"So you really think this is where he's at?" Jack asked Mya as he drove one of the cars down a Massachusetts highway.
She nodded in reply, solely focused on her phone, which had the directions on it. "Oh yeah. When I found the obituary for Morgan's mom from last week, I knew he wouldn't pass up the opportunity to stay in the home he grew up in for probably the last time."
"It's his last time alright." Bobby grumbled from the backseat.
She glanced behind her to the backseat, where he and Sue were sitting. "Don't worry. By this time tomorrow, we will be all snug and cozy in our beds!"
He chuckled. "Let's hope!"
Just then, the computer voice on Mya's phone told Jack to turn off onto an upcoming local road. Soon enough, they entered their destination's neighborhood. About a block away from the house, Jack pulled over and parked. "Let's check it out on foot. We don't want to spook him if he's there." He said, turning around so Sue could see what he said.
"Too bad Sunny and Barky didn't come with us. They could've been the most perfect cover; just a simple couple walking their dogs on a brisk winters night." Sue said, smiling as she pictured the sight in her mind.
He chuckled. "YOU RIGHT." He signed. "How about we take them the next case we have together?"
"PERFECT!" She signed, then proceeded to get out of the car with everyone else.
"So," Dustin started as he got out one of the other cars in their mini caravan. "What's the plan?"
"Well, we'll do a walk-by, see what we can, then go from there." Jack replied.
He nodded. "Who's doing the walking by?"
"Since you helped us figure out where he is, Sarah, would you do the honors?" Jack suggested.
"Really?" She excitedly asked.
"Of course. Without you, we would be chasing his shadow. Now at least we're pretty even."
She embarrassedly smiled. "I'm glad you think that, and I would be honored!"
Jack nodded, turning to Bobby. "You be her backup. Just walk a few yards behind her, and she'll tell you if she needs any help."
Bobby nodded in reply. "Of course."
"Alright." He said, clasping his hands together. "Let's get you guys wired up so we can close this case!
?-?
"It looks dark." Sarah quietly said into her mic as she inconspicuously looked at the target house, which was almost directly across the street from her.
"Any sign that anyone's been there in the past several hours?" Jack asked from the car.
"Not that I see." She replied. "Wait." She announced a few seconds later.
"What are you doing?" Bobby loudly whispered as he watched her cross the street from a distance.
"I see something." She whispered as she walked up the driveway and picked up a receipt that was waving around in the grass. Taking another quick peek at the house, she continued on with the walk, studying the receipt. "It's a receipt from a Slappy's from this evening."
"So if it's from Morgan, we know he's here." Jack surmised.
"Is it the one on Mohawk Trail?" Mya asked, typing on her computer.
"Yeah." Sarah replied, already turning to take the next block back to the team.
"A little bit back from here, but me and Kimmy can go there to get their footage while everyone else stays here to watch the house."
Jack nodded in reply. "Sounds good. We'll move up one of the cars to the very edge of viewing range. Hopefully we'll have enough to get a warrant to get into the house at least."
"This should help somewhat." Sarah said, smiling widely as she held up the receipt and walked back into her group after circling the block.
"Yes, it should. Now go!" He shooed the two women out.
Laughing, Mya grabbed the receipt from Sarah, then the two agents were off to Slappy's.
"Hey, bring me something back, will ya?" Bobby asked as he passed the women on the way to the car.
"You do know what time it is, right?" Mya asked, walking backwards.
Pausing, he turned around and shrugged. "Stakeouts always make me hungry."
Laughing, she turned, then got in the car. "Off to solve this case!" She happily announced as she started the car and drove off.
