"Shadow and Yardle"
With the Watering Hole made the kids now relaxed Yaz and Sammy swim together. Yaz and Sammy got out and sat down on a rock. Something else made Yaz felt sadden. Sammy noticed this "Yaz?" Sammy asked.
"Yeah?" Yaz asked.
"Is something bothering you?" Sammy asked.
"I kinda miss Shadow." Yaz said.
"You know Shadow is the best raptor we've ever know." Sammy said.
"Yeah but I do wonder what he's doing right now." Yaz said.
A few days ago once the earthquakes began Shadow felt uneasy but only a few hours later the earthquakes stopped. Shadow left Mae's cave and returned to where he helped Yasmina and Sammy from the other raptors. Shadow walked around but found no sign of a trace. He did find a shoeprint of Sammy he sniffed it but the scent was gone.
Shadow saw as the Chaos-morphs were gaining more control of the island. The Therizinosauruses and Pachyrhinosauruses were being moved to a different biome. Shadow saw these creatures were very different. A duo of soldiers appeared and saw Shadow. Soldiers look like a standard Chaos-morph however they have ridged heads and have a toe claws like raptors.
The soldiers looked at Shadow he growled, thinking they would attack him. However they didn't as Hunter's memories had good time with Shadow. The two left Shadow soon thought about getting something to eat or drink. Shadow found a small paddle of water left behind by the soldiers. Shadow took a small drink.
The next day Shadow was sleeping in the jungle biome. Shadow's nap was excellent he dreamt of fighting the Spinosaurus with the aide of Big Eatie, Little Eatie, and Chomper. It was a good dream for the raptor.
Shadow woke up he smelled Yaz and followed the scent. He saw Pierce, Angel, and Rebel hanging out. Shadow smelled the ground and saw Yaz's shoeprint and knows he's close.
The door to the swamp biome was left open. Shadow entered the biome the bad part is that most of the fog causes him to lose track of Yaz's footprint. Shadow heard Dilophosaurus cries. He traveled over there he got there but it was too late. Yaz, Ben, and Firecracker were nowhere to be seen.
Shadow stood on some of the vines and saw the raptor family fighting the Dilophosaurus they were outnumbered. The father raptor was quickly killed because the Dilophosaurus spit and claw slashes weaken him. He fell down. The baby stood behind his mother's leg she screeched at them hoping it would scare them away.
Three Dilophosauues spit at her eyes causing blindness and confusion. Two of them charged at her one bite her neck and the other kept biting the back. With a combination of bloodless and confusion the mother falls to the ground.
The pack continue to feast on the father. The baby nudged his mother, hoping she's okay but nothing. One Dilophosaurus noticed the baby. The baby ran into cover. The pack chased him down. The baby hid in the bottom of a tree. He tried to get back as far as he can but the Dilophosauruses were bigger and were able to get their heads through.
Shadow watched enough he figured the Dilophosauruses attacked Yaz so he attacks them. He slashes two of them with his claws. One pack member attempted to spit at him but Shadow quickly moves out of the way and another pack member gets hit.
Shadow saw the alpha was a pink female one. Shadow fight her he leaves a slash across her right eye. Now frighten by the raptor the alpha orders her pack to flee. Shadow now lost Yaz's scent. He leaves the area knowing he'll have little luck here.
The baby raptor peeked out to see both his parents are dead as the Dilophosauruses eat them he saw Shadow leaving and had two choices: live on his own or join Shadow.
The baby ran right behind Shadow. Shadow was very unhappy that Yaz has disappeared. The baby attempted to play with Shadow but the older raptor didn't want too. He continue on the baby stopped for a second thinking but still followed.
It was nighttime Shadow was trying to sleep the baby couldn't sleep. He was just a bit energetic. He nudged Shadow's head but Shadow screeched at him to leave. The baby moved a couple of feet from Shadow. He lay down and slept.
The next morning Shadow and the baby were walking. The baby didn't attempt to play with Shadow he figured Shadow didn't like fun. The two found meat that the Pyroraptors left behind. The pack had barely left any meat, only one medium meat and a very tiny piece with a bone.
Shadow started to eat the medium meat the baby was now just sad he slowly chose to eat some of the meat. Shadow looked at him. He felt bad for pushing the baby away so he decided to give the baby the bigger meat. The baby happily accepts it trying to chew most of the good pieces. Shadow chew the small bone.
Shadow and the baby walked. Shadow felt something like adopting the baby as his son but now he was just unsure.
Shadow and the baby were thirsty so they decided to find some water.
Yaz and Sammy were walking together "You know what? It doesn't feel the same without Shadow." Sammy said.
"I know right? He's help change me." Yaz said.
"Also how were the nightmares?" Sammy asked.
"I haven't had any nightmares in a while, mainly just being with you and Shadow just makes me feel safe." Sammy said.
Sammy grabbed her hand and locked it. Yaz smiled, "You're always a winner still, Yaz." Sammy said.
The baby appeared in front of them. "Oh, hey little guy." Sammy said.
The two kneed down "Hey, look he's got our colors." Yaz said.
The baby tried to bite their fingers for fun but he was called back. Shadow appeared and he was glad to be reunited with Yaz.
"Oh, Shadow, it's good to see you." Yaz said.
Shadow nuzzles Yaz. The baby decided to mimic Shadow so he nuzzled Sammy's leg.
"Oh, so cute. I'm going to name you Yardle." Sammy said.
She grabbed Yardle and lifted him; he didn't mind it.
The girls and raptors arrived at the watering hole. Yardle quickly drinks and he remembers the other babies and try to play with them. Shadow sat down and Yaz joined him.
"It's been crazy since you've left. I have a crush on Sammy. Can't you believe it? I have a crush on my best friend. I just don't know how to feel like should I tell her I like her or just leave it at that?" Yaz asked.
Shadow thought about what she said. He felt uneasy about becoming a father; he feels Yaz encouraged him to become one. Shadow got up and went over to Yardle who wasn't accepted by the other babies mainly because they couldn't see him.
Shadow approached Yardle and decided to adopt him. Yaz smiles as Shadow accepts his feelings and now maybe she should do hers.
I'm gonna say I loved writing this episode. It was a fun story it had more Walking with Dinosaurs vibes to it. Also the idea of dinosaurs adopting other dinosaurs was inspired by Jurassic Park the Game where a female Triceratops did the same.
