Ranma was looking at the closed door with a hunted look on his face. He was sweating uncontrolled, his body unable to move as he landed on a wall to support himself to stand straight. It's been some minutes since he had left Akane to his room to give her some space so that she could change her clothes. He still can't believe what they had done last night. And moreover, he was disgusted by himself for what he made her do with him.
He knew that he became extremely insecure last night when he saw Akane getting closer to that moron. But that doesn't justify the way he behaved with her! He could have never imagined in his wildest dreams that he would force Akane to make love with him! But he did! He did force her last night! And that thought alone is making him sick to his guts.
He banged the back of his head over the wall several times as tears of regret clouded his eyes. He began to curse himself as he thought to himself,
'I have proved her right.. I am a pervert! I AM A DAMN PERVERT!! God.. how am I going ta face her now! What she might be thinking of me! No… no I can't face her anymore.. I know she will be angry at me and she will definitely hate me for this and … and I can't see her looking at me with hatred in her eyes.. No! I can't face her.. But; I.. I have to apologize to her.. I have to take responsibility for what I did to her.. I just can't run away from her like a coward.. I have to...
Suddenly, his room's door opened widely. He saw her standing there, her face down, a blank expression on her face. She slowly looked up at him with her red puffy eyes. He could tell by looking at her that she had been crying so much. He wanted to run to her to hug her, but all he could do was to stare back at her helplessly as he became unable act as he wished to. She kept looking at him with expectancy in her eyes and all she got from him was his silence.
Ranma silently kept staring back at her. He wanted to say lots of things to her, moreover, he wanted to apologize to her, but it was as if he had lost his voice and he couldn't utter any word to her. After some moment has passed, Akane slowly blinked her eyes as she gave a shaky breath. Then without saying anything to him, she hastily left his place….
Akane ran to her hotel room as fast as she could. She was holding back her tears for so long that now suppressing this feeling begins to suffocate her. Soon she reached her room as she hastily opened her door. God showed some mercy on her as she found their shared rooms to be empty. She ran to her washroom and quickly closed the door . She turned the shower on as the shower water streamed over her tense body. She began to cry her misery out standing under the shower as the sound of the running water shaded the sound of her extreme sobs….
"We have to hurry up, Nabiki. I don't even know if Akane is ready or not yet!" Suki said tiredly as she walked towards their hotel room.
"Yeah, yeah, don't worry aunt Su, Mrs Saotome said that she had left her room a long time ago.(I hope she is right though)" She murmured the last words to herself.
"What did you say, Nabiki?" Suki asked in a confused manner.
"Nah! Nothing…. And anyways, she doesn't even have any clue that we are leaving today …"
"Oh yes, you are right, Nabiki..!" She sighs as she suddenly realizing that, then she asks her in a low voice, "Honey, I am sorry that you guys have to end your journey like this !"
"Oh c'mon aunt Su, you overthink stuff so much! Believe me, we are also not thrilled to stay at this place anymore.."
Nabiki said smirking as she touched the key card to their room to open the door as they both entered the room.
Akane was lying over her bed feeling completely exhausted, she was feeling so drowsy to sit or do anything else. She was about to fall asleep but she jerked awake when she heard the sound of their front door opening and closing. She heard Nabiki and Suki talking with each other, she sighs tiredly as she slowly sits up on her bed. She didn't wanted to, but still, she lazily began to walk towards them as she slowly opened her closed door.
Nabiki and Suki got surprised when they heard the room door opening , they both got stunned to find Akane standing there with a foul expression on her face. Nabiki gave a big sigh of relief as she hastily said before Suki,
"Oh hi sis, so how was your night with Nodoka Obasama?"
Akane scrunched her nose in confusion as she looked at Nabiki. She was about to ask her what she meant by saying that, but before she could ask anything , Nabiki ran to her and gave her a bone crushing hug.
"Hey! What are you.."
"Keep quiet, dummy! Or do you want me to tell Aunt Suki the truth about which is the real Saotome you had spent the night with.. huh?" Nabiki jokingly whispers to her and feels her body getting stiff. Nabiki smirks as she broke their hug; she wanted to tease Akane more but when she saw her dreadful eyes, her sly smile vanished immediately as she became worried for her imouto. She gives her a serious look as she asked her in a whisper tone,
" What happened to you? Are you crying? But.. Why?!"
Akane bit her lower lips as she met her sister's worried filled eyes. She knows that Nabiki rarely shows this tender side of her to anyone , but now that she is showing concern to her, her heart becomes even heavier with emotions. Since she came back to this room she was missing Kasumi so much. She wanted to meet her onee-chan so badly and to cry on her arms so that she could soothe her heartache with her warm tone. But she knew that she can't call Kasumi now, because she doesn't want to bother her with her own problems. She was feeling so lonely by herself. Neither she could go to Ranma, nor she could talk to Kasumi and telling her mom was out of the question. She never considered talking with Nabiki, honestly, she never felt this warmth around her before as she was feeling at that moment.
"Akane?" Nabiki called her again with a concerned tone.
"Akane dear?" Suki came beside them as she said in a low tone, "Are you missing Kasumi? Don't worry honey, we will see each other soon at the airport.."
At the mention of her elder sister, she couldn't hold back her tears anymore. She nodded her head at them and broke down into tears. She started sobbing again as Nabiki came forward and pulled her to give her a warm hug….
Akio was silently walking down the streets of the Nerima district. Now that he is living alone at the clinic, he is feeling kind of lonely. But he has a task on hand which he has to finish at any cost. Come to think of it, lots of things have happened in only one day. Today, the newlyweds went on their honeymoon trip from Okinawa and they all have returned back to Nerima. At first he thought that they would stay back at Okinawa for a few more days, which might have helped him to enjoy the leftover holidays before he starts the new journey in the College. But when he heard that the Tendo and the Saotomes were leaving, he couldn't stay back there and decided to cut his trip short as well. As he turn the corner which will lead him to the Saotome resident, the talk he had with with Kasumi came to his mind,
*"Akio, do you have some time? I have something important to tell you.." Kasumi said in a gentle tone.
Akio looked up at her from the book he was reading, he grinned up at her and said,
"I have all the time for you, onee-chan!"
Kasumi smiled sweetly and nodded at him,
"Thank you, Akio.. Will you please come with me.. I don't want anyone to hear what I am about to ask you.."
Akio nodded and quickly followed Kasumi. She stopped not so far from where they could still look at their family. She sighs and looked at Akio and said,
"Akio, can I ask a big favor from you..?"
"Anything for you, onee-chan." he replied honestly.
Kasumi turned her gaze towards Ranma as she asked him,
"Can you reach out to Ranma for me?"
"Reach out to him! But why?"
"I think he needs help, Akio.." She looked at Akio pleadingly as she said, "Your brother has worked so hard for our honeymoon trip and that's why I am not postponing it; otherwise I would have stayed back to help those two."
"Those two! You mean to say Ranma and Akane?"
"Yes, Akio.."
"But.. But they are looking absolutely fine to me!"
Kasumi gave a sad smile as she said,
"I know them way too well! They can fool everyone but not me anymore. I am sure that they are not fine. Something must have happened to them yesterday. I am sure of it. I asked Akane about it but she was stubbornly telling me that everything is fine. But she can't lie to me. And I know if I ask Ranma about it, he will lie to me too. That's why I want you to be his ally; you know how it goes, a man-to-man talk! Look Akio, you must be thinking that I am poking my nose into their relationship, but trust me I have no other choice left. These two are extremely stubborn when they want to be and in their stubbornness they wouldn't even notice how much harm they are causing to themselves..!! And besides, …" She paused for some moments.
"Besides what, onee-chan.."
Kasumi looked up at him and grimly said to him,
"Let's just say that it's not the time to play around anymore, Akio.. They need to become clear to each other. About how they feel about each other, and what they really want from each other; it can't wait any longer and they can't continue to act like prideful dumb stubborn heads!"
"Oh wow, you are really mad at them,aren't you?"
"Oh my! Do I sound like I am?" She asked as she laid her palm over her cheek.
Akio laughed slightly as he asked her,
"So what you want me to do, Onee-chan?"
"Talk to Ranma first. Try to get the truth out of him. Give him courage to be fearless and be honest with his true feelings. I don't know if he loves my sister or not, but if does then, then make him understand the seriousness of these coming days.."
"Seriousness!? What do you mean by that? What is going to happen?." Akio asked, suddenly feeling worried for them.
Kasumi sighed and said while turning to look at Ranma and Akane,
"Unfortunately, I can't tell you much more about this.Thats why I am asking you a big favor, Akio. Would you be able to help Ranma and Akane to sort out their problems?"
Akio took her hand in his, she turned to look at him as he said in a determined tone.
"I will take care of this matter, Onee-chan. You can count on me.."
Kasumi grabbed his hand tightly as her eyes filled with tears of hope. She nodded her head and said,
"Oh thank you, Akio. I know that I can count on you.."*
Akio sighs as the memory flashed through his brain. He was so determined to fulfill his duty that he didn't even take any rest after returning home. He just quickly took shower, grabbed something to eat and ran out from his house to go to the Saotome's. At first, he thought that Kasumi may be overthinking things and worrying for nothing at all. That's why he kept observing them throughout the journey and sadly, he couldn't notice any difference at all. But things changed when they reached Nerima. Their body language was constantly yelling at him that something serious might have happened between them. The way Akane went ahead to go with her aunt Suki to their hotel and the way Ranma was looking back at her was so heartbreaking to watch. From that moment on he has become completely restless and he is more than curious to find out what had occurred to them in such a short period!
Soon he reached Ranma's house, he then hesitantly knocked on the door and waited for their reply. He didn't have to wait for too long as Nodoka shortly attended the door. She was visibly surprised to see him standing there as she smiled at him and asked him politely,
"Oh dear, I was not expecting you! What a pleasant surprise, Akio!"
"Umm, I am sorry for disturbing you, Mrs Saotome!" he said as he slowly bowed down towards her.
Nodoka warmly smiled at him and said,
"You are not disturbing me, Akio; to be honest with you, I am extremely glad to see you, dear!"
Akio smiled at her and asked her,
"Glad to know that, Mrs Saotome! Umm.. Is Ranma available now?"
At the mention of her son's name, she sighed sadly as she said,
"He is the reason why I said that I am glad to see you, son.."
"Why… What happened?"
Nodoka grimed and said,
"I have no idea, son.. He has been working out in the backyard since he came back from there. He is not eating, he is not even talking to me and he seems so angry as well.. I.. I don't know what to do anymore, Akio. I don't even know if he is upset because his father has also returned today.."
"His father? Mr Saotome? Come to think of it, I didn't see him attending the wedding as well..!"
Nodoka sighs and said,
"Long story, dear. I will tell you later.."
"Anyway, now that I am here I can greet him as well.."
Nodoka gave a small smile and said,
"He is not home at the moment, dear.. Maybe later.. But now can you please help me find out what is wrong with my son? I am really feeling nervous for him.."
Akio nodded his head and said in a calming tone,
"Don't worry, Mrs Saotome, he must be tired or overthinking about something.. I will go and ask him.."
"That's so nice of you, Akio.. Thank you.. Let me take you over to him.."
Nodoka escorted him to the backyard. When he reached there he found out that Nodoka was right! Ranma was fighting with an exercise dummy, he was looking extremely furious as he mercilessly kept beating that dummy.
"I will leave you guys alone for now.. Please don't hesitate to call me if you need anything.."
Akio just nodded his head as he kept looking at Ranma. When Nodoka left his side, he became nervous to go near him. But he has a task in his hand and he is more than willing to get it over with. He took a deep breath and hesitantly approached him.. He loudly clears his voice and said somewhat in a loud tone,
"Hey buddy! How's it going!?"
Ranma's body got stiff as he stopped his movement. He didn't answer him as he kept his back towards him,
Akio noticed the flexing of Ranma's body, he gulped in anxiousness as he tried to approach him again,
"I… I… I.. Umm.."
"Get out of sight…"
Akio was shocked to hear that,
"Pardon?"
"I said …. GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE!!"
Ranma furiously punched the dummy and made it break into pieces. Akio got more tense after seeing that, but he kept standing there as he asked him again,
"What's the matter with you man!! You are acting kinda insane!"
Ranma turned to face him with a furious expression over his face as he said with his greeted teeth,
"I am not acting insane! Trust me, I have become one now.. It's all year fault that I have to go through all this.. And if you value you life Akio, get the hell out of here.."
Akio also got irritated at him as he asked him angrily,
"C'mon man! What have I done to you? Why are you so pissed off at me?!!"
"Why am I pissed off at ya!! Ya dare to ask me that!!" Ranma roared angrily.
"YES!! Because this is not making any sense to me! You are again blaming me for nothing! And If I have done something wrong to you then tell me, man..!!"
Ranma looked at him hard and said in a low dangerous tone,
"I DON'T want to waste my time talking to ya.. Get out.."
Ranma turned to the opposite direction as he dismissed any further talk with him.
Akio growled in annoyance as he said in a low hard tone,
"Whatever you say Ranma I WON'T leave from here until you tell me what's wrong with you. And if somehow it's my fault, then tell me what have I done! You can't just leave me in darkness and tell me this is all my fault that you are acting this way!"
"I don't own any explanation to ya.."
"You DO, Ranma! To me and to every person who is close to you guys, because we are sick and tired of seeing you guys fighting for no reason! Do you have any idea how worried Kasumi and your mother is? How could you be this blind man?! You know what Ranma, sometimes I feel like you and Akane are better off without each other; because that might save lots of people from getting upset every second of their life!"
"How dare you say that!!!" Ranma angrily turned to face him again as he hastily grabbed Akio's collar; then he said with an angry whisper tone, "You dare to say that , jerk! It's all YAR DAMN fault that this is happening in the first place!!!"
"Huh! My fault?!" Akio asked him in complete disbelief as he scrunched his eyebrows together. "Thats what I am asking you , Ranma. How its my fault?"
Ranma was breathing heavily, his eyes were furious, grip deadly. He gave him a final hard push and told him in a hard tone,
"Get the hell out of my face!"
"I definitely won't leave this time until I find out how is it my fault!!" Akio closed his eyes to control his anger, he was trying his best not to rise his voice on him, but it was getting harder for him to keep himself in check. He sighs and looked at Ranma with a determined eyes, then he calmly said to him,
"Look man, I don't know how I have managed to create a problem between you two again, but if I did then I am extremely sorry for that. You have misunderstood me and Akane of our relationship before and I have explained to you how it's going between us, so I won't repeat myself to you again.."
"It's not that.." Ranma said as he looked down at his balled hands, a shadow over his face.
"Really!?" Akio asked as he became even more confused, "Then what?"
Ranma didn't answer him as he kept looking down at his hand. Akio growled and said impatiently.,
"Dude, you really like to make my life harder, isn't it.." Akio sighs defeated and starts saying, "Okay, you won't tell me then? Ok fine, I have to find it out myself, I won't give up on this soon, buddy! Okay, so, when we meet last time? Umm.. Oh dumb, obviously on Kasumi onee- chan's wedding! Uhh… but as much as I remember, you talked to me pretty friendly at that time! Then, when did I get the time to ruin your day, man?" He started screeching his head in confusion as he continues to describe his thinking to Ranma,
"When the party started I couldn't even hang out with you guys because I was busy partying with my cousins and…. I remember that they made me drink a lot too!" Akio gulped as memories started to unfold in his brain, "I.. I wanted to introduce you guys to them so I went to search for you and soon I found you standing with a sad face watching Akane dancing with that Taichi guy..Then what happened…?"
Ranma greeted his teeth in anger and heatedly looked up at him,
Akio gulped and spoke out nervously,
"Oh no!! I gave you to drink that same thing as well, didn't I? But.. But I might have gave that to you to man up, buddy! So that you could go and punch that moron! But… but.. hey..!! You left that place like a cowrd, didn't ya!? Then why are you blaming me for? You are lucky that you left, man! Because I started
acting funny in front of all the guests because that drink made me drunk as hell!! I got enough scolding from my brother for that, but you haven't done anything funny after being drunk! So.. Why are you angry at me ?"
Ranma growled and said bitterly,
"Because of your damn drink I became the way I never thought I would ever be.. I became drunk and.. and Akane came looking for me, and I… She.. Damn it..!!"
Akio got anxious hearing his tone of voice and the regret hiding in his tone. He balled his hands tightly and courageously asked him,
"Ranma, please tell me what happened.. Trust me this talk will be only between me and you, I promise you. If it's really my fault then.. please let me fix my mistakes so that I can help you. Please buddy please, tell me what happened.."
Ranma looked at Akio with doubt in his blue eyes. Akio's concern-filled stare was telling him to give in and believe him with his secret. Anyway, he was feeling completely lost at this time and he doesn't even have any idea of how to approach Akane anymore! He was being more and more frustrated as the time passed by. He wanted to talk to her back at the airport, but whenever he tried, he failed miserably. The thing also didn't help when he noticed how Akane was constantly avoiding him and when they reached Nerima, she didn't even turn to look at him and went with her aunt Suki.
Her behaviour made him extremely devastated; he understood that he is not welcome to be near her anymore. That frustrated him so much that after coming back to his home all he had done was demolishing one after another fighting dummies! But that is only helping him to feel more worthless because he can't seem to find any solution for his problems. He is very much disturbed at Akio, he is the last person he wanted to see. But now he is the one who is standing right in front of him and asking if he could help him!
Ranma wanted to turn down his request and punch this jerk out of his house; but for some reason his heart is stopping him from doing that. Because, deep down he knows that he needs help very badly. He needs someone to scold him for what he had done with Akane and he want someone who would give him some advice on how to fix all his mistakes. Ranma gives a big sigh as he gives up on looking tough in front of him. He then looked at Akio with miserable filled eyes and asked him to go with him to his room, so that no one would hear what he was about to tell him….
Half an hour later….
Akio kept staring at Ranma with shock in his face. Ranma was leaning on a wall as he kept looking down at his feet, his face blushing furiously. After some moments of complete silence has passed, Akio finally cleared his throat as he asked him in an amused tone,
"So…. you're telling me that.. you were completely drunk and had se.. I mean, had love with her!?"
Ranma just nodded his head as he blushed furiously.
"But.. Are you sure it's your first time doing that with her?" Akio asked him dumbfoundedly.
Completely taken aback by his sudden question, Ranma looked up at him and asked him,
"Excuse me!"
"No, what I mean to say is, your relationship with Akane seemed so intense to me that I thought that you guys have crossed the line long ago!!"
"No!! Never!! She is not the type of girl who would let any guy touch her improperly! Not even me.."
"But you did make love with her, didn't you?"
"That's the main problem I am facing here, dude! I have forced her, she didn't want to.."
"Wait.. How do you know that she didn't want to?"
"BECAUSE SHE WAS UPSET AFTER THAT, damn it..!"
Akio thought deeply for some moment and then slowly started to inspect him suspiciously. Ranma growled annoyingly as he asked him harshly,
"What are ya looking at, you moron?!"
Akio cleared his voice again and hesitantly asked him,
"Uhh.. Look, a woman could get upset after doing that for multiple reasons.. So you don't have to beat yourself thinking that you were drunk and that's why she was upset... Umm.. Uhhh...Look buddy, it's not like I am questioning your ability or anything... But.. Umm….was she .. What I mean to ask you is..did you manage to satisfy.."
"Don't even dare to ask me that.." Ranma said in a dangerously low tone as he gave him a hard look, his face blushing furiously.
Akio nervously laughed a bit and sighed in defeat,
"It doesn't make any sense to me! Why would she be angry at you then ?"
Ranma growled and said in a low hard tone,
"I have forced her, dummy! Can't ya understand this simple matter! I was drunk and took her without her permission..!!"
"Wait a minute pal, but you said that you gave her time to make a choice to leave you, didn't you?"
Ranma blinked his eyes in confusion as he slowly nodded his head.
Akio smiled at him and said,
"Look Ranma; you were drunk at that time, but she was not! If she came back to you willingly, how could you even think that you have forced her? And as much as I know her, she is a very strong woman, she would have punched you to death if you tried to touch her without her permission. So, it is impossible that she is angry with you for what happened last night!"
Ranma started breathing unevenly as he slowly began to rethink what Akio was telling him. Then he asked him in a doubtful tone,
"Then….then why did she seem angry at me? She wasn't looking happy at all.."
Akio's smiley face vanished as he started to think again,
"There must be something else behind it… Hmmm.. Let me think…." Akio thought for some long moment as he asked Ranma in a low tone, "Ranma, be honest with me, what is the first thing you said to her when you guys woke up together?"
"Huh?!" Ranma looked at him dumbfoundedly.
Akio gave him an encouraging nod as he asked him again,
"I mean, what did you say to her when she woke up? Did you hug her ; did you say that you love her or did you straight forward asked her to go for a second round with you which made her angry at you?"
Ranma's face was burning with embarrassment hearing what he was asking him so boldly. He suddenly realized what he might have done wrong as he whispers in a low tone,
"I…. I said sorry to her.."
Akio looked at him as if he had just seen a ghost. He hastily shook his head and asked him in an annoyed tone,
"Sorry?! You said sorry to her!!! Sorry for what? Sorry that you made love with her?! Sorry you didn't want her? Sorry that you had made love with the wrong person?! This simple sorry could hold a bigger meaning, Ranma!! Anyway, did you confessed how much you love her afterwards? Do YOU even love her, Ranma!!?"
"OF COURSE I DO!!"
"DID YOU TELL IT TO HER, THEN?!"
Ranma gives him a hunted look as he sighs defeatedly,
"No…. I didn't…"
Akio became upset to hear him say that. He slowly stood up and walk towards him, then looking into his miserable state he said,
"Now do you understand why she is upset, Ranma? That poor girl has trusted you beyond everything she got and you were only sorry for that! If you would have just confessed to her after your apology, she wouldn't have left you like that! Now she must be thinking that you don't love her and you have done it because you were not in your correct mind last night. I am actually surprised that she didn't hit you for your stupidity, man!! You are lucky enough for that.."
Ranma sighs as he looks down with a miserable face, "I wish… I wish she had hit me hard that time, Akio! I really deserve to be beaten by her! I … I have hurt her feelings so badly, man! I can't forgive myself for that…"
Ranma's voice was trembling when he said this to him. He looked completely broken as he kept looking down at his feet. Akio felt pity for him. He smiled at him and puts his hand over his shoulder and shook him hard to make Ranma look at him,
"Enough of moping!! We don't have time for all this!! Stand straight, man!! We have to fix your mistakes as fast as we can.. Let's go.."
"But where?" Ranma asked in a confused tone.
Akio growled and pushed Ranma towards his door, then said,
"To Akane, dummy! You will face her and tell her that you love her.."
Ranma became nervous as he asked him,
"What if she is still angry at me and don't want to see me!?"
Akio sighs and said,
"Look, you guys are too stubborn, you know! So use that rare power of your's !! If she doesn't want to see you, BE STUBBORN!! Make her look at you, make her listen to you! If she insists then …. then hug her tightly and apologize to her till she couldn't take it anymore.. You can do that, right?"
Finally Ranma found some peace in his heart, he slowly smiled at him and nodded his head with determination. Akio smiled at that and said,
"Let's not waste any more time! Let's go, buddy.."
"Yeah.. let's go.."
Saying that , they both began to walk as fast as they could .. They hurriedly climbed down the stairs and when Ranma was passing by the living room, he stopped, shocked,
Akio was not expecting that pause, he bumped into his back and growled at him,
"Hey man, why'd you stop suddenly? Let's hurry.."
"Akio?!! You are here as well?"
Recognising the voice immediately, he quickly looked at the living area and was shocked to find aunt Suki sitting there with Nodoka by her side.
Nodoka looked at both the guys and said politely,
"Ranma, Suki has come here to talk to us about something important. Please join us, it's really urgent, dear…"
Akio clears his throat and said, "Well then, I will wait for you outside, Ranma.,"
"No! Stay.." Ranma said quickly as he looked at Akio. Then turning to aunt Suki he asked politely, "He can stay with us, right?"
Suki smiled at him and said,
"I have some private confession to make now. If you don't mind him hearing all that, I won't mind too. He is our family after all.."
Ranma gave a shaky breath and nodded his head.
"Oh , then please let me bring some more tea for you all..Just give me some moment please.." Saying that , Nodoka left to bring some tea for all of them.
"Uhh.. Ranma, I need to use the washroom first. It won't take much time.."
Akio quickly went to the washroom and locked the door properly. He was having a bad feeling about aunt Suki's sudden appearance and when she said about the private confession, he understood that something bad is about to happen. He hurriedly pulled out his cellphone from his pocket and dialed his desired number and after a long moment of wait, she finally answered him,
"Hello?"
"Nabiki! It's Akio. Where is Akane!"
"Akane? Right by my side, why?"
Akio wiped his sweat and said in a whisper tone,
"I think I should inform you about this.. I am at Saotome's now and aunt Suki just arrived here, she said she has some private confession to make to them…"
