Chapter 4

1987

MID-DAY

It was a busy day today, Fredbear mused as he stood in the arcade area watching over the children as they played. The golden bear sighs as he leans on the wall to get a moment of peace, his eyes moving around the building he has been in for the past 4 years since the bite incident in his old home location.

A lot had changed, the new place was bigger, with more areas to patrol. He looks over at the stage where Freddy and the gang, Bonnie and Chica were performing or rather the Toy versions of his friends.

The first few weeks at the new location were rough on everyone, a big building and management decided to put them through upgrades. Fredbear remembers being stripped down to his endoskeleton, which left him feeling very naked mind you, where anything old was replaced like rusting metal or systems being upgraded for new ones. Fredbear reached up and rubbed his head, he and Spring Bonnie had got the facial recognition system installed and it had been a headache for a while until their systems settled down.

After that their skeletons were covered in a brand new suit design, a bit sleeker, on their limbs and Fredbear's head wasn't as big as it was before. They still kept their four fingers and thumbs since some employees said they didn't look the same without them, their suits were still golden and yellow but made of a flexible plastic now. Fredbear was just glad he didn't have to have those red cheeks like the Toy animatronics now that would be embarrassing for the older male spirits.

Sadly, their friends got put into parts and service, parents and children started to find them...scary. So the Toy animatronics were made, Spring Bonnie nearly blew a fuse in silent anger when he learned they used some parts of their friends for the toy bots. Like an internal component from Bonnie's chest that was placed inside Toy Bonnie to fix a broken circuit, Toy Freddy had something of Freddy inside him but Fredbear never found out what it was. A joint was used from Chica's jaw to fix Toy Chica's mouth but it ended up messing with her beak.

Toy Foxy or Mangle didn't have anything from Foxy considering the white and pink fox was reduced to a take apart and put back together attraction for the kids, the employees had long ago given up trying to fix them or find their missing parts. The brothers tried when they could but didn't succeed much, Mangle was still grateful that they tried.

Since then, the originals, or 'withered bots' as one employee nicknamed them, stayed in parts and service. Fredbear and Spring Bonnie would visit and fix what they can they would stay in parts and service on Sunday nights to keep them company.

The strangest thing was though with the Toys was that they acted alive at times but other times they didn't, Toy Bonnie would act all bubbly and energetic if a bit cocky around the kids but as soon as Spring Bonnie appeared he would get distracted and a bit clumsy. Fredbear had noticed when he was around Toy Freddy the bear would seem...shy almost, while Toy Chica acted a bit more subdued and calm.

'They never acted like this until after their parts were replaced by the OG's parts, I wonder if something carried over?' Fredbear thought it would make sense considering those parts would carry some of the kid's emotions and energy imprinted on them.

Fredbear shook his head, these were thoughts for another time. A sneeze nearby made him look up to see the security guard cleaning his nose, he looked tired and sick.

Right, the night guards, an...incident happened last summer. William the son of a bitch snuck back and took a child and killed the kid outback. Thankfully their souls moved on, but the place was put under investigation again.

Ever since then the Toys glitched out at night and it made the old gang angrier, so they started attacking and trying to kill the nightguards. Knowing they could only do so much to stop this the two oldest spirits put down strict rules to try and lessen the damage.

They could only attack at night, if the guards survived their shift they lived and if they survived 5-6 nights then the animatronics would stop attacking them since they proved themselves. The rules worked and since then only 3 guards have died by 'accidents'.

"Fredbear! There you are," Spring Bonnie said snapping the golden bear out of his internal thoughts and memory lane.

"Hey Springs," Fredbear said looking at his brother who smiled.

"You looked deep in thought, something on your mind?" Spring Bonnie asked tilting his head as Fredbear pushed off the wall and the two began to walk.

"You could say that, I was just thinking of the past," Fredbear said as they enter the main hallway before passing parts and service.

"Ah, it has been a while, hasn't it?" Spring Bonnie said reaching up and rubbing his neck.

"We're technically 22 now," Fredbear said nudging Spring Bonnie who chuckled.

"Jeremy and Susie would be 13, Fritz, and Gabrial would be 12, Chris would be 11," Spring Bonnie said.

"I don't think Marion ever told us her age, I'm not even sure we can get an answer from Cassidy, she's one angry spirit," Fredbear said as they arrived at the security office.

"I'd say she's around Fritz and Gabrial's age, hm...Scotty would be 15 now," Spring Bonnie said his mood turning somber as he remembers their little nephew.

"Yeah, I hope he's living his life to the fullest," Fredbear said as he leans against the security desk.

"Anything planned for later?" Spring Bonnie asked deciding to change the topic to lighten the mood.

"Hm, I think I've got a party later," Fredbear said.

"Isn't it that party with the little girl who always hangs off your leg whenever she can?" Spring Bonnie chuckled remembering the little girl.

"Ah, she does, I wonder why?" Fredbear said rubbing the back of his head, the girl's mother always looked amused by this.

"Fredbear! Spring Bonnie!" The voice of the manager said making them turn to see Derek walking over with a young man.

The young man had soft brown hair, blue eyes, and was lean with a height of 5'7", he had on the indigo security uniform making Fredbear tense up and glance at his brother who gave a small sigh as they turn to fully face the two humans.

"Greetings Derek, who is this?" Fredbear said as the two stopped before them.

"This is Jeremy he applied for the security shift, he'll be starting his job later tonight," Derek said patting Jeremy's shoulder.

"H-Hi, um, nice to meet you both," Jeremy said with a nervous smile.

"Hello Jeremy, I look forward to working with you later," Fredbear said holding out his hand to Jeremy.

Jeremy nods as he reached up and accepted the handshake as Spring Bonnie crossed his arms.

"Fredbear and Spring Bonnie here will be assisting you with the night shift, they have some special functions which will be explained later," Derek said as Fredbear pulls back and checks the time.

"Excuse me, I need to go and prepare for a birthday party later," Fredbear said before leaving.

"Hey, Derek? Is my DJ set up fixed yet," Spring Bonnie asked with times moving on Spring Bonnie had been programmed to play as a DJ and music mixer, Fredbear was still the singer but given some more dance moves.

"It will be fixed by tomorrow," Derek said making Spring Bonnie nod and look at the security desk.

"I'll leave you guys to it, catch ya later Jeremy," Spring Bonnie said giving Jeremy a smirk before leaving the office.

Once he was in the main hallway and out of sight did his smile dropped, he glanced over at the parts and service room door.

"Tonight it starts again," Spring Bonnie mutters before making his way to the main show stage area.

He arrived to see Fredbear carrying a kid around who looked to have been recently crying, his mother was chatting to Fredbear and ranting about something which had Fredbear looking very amused.

Getting closer Spring Bonnie recognized as a regular, Miss. Linda Joseph and her son Brandon, Linda lost her husband 2 years ago to cancer, she was pretty with shoulder soft brown hair in a bun with lightly tanned skin and blue eyes. She had on a button-up white shirt with brown pants and black shoes, she often came here since 11-year-old Brandon had a liking for Fredbear.

Fredbear often took on a fatherly role with the kids to keep them out of trouble, Spring Bonnie was the funny uncle but he did have his own fatherly moments and kids to look after.

"Hey, Linda, busy day again?" Spring Bonnie asked as he walked over.

"Hey Springs, yeah, a customer at work was being a pain in my butt, like the entitled kind of customer," Linda said with a sigh, she worked at a fancy restaurant as a cook.

"Oh, we had one of those a few days ago, she caused a big scene when her son didn't win the ticket to sing with the Toys on stage," Spring Bonnie said with a chuckle, the woman had to be escorted out by Fredbear and security.

"My sympathies, so any juicy news lately?" Linda asked always one for a bit of gossip.

"Well, we're getting a new security guard, he'll be doing his first shift tonight," Spring Bonnie said while glancing over at the prize corner where the Marionette was giving out gifts.

She paused and glanced over at him, he gave a small nod making her nod back showing she heard him before returning to her gifts. Marion only attacked the guards if her music box stopped playing, she would give them a quick death, she was the most merciful one to the guards.

"I wish him luck, if being in a school during the dark is creepy then this place must be...strange?" Linda said trying not to sound offensive to their home.

"Don't worry, it does get a bit creepy but we're used to it," Fredbear said with a chuckle.

"Springy! Springy!" A little voice said making Spring Bonnie look down as something pats his leg.

There was a little girl with dirty blonde hair in pigtails, peachy-pink skin, and forest green eyes. She had on a cute white and blue dress. This was Sally, 5-years-old, she was adorable and her favorite animatronic was Spring Bonnie. He chuckles excusing himself as he crouched down to look at Sally.

"What's up Sally?" Spring Bonnie asked as Sally smiled.

"I made you something! My mommy helped me make it," Sally said as she grabs Spring Bonnie's hand and pulls him.

He chuckled and stood up but hunched over as Sally pulls him over to the area where the crafting normally took place, Sally lets go of his hand letting him kneel down watching as Sally looked through her bag and pulled something out, and ran back over to him.

"Here! For you," Sally said holding up a bunny doll.

It was a cute, patch-work style with different colored fabrics in bright colors, two black eyes with a little black nose. It was based on the Fazbear plushies but thinner, one of the ears was floppy and one arm was a bit bigger than the other but it was touching, Spring Bonnie mostly got drawing or silly little craft items from the kids but this was different.

He gently took the doll and looked it over, he smiled feeling very happy, this was a thoughtful gift one to be cherished.

"Thank you, Sally, this is amazing," Spring Bonnie said looking at Sally who grins moving forward and hugged his chest, he hugged back before releasing her and standing up.

"Wanna see a magic trick?" Spring Bonnie asked making Sally nod.

He reached up and opened up a small hatch in his side, he carefully pushed the doll inside to an empty space in his suit, leftover from his spring lock days, he pulled his hand back and closed the hatch.

"Ta-da!" Spring Bonnie said making Sally giggle and clap.

"Yay! More tricks!" Sally said as Spring Bonnie chuckled.

The rest of the day was spent entertaining the kids, Fredbear would later be seen with a child clinging to his leg to everyone's amusement.

11:54 PM

Fredbear growls as he looked around the main hall, the place was closed up and Jeremy would be arriving soon to start his first shift.

As soon as it hit closing time Fredbear and Spring Bonnie's security programming would be activated, they were the only ones given the programming to help out during the nights. Apparently, management was trying to make a new program for the bots, it was slow going though.

"You ready for this?" Spring Bonnie asked walking over making Fredbear turn to him.

"As I'll ever be," Fredbear said as the two made their way to the security office.

"At least the old gang won't be active tonight," Spring Bonnie said as he moves to the right side of the desk.

"Yeah though we gotta listen to those damn phone recordings again," Fredbear said as he sighs and took the left side.

'Here's to a long night' Spring Bonnie thought as he looked around the office before tensing up as he heard the sound of footsteps as Jeremy arrived.

WITH JEREMY

Jeremy shivers as he walked through the halls of the pizzeria, some employees weren't kidding about how creepy this place was at night. He shook his head as he made his way to the security office, he jumps a bit when he saw Fredbear and Spring Bonnie standing on either side of the security desk looking like bodyguards almost.

'Right, they'll be helping me' Jeremy thought as he nods to the two animatronics and went behind the desk.

"Welcome back Jeremy, we will be assisting you during your night shifts," Fredbear said looking over.

"Our security programs are activated, during this, we will follow any orders you give," Spring Bonnie said crossing his arms.

"O-okay," Jeremy said as he noticed an empty Freddy head on the desk.

"Just a little warning Jeremy, things...get strange at night," Fredbear warns as he looks forward and tense.

Jeremy got an uneasy feeling at that, what did Fredbear mean? Did he mean strange noises, like the building making noises? Then again, why would the two golden animatronics look so tense?

Jeremy gulps as he got comfy, the clock on the desk turning to midnight as he pressed the phone making the recorded message play for his first night on the job.

Done!

In the next chapter, we see how Jeremy's first night goes.

Until then, Ja Ne!
