"Are you ready?" Garrus squeezed my hand reassuringly. Despite my nervousness, I gave him a nod. I was lying on an exam table as Chakwas finished preparing the fertilized eggs, a cold shiver running through my body.

"I can face down an army and not feel a thing, but having kids scares the crap outta me. I don't get it." I laughed, trying desperately to rid myself of the pit in my gut.

"You've done a fantastic job, my dear," Chakwas interjected, walking over and setting a small petri dish on the table next to me, "Fear not, you'll do fantastic again."

"I agree," Garrus said immediately, bringing a smile to my face, easing the knot of fear.

"I'm ready." With a smile and a nob, Chakwas began the procedure.

Thirty minutes into Amelia's procedure, my Omnitool began to buzz. I let go of her hand, moving to silence the infernal device, but she intercepted me, resting her hand on my forearm, stopping me. "Answer it. It might be important. I'll be fine."

I acknowledged, stepping out of the gym-turned-medbay and answering the call. General Isaion's hologram appeared above my arm. "Yes, General?"

"Sir, there has been another attack. As we planned, several ships were on standby and emerged to help. The wolf pack disabled the ship and was preparing to board when the enemy ship scuttled itself."

I sighed, lightly banging my fist against the wall. If a ship was scuttled, it was almost certain destruction for any ship nearby. "Were there any survivors?"

The general looked at the floor, forlorn, "No, Sir. In total, we lost four frigates and two patrol vessels, along with 134 crewmen."

I was silent for a moment, cursing to myself, "Did we determine who is attacking us, at least?"

"I'm afraid not, Sir. The ships were destroyed prior to sending the scan to High Command."

"Thank you for letting me know, General. I'll be there in a few hours to discuss our next steps. Have preliminary plans in place before then." The turian on the other end straightened up and saluted me, ending the call.
