It was valentine's day. And while Alder and Dash forbid such holidays, and no one in the school even wanted to celebrate it, Casper was excited none the less. He was also very nervous. He had somebody in mind to be his valentine, and he had finally worked up the courage to ask him out.
The ghost shyly walked down the school hallway, towards Thatch, who was at his locker.
"Uh, hi?" Casper squeaked nervously, a blush painting his face.
The vampire turned to face him.
"What do you want marshmallow boy?" Thatch grumbled.
"I uh, well um." The ghost swayed back and forth, trying to find his words.
"I don't got all day." The vampire scowled.
"I…uh.."
"Look, if you don't-" Thatch snapped, but was interrupted by the shorter one.
"-This is for you!" Casper shoved a red tear drop shaped card into Thatch's hands. "It's from me…" he muttered shyly.
The vampire raised a brow before opening up the card, which became a heart shape. He scanned the card. After a moment, he smiled.
"Ok, I'll be your valentine." He gave such a sweet smile.
"Really?!" Casper clasped his hands excitedly and beamed a smile.
"No." Thatch's smile turned sinister.
The ghost felt very confused as Thatch started cackling meanly.
"You think I'd ever go out with you?!" He laughed.
Casper felt himself start to cry. Slither and Dummygirl appeared behind Thatch and joined in on the laughing.
"You're pathetic, you know that?" Dummygirl snickered.
"Yeah man, what's wrong with you?" Slither mocked.
Casper watched in tears as Thatch ripped the card in half. The mean trio continued to laugh as the ghost picked up the card pieces from the ground.
"Now get lost." Thatch snapped with a mean smirk.
Casper sniffed.
"You didn't have to laugh…" he murmured as he walked away.
The ghost rounded a corner and ran into his friends.
"He laughed at me…" he cried softly.
Mantha chuckled like it was no big deal.
"You should have known, Casper." She smiled.
"Yeah, this was to be expected." Ra added, also not concerned.
"Don't you care?" The ghost started crying even harder, the world got blurry.
"Oh come on, it's not that big a deal." Mantha chuckled and rolled her eyes.
"Yeah, it's fine." The mummy laughed.
"No it's not! Don't you care?! Don't you about me?!" Casper started to sob badly, he felt like nobody cared.
"Quit being such a baby." Mantha laughed, Ra joining her.
"DON'T YOU CARE AT ALL?!" Casper cried out, practically screaming.
His friends started laughing hard, as if they couldn't hear him at all.
"QUIT LAUGHING! AREN'T I IMPORTANT?!"
"PLEASE! QUIT LAUGHING!"
"QUIT LAUGHING!"
"PLEASE!"
The ghost crumbled to the ground, sobbing, in pain. He felt ignored, mocked, and hated. Like no one loved him.
"Please…stop laughing…" he cried out quietly, desperate.
Then, Casper woke up. He blinked awake, he could feel tears running down his face. He had been crying in his sleep.
He started to sob again.
He knew everything was fine now, and it was just a dream. But it was still so fresh in his mind, the emotions were still there. He felt like dirt over a fake reality. Ignored dirt.
After a few minutes he calmed down enough to get up. He flew into the hallway and to Thatch's dorm. He phased inside and went to the vampire's coffin, opening it. Inside, Thatch had been on his phone. He looked up at the ghost, rather startled.
"What are you doi-" he was interrupted as his boyfriend pulled him into a kiss.
When Casper pulled away, the vampire could see his tear stained face, and the miserable look in his eyes. He sighed sadly.
"Alright, get in." Thatch helped the ghost into his coffin and shut the lid.
Casper tried to wrap himself around his boyfriend as much as he could, hiding his face in the others shoulder.
"Ok, what's wrong?' Thatch asked, wrapping an arm under and over the ghost.
"You love me, right?" Casper asked with a sad tone, his voice somewhat muffled by the vampires' shirt.
Thatch blinked.
"…What?"
"I'm not just some long winded joke, right? You're not gonna laugh and tell me it was all a joke someday…" the ghost choked back a sob as his tone got a bit more frantic.
"Where the hell is this coming from? Have you been talking to Mosshead?" Thatch raised a brow.
"No…I just…Please tell me I'm not a joke." Casper cupped the others face, his tone still had a hint of desperation to it.
"No, you're not a joke. I love you, plain and simple." Thatch sighed sadly, he didn't like seeing the other so distressed.
"Promise?"
"Yes, I promise. May I be staked in the heart if I'm lying. Now, you wanna tell me what brought this on?" The vampire raised a brow as his tone became slightly frustrated.
"I had a nightmare. In it, I was giving you a valentines' card…but you laughed at me, and tore it up." The ghost sniffed.
"Oh…" Thatch blinked.
"I know, I'm stupid…" Casper mumbled.
"No you're not, insecure maybe, but not stupid." Thatch patted the ghosts head affectionately.
"I promise; I'm not dating you as some kind of prank. Even I'm not that mean. And I don't have the patience for something like that ether. I like you a lot…" the vampire mumbled the last bit sheepishly.
"You're soft, and sweet, and cute…You're smart, and the loveliest little thing in Underworld City." He wrapped his arms around the little ghost and pulled him closer.
"And you come up with the cleverest insults~" Thatch purred with a mischievous smirk.
Casper laughed.
"I'm not sure I'd consider that a good thing…" he chuckled.
"Oh I would, and I wouldn't mind if you told me some right now~"
"It's a bit late for that, isn't it?" The ghost rolled his eyes with an amused smile.
"We're creatures of the night, this is a perfect time." Thatch mused, flipping them so Casper was now beneath him.
"You're dirty." The ghost smirked with a hint of mischief in his eyes.
"And it's one of the things you love about me." The vampire purred into his boyfriends' neck.
"True." Casper laughed as the vampire kissed him.
They were both startled by a sudden knock on the lid of the coffin. Well, the 'knock' was more of a slapping sound.
"Guys." Slithers voice came from outside the wooden box. "I don't care what you two are doing, but be quiet about it. I'd like to sleep."
The ghost blushed and hid his face in the others shirt.
"Go to bed Slither!" Thatch snapped.
"Good, we agree on something." Slither stated, likely leaving and going back to his bed.
"Well that was embarrassing." The ghost whispered.
"Eh, I've walked in on him doing worse." The vampire whispered back with a smirk.
"I didn't need to know that." Casper grimaced.
"Well, now you do." Thatch joked. "Now, where were we?" He smirked, raising a brow.
The ghost smirked playfully and pulled the vampire into a kiss.
