video chat, glad that she would be able to see her boyfriend this weekend, even if it was only over video chat. As if her weekend hadn't been awful enough so far the video chat turned out differently than she had thought and so she made her way to Beck's RV to see what was going on.
Beck: Wi-Fi in the Sky
In retrospect Beck thought that maybe he should have told Jade that the cheerleader they were talking about was only nine, but having her by his side, even when they were arguing now, was worth it. He hadn't seen her the whole weekend and he had missed her. The moment she had walked in, he had seen that she was exhausted and he could imagine that she was annoyed not only because of the situation with the cheerleader but also in general with her father's engagement party the day before. While she was in the middle of telling him that he was making her jealous on purpose he just kissed her and successfully stop their argumentation for a few seconds. When he pulled away after a few seconds he saw that she relax a little, so he knew she would let him explain now.
"I didn't want to make you jealous." He lay an arm around her and pulled her so close that she was almost in his lap. "Stay with me tonight?"
Beck was glad when she seemed to drop the matter for now and kissed him softly, telling him she would stay over. He tried to get her to tell him about her weekend, but she only told him how annoying these fake smiles and fake happy people had been. Of course there was more to it, Beck knew, but if she didn't want to talk about it he wouldn't force her to. During the time he had already dated Jade he had learned that she wasn't very open when it came to feelings which she considered vulnerable. Sure, she displayed her anger openly for everyone to see, but with the feelings that were showing that she was sensible she was rarely so open.
After a while Jade got up and to his surprise told him to get back to video chatting with Tori because she didn't want him to fail his project.
"Thanks babe, I promise it won't take long." He smiled at her and pulled her back for a small kiss before she walked over to his closet to search for one of his shirts to sleep in.
When Tori appeared on the screen she looked disheveled and when he asked her what happened she only told him that Trina and Perez Hilton got into a fight. Beck didn't ask more about it, remembering that he had promised Jade that he wouldn't take so long. They were in the middle of writing down another scene when Jade came over to him in one of his shirts and with her face clear of any make up. Tori looked surprised, but didn't say anything when Jade leaned her head against Beck's shoulder, her eyes on her phone. His girlfriend helped them out a little when they were stuck, before she told him she would lay down and he better come to bed soon as well. Beck smiled at her and gave her a short kiss before turning back to Tori and their script.
It was another half an hour later when Beck heard slight whimpering from his bed and excused himself to check on Jade. She was still asleep, but she was frowning in her sleep. He had been right with his assumption that the weekend had bothered Jade more than she had let on. Watching her parents getting a divorce had been hard for her and now seeing her father remarry surely was as well. He wouldn't wake her up, but he wanted to hold her and maybe she would relax at that. Quickly he walked back to his couch and picked up his laptop.
"Look Tori, I really need to get some sleep. We were almost done with the script anyway, right?"
Tori looked a little confused at this sudden change, but told him that she would be alright to write the last page alone. He smiled thankfully at her and after saying that he would see her tomorrow closed the laptop. When he had changed, he lay down next to his girlfriend and pulled her closer to himself so she was laying on his chest. Jade was a heavy sleeper so she didn't wake up, but she instinctively moved a little so she lay comfortable. Beck stroked her back softly and felt her starting to relax under his touch. It hadn't been an easy weekend for her, even if she would never admit it. Seeing her parents, who once loved each other so much, separate and then seeing a new woman on her father's side must be hard. Beck didn't even want to imagine how that must feel like. When he would marry it would be forever and he held the woman that he wanted that with already in his arms. Kissing Jade's hair softly he closed his eyes and fell asleep with a small smile on his face.
