So this is the sequel of Legacy this story will focus a great deal on Harry and his friends traveling through out Kanto with a few surprises thrown in here an now.

A New Legacy
Chapter One
In the afternoon hours of the summer a little town in the Kanto region known as Pallet Town welcomed three new visitors and welcomed one resident back. "Welcome to my hometown." Harry Ketchum formally Potter called out in joy.
The teenage Aura Guardian wore his blue and black uniform with his falchion styled sword on his belt. Over his shoulder was his messenger style bag with the six Pokémon of his chosen team on the magnetic strap across his chest.
With him were the new friends he had made on his mission in his original home dimension. Neville Longbottom the slightly taller teen with short, cropped hair that had been his God-brother chosen by his birth mother Lily Potter nee Evans.
Nyphadora Tonks the punk styled meta morph who absolutely hated her first name and turned out to be Harry's distant cousin on his birth fathers' side. Finally was his girlfriend Hermione Granger, the brainy witch who had a thirst for knowledge only matched by the greatest minds Harry had ever known.
"Pallet Town is home of Kanto's two latest champions of the Pokémon leagues. While also being known as the home of Professor Samuel Oak, not to mention the Grand Duchess of showcases." Their adult guide said, making the others look to see him once more drinking from a flask.
"By Arceus Qrow it isn't even three yet." Harry complained, making Aura Guardian Qrow Branwell shrug as he put his flask away yet again.
"It's on five somewhere." He said, making Harry sigh.
"Wow…you meant it when you called him an old drunk didn't you?" Tonks asked, remembering Harry calling the elder guardian when they first met him.
"I rarely joke about such things." Harry added as they walked towards the largest building in the town with a large windmill attached to it. Harry walked up to the building before knocking.
"Just a second!" A voice called back. Harry smiled brightly at the rough aged tone of voice telling him exactly who was coming to the door.
"Yes? Can I…?" Professor Samuel Oak paused once he saw who was at his door. Professor Oak had aged some since the time Ash first left on his journey all those years ago. He still had a full head of hair, but it had gone entirely white by now without a single trace of gray remaining.
He had also lost some of the old strength in his limbs forcing him to get around with a cane these days. "Hello Uncle." Harry said with a smile clear and bright on his face.
"Bless my soul." Oak said before moving and wrapping the closest thing to a great-grandson he had tightly accepted a hug back. "Welcome home my boy. Arceus knows you've been missed." He said letting a few tears fall as he and Harry rocked in place.
A few moments later Oak moved back and saw another familiar face. "Qrow! You must have been the one to find our wayward Mareep." He said, making Qrow chuckle.
"Yeah, but he wasn't lost in the woods. I found him and his group here on Mount Silver." The guardian said, making Oak blink in surprise.
"Mount Silver! My word then it's a good thing you did find them. Arceus knows the kinds of dangers one can face there without a permit to protect oneself." Oak called out making Tonks snort.
"Believe you me, we found that out the hard way." She commented, making Oak look down at her and the others with Harry.
"Oh bless me! I've forgotten my manners. Come in come in! I have a pot of tea ready and snacks aplenty!" He said moving back with his cane showing more energy than he had felt in a long time.
"Ah now this is the kind of greeting one could get used to." Tonks commented while sipping her tea while munching on the little sandwiches provided by the elderly professor.
Oak laughed as Harry served the tea before looking at the Pokémon with the group. "Now I take it these three…?" Oak motioned towards Amphitrite the Eevee, Scrapper the Tyrouge, and Vixen the Vulpix. "…came from your mated pairs Harry?" He asked, making Harry nod.
"Yes. Lora, Grace, and Dazzler felt these three had earned enough trust to become foster parents to their young." Harry explained making Oak smile.
"Fantastic. It's good to know that you were able to make friends…where it was you went to." Oak said before setting his cup down.
"Which reminds me. I am Professor Samuel Oak Harry's great-grand uncle in all but blood." He said, making Harry smile.
"He's also one of the biggest names in Pokémon study and research around. Has been credited with matching over ninety percent of Kanto's population to a starter Pokémon. Finally is a world renowned poet." Harry added making Oak wave the titles off.
"I'm more focused on the last these days. I can't get around like I used to. I leave most of my former duties to two of my protegee. My Grandson Gary. As well as Harry's father Ash." Oak said.
"It's a pleasure to meet you Professor. Harry has told us much about his family and how each of them helped guide him." Hermione said with a bright smile making the Professor smile.
"Now, now I haven't had to teach Harry anything in almost a decade. The boy is a natural learner." Harry blushed slightly but didn't comment.
"I am wondering thought what made you three come with Harry?" He asked the trio to blink and remember their own manners.
"Sorry. I'm Neville Longbottom. Harry and I are God-brothers through our birth mothers. I agreed to come journey with Harry because he is my friend, and for the chance to study more on Grass types and fauna in general." Neville said with a slight bow making Oak smile brightly.
"A worthy goal young Neville. I'm sure I have a few old guides on local fauna somewhere to show you later." He said, making the teen slightly bow in thanks.
"I'm Nymphadora Tonks…but I only answer to Tonks or Dora. Harry is my distant cousin on his father's side, and he's also become my friend. I wish to become a trainer as well, but unlike Harry I am looking to mainly focus on fire types." She explained making the professor nod.
"And you young lady?" Oak asked Hermione who blushed slightly.
"This is Hermione Granger, my girlfriend and the smartest woman I've ever met." Harry introduced since he knew she would downplay herself to the professor.
"I haven't fully decided if I am going to go the trainer route, but I am very interested in learning about Water types and ocean life in general." Hermione added with a blush when Harry kissed her cheek.
Oak blinked at the kiss before smiling brightly. "Well…it's about time you've found her young man." He said, making Harry chuckle, scratching the back of his head like his father, while the others looked at the elder in confusion.
"Legend has it that Ketchum men tend to ignore those of the fairer sex until they meet their 'one'. The woman who will one day become their wife, and mother of their children." Qrow explained with a smirk.
"Ash didn't find his one in Serena until his second to last journey, and that was after traveling and meeting quite a number of beautiful women. Red only ever had eyes for Delia since they met the day they came and gathered their first Pokémon here in this very lab." Oak added, making Harry chuckle once more while blushing slightly.
Hermione however smiled at the information while Tonks and Neville looked a little smug at the idea. "Seems to fit in with what we've noticed already." Tonks commented, making Oak and Qrow laugh.
"There we are. All registered and ready to go." Oak said as he handed Neville his license to train and capture Pokémon.
"I've almost registered your starter partners so no one will question if they are yours." Oak said, making the trio of magical beings' nod in understanding.
"Thank you Professor." Hermione said as she held the cherish ball Harry had supplied for her for Amphi, while Tonks held a heal ball, and Neville blue and red topped great ball.
Harry hadn't captured their Pokémon in Pokéballs beforehand because it would've registered each Pokémon as his. "Now then…time for a special request." Professor Oak said before walking over to a pillar with three slots atop of it. Harry smirked at the sight having seen it before.
"Since the three of you wish to focus on the main trinity of Pokémon types. I believe you three are perfect to be assigned my final set of starters." Oak said, making Harry sigh.
"Your final set?" Tonks asked, making Oak nod.
"Indeed. As of this year I am officially retired from my professor duties. Which means after this year Gary will be the Oak matching trainers and starters." He explained making the group nod.
"So we get to pick a Bulbasaur, a Squirtle, and a Charmander?" Hermione asked with a smile remembering Harry telling her about the starters of Kanto. Oak smiled before shaking his head.
"Normally yes…but as this set is to be my last my fellow professors decided to send me a special gift." He explained before the trio of Pokéballs rose onto the platform.
"Neville…my friend professor Rowan sent me this little guy." He said before opening the ball revealing a quadruped turtle like creature with a leaf upon their head.
"Oh wow! A Turtwig!" Harry called out in excitement as he knelt and offered his hand towards the Sinnoh grass starter. The grass type sniffed his hand allowing Harry to rube it atop the head.
"These little guys are powerful. Speedy in this stage and powerful in their next two. They have an ability called Overgrow that enhances grass type moves when their health is lowered to a certain point. Sort of a last-ditch effort towards victory." Harry said as he moved to scratch the little guy under the chin.
"This little guy is very healthy, and a little eager for action." Harry said before lifting his Pokédex. "Let's see…Body Slam egg move. He knows Tackle, Withdraw, Leafage, and Growth." He added before looking towards Neville who joined his God-brother before the Turtwig.
"Hmm…I kind of like the name Terrain for you." He said, making Harry raise an eyebrow. "As in mountain?" He asked Neville.
"He does seem to grow into a mountain of a being." Neville explained Harry shrugged.
"Now then…for the biggest part." Harry said before placing his hand atop of Neville's making the day older teen look up in confusion.
"It's time I show you three how to form aura bonds." He explained before glowing. After a moment Neville glowed as well before he and Terrain seemed to form together as the light faded.
Neville opened his eyes and looked a little unstable. "Whoa! Talk about trippy." He said, shaking his head, making Harry chuckle. Neville accepted Terrain's Pokéball before moving off to form an official bond with Scrapper.
"Dora. This one comes from my friend Professor Birch from the Hoenn region." Oak said as Harry smiled already knowing what was coming. Soon an orange and yellow chicken Pokémon appeared before them.
"Dora…meet Torchic, the very first fire starter that became a Fire/Fighting type that would follow in trend for some time." Harry explained as he and Tonks knelt before the fire type in question.
"This little guy can reach up to 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit inside because of a fire burning inside of them. Which is why they are always warm to hug." Harry said lifting the Torchic up and gave it a quick hug making it chirp in joy.
"They are born with an ability called Blaze which basically works the same as Overgrow only with Fire type moves." Harry explained before raising his dex again. "He knows the moves Growl, Scratch, Ember, and Quick Attack." Harry explained. "Egg move?" Tonks asked, making Harry smile. "Peck." He said, making her nod before she placed her hand atop of Fire type's head and waited. A moment later she, like Neville, felt shaky on her feet before moving off to bond with Vixen while giving her new partner the name Rooster.
"Hermione. This little darling came all the way from Alola." Oak said, making Harry blink. While he does know about Alola…he didn't know much about the Pokémon minus some of the known variants of Pokémon found in other regions. Soon a blue seal appeared before the group.
"A Popplio. They create powerful balloons to send at their opponents to deal additional damage. They are born with the ability of Torrent, and this little girl is most likely eager to dance and play." Harry said, shaking hands with the Sea Lion Pokémon.
"She won't be much of a battler, but she will be an eager and helpful friend." He said to Hermione who smiled.
"How about…Terpsichore after one of the nine muses from mythology." She asked, making the Popplio smile and nod.
"You and your long names from mythology. Can't you pick something easier to pronounce?" Tonks asked in a deadpan tone while Harry rolled his eyes and helped Hermione bond with Terpsichore.
"Don't worry, Chord. I'm sure we'll help you get a better name." Tonks commented, making Hermione growl. "Do I correct you on your naming of their obvious animal species?!" She asked making Tonks look away with a whistle trying to appear innocent.
"Terpsichore here knows the moves Growl, Pound, Water Gun, and Disarming Voice. With the egg move Life Dew." Harry said lowering his dex before guiding Hermione through the process of the aura bond. Hermione could only compare it to the feeling of her mind joining with Terpsichore, the pair seeing everything there is to know about one another.
Once it was complete she could feel Terpsichore in the back of her mind. She knew now why both Neville and Tonks had been disoriented. "Wow…" She commented before placing her hand atop of Amphi forming a bond with her as well.
"Now for my personal new addition." Harry said lifting the heavy ball from earlier.
"Oh…and what do you have in there?" Oak asked Harry who smiled and opened the ball revealing Crusher the Lavatar. Oak blinked in surprise before looking at Harry with a deadpan look.
"You and your father have aged me greatly over the years." He commented, making Harry chuckle.
"Let's see. Guts for an Ability. Knows the moves Leer, Tackle, Rock Throw, Payback, and Bite. Egg move Iron Defense." Harry smiled before looking up at Oak with a sigh.
"Time to reestablish the limit?" He asked, making Oak nod. "Afraid so." Oak said before Harry nodded and placed Kali and Crushers' Pokéballs on his belt before handing over the rest.
"Once you're ready to start journeying again we'll set up your team of six." Oak said, making Harry nod.
"Limit?" Neville asked. Harry nodded.
"Legally a trainer is only allowed to carry six Pokémon at one time, unless they are off on a training journey like I planned to be on before I arrived at Hogwarts." He explained making Neville blink but nod in understanding.
"Now then…how about joining me in a little fun?" Oak asked, making the group smile at his eager look.
"I wonder what the Professor needs from us?" Ash Ketchum asked his wife as they walked towards Oak's ranch.
"I don't know. He just said he had a surprise for all of us and he wanted to have a family dinner." Serena said as she held the hand of her nine-year-old daughter. Abigail Ketchum looked around sighing slightly.
"Are you okay?" Ash asked, already having an idea of what was bothering his youngest.
"Do you think big brother will be home soon?" She asked Ash and Serena to look at one another before sighing.
"I don't know baby girl. Arceus themselves seemed to have taken Harry for a mission. It could be a long time before we see him again." Ash said remembering the day in question clear in his mind. Watching his son vanish in a whirlwind had surprised him and worried him after all he knew just how dangerous a mission for Arceus could go.
The group walked towards Oak ranch and were surprised to see another man approaching as well. "Gary? I didn't know you were back in town." Ash asked his former rival who smiled back.
"I got in early this morning…while you were still sleeping probably." Gary joked making Ash chuckle while scratching the back of his head.
"Pika pi." Ash looked up his shoulder at his first partner.
"Like you haven't gotten lazy from time to time." He argued at the snickering electric mouse.
The group laughed as they approached the door and walked in. "Gramps we're here." Gary called out pausing at the sight of three teens standing before his grandpa.
"Oh hello everyone. I am just having a final meeting with this year's trainers." Sam Oak said with a smile as he leaned on his cane.
"Hello. I'm Ash Ketchum and this is my family. My wife Serena, our daughter Abigail, and my oldest partner Pikachu." Ash introduced with a smile.
"And I'm Professor Gary Oak." Gary mentioned since Ash hadn't included him.
"Hello. I'm Hermione Granger."
"Neville Longbottom."
"Tonks. Just Tonks." The trio of teens introduced making the group nod.
"So where do you hail from? I don't think I've seen robes like those before." Ash asked, mentioning the black robes they each wore over their clothing. Each had colored trim inside with Hermione and Neville having red and Tonks having yellow.
They each had a patch as well two lions and a badger. "Scotland." Neville commented, making the group tilt their heads in confusion.
"Where is that?" Abigail asked.
"A far away land that has only recently been traveled by a wayward guardian." A familiar voice said, making everyone turn in shock. Harry stood there leaning against a doorway with a smile on his face.
"You wouldn't believe the travel time to get there and back again." He commented.
"Big brother!" Abigail called out as she ran forward with Pikachu both jumping into Harry's arms making him laugh loudly as he hugged them close.
"I missed you too." Harry said as he hugged his crying little sister before the siblings were slammed into by Ash and Serena both of whom were crying as well.
"Sounds like you had a heck of a time over there." Ash said as the family ate a meal of pasta with red sauce, salad, and breadsticks.
"It also makes me glad you're home now. I'd hate to see what would happen to that world if you were allowed to run wild for much longer." Gary jokes.
"Considering all he did I wouldn't have been surprised if he caused most of the Purebloods to burst into flames with his ideals and changes." Tonks joked along with the younger Oak making Harry shrug.
"Not my fault they liked to keep themselves stuck in the past." He commented making the pair laugh.
"Did…did you meet your birth parents?" Serena asked since that seemed to be a subject Harry had glossed over. Harry sighed as he set his utensils down.
"They died the day I arrived here." Harry said making Serena blink in surprise. "James and Lily Potter died protecting me from an attack from an evil magical named Voldemort. The backlash from his attack is what made Lord Arceus find me and bring me here to you two." Harry explained to his mother who looked down before sighing in a mixture of relief and sadness.
"Did you think I'd abandon you guys?" Harry asked making her shake her head.
"No. I knew you would come back, but…I did fear that finding your birth parents would make you hesitate." She explained making Harry nod in understanding.
"Honestly I think you would've liked my birth mother. Apparently I inherited a lot of her personality and her thirst for knowledge." He said making Serena chuckle.
"So it's her I have to blame for your wild side?" She asked making Harry laugh along with her.
Ash smiled at the sight of his son laughing with his mother before he looked outside towards the stars. "I don't know if you can hear me but thank you. Thank you for my son and my family." He internally prayed to Arceus.
"What was the best thing you saw?" Abigail asked always curious of the adventures her brother got into overtime. More so when he started traveling without her.
"If I had to pick one thing that you'd like…I'd say watching Dasher help the Unicorn herds would be at the top." He said, making Abigail smile at the idea.
"As for the most magical sight?" Harry asked, thinking about it before smiling at Hermione. "Watching Mia approach me for the Yule Ball in her periwinkle blue dress." He said making Hermione blushed brightly looking away made Serena and Ash blink in surprise.
"Oh ho! Another Ketchum male found his one!" Gary called out in joy, smiling brightly.
"Finally!" Serena called out before rushing from her seat over and hugging Hermione close, surprising the bushy haired teen looking over towards Harry. "I'm so happy to meet you properly!" Hermione was still a little confused but accepted the hug and even tried to hug Serena back.
"Sorry about that, Hermione. When Serena heard about the legend of Ketchum men and their ones she became worried that Harry wouldn't find his anytime soon since none of the girls in his life had caught his eye." Ash explained with an apology as both he and Harry chuckled while rubbing the back of their heads.
"I don't suppose there's a legend involving Ketchum women?" Tonks asked motioning to Abigail.
"Considering Abby is the first one born in quite some time…we don't know." Ash explained with a shrug.
"Yep. I will have a legacy all my own when I grow up!" Abigail called out in joy. Harry laughed at his sister's enthusiasm before he walked over to save Hermione from his mother.
"Mom…she can't continue to be my one if you squeeze the life out of her." He said making Serena look to see her arms had tightened, making Hermione look a little blue.
"Oh I'm so sorry!" She jumped back, making Hermione take a deep breath.
"It's alright Mrs. Ketchum." Hermione said, making Serena wave off the title.
"Serena dear. I get enough of Mrs. Ketchum or Duchess Ketchum from others." She said, making Hermione nod.
Harry smiled as he pets Crusher along his spine as he ate from the specialty food Harry set out for him. "I still can't believe this is the son of the little Lavatar I saved all those years ago." Ash said with a smile as he held Kali in his lap feeding her spoonfuls of honey.
The pair had just finished feeding all the Pokémon on the ranch including their own Pokémon partners with Harry taking the youngest two to share time with his father. Ash felt lighter once more performing a father/son activity the pair had been doing since Harry was five years old.
"Well you did spend a lot of time helping those in need. It was bound to build up some good karma for another time." Harry said, making Ash chuckle.
Nearby Hermione, Neville, and Tonks were spending time bonding with their partners. Amphi and Chord were enjoying time playing with one another. Rooster and Vixen shared a few Rawst berries between one another both enjoying the slightly spicy aftertaste. Finally Scrapper and Terrain were sipping from a cup or bowl of tea with Neville.
"I also go to experience what it was like to be chosen one as well." He commented, making Ash sigh. Harry had left the wording of the prophecy around him out of his story until it was just the pair of them alone.
Something Ash was thankful for because he was afraid of how his wife and daughter would've reacted to the idea that Harry would have either had to die or kill a man if Dumbledore had had his way. Ash internally growled at the mention of the headmaster.
"I'm usually a non-violent man…outside of Pokémon battles…but that man almost made me want to commit murder." He thought before relaxing.
"The difference being my bad guys were mostly businessmen with megalomaniac tendencies…you had a magical would-be dictator that could kill you with a single action." Ash commented, making Harry shrug.
"Speaking of…are you training your friends to be guardians as well?" He asked as Harry nodded.
"Yes. They have the potential, and it seems rather irresponsible to not teach them." He said making Ash chuckle.
"At least you inherited your mothers' sense of responsibility instead of my brashness." He said making Harry laugh this time.
"Who won the tournament why I was away?" Harry asked making Ash blink.
"A girl named Maddison from Celadon placed first, but she never made it past Lorelei." Ash said making Harry nod.
"Yang is planning to journey this year now that her Dratini is a Dragonair." He added making Harry shudder slightly.
"Ugh…I just know she's going to make a nuisance of herself sooner rather than later." Harry groaned making Ash chuckle internally agreeing with his son.
The blond bombshell niece of Qrows was known rather well for being outgoing and very focused on what she desires. "What about Ruby? She's thirteen now but no doubt has already earned an early license." He asked about Qrow's daughter and Yang's cousin.
"Her father already paired her up with one of her uncles Growliths. She's taken to calling the little guy Tiger." Ash said making Harry smile.
"Yang is most likely going to take her on her journey. With how protective she is I doubt she'd let Ruby go out on her own." Harry commented making Ash chuckle but agree.
"Will you be staying long?" Ash asked after a time. Harry pulled out his Xtransceiver and looked at the date. Seeing it was early July he looked around.
"Neville and I both turn a year older by the end of the month. We'd probably leave the morning of the first and still have plenty of time to travel before the summer tournament."
Harry said making Ash nod relieved to know his son would spend some time home and understanding why his mom always seemed sad when he would take off within a week of returning home.
Ash nodded looking up into the air at the stars before relaxing as he planned a gift for his son and his friends.
