"The Leap"
The island for the moment was safe. Hunter's grave was surrounded by the Chaos-morphs. Yasmina, Sammy, Ben, Elisa, and Noah were inside Mae's cave thinking of a way to protect the dinosaurs.
"Hm. We could make disguises for all the dinosaurs." Ben said.
"If Hunter were alive he be like "Oh that's your genius plan? And I thought my jokes were bad" and he maybe add a think dude." Noah said.
Yaz and Sammy were getting mugs for everyone. "Uh-oh. Ben and Noah have their serious thinking faces on." Yaz said.
Elisa returned "The Chaos-morphs continue their daily watch of the island. The queen has taken Hunter's grave as her throne." Elisa said.
The girls sat down "So, what were you thinking about?" Yaz asked.
"We might have destroyed Kenji's way to make dino control chips, but he and his dad are always one step ahead of us. We need a way to protect them from whatever he's got up his sleeve." Noah said.
"But, apparently, disguises are off the table." Ben said.
"Can't imagine why." Yaz said.
"This is so nice. All of us warm and cozy, sharing a cup of cocoa together." Sammy said.
The other smiled at each other. "Too bad we can't do this for the dinos. It'd be a lot easier to keep 'em safe if they were all snuggled in one place." Sammy said.
"I bet Shadow would like that." Yaz said.
"Wait a minute." Elisa said.
The five went to the waterfall "Back on Isla Nublar there was a place where Broken Jaws and the other dinosaurs got together." Elisa said.
"The watering hole!" Sammy said.
"Great!" Noah said.
"That's a great idea, Elisa." Sammy said.
"Is there enough water, though?" Yaz asked.
"Okay, that's a problem." Noah said.
"What if we fill buckets with water?" Sammy asked.
"Maybe we can bring in the predators in with food?" Elisa asked.
"One word, "disguises." Ben said.
Noah spotted something beneath some rocks. "A drain." Sammy said.
"If we can plug it up, this whole area will fill up with water." Elisa said.
"Hello, watering hole." Yaz said.
She gave Ben a bump on his arm which seemed to hurt a bit.
"We should net celebrate yet. First part is making sure it works." Noah said.
"We need to act fast, considering Kenji will return." Elisa said.
"So water and dinosaurs on the list, yeah?" Noah asked.
"Well, I got that second one covered. Firecracker's my girl, and I can grab Pierce too." Ben said.
"I'll come. We can swing by the Arctic and get Angel and Rebel while we're at it." Yaz said.
"Good. Then Elisa, Sammy, and I will plug the drain." Noah said.
"Is that cool?" Noah asked Sammy.
"Of course. I'm just honored to help you wonderful." Sammy said.
"Sammy." Yaz called out.
Yaz had her hand near her head "I'll miss you." Yaz said, reaching her arm out.
"Oh. Not if I miss you first." Sammy said.
She made the same moves as Yaz. The two groups leave Yaz felt something in her heart.
Sammy was now covered in dirt and grabbed enough logs to cover the drain. Big Eatie and Little Eatie came by. The three kids took cover "Oh, great." Noah said.
"Just what we need, hungry dinosaurs." Elisa said.
"Not hungry. Look." Noah said.
The mother and daughter were playing "They're not playing. Which means they're not going anywhere anytime soon." Noah said.
Noah got up "What are you doin'?" Sammy asked.
"We can't finish the drain with them around, so I'm gonna distract them." Noah said.
"How, exactly?" Elisa asked.
"They want to play, right? so, I'll give 'em something to play with." Noah said.
Noah started waving his hands out and tried to get the two . "Guessing Hunter still lives a bit through him and thinks he can do all this by himself." Elisa said.
"I'll help him." Elisa said.
"Wait. Maybe I should go. You're way better at flying solo." Sammy said.
Elisa saw the mud all around Sammy. She didn't want it to get on her. "No." Elisa said.
"I mean you've got this." Elisa said.
"Are you just afraid to getting dirty?" Sammy asked.
"I believe in you. Team Sammy!" Elisa cheered as she leaves.
"But what if I need help?" Sammy asked.
"Come on! Over here!" Noah tried calling out.
Chomper arrived as he was drawn by Little Eatie's roars. He approached her slowly knowing that Big Eatie is stronger than him. Elisa whistle at them. This was loud enough to catch the attentions however Chomper leaves as he was bored.
Now Sammy had the chance to work alone. "No problem. Just finish plugging up the drain." Sammy said.
The logs weren't holding up well "By yourself." Sammy said.
Yaz and Ben got Angel and Rebel into the jungle biome. "They'll be okay out of the cold, right?" Ben asked.
"It's all good. Last time they were fine for a few days before needing an Arctic recharge." Yaz said.
Angel and Rebel soon ran away into bushes. "We just gotta keep up with them that long." Yaz said.
The two teens found what the two babies were running for. It was Pierce. Pierce moans affectionately the two baby hybrids were now safe by an adult figure. "Well, that was easy." Ben said.
"All we need now is Firecracker." Yaz said.
"Leaf" that to me." Ben said.
Yaz wasn't amused "Cause I'm gonna lure her out with leaves." Ben said.
"Yeah, Ben, I get it." Yaz said.
The two started looking around the place "Firecracker! Hey, FC! Where are you, girl?" Ben called out to Firecracker.
Soon Firecracker appeared and pushed Ben to the ground "See? What'd I tell you?" Ben said, about his skills to find his dinosaur.
"Okay, crew! Follow me!" Yaz called out to the hybrids.
They followed her "Yummy, huh?" Yaz asked.
Firecracker felt nervous "Come on. Let's go." Ben said.
Pierce followed them but now Firecracker was way in the back. Angel likes to push her younger brother. Yaz and Ben noticed Firecracker's mood "Firecracker's usually so outgoing, but she's kinda keeping to herself." Yaz said.
"I get it. This is the biggest group she's ever been around. It always takes me a while to warm up to large groups too. Remember how I was when we first got to Camp Cretaceous?" Ben asked.
Yaz giggles "How we both were?" she asked.
"I guess it's a good thing I had Bumpy and you had Sammy, huh?" Ben asked.
"Yep. Our best friends." Yaz said.
Soon the baby raptor that was has Yaz and Sammy's colors joined in the group. His parents weren't far behind but he likes to explore. Yaz, Ben, Angel, Rebel, Firecracker, and Pierce noticed him. "But have you ever thought that maybe you wanted to be more than best friends?" Yaz asked Ben.
"Uh, Yaz? Bumpy's a dinosaur. I just don't think it would work." Ben said.
"Oh, right. Right, right, right. Of course." Yaz said.
She walked a few feet from Ben before he quickly realized something. "Oh! You're talking about Sammy!" Ben said.
Angel and Rebel soon tried to see who would get the most berries. The baby raptor tried to join in but because he's smaller than them he has a disadvantage. "I Just... "I've had crushes on boys before so I know what that's like. But I think I might feel that way about Sammy." Yaz said.
Ben could only smile for Yaz. She didn't know what she was feeling "So..." Yaz said.
"So?" Ben asked.
"So I don't know what to think. And this is the first time I said this out loud because there's no one I can talk to about it, because normally, I'd go to Sammy, but I can't, because, duh, this is about her and..." Yaz voiced her thoughts about her crush.
She sat down "Feelings, am I right?" Ben asked.
"Yes. Why do they have to be so complicated?" Yaz asked.
Angel came up to her "Looks like Angel agrees too." Ben said.
Angel rejoined her brother Yaz and Sammy didn't noticed the baby raptor had jumped onto Rebel's face but they did noticed something odd. "Where's Firecracker?" Yaz asked.
They opened a door into the swamp biome "Firecracker!" Ben called out.
She ran right behind them and into the door "Ben, behind you!" Yaz said.
Firecracker ran into the swamp biome "FC!" Ben called out.
Elisa and Noah were still running for their lives "It's working!" Noah said.
"A little too good." Elisa said.
The two kids ran up to a watchpoint they were safe from the but now they waited for the kids to come down "Well, the good news is we got them away from the watering hole." Noah said.
"Bad news is we're trapped." Elisa said.
At the watering hole Sammy finished "That should do it. No water's getting through you, drain." Sammy said.
She noticed it wasn't enough "Come one. Fill up faster." Sammy said.
"Stoppin' the water from drainin' isn't enough." she said.
She looked at the waterfall "But if I can add more water from up there, maybe it will be." Sammy said.
She climbed a large tree that has fallen onto the cliffs "All right, tree, we got this." Sammy said.
She began slowly crawling on it "It's just you and me." Sammy said.
She heard the tree rattling with no choice she jumped onto the cliff she was barely hanging on. The Chaos-morphs were drawn to the tree and began tearing it apart for their on amusement.
Sammy continued onward.
In the swamp biome Yaz and Ben were looking for Firecracker but Yaz had her eyes down. "So, you're either searching the ground for baby brachi footprints or you still got a lot on your mind." Ben said.
"Both, I guess. But mostly the second thing." Yaz said.
"Well, if you could talk to Sammy about it, what would you say?" Ben asked.
Yaz didn't know what to say. "Here, I'll help." Ben said.
"Yaz, darlin', I'm fixin' to talk through this, 'cause talking's my thing." Ben tried to mimic Sammy.
Yaz laughs "That sounds nothing like Sammy." Yaz said.
"Yeah, it sounded a lot better in my head." Ben said.
"When I think about me with Sammy, it feels awesome. And exciting, and scary, and overwhelming, and... Did I mention "awesome"? But I don't know what it says about me. And how am I supposed to figure it out?" Yaz asked.
The two heard some chirping the baby raptor heard the same thing "Something's wrong." Yaz said.
Firecracker was running she got behind Yaz and Ben. The baby raptor saw there are Dilophosaurus "Go!" Yaz said.
The four ran the baby called for help. His parents were nearby.
Sammy made it to the top. She checked her surrounding and saw a hatch. She opens it and it had the tunnel smell "There's gotta be something down here that controls all the water." Sammy said.
She took a deep breath and went back into the tunnels. She heard some pipes filled with water and saw a nozzle. "Aha! Watering Hole, here we come." Sammy said.
Elisa and Noah were really not doing any better Big Eatie and Little Eatie still waited for their prey "They're not going to leave as long as they know we're up here." Elisa said.
"We're basically chew toys to them." Elisa said.
"We got more to worry about." Noah said.
Pteranodons were flying around "What are they gonna do it they see us?" Elisa asked.
"Or maybe we want them to." Noah said.
Elisa knew what he meant.
Yaz and Ben were running with Firecracker the Dilophosauruses were right on their tail. Firecracker made it through a tangle of tree vines Yaz and Ben helped push her through. The baby's raptor made it through with them but his parents came to the rescue buying the others time to escape.
Sammy was trying to get more water to come through the pipes she heard a buzzing sound she saw one BRAD-X was still online "I thought Elisa turned them all off?" Sammy said to herself.
The bot was scanning the area Sammy heard it was only a matter of time.
Noah and Elisa threw pimp cones at the Pteranodons. One of them attempted to attack the two but the were not ready to have their prey taken from them. Noah and Elisa escaped.
Yaz and Ben still got their dinosaurs moving Firecracker was still behind "All right, come on, Firecracker. You know Angel and Rebel. You don't have to be shy. Come on." Yaz said to Firecracker.
Firecracker whines "Oh, come on, really?" Yaz whispers to herself.
She threw some more berries to Firecracker "Yummy." Yaz said.
She fake munching "Come on." Yaz said.
Firecracker was now focused on Yaz "That's it. That a girl." Yaz said.
"So, what do you think you'll do about, you know everything?" Ben asked.
"Do? I'm not gonna do anything. I'm just gonna press pause on all there feelings till we make it off the island. Seems like the more I try to figure out myself, the more questions I have." Yaz said.
"Or maybe answering those questions doesn't matter for now." Ben said.
"Maybe what matters most is how you feel. And whatever those feelings are about yourself, or Sammy, or anyone else, no matter how complicated, it's okay to let yourself feel 'em." Ben said.
Yaz smiles.
In the tunnels the BRAD-X was still scanning Sammy threw something to get the robot's attention. The clink moved away for a couple of seconds. Sammy grabbed the nozzle and turned it, allowing more water to flow "Whoo!" Sammy cheered.
The BRAD-X spotted her "Unauthorized life form detected." it said.
"Yeah, I know." Sammy said, annoyed.
It fired at her and a Chaos-morph soldier appeared and tried to tear it apart. Sammy escaped and returned to the hatch and she was tired. "Please tell me the watering hole filled up, because I am not going back down there." Sammy said.
A trio of Pteranodons spotted her "Really?" Sammy asked.
She ran towards the end of the fall "Please be deep enough. Please be deep enough!" Sammy hoped it was safe.
She jumped and the Pteranodons gave up pursuing her. Sammy saw she filled up the Watering Hole.
Yaz and Ben returned and they were tired of today. They saw how the watering hole was filled and Sammy was sitting right next to it. "Hey, y'all!" Sammy said to them.
"Sammy, this is amazing!" Yaz said.
"Turns out Team Sammy was enough to get the job done." Sammy said.
Angel came charging at her and got on her side Sammy was chuckling. Yaz kneed down "You did all this yourself?" Yaz asked.
"Sure did." Sammy said.
She saw Elisa and Noah "You guys made it." Sammy said.
"I think I dropped a lung." Noah said.
Elisa fell to the ground "Okay I think I prefer mud than getting chased by a ." Elisa said.
As if she jinxed it Big Eatie roared "Are you kidding me!?" Elisa asked.
The two appeared and the herbivores and kids were a little nervous. They charged at the herbivores however Little Eatie stepped in water and she didn't want to fight instead she took a drink. Her mother followed in doing the same. Seeing that they were in no danger Pierce joined in. The babies joined them "Let's go, y'all." Sammy said.
Firecracker joined her friends "I think I finally understand Firecracker. She just needed to do things at her own pace. On her own terms." Yaz smiles.
"And what about you?" Ben asked.
"You're right, I don't have to have it all figured out right now. I can take my time. Just like firecracker." Yaz said.
Firecracker licked Sammy.
"Ah, sounds like a pretty good plan. And no matter what, you know we're all here for you. Including Sammy." Ben said.
"Especially Sammy!" Ben tried to mimic Sammy again.
The two laughed, "We gotta work on that, Ben." Yaz said.
The two fist bumps. The sun was going to set soon. Yaz and Sammy looked at the beauty of the sun. "Nice job, Sammy. The dinosaurs needed a place to chill, and we did too." Noah said.
"I knew she could do. The higher power chose her to have skills." Elisa said.
"Yeah, she does!" Ben said.
Yaz gave her a nudge.
"Did you indirectly say god?" Noah asked Elisa.
The two laughed "Not everything we told you Yaz was a lie." Elisa said.
Noah looked at the cliffs seeing it was a long way down. Elisa got him into a headlock and threw him into the water. Ben gave a thumbs up to Yaz and jumped.
Yaz looked for a second at the girl she loves. "Wanna go together?" Yaz asked.
Sammy smiles. The two locked hands together. Yaz felt so much happiness she truly wanted to be with someone she loves so much and the two jumped.
This was outright one of my three favorite episodes of the show. I loved the arc it set I am angry that the next episode really focused on Kenji instead. The next episode will not go to Isla Nublar instead it will focus on both Shadow and the baby raptor.
